It's time to upgrade this hair-do of mine. I have never paid more than $15 forr a haircut. So given the reviews (especially on this gentelman named Jorge) I decided to give this place a shot. I've been to Le Cheveux Attic 2x. First time Mid-March and was appointed with Jessica, it was a walk-in and the place wasn' busy at all over an hr later I and some product tips I loved how cool and stylish my hair turned out. Especially the time and precision Jessica took to do my hair. Even tipped her $10 for a $30 mens hair-cut. Unfortunatly It wasn't like this the 2nd time around. I figured the place will be busy so I called and made an appointment for my GF and I. 2 day prior to the appt. I refered her to Jorge since he seems to get the most rave reviews. I even received a confirmation a day prior from Le Cheveux Attic for the appt. for both my GF and I on May 26th, 2010 at 1:30pm. We had some other things to do so this would be perfect timing. Well Jorge was on time, even brought her a glass a wine and treated her like royalty. For me Jessica said apparently there was a mistake with the appt. list. Yeaaa...Right.. yet she said "Don't worry I'll get you out of here at the same time you're GF is done" Uhmmm should that make me feel better? I don't want to be Rushed. Well I patiently enjoyed the treats thinking it would be only 15-20min max. Well Over an HOUR AND 10 MINUTES LATER I walked out and took a walk because I was really overwhelmed and would most likely be saying nasty things which won't get us anywhere. According to my GF she didn't even apologize or talk to her and she was "looking for me" inbetween the time she was waiting for her other clients hair treatment was going on. And apparently I was called. yet it went straight to voicemail. Yet did I received a voice mail? Nope. My GF and I won't be coming back and I won't be recommending anyone to this place. I have had the honor to get my hair done by Maria and Dez when they worked at Mozart... When I called Mozart to make an appt with Dez they informed me she had her own salon down the street. Being that I had lived in Hawaii for 3 years I wasn't aware of the big move... SO I called Le Cheveux at scheduled an appt with Dez for a bang and hair trim... (Mozart experience with Dez) Dez gave me a 1940s/50s up do for my prom about 6 years ago, She has madddddd skills and is super fast but has amazing attention to detail. When it comes to my hair and especially vintage hair do's I am a picky betch because adding a flower to the side of my ear isn't vintage... and she totalllllyyyy gets that :] haha When I showed up to this awesome new place where these ladies grazed their presents I was pleasantly surprised how cute this lil joint was. I signed in and the receptionist offered me some water, coffee and/or a little snack :]. Dez took me in and we started chatting about everything you can imagine. My three appts with her were amazing and she always kept me laughing :]. I love her and her personality. She always has a smile and always goes that extra mile you make you feel Awesome. She gives complimentary bang trims and I wish most salons would do the same... She lastly trimmed my hair and bangs in January and I wish she was closer... So I have had very long hair since I was 4th grade that's like 16 year now...I figured if I was going to do a drastic hair cut like cutting it above my shoulders...why not give to a good cause...so I went went researching to see why charrties where good and why I should donate my hair...I know everyone donates to locks of love and well I read and and found out that they are over flowing with hair donations so they sell to other hair companies to make hair or wigs for money...I didn't like that. so I found Pantene Beautiful Lengths to make the kindest cut of all ! So i took them the paper of restriction 8 inches or more and I think i cut about 10 inches of hair. Clarissa who is fairely new she added, cut my hair and i must say she did a fantastic job!! i dont do short often and I feel free haha I love it can't complain ! As soon as Carissa Manqueros told me she was moving from that other salon and expanding, I said "wherever you are going I'm there". From the beginning She has known my EXPECTATIONS and DELIVERED. If you are on a tight schedule, she will make you a priority on her schedule - and I don't mean by overbooking either. Heather Gorbea has been my hair stylist for 8 years now. She is awesome and if you are looking for a stylist, I highly recommend her. She is experienced, enthusiastic, hip to the newest trends and techniques, a good listener, and very intuitive. She healed my damaged, over-processed hair with a long term approach that helped my hair look good while it got healthier. She is great with color, high-lights, and cuts. She is also very accommodating with her appointments, once taking me on her day off because it was convenient for me! I can highly recommend her and have followed her from other salons. You won't be disappointed. Most recently, I had my hair done by Heather at Le Cheveux Attic Salon. This location is very, very clean. The decor is relaxing, organized, and attractive. Every detail is beautiful...the coffee mugs even match the throw pillows. There is a little bar of teas, coffees, cookies and other treats. My Jorge has moved!!! OMG what am I going to do! for those of you who have had to find a new stylist know that stress it can cause!!! I was Oh so happy to find that he moved just a ways down the street to this cute new little upstairs hair place! It's a very Cute and inviting salon. they have