Amazing ice cream and service is always amazing and this location i definitely recommend

I tried Handel's for the first time today and was very impressed with the flavor choices and the quality. I had a Raspberry Dream Cream cone, a blend of delicious homemade raspberry sherbet and vanilla ice cream. The crisp tanginess of the sherbet and the rich vanilla were a perfect combo. I also bought a pint of Monkey Business which is banana ice cream with caramel and brownie bites. I had to force myself to put the container in the back of the freezer so I wouldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting! The service was quick and very friendly. The server seemed genuinely delighted to describe the ingredients in each flavor that interested me. My only wish is that they had someplace to sit down and enjoy the ice cream. There is only a service window and it's up to the customer to find some place to sit. Eating my cone in the car on a nice day like today wasn't so bad, but I wouldn't want to have to do it in the heat of summer. I'm glad that Handel's is way over on the other side of town, or I would be there every day working my way through the menu. read more

I've ordered from Handel's Homemade Ice Cream several times in the past and it used to be one of my favorite dessert spots, which is why this recent order was so disappointing. My DoorDash order arrived with almost every waffle cone broken and the ice cream already melted. The bag was messy and poorly packed, showing a lack of care in preparation for delivery. For the prices, I expected much better packaging and consistency, especially for delivery orders. Unfortunately, this experience makes me question the recent quality at this location. read more

Love the ice cream but not the lines. There are so many to try!! So my son and I were craving ice cream after dinner. Came here and the line was pretty long. It moved, probably slower than I thought it would. I wanted to try some flavors before committing and was told I could only try two. Tasted the Raspberry Cheesecake and Coconut Pineapple. The coconut pineapple was sooo delicious. A piece of Hawaiian paradise. IYKYK It's a generous scoop and good thing she handed me a cup because the cone couldn't "handle" the ice cream. Overall I would come back. I imagine longer lines when the heat comes and they adjust their hours to be open later. read more

Icecream so creamy and the texture is just melt in mouth. So rich and flavorful. Had had many homemade icecreams but this is the best. Always a big line but they don't rush you. Always treat everyone with a smile giving recommendations. We waited for almost 19 mins before we were greeted by a sweet girl. We had two scoops as they ate really big in size. Management: You need to do better in coordinating the scheduling to accommodate prime times !!! Came in on Saturday 5/2 after 3:30 pm. There was already a long line forming, about 15 people ahead of us and 20 behind us . We waited 50 minutes to finally get to the window . I felt bad for the little ones and elderly for having to stand that long to get ice cream . There were only two employees working. One was serving the online orders. Kudos for them as they were working very hard without a break , while maintaining a positive attitude. SHAME on the MANAGEMENT for poor scheduling and not providing adequate help . read more

There is something about ice cream and rain that go hand in hand. I have gone here a couple times since they opened and each visit has been positive. Staff are very pleasant to interact with. They do not rush you to pick and option even when the line is crazy long they make you feel like your their top priority. As a very indecisive person, I sooooo appreciate that. You can order ahead of time for pick up or get in the queue(like I normally do) and try some different flavors before making a choice of cone or pint to go. My medium cone generally runs me $8, but we usually will share and ask for a cup to make it more manageable. read more

Very busy plaza with plenty of parking, but it get crowded quickly Experience: There are two lines - stand by and mobile order. They have a smaller menu in the queue for you to browse while you wait for your turn. Once you get to the front, they will call you to the window. Every flavor i've tested and gotten has been good. When it comes to ice cream, it's pretty hard to screw up. But it's also hard to make it stand out. Handel's is above all other ice cream spots I have visited and always my number 1 pick for dessert on a Friday night right after finishing dinner. I always end up getting a ginormous Blue Monster Milkshake (Extra Thick) and have no regrets when my body is totally rejecting the mass amount of diary I had just consumed. The only thing I would appreciate being changed is if they actually put all those extra service windows to work. I really enjoyed what Handel's Homemade Ice Cream brings to the Canyon Crest area and that is some fluffy, delicious ice cream. While they are located next to Rite Aid, where they sell ice cream; as well as Ralph's, where you can purchase ice cream, and a mom and pop shop that sells ice cream, the quality is just superior to the other ice cream offerings in this town center. What makes Handel's different is also by their physical shop: it's a walk-up shop like walking up to the ice cream truck! Because I'm new to Handel's, I shared one of their 4-scoop samplers and got to taste 2 items I really liked: Coconut Pineapple and Brownie Dough. Oh the Blueberry Crumble is really good too! Overall, I'm happy to have a new ice cream shop in Riverside. The workers have been friendly and knowledgeable. And I like the convenience of a walk-up ice cream window! read more

This handles is actually a joke. This happened to us more than we could keep count. My bf and I always come here and he always gets a hurricane and every single time we've came they've told us every time that they're out of the hurricanes. This time I tried to call to specifically ask if they had any in stock before we drove there and she told us over the phone that they did. We drove all the way over here to get a hurricane just for them to say we don't have any. I told them I literally called 30 min ago because this always happens to us and he told us to wait so he can look in the back and made up a story that didn't even align with his first excuse. Good ice cream spot in the canyon crest shopping center. I usually get their milkshake but on this occasion had their ice cream sandwich. The sandwich was pretty good, though I wish the Oreo/sandwich was more of a soft cookie rather than a hard Oreo. Service was quick and friendly! I've had Handel's in LB and Carlsbad and the Riverside location offers the same quality. I got the 4 scoop sampler with Blue Monster, Watermelon Ice, Monkey Business, and Taro. The Taro was rich, creamy, and definitely my favorite. The Handel Pop was small and overpriced, so I'll skip that next time. read more

I am obsessed with the cookie monster ice cream! It has large chunks of oreos and cookie dough. Fun fact, I feel like they are not shy with their serving scoops which is amazing. This is only the small size of the ice cream. They add just a little bit more if you order a waffle cone instead of a dish or birthday cake cone . The customer service is always nice. The surrounding area is perfect as there are benches and trees all over the plaza to enjoy the dessert. This ice is so yummy! They have a ton of flavors and each are so unique. Their service is fast and the center it is located in has great options for food too. I like getting the sampler so we can try different flavors. There is no seating though. You get your ice cream from the window and there is a bench out side to sit but other than that, the ice cream is so good! read more

I enjoy going to Handel's. You are always greeted with a smile and the ice cream is oh so delicious. I enjoy the Buckeye and usually get a quart to take home. I went on Saturday evening and never stood in a line for over 30 minutes just to get ice cream. While waiting, notice there were only two workers, but gave it a few minutes and we now have six workers. The place was very upbeat with all the customers talking to one another.
