It was our first time here and everything was amazing! We called to make reservations and came on a Tuesday evening for our anniversary. The interior was a little smaller than I thought but had a really intimate vibe especially with the dim lights. The host was very friendly and made sure to give us the specials before leaving. Our waiter was wonderful! He gave us suggestions and they were all perfect! He made sure to check on us often and never let our waters empty. The food was so delicious!!!! I've tasted escargot a couple times before and it wasn't very good. But we tried the escargot in garlic sauce here...AMAZING! All our food was wonderful and flavorful. The meat was tender and the veggies were good! All in all we give this 100/10 and plan to make another date night to return.

Le Chat Noir delivered a great dining experience from start to finish. I started with the shrimp appetizer and the sauce paired with it was rich, balanced, and super flavorful. The sea bass was another standout, cooked perfectly and topped with an incredible sauce that really tied the dish together. For dessert, the creme brulee was a solid finish that's was classic, smooth, and satisfying. Overall, a lovely spot with dishes that are thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor.

I recently experienced another great French dinner here with Diane, beginning with Bread Service consisting of freshly baked and lightly crusty baguettes slathered with heavenly butter. Next up for me was an app of Escargots in a Garlic Butter Sauce that was simply superb, followed by Moules Poutelle au vin Blanc (Steamed Mussels) in a milky broth. A crock of Soupa L'Oignon Gratinee au Gruyere featured numerous well-caramelized onions, a delicious broth, and a very cheesy baked lid. For mains Diane enjoyed Les Crevettes in a Lemon Butter Sauce (Sauteed Shrimp), while I was very pleased with my perfectly medium rare Les Tournados de Boeuf Blanc et Noir (Filet Mignon) with both Red and White Wine Sauce. My dessert course was the highlight of the meal. While Diane addressed a large Creme Brulee, I struggled to finish an enormous Dessert Sampler that included Creme Brulee, Chocolate Mousse, Profiterole, and Chocolate Macaron. It was a great end to a great meal. Service was attentive and spot on. And the surrounding ambiance in the small dining room was intimate and romantic.

We are here for my Birthday! The food is delicious and the service was also very well received! All three of us had a fantastic meal perfectly prepared! The appetizers were excellent! The restaurant is small but very intimate! Yes we will return! Thank you for making this evening special!

Came here for a date night - and I gotta say this restaurant really nails the 'je ne sais quoi' vibe to a T. We ordered the smoked salmon for appetizers, and filet mignon and pheasant for the main. Everything was perfectly cooked - the pheasant was pleasant and juicy and the filet mignon had the most decadent cognac sauce. Finally we had dessert, which I thought was the highlight. We shared crème brûlée and the coupe ardechoise (ice cream w/ chestnuts and brandy). WOW these were so tasty! Finally, our waiter was the best - he would always check in on us with each course and would leave with either a dad joke or small quip.

The food here is amazing! You can tell the chef puts a lot of love and time into the food that is served. I personally think it is so rare to find places like that lately. The restaurant is on the smaller side which makes it feel that much more intimate. Service is also great! We had a birthday party here without any complaints. We were able to bring our own cake and the restaurant plated it for us (with a fee). Recommend it for special occasions or nice dates.

Amazing service presented by Adrien, his recommendations were solid. I had the best escargot with these mushrooms oh my gosh, perfect for dipping my bread. I also had an amazing glass of wine. I really just enjoy this experience. I came by myself and it was just really nice and classy and a bit of sophistication. The portions of their escargot was really nice. It took them a while to make it because it is made fresh and the mushrooms and I'm not a big fan of mushrooms but with these mushrooms it worked perfectly.

The French onion soup was some of the best I've ever had! We also had the escargot and while I thoroughly enjoyed the pesto, I do love a little cheese on mine as well. I would highly suggest the crepe de mer. Still top notch and the restaurant was able to get us in during prime Saturday lunch time without issues. Definitely worth stopping in for this gem.

Brought a friend for dinner to celebrate a milestone. We enjoyed the appetizers (escargots & mussels). My friend indulged in her lamb loin. I thought my duck was a bit over cooked. The dessert sampler was the perfect size to share with someone.