big comfy couchs to watch tv, read magz, sip some coffee or mimosa while you wait. the decor is in warm colors but it's nice and cool inside which is a plus when all the blow drying is going on! So just to tell you how awesome Jorge is... I recently took my mother in law for a color and cut... her hair was a bit flat and dated (I don't know who did her hair in Montreal but really needed updating)... it was a bit sad... After a brief conversation w/ Jorge about what she wanted he went to work and let me tell you the finish product was awesome! She looked 15 years younger! He recolor, highlighted, cut and styled her hair to make her look youger and not but a little bit either ... not only that she looked more awake and engerized! It was amazed I watched him work and I almost didn't recongized her! She was so happy with her hair do also and she felt like it was steal! I've never had my hair colored but she said in montreal what she had done would have probably cost $250. something about charging per highlight???... I love this place! First off, Jorge is THE BEST! I will follow him to the ends of the earth if I have too. He's just that great. The stylists here have years of experience too which shows. I have been going to Jorge now for almost 6 years and every time he does a great job. Even though he chops a substantial amount, he makes my hair look so long. I love that this salon doesn't smell like a salon. They have a nice comfy waiting area with tons of magazines and a flat screen TV. I love how they also have complimentary water, tea, and coffee available. They also serve cookies and other treats to snack on while you wait. Just a warning, the bathroom is really tiny, as with most in the area. So if you are claustrophobic, pee at home. I highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants a beautiful haircut and GREAT service. read more

I've been coming to Heather to get my hair done for over 10 years and she has seen me through every hair styling whim I've had in that time. I was lucky today and was able to fit into Jorge's schedule. This is my first time and I definitely will be back!! I had to bring my 4 year old son and they accommodated him with coloring books, puzzles, and kid's tv shows. We also had a couple yummy cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, and mimosas if you wanted one. Jorge gave me highlights, lowlights, and shaped me up with some rocking new bangs. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is it was a bit on the pricy side, but WORTH IT. I love it!! I stumbled across Le Cheveux Attic, from yelp.com when I was looking for my new "forever" salon in Whittier. It was sheer kismit that I was placed in Maria's chair the first time, and I have happily been going back routinely since! She is a magician and a true professional with my color. I have long, naturally dark hair and she has just nailed my dream blonde shade. With such a dramatic color, and with such long hair, I don't take getting this service done "lightly"... and it is worth every single penny. Too many people settle for damaging, brassy, cheap blonde, and with Maria's talent, you can look and feel like a million. Thanks Maria for doing such a GREAT job on my hair. I wrote my initial review a year ago, my "service" had been done some months before that. If you get your hair done here and you love it, more power to you it must be nice to have the service you actually paid for and to walk out happy, but if you are looking for someplace to get your hair done bc you need a new salon for whatever reason DO NOT GO HERE, hair salons are a dime a dozen so keep right on yelping. I'm re-writing this review because they did SO much damage to my hair and scalp that time that it is apparent it will NEVER BE THE SAME. It is damaged beyond repair. Dez burned my scalp so badly dying it that my hair fell out in clumps that same week, even despite a half hour conversation initiated by her regarding limitations on what I should realistically do, which I followed her advice to a T. It started trying to grow back over and over and those same clump areas keep breaking and my scalp has never stopped sloughing off while trying to heal itself, never! I thought it would just take some time to grow back out but it's now evident that she fucked up my hair for LIFE. Unfortunately for me most of the areas are in places that are totally visible. I now have frizzy areas of hair that won't grow past two inches because they break. I can't put my hair in a ponytail bc the wiry strands bust loose around the frame of my face, I can't cut bangs because those areas frizz the fuck out and won't stay down. I should have taken pictures so I could have sued their asses. My doctor finally told me last week after repeated visits over the year that my scalp might just not ever be like it was before. I have tried so many treatments to the poor hair that tries to regrow and nothing works. Hair is super important to us females... I valued mine. It was long and pretty, albeit a little thin, before I made the worst hair mistake of my life by walking into that cesspool and now I guess I'm going to forever look like a freakjob because somebody passed that chick out of beauty school. read more

