I'd give it 0 star if I could. I recently visited Le Bon Skin Lab (UES location) for a routine chemical peel (Blended TCA Peel) and paid $150+ tips. Cleo Chong was the esthetician I met with that day. My long time esthetician is now in Crown Heights which is the reason why I booked with Le Bon due to close proximity. Before I got settled in, Cleo asked repeatedly about my current skincare routine. I explained that I'm pretty diligent when it comes to natural skincare practices and have decent experience/knowledge with active ingredients in my current skincare routine including BHA, AHA, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Matrixyl, Argireline, retinol/retinoids, etc. Despite explaining that I'm comfortable with the skincare brands/products I'm using, Cleo was trying to sell me on benefits of "PCA skincare." Later I realized that she's an authorized seller of this brand and I was being forced to buy products I don't even need! This was just the beginning. After the "sales meeting" we start the treatment. It began with Cleo telling me that TCA or Jessner isn't the right fit for me, so PCA peel is what I'll be receiving today?!? I was a little taken back but since she was so aggressive, I gave into her request. I remember her saying, "since I have good skin so you should trust me." I couldn't believe my ears! I have been using Jessner/TCA peels for as long as I can remember so I know exactly what to expect immediately following the procedure. I went home after the service and saw little to no effect on my face. Oh, before I left the facility, Cleo made sure that I secure a $230 follow-up appointment in 3 weeks. I contacted Cleo few days later explaining my dissatisfaction and disappointment for not seeing improvements in my skin or hyperpigmentation around my eyes. The only answer I got was, "give it more time." As I'm writing this email, it's been over 3 weeks and there's little to no results from my visit to Le Bon. I'm writing this review to warn anyone out there who might be considering this place for a real chemical peel - do yourself a favor and stay away. There are so many GREAT options in the city so I'm not sure why any business owner would consider running a service business this way. I feel I was tricked into something I don't need and it left a horrible taste in my mouth. Consider this as your warning. In case anyone claims that my review is false/fake, here's the proof which shows the time stamp and the service I paid for. Advice to the business owner: honesty is all it takes to build a genuine relationship with your customers. Don't try to sell me on shit I don't want and try to listen more so you can help me address my problems. You might actually get referrals and customers coming back for more. read more

I did not have a good experience at this spa. I came because of the Yelp reviews. I was recommended to receive the PCA chemical peel treatment based on my acne. This comes with extractions and the peels. It started off well with Cleo in my first session, then in the following she started to forget the level of strength of the PCA peel she was supposed to give me. In my last session, when I came in she told me she had plans and was unable to do my facial. She recommended me someone else, whom I forgot the name of. She is definitely kind, however she extracted parts that were not ready and worsened my skin. She was also shocked that I never received massages from Cleo after the extraction because it comes with the package. Great to know... My skin was struggling with breakout after long time wearing mask at work. See Cleo with consultation then decide to do a chemical peel. I arrived at my appointment time, she tested my temperature, alcohol my shoes and sanitizer me. Then I changed in the treatment room. Honestly, I have never done any chemical peel treatment and feel a bit scare. Cleo explained to me what she will put on my face, then ask me to scale my pain level, make sure I am ok then keep going. I have been going to Cleo for half a decade now, and truly can't find another esthetician that is as skillful with extractions than her. I've tried numerous other luxury facial spas in nyc that command $250-300 per treatment and I still have Cleo on my consistent rotation as she's the most effective in doing extractions for my combination acne-prone skin. If you're like me who gets the satisfaction from getting all the gunk out (and believe me, there are many estheticians out there that aren't confident in their extracting skills and leave many closed comedones untouched, even when you purchase the "deep clean" service), she's your go to. She also includes a full facial service with her higher end treatment, like IPL. Some spas charge you an arm and a leg for just 20 min of IPL laser treatment, where she includes a facial within the treatment so you get the maximum benefit. The PCA product line may not be for everyone, but the retinol has worked wonders for my skin. read more

Tiffany was awesome! I received email confirmations for my eyelash extension appointment along with a phone call reminder the day before my appointment. When I got there, she offered me tea or water and got me seated as well. She explained to me the process of eyelash extensions and what I'd have to do for the care process. While she was applying them, she was careful and precise on making sure she wasn't hurting me and also explained what she was doing. I was very satisfied with her service! I love this place. Stepping into Le Bon was like stepping into a little oasis on this side of town. They are well equipped with all the right gear for your skin needs. The ambience is nice and relaxing, but above all else, it is SO clean. I felt much safer and more confident going in to have Tiffany micro-blade my eyebrows knowing how clean everything is! Over the last few years, the ends of my eyebrows have grown sparse, and even after I quit plucking them and applied castor oil regularly, they still wouldn't grow back. I chose to get my brows microbladed since I liked the way the strokes look like real hair, and overall, pretty natural. I was hoping to save time on makeup and gain more confidence in my brows through this process. I've never been that great about needles, so I was worried about the pain. Luckily Tiffany has an amazing numbing cream - I pretty much felt nothing! It took about twenty minutes or so to fully kick in. And then I was on Snapchat snapping the whole thing, haha. Overall I'm really happy with the experience. I'm lucky that my brows healed really well, and pretty quickly. My brows look fuller now and I never have to do anything in the mornings! Cleo was very rude and told me I had the worst skin she has ever worked with in her 15 years. I have brown skin and was left with more hyperpigmentation then I had before the visit. The extraction was painful and she kept insisting that I use the PCA skincare to help my skin. I regret going cause now my face looks worse and she made me very insecure about my skin due to her insensitive comments. I have pcos which affects my hormones causing the acne and she said "good thing we wear the mask now so no one can see your acne" I was so broken after that comment. read more

