They would serve people's drip coffee quickly after the customer finished their cup. Also, LDU is a great place for people to study! Lots of space and even large table space for project and such. One thing I would like to note is that there is a significant lack of wall plugs. They are only located at the bar and there are only a few plugs available. Best. Cortado. Ever. This spot has been on my list of places to try for quite some time and I'm so glad that I finally had a chance to pop in. Carly (I hope I'm stating/ spelling her name correctly), was incredibly warm/ welcoming, upbeat, and helpful in walking me through the menu. I got an oat-milk magicman with honey and it was hands down the best cortado I've had in 2021. The combination between the touch of honey and the espresso they use in their beverages gave the drink a smooth yet subtly fruity and sweet taste that was well balanced with the extra frothiness of the oat milk. Add the fact that it was served up in a beautiful bright blue coffee set made for the perfect sit down, slow sip, and people watching experience. The shop itself is somewhat small but appeared to attract the grab and go customers so that's not too much of an issue. For folks that want to sit and sip, there are some tables for small groups indoors and outdoors and also a larger community style table that seats about 6-8 or so people. The most condescending and rude cashier I ever experienced. They don't have a cold brew and they are insistent that their iced brewed coffee is better and asked if we knew what it was. One of my favorite places. Not far from me and the service is always impeccable. The owner is cool AF and I have NEVER been there and he wasn't smiling. My first time there was on a Saturday like a year ago or something and I remember being thrown off that they had no wifi on the weekends lol. But I think it's awesome. It is here, at LDU Coffee, where all my coffee dreams came true. My friend and I came in looking to try new coffee shops in the DFW area. I've always heard about LDU - how they are an Australian-style coffee shop but also how they have a perfect 5-star rating on Yelp. Standing in front of the menu contemplating what to order, we were greeted by Mark (one of the founders), who offered to help us decide. He also took the time to educate us a little on the Australian coffee culture (espresso-based, stronger tasting) and how drastically different it is compared to how Americans do coffee (brewed coffee-based, milder tasting). They also serve coffee dramatically less sweet than Americans might be used to, which is honestly the right way to drink coffee; I believe sweetness should be subtle, not overpowering, so I'm all for it. I ordered a honey cappuccino, and my friend ordered a vanilla latte. Both drinks were amazing. The cappuccino was a double-shot, (which is as it should be by default, I later learned) so as a result, it was much darker than I was used to. Mark was kind enough to serve me a single-shot cappuccino then, and I got to taste the difference between the mild vs. stronger cappuccinos. I was blown away by how perfect the consistency of the steamed milk was for every drink. Having previously worked as a barista in the past, I realize the skill required to perfect steamed milk. My friend decided to order a mocha latte after finishing her vanilla latte - the mocha was a rich, dark-chocolate creaminess and we both absolutely loved it. You can come here with confidence knowing your coffee will be served with utmost quality by seasoned and passionate baristas. They are very serious about their coffee, and it shows! Nowadays, it's so hard to find a coffee shop where the coffee exudes real passion and is offered at a very reasonable price. Plus, the staff is phenomenal and SO friendly. They really set the bar high for checking all the essential boxes to a visit-worthy coffee shop!! Needless to say, LDU Coffee is fully deserving of all the recognition. Great coffee! I came on Saturday to get some work done but was bummed when I found out that they don't offer wifi on the weekends. I loved the banana bread. It was the best banana bread that I've ever had. I would recommend everyone to try it! As for the coffee, I liked that they asked you how many shots of expresso you wanted in your drink. In A Nutshell: -LDU Coffee is a lovely Australian coffee shop in the upgraded Fitzhugh area of Dallas, Texas. -It's very hard to find a 5 star Yelp reviewed anything these days, especially w/ over 100 reviews, so my wife & I really wanted to check it out. -The minimalist layout is very bright & warm w/ wooded and grayish tones. -You'll also notice the hometown decor (i.e. Dallas teams bobbleheads, etc...) -We ordered a drip coffee & mocha, which were both highly caffeinated & gave us both a nice little energetic buzz for the rest of the day. -I really liked the "locker room" feel when you enter the restroom area. So many reasons why this is one of the best coffee shops in Dallas. First, as you enter, the clean, relaxed, industrial environment is just cool enough without overkill. Secondly, you're greeted by a person who legitimately is glad so see you when he says it - its obvious Mark is enjoying life in his shop and sets the vibe for the whole place. If that's