    Crepe with duck confit
    Doug E.

People on this thread have said that when in QC, you have have crepes. I now agree with them. This place is great. I had lunch here and everyone was great including the customers. I have no idea whether it's the best crepe place in Quebec, but it was damn good.

It was a fine experience. Service was slow with an indifferent attitude and the seating was very close to strangers. I found the mushroom crepe to be a little salty but overall good. Cute place. Not bad, but I'm not eager to return.

Was not expecting this to be as good as it was. The crepes are from a north western part of France which makes buckwheat crepes. We got two savoury crepes and they were so so so good. The owner was previously a butcher so we got the crepes with sausage and it did not disappoint. The homemade sausages honesty made the entire meal. The crepes themselves were super soft and nutty from the buckwheat. We also got their homemade hot chocolate which was delicious. And to end the night we got a crepe cake covered in caramel with ice cream. Everything tasted so good. Service was amazing. Our server was so friend and gave us all the history regarding Le Biling. You also never feel rushed and the atmosphere is so chill. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Quebec City. For the food, the amazing service, and the chill warm vibes.

3.5/5 I believe this is a fair rating given my experience here. I would still come back, but the service speed was very slow for breakfast. My family of 3 came here for breakfast/brunch, and it was busy, but there were a couple tables available. After we were seated, it took about 15 minutes for us to be served water and our order to be taken. Each of us had a french onion soup, and I had an egg, cheese, and prosciutto crepe. The french onion soup was good, although there was A LOT of cheese in it. I ended up with too much cheese and not enough soup. We also shared a bowl of hot chocolate as we found the concept to be interesting. It was exactly what it sounds like lol. The crepe was excellent! It's been forever since I've had a French crepe, but this was exactly how I remembered it to be. The entire ordeal from us coming in to leaving the restaurant took 2 hours. I did notice there definitely wasn't enough staff, but I would say for breakfast this was too long. If that can be improved, I would certainly upgrade this to 4 stars.

Honestly, this was insane. I've gone 3x now. A huge selection of ciders and crepes. Football nights are fabulous. Staff are lovely. The vibes are immaculate. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

We asked our Airbnb host for a crepe restaurant recommendation and it was Le Billing. It was more of a small, local cafe We walked it without a reservation , but were able to secure a table as long as were finished within 2 hours - since there was a reservation. The host, server, bartender offered many recommendations and provided us the opportunity to sample some of the ciders before we selected one. The crepes were very good. I had the hazelnut chocolate crepe. A thin crepe filled with hazelnut chocolate and topped with ice cream, chocolate and toasted hazelnuts.. It was served warm and was so good, a perfect balance of sweet and nutty. The entire experience was delicious, friendly and comforting. I highly recommend for a local experience in Quebec City. This is my 1,000 review - of course it is a chocolate dessert with cider !!!

Le Billig was our dinner stop for our first night in Quebec, and it was our favorite meal of the trip both in Quebec City and Montreal! We had a great spot in the front dining area under good blasting air. I ordered the iced tea with maple and Eric R. got a local red beer on draft. All of us ordered savory crepes. I ordered the duck confit with goat cheese and caramelized onions crepe. Eric R. got a veggie and prosciutto crepe. For dessert, I had the lemon curd crepe which had mascarpone and salted caramel, and the crepe was rolled up in a fun way for presentation. Eric R. got the caramel apple crepe. Service was great and the food is delicious! This is a must stop when in QC!

A couple in the Cloakroom Bar in Montreal recommended this place to me and I'm so glad I happened to walk past it while exploring a neighborhood. I also needed to have at least one crepe in French Canada! The savory crepes are made with traditional buckwheat flour (double check whether they are fully gluten free, and contamination is a risk for celiacs as the sweet crepes are made with gluten containing wheat flour). My eye was caught by one that contained duck confit, goat cheese, spinach, and onion confit. It was a rich and heavy brunch but the tangy cheese cut through the richness of the duck and onion. The homemade iced tea, sweetened with maple syrup and lemon, helped wash it all down! Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - limited street parking nearby - potentially gluten free options in savory but double check

Outstanding crepes. I got La Suzette, a flambéed crepe with orange, my partner got the mushroom and spinach crepe Benedict, and our friends got crepes with duck confit. Everyone loved their food. The bowl-sized lattes and hot chocolates are also quite fun. Between the great food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly service, this is a great find.

First stop in Quebec City did not disappoint. The cider was crisp, the crepes were loaded and delicious, and the vibe was super chill. The service was amazinggg too -- 10/10

I once found a place in Paris that offered scallop crepes--a rarity even there. So, when I saw scallop crepes on the menu at this restaurant, we had to try it! It became our first meal upon arrival. It was so good that we had to go back for it. Of course, I ordered the scallop crepes--they were fresh and perfectly made! The homemade sauce was incredible. My partner had eggs benedict crepes with DUCK CONFIT, which I couldn't stop eating from his plate! If I hadn't already eaten duck confit three days in a row, I would have ordered it for myself on our second visit. My kids had La Complète with sunny-side-up eggs and bacon, their go-to order, and it was so delicious that I decided to have it the second time as well. Although the restaurant specializes in crepes, everything else--including dessert--is made with care and love. I didn't have high expectations when I ordered their hot chocolate, but I was so wrong! Their hot dark chocolate was incredible, even better than some of the hot chocolate I've had in Paris. I had rsvp both times and thanks God we did! They stopped taking walk in for dinner after 6 PM, and did not take any walk in during the morning. This is standard practice in Quebec and it wasn't an exception here.