I went to deziree. Had the most horrible traumatizing experience of my life. My hair was waist length. She said she could take me to blonde in 3 sessions each session I was paying no less then 150$. After my 3rd session my hair was above my shoulder. Not only that when I went home and washed my hair the next day it was like gum. It kept breaking off it would dry. You walk upstairs into a Moulin Rouge-feeling retreat with beautiful decor. I went to Le Cheveux Attic yesterday and I was very impressed. From the outside you don't really know what to expect, but once you go upstairs you are greeted with a very pretty and elegant salon. The staff make you feel right at home and you know you are getting professional experience without the snooty attitude other salons can give you. I felt part of all of the conversations going on and it was really fun just to listen too. My stylist Jorge was great and very good about giving me some real honest advice. When he was telling me about a product that I should buy for my hair I thought it might end up like it has at all other salons....a hard sale of the products that the salon carries, but when I asked about the price he actually said they dont sell it there which was really refreshing because at that point I really trusted that the product he was suggesting was actually great for my hair and he wasnt just saying that to make a sale. Lastly, all other salons I have been to have never been able to give me the cut that I want. I have very fine thin hair and I am always told that the styles I want or pictures I bring are not doable because the women in these pictures have way thicker hair than me. I've been receiving haircuts from Dulce since I was about 15 years old. I've gone through literally over 100 different hairstyles with her and she has perfected every single one of them! You can bring her a picture of anything you want and she'll work her magic on it. The best thing is that she takes her time doing her cuts and doesn't rush to get through her work (even though she's already efficient.) The staff here is very friendly and I always have great conversations with them when I'm here. Whenever you're sitting on the couch watching TV you can help yourself to a cup of joe or tea which definitely can be a lifesaver sometimes! I went to Des for an updo and trim. I should have gone with my gut about the trim, and had her just do what I was referred to her for, which was the updo for a wedding I was in. The updo was close to the picture I brought as an example but a bit stiff, which I had cautioned her about against as soon as she began. I came to the conclusion that she does not listen very well. She likes to talk which is fine, but the client requests I think get lost during the conversation. I am very particular about the length of my hair and had asked Des numerous times NOT to cut too much off. In the end the cut was uneven, unflattering and much too short. I look in the mirror and want to cry because it looks so bad to me. It looks thinned out and uneven, I think she used thinning shears. It will grow out, but in a funky way. Not going back. read more

DEZ!!! You are a beautiful human being!! It took me 2 years to find a salon in LA and now I finally feel home=) I have been very nervous to try another salon in LA because I already went through not one but TWO disastrous situations with salons here in LA. So sad, that it took me so long. Originally from NYC so I really have high expectations. And my hair is curly and delicate -- so sadly not a lot of hair stylists (in my experience) have been able to cut and style my type of hair. Well Dez came highly recommended to me by a friend who has very thick long curly hair and I said well lets give it a shot. (fingers crossed!) - this was my last hope! I was able to make an appointment within a few days- so they were super accommodating! Dez made me feel at ease from the moment I walked-in. Actually I remember getting a bit lost finding the salon, I called and Dez stood on the phone until she new I found my way to the salon. I was almost 15min late but she was so nice, which put me at ease! I just wanted to get something basic a trim and blow out. She recommended to give me some layers and front layering so my hair had more body and a fuller appearance. I noticed a difference immediately from one side of my hair to the other. I also told her I wanted to maintain my length and she was very respectful of that she cut just enough so it looked healthy but I didn't feel like my hair was chopped off! We also had a great conversation that didn't feel forced she was so nice, and as the owner of the salon you can tell that she really took pride in her work and this salon is her baby. Which was really comforting for me. The final test- she new exactly how to style my hair! I wanted to blow out my hair with out having to use a straightener and flip out the ends to give it some body. Sounds simple but this has been a struggle for me in the past. And she knew how to blow out my hair with ease and made me feel like a million bucks! YAY! Wait the best part is they are super affordable!! I got all that done for $45? Say what?! So needless to say Dez will be my lady and I know I am specifically talking about curly hair but I saw some other ladies who had different types of hair and they all looked fabulous!! The newly relocated location at 6707 Bright and Desiree's in charge. The salon is old skool on the outside but totally open on the inside. When we first walked in it has a old entrance which was awesome. The stylists are professional and friendly with a smile on their faces. The owner, Desiree, is always welcoming clients and friends with a smile and professionalism. This location was really great for her personality. The old location was small and this is so much better with the openess of the facility. The stylist do a fabulous job, color, cut, and make up is amazing.