All I can say is WOW ! I myself haven't had French Food before and for my first time I'm speechless. Just happened to stumble across this little downtown spot with the wife celebrating 34 Years of marriage. From the beginning the experience was amazing. The waiter was very informative and it was a wonderful anniversary. The French onion soup is absolutely delicious and the bread was fresh and the butter was tasty. Not knowing anything about French food I opted for the venison. The sauce was delicious and the venison was tender and juicy, vegetables fresh and potatoes were excellent. Compliments to the Chef ‍ for such a great first experience. Great little romantic spot. Very affordable considering what you get . Definitely will be back to try some more on the menu.

Excellent dining experience! It was my second time dining here with my girlfriend, the service by Adrian was fantastic as always, we felt well taken care of. I got the swordfish and she got the lamb chops, it was her first time trying lamp racks and she loved it! I am also very impressed with both the appetizers and the entrees, the stuffed mushrooms are a must try, and the swordfish cooked medium was delicious. We'll definitely be back for more ^-^

Love this place. French speaking staff are friendly and informative. Place is cute and cozy. Had the pate this time. Tasty with the unlimited bread. Have had the french onion soup before and it's amazing. We had the steak with two different sauces. Perfectly cooked and so much flavor. Creme brulee is classically delicious. Pinot noir was great. Highly recommend if you're craving french food in the area.

Is there a plan of having Valentines menu for 2025?

    Yes

Can the restaurant accommodate someone with celiac disease?

    Do they allow outside wine?

I believe they allow 1 bottle and charge a $25.00 corkage fee.

Hi, is there a dress code?

Technically there is not a dress code, but it is encouraged to dress in a more semi formal attire. No sandals, shorts, tank tops, etc.

Do they have a private room for groups?

No, but you can buy out the restaurant for a party of up to about 40.

    Do you need a reservation?

You do not necessarily need a reservation, but since the place is quite intimate (I believe 24 tables) and only open for dinner service, it would be prudent to make one, or at least call ahead to see if a table is available.

    Is there a cork fee?

yup! If I remember correctly, its around $25

    Yes, but no vegan options

Like true Parisian style, you'll need to make a reservation because seating is limited and this spot is quite popular. My boyfriend and I were very fortunate they had a table available when we visited (we didn't know it was reservations-only) but the staff kindly seated us. Next time, I'll definitely call ahead. Right away, you're greeted by a warm and welcoming mother-daughter duo. They patiently walked us through the menu and shared the specials of the day. The chef himself came out to say hello and even took the time to explain a few items we were curious about. Soft French music plays in the background, creating such a calm, inviting atmosphere. *Plain Croissant: A perfect classic. Flaky on the outside, soft on the inside; it's exactly what you'd want from a traditional croissant. I'd come back just for their pastries alone, though this time I was excited to try their savory breakfast items. *Croque Monsieur: Absolutely delicious and wonderfully authentic. I ordered it with ham in the traditional style, and it came with creamy béchamel and melted cheese layered perfectly on top. The portion was generous and satisfying. You can add an egg to turn it into a Croque Madame. This came with a Provençal tomato and a potato pavé on the side, both of which were flavorful and beautifully prepared. The pavé, with its delicate layers, was such a standout. I haven't seen these sides offered at other French restaurants in the U.S., and I'd honestly return just for them. *Machaca Frances: My boyfriend ordered this dish, and it was such a pleasant surprise as a creative, well-executed blend of flavors. The short rib was incredibly tender, paired with potatoes, caramelized onions, and more, all wrapped up in a soft tortilla. The fresh pico, sauce, and avocado on top tied it all together perfectly. When my boyfriend mentioned he was eyeing this dish, the chef smiled and said the machaca filling was similar to beef bourguignon, and he was right! It had that same rich, deep, savory flavor. If they ever have actual beef bourguignon on the menu, I'd order it in a heartbeat based on how good this was. *Side salad: This had fresh greens, carrots, and caramelized onions, with oven-roasted tomatoes, and more, drizzled in a rich balsamic reduction. You could tell a lot of effort went into even the salad, and it tied the dishes together beautifully. This café really reminded me of France, which I miss so much. The space is clean, the atmosphere is warm, and you can tell the staff knows their regulars well. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like family as soon as you walk in. Spots like this are rare for both atmosphere and traditional French cuisine, especially around here, which makes Café La Reve feel even more special. I'm already planning my next visit to try their sweet breakfast options and maybe a lunch entrée. I saw in another review that they also offer dinner on Fridays by reservation, something I'm excited to experience soon. Thank you to the entire team for your kindness and hospitality. Café La Reve is a true gem, and I can't wait to come back.