Amazing service and delicious crepes in Quebec City! We arrived without a reservation and were sat at a table of our choice immediately. Our waiter made us feel right at home and really went above and beyond for us. We decided to split a savory crepe, as well as a dessert crepe, which honestly was the perfect choice. The portions were massive and I honestly could barely finish everything. The staff were kind enough to bring the savory crepe split into two plates for us, and also bring out the dessert crepe once we were finished with our first plate. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The buckwheat flour crepe was the perfect vessel for a variety of toppings (ours had chorizo, bacon, potato, and cheese) while the traditional crepe balanced the sweetness of the desserts (ours had a flambéed pear, ice cream, and chocolate). Overall this was such a cozy restaurant and I wish I could come back to try more of their menu options!

Super friendly and considerate waiter here. Have us lots of great suggestions First time having savory crepe and it was amazing! I had the chorizo shallot crepe. Really well flavored and juicy chorizo with crispy crepe Duck crepe: lots of shredded duck meat. Really rich Banana chocolate crepe: classic soft sweet crepe with homemade cream. Can't go wrong with it Cider: I don't understand cider but my friend love it

With the dynamic trio of Philippe Racine, Philippe Fournier, and Andréa Beauseigle at the helm, this newly minted bistro is not just a meal; it's an experience that speaks to the heart of local gastronomy. As we stepped into the inviting atmosphere of Bistro St. Malo, we were immediately struck by the relaxed ambience that feels both chic and comforting. The decor is a perfect marriage of rustic elegance and modern flair, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The menu, crafted with both passion and precision, beckoned us to explore a variety of tempting dishes. We kicked off our culinary journey with the Mussels Marinière, bathed in a heavenly concoction of wine and garlic. Each bite was a succulent reminder of the sea, perfectly paired with crusty bread that could easily become a new best friend. Next on the list was the Soupe à l'Oignon, a classic French onion soup that was nothing short of a warm hug in a bowl. The rich broth, adorned with a gooey layer of melted cheese, transported us straight to a cozy Parisian bistro. Now, if you think escargots are just a fancy way to say "snails," think again. The Escargots Gratinés at Bistro St. Malo are a revelation, baked to perfection with a garlicky herb butter that made us rethink our long-held beliefs about these little treasures. For the main event, we indulged in the Joue de Bœuf sauce Robert, a sous-vide masterpiece that had been lovingly cooked for 30 hours. The beef cheek was so tender it practically melted on the fork, paired with a creamy potato purée and vegetables roasted in duck fat--a dish that could make even the most steadfast vegetarian reconsider their choices. We couldn't resist diving into the Ragoût de la Mer, a seafood stew that was a celebration of the ocean's bounty. With scallops, shrimp, lobster, cod, tuna, and salmon mingling in a rich bisque, this dish was a symphony of flavors that sang the praises of the fresh local products so central to the bistro's philosophy. Bistro St. Malo is more than just a meal; it's a culinary journey that pays homage to both French tradition and the vibrant tastes of the Mediterranean. If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Quebec City, do yourself a favor and make your way to 75 St-Paul Street. You might just discover your new favorite dining spot.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec…read more We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We were underdressed, but the host basically was like "the dress code is only for the waitstaff, you are fine." So the place is definitely welcoming and had a nice vibe. Most of the tables spoke French but there was one other larger group also composed of English speakers. Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.

Jean-Luc Boulay Signature dish: Squab from Turlo's farm (5/5) - so many things to rave about with the dish. You simply MUST try this, truly a signature dish. EVERYTHING was amazing, and that stuffed mushroom took it to the next level for me. RACK OF LAMB (5/5) - beautiful cut of lamb (not fatty like how most other restaurants are). It's also presented/deconstructed so nicely for ease of eating! The Cannelé (5/5) - DREAMY dessert. It took me by surprise with the caramelized crispy cross-sectioned Cannelé sandwiched with rum mousse and ice cream. The Imperial (4/5) - great praline dessert

Service people extremely knowledgeable about the food and the wine. Never have i had someone know intimitely about the wines i was deciding on and that really impressed me. All the food was prepared with precision. It was all perfect. We had oysters with a tomato ice of sorts and i really loved this. It was surprising simple and delicious. I will try to make at home. A dirty martini paired perfectly with it. Comte flan with morels rich and strikingly complimentary to the flan. Fried mushrooms in a type of rice flour tempura (maybe?) were good with the sauce. Looked like the sauce would be spicy but it was not. The star, though, was the beef tongue. If you are eating at this restaurant you probably already eat, and love, organ meats. If not, now is your chance because this is the tastiest, most tender piece of meat we've ever eaten. In a demi-glace sauce that was perfect. The pork belly and lobster was so good we ate it even though we were getting pretty full. Just so delicious, and, again, both lobster and pork so perfectly cooked and a perfectly made sauce as well. So we were so full after that we....... OF course we had dessert! All 3 items. A crueller with creme (anglaise?) sauce, a baked Alaska and a creme brulee with a few candied orange zests. I wish there were more zests! Just fab with that brulee. All 3 were fabulous but the creme brulee was my fave. All in all a great experience we won't forget and hopefully will return to at a later date.

My mom and I went for dinner last week. The restaurant used to be an old bank and you can tell from…read morethe floors. Very cool. The wait staff was very nice and our waitress explained the entire menu to us, dish by dish. We had the mozzarella/tomato dish to start. I had the gnocchi dish and my mom had the catch of the day which was cod I think. The gnocchi was good but very rich. The hollandaise, the creamy egg, I think there were onions in there.. it was very very rich that it was almost hard to finish.. My mom's dish was delicious as well! For dessert we had the lavender, Chantilly, biscuit thing. It was eh. I wish they had a chocolate dish in the menu.