Le Bon was a wonderful experience and the staff were all extremely sweet. It's a small and quaint place that is clean and neat with a great atmosphere. I've had bad experiences in the past with facial treatments so I was a bit reluctant to go when I was recommended this place but I certainly don't regret it. I got the customized facial and got Jojo for the treatment and she was really gentle and thorough. Before starting, she looked at my skin and customized the treatment to fit my skin type and even added extra steps, like adding another mask to moisturize my face because it was too dry. Throughout the treatment, she always made sure I was comfortable before doing starting any treatment and asked if I was in pain. She also explained what the treatment does and even have some tips on how to take care of my skin which is also a plus. She even offered to do my eyebrows even though it wasn't part of the package. Overall, it was a great experience. The staff is extremely nice and the location is also near the train station. I definitely recommend Le Bon Skin Lab to anyone who wants to try a facial for the first time, especially for those that have had a bad experience. I was ready to purchase a deal on Pulsd (website like Groupon) and I emailed the company for open times on the weekend. I was offered the same deal without purchasing the deal on the other site. $109 for an hour massage and hour facial is incredible pricing! I was expecting a spa like atmosphere. It was bright and clean. However, it seemed more like an office space than a spa. The massage: I was surprised to not lay under a sheet or blanket. I was naked laying under a towel. The towel was rough, so when she massaged me over the towel, it wasn't a good feeling. The massage was pretty good. I had to move from one room to the next with all of my belongings. I was in a towel wrap. If you expect people to move from one room to another, a robe and slippers should be provided. The facial: I was hoping for a little more than what I got. After the extractions, she put a mask on my face and left the room for 20 minutes. When I've had facials previously, when the mask is drying, they do a hand massage or head massage. She left the room and didn't come back for 20 minutes even though the mask was dry for a while... I have a feeling that she was waiting until my time was up to come back. The receptionist is very friendly and the spa itself is very clean. I scheduled the massage first. I really enjoyed it and felt relaxed afterwards. My skin was also smooth really smooth. My favorite was the facial done by Cleo. I have not done a facial in a year and usually feel skeptical about them due to the sensitivity of my skin which includes breakouts during the winter. A good esthetician is hard to come by and I've been on a hunt for a good facial place for a while. I was recommended Cleo from Le Bon Skin Lab by a close friend of mine who has been getting facials done by her for 2 years now. I decided to give Cleo a try since I saw dramatic results on my friend's skin and I was suffering from severe breakouts and whiteheads for a year now. What I love most about Cleo is that she customizes the facial to what your skin needs. My first visit to Cleo was my most memorable one. The facial room was dimly lit with soft music playing in the background. The walls were practically sound proof and I was able to unwind and relax on the bed. On top of that, Cleo was very gentle when massaging my face, neck, and shoulders. What I needed most on my first visit were extractions and Cleo is honestly the best at that. I was so shocked my face felt so smooth the next day. On my second visit, Cleo gave me an enzyme peel and minor extractions. Cleo picked an enzyme peel for my skin because it helps fade acne scars and is gentler than a chemical peel. She actually recommended the chemical peel for my skin, but since I already made plans for the next day where I would be out in the sun a lot, she told me to come back for a chemical peel when I am ready. The enzyme peel was amazing. It smelled good and felt great. Afterwards, Cleo applied some essential skincare products and sunscreen on my face to keep it protected until I get home. Two tips I would give: 1. Do not apply makeup after your facial 2. I went for my first facial ever today as a friend gifted me one from her package. Going in, I didn't know what to expect, but wow was I blown away - in the best way ofcourse. As I walked in I was greeted very nicely and given paper work to fill out and was assigned to beautician JoJo. I was taken to the room and given a towel wrap to change into to be comfortable. JoJo then came in, put some amazing calming music and went straight to it. She started by explaining what she was going to do and began asking me some questions about my skin. From the moment she started I literally started dozing off with how gentle she was. I was so comfortable and just took in every minute of it. She cleansed my face and took a good look at my skin and described my skin type in detail as well as what was going to take place during my facial. So many things went into it that half way through I thought she was done and I thanked her, but she wasn't done yet. This was my first facial and certainly won't be my Last.