We ordered a main and the Aitaxi or set up for $7 since it included Beef Tongue Escabeche which is a Basque signature dish. 1) Lukainka with Sauce Basquaise is a must get. Rough ground pork butt sausage seasoned with salt, black pepper, and garlic. Snappy skin and meaty texture are a pleasure to bite into. Sauce Basquaise on the side is tomato, garlic, olive oil, pimento, onion, white wine. 2) Oxtail Stew is slow braised for hours in red wine and tail bone supplying a fond de cuisine/broth, perfumed with touch of onions & carrots. Bone in the center, with soft, fibrous meat on the outer perimeter. A) Soup: Finely chopped carrots, trace of earthy, lentil flavoured chicken soup accompanied by sour dough bread. B) Beans in a mildly acidic red tomato sauce. C) Beef Tongue is boiled and soft marinated in oil & vinegar. Meaty yet bit fatty, the Escabeche style adds a flavour enhancing gastrique. Garnished with red tomato slices. D) Iceberg Lettuce Salad in oil & vinegar dressing is wilted with unremarkable processed, gummy white cheese slices. E) Spaghetti dressed with seems like a pedestrian, Salsa Bolognese/tomato meat sauce. F) Scalloped Potato: Slices of boiled, starchy potato colored with some yellow orange cheddar and baked in the oven that was like cafeteria food. 1-2a) Standard red wine varietal like a Syrah. 3) Monique's Gateau Basque: Suggested by our newbie server was a great choice. Two layers of a drier sponge cake sandwiching a thick layer of almond flavoured, gooey Crème Pâtisserie/pastry cream. Not cloyingly sweet like many typical American desserts. Down home food for the most part. Standouts were the Lukainka, Beef Tongue Escabeche, Monique's Gateau Basque, and Oxtail Stew for those really into beef where the meat nearest the bone is sweetest. With Basque restaurants in Socal disappearing such as "Jean's French Restaurant, a landmark in Colton, California, that closed after its French Basque owner, Jean Irola, passed away in April 2012." as well as Glendora Continental which is up for sale, it's important to patronize Centro Basco to recognize and preserve Basque culinary heritage. 3+/4- stars

The ingredients, textures, and flavors were all paired very nicely in each dish we tried. The presentation of every dish we had was immaculate and really elevated the experience (see pics/videos). LONG VERSION: We started with a few slices of French bread that came out fresh from the oven - it had an amazing crust on the outside and was unbelievably melty warm and soft on the inside. I kept asking for more pieces and wish I could have just ordered an entire loaf of it if I'm honest! The presentation of the Hamachi crudo salad was like a piece of art - the dish matched the presentation and the yuzu flavor was unique and refreshing. The shrimp macaron starter was very tasty and the green sauce to dip in had a great spicy kick to it. The Spanish garlic shrimp appetizer was a good size portion that we shared. It came out hot and sizzling on the plate - the shrimp was succulent and the tomatoes and garlic pieces were terrific. For the main dish, we split the uni (sea urchin) pasta. The pasta was home made and delicious. I have never had uni before and it was cool to try a unique and novel flavor but this might not be for everyone (it had somewhat of a bitterness that reminded me of the acquired taste of an olive). The sauce was definitely butter heavy and it evened out the strong flavor of the uni - I found the dish was delicious overall but it is pricey so just make sure you're aware and open minded before you order this. For dessert, we split the chocolate cake/soufflé and this one literally took my breath away and had me rolling my eyes into the back of my head. It was made to order so we had to wait for it to bake, but when it came out, the warmth and quality of the melted chocolate inside was exquisite and the proportions of cake to chocolate to ice cream was absolutely perfect (see video). We don't go out to nice fancy/French restaurants very often, and I'm so glad we indulged with this - it ended the evening in a truly special way. Restaurant ambiance was casual but elegant. Our service was fantastic - we don't eat meat or alcohol and our server helped us navigate the menu to find some great options. Overall, we are grateful for a lovely meal and would recommend anyone else to give it a try if you're looking for a unique and flavorful dining experience.