not enough, they've simplified the menu but will take care of you nonetheless. I ordered something a bit different and he took the time to get it right. My numbering system is getting a little onerous, so I'll just jump to the coffee service. If you don't love this place already, wait until you sit down. Nobody was waiting around awkwardly for their name, they want you to have a seat and they'll bring it to you. So simple, but so relaxing and just welcoming. Lastly came the drink and I had a black tea latte. The standard was set high so far, but this was truly a perfect cup. Smooth, a little bitter, creamy and just enough foam on top. What a gem!! I'm so glad I happened to stop by here for coffee, lunch, and to get some work done. It looks like your typical industrial styled coffee house. But there's some sass and sarcasm sprinkled about (just take a look at the menu!). I loved it. The bearded barista men are a little intimidating at first...you wonder, are they going to be pretentious jerks? High class hipster? Lumberjacks supporting their caffeine habits by sampling their own products? No. They are just two nice guys that will talk about coffee and help you get your fix. Very chill and relaxed. You will have to bring cash if you want to tip because their system wasn't set up that way. I never have cash so that's important! I hate trying to find $2 worth of quarters in my ransacked purse...but I did :D Now most importantly...the product. I had a really unimposing tuna melt that was super delicious!! This is a delightful "hole in the wall" coffee shop with a wonderful atmosphere! It's truly handcrafted beverages and food in a no-frills calming space which is practically a hallway. But the BEST part is the owner, Adam, a tall and handsome transplant from Australia with a deep, rich voice and that marvelous accent! Ultra chill vibe here. I'd describe it as a very straightforward coffee shop- focused on the coffee and giving you a place to drink it. I was greeted by one of the owners who seemed like he was trying to have a conversation with me not just get my order. He gladly told me about their coffees, saying that they are focusing on a classic Italian espresso. He then recommended either the long black (americano with less water) or the magic man (cortado). I ordered the long black on his rec and it was strong and delicious, deep deep chocolate flavors just like he said. If you're not into black coffee then I'd maybe go for the magic man. The design is fairly understated save for a few sports bobble heads around the bar, plenty of tables to work at too. I overheard one of the owners talking at length with a customer about their espresso method and even giving tips, something I didn't expect from the business owner. I've had better coffee, but I wouldn't say their coffee is horrible. Coffee: Skinny Iced Vanilla Latte, my go-to. The coffee had a balanced ratio of bitter and sour, however, I like my coffee flavorful & strong without any notes of that sour-acidity taste. They could've added a tad more vanilla, but it wasn't too big of a deal enough for me to go back inside to get them to remake it. I love the owners of this place. Both of them have such great personalities, and one of them even took the time to teach me about his coffee making preference (like french press vs pour over vs cold brew). For the coffee- im usually quite picky. Only two other places in dallas really hit the spot for me. This place definitely does as well. For espresso items, even with two shots, they somehow manage to make the lattes and flat whites super rich and creamy. They have a great balance between the milk and the espresso. The french press was perfectly brewed fresh every 10 minutes, and it was also super smooth, not bitter, not sour. I can chug that straight. As for the sandwiches on their menu, the si si and the tuna melt were phenomenal. I was just expecting a lame normal cafe styled sandwich, but they delivered above and beyond. Overall nothing to dislike at all. The owners said they like doing a mystery sandwich every weekend, so I will definitely be back for that! In the first hour+ I was there using it, no one had even come to that corner except those of us sitting there -- I guess I was pretty confused considering the rest of the outlet options were extremely limited (just a couple at the bar/counter area). Otherwise, the coffee is pretty good, I had a cappuccino and the foam was delicious. It seemed really hopping, so seems like a great place to meet up with a friend, if you're okay with potentially having to shout over the music / other patrons. Wow okay already a huge fan. LDU is the minimalist's dream; spacious, natural lighting, simple concept. The staff asked what I normally order, which is a cortado, the equivalent to their "Magicman." I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. It was exactly what I look for in a cortado, though served like a cap. I stayed for awhile to read and just enjoy the space and my coffee, and the staff repeatedly came around to see if I was doing okay, and brought me water. They are VERY friendly! I love the open concept of the kitchen; you can see everything they are doing down to the washing of dishes so I appreciate the transparency. And there is ample parking!!
