Getting haircuts for me is almost always a nervous breakdown waiting to happen. This Salon was recommended by a friend of mine and I was feeling a little spontaneous. After reading the positive reviews I went ahead and walked in on a Saturday afternoon. I came in for a hair cut and left feeling Amazing. Danielle took my vision and made it happen. She cut and styled my hair exactly how I wanted it. Probably one of the best haircuts I've ever had. After a successful haircut, I went ahead and decided I should get some color in. Was brought in by the good yelp reviews. Sarah did a great job fixing the haircuts my girls and I had. She is very friendly and personable, and so was Sebastian who originally cut our hair (even though all our hair was cut uneven he was friendly). I had came here the first time for hair cut for my two girls. When I checked out to pay he wanted to charge me $92! For two KIDS cuts and washes. I was like, really? You can't go cheaper. Then I was told, ok how about 72$. Still had sticker shock. When I called the next day to find out the cost of kids hair cuts, I was told 30$ each. WHY then did he do this? I feel totally taken advantage in that area. Not to mention. Both of my kids hair were uneven and had to be fixed by Sarah. He then wanted to charge me 192$ for mine. I have NEVER ever paid that much (especially for overly processed, dried and damage look it caused). Not to mention un even sloppy color, with roots showing that looked a month out. Sarah did her best to fix it, but to this day I'm still dealing with all the damage. Not really what I wanted but fixed. I'm not used to such damaged hair. I didn't want to post this. But I really do feel taken advantage of. The owner did compensate and give us two free haircuts for next time as well as some nice shampoo and conditioner. It doesn't fix my hair that I look at daily and it's damage. It upsets me that I was overly charged in the first place and was not charged the set price, and taken advantage of. I am a person that believes in reporting the truth for consumers to make informed decisions. Arlene H.'s review is not only unfair but is slanderous in nature. Lenore was in a car accident and was in the emergency room for a greater part of the night. She has documentation to prove she wasn't a irresponsible, careless, "disappointment" as this person small ignorant person is making her out to be. I understand this person was upset and had to find an alternative but the review is not an accurate description of what took place and the review should be removed. The purpose of yelp is to help consumers make an informed decision regarding the vendors they choose to use. False slanderous statements such as this not only hurts self employed people but also limits the consumers choices. I hope that instead of turning a blind eye to this, Yelp will do what's right and investigate... ask Lenore for documentation and once received delete the defamatory comment intended to harm her reputation and tag this person in your system so her reviews are monitored. I went to Salon Pinup 2 weekends ago to have my hair curled and styled for a wedding. It was super easy to schedule my appointment and I got the time I wanted. Johanna did an awesome job on my loose curls/waves 1940's styled hair. I received so many compliments. I went back today to get a haircut - again with Johanna. She's super nice and friendly, and again did an awesome job with my hair. She made my bangs look superb! The salon is overall very nice, clean and the rest of the staff seems very friendly as well. Lenore has been my stylist for years. I have followed her from previous salons. She is a professional, it is clearly evident that she loves what she does!! I am always pleased with her work and I recommend her to all my friends!! I couldn't be more pleased with Lenore as my stylist. I pass this place everyday and today I popped in and inquired about a cut and blow dry. No one was available at that moment, they primarily take appointments, but they took my number and within the hour I got a call and was back for my cut, wash and blow dry. Samantha gave me the exact cut I wanted and blew dry it perfectly. I was in and out in an hour. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful, the price is right and my hair looks great. I really like the idea of this place- how awesome that there's a salon that specializes in vintage and pin up styles- but I've been there twice and both times I didn't think it was that great. I went in for a updo (victory rolls) and the girl doing my hair stopped half-way through to go do another customer's hair without saying anything to me. Then a different stylist came over and took over. A third stylist finished up. It was kind of odd having 3 different people tag team my hair... The second time I just went in for a wash and blow-out. This is one of the best, and most personable salons I've been to. I've been going there for about 2 years now, and every time I am treated wonderfully. I've come in with damaged hair, and they've fixed it. I've come in with Orange hair that came from a box, and they fixed my color. Julie is AMAZING with my hair, and she is worth every penny I spend. The only drawback I have is that I think more salons should take debit/credit cards. We're in a paperless world now! The hair-care world needs to catch up. read more

I'm giving a 1 because there is no option for below 0! Julie ruined my daughter's beautiful hair. We explained to her that my daughter had used box dye during COVID and asked for a caramel balayage. She looked at the picture and said ok. She never said it wasn't going to work because of the box dye, totally messed up her hair ( with multi color , uneven highlights rather a balayage) and when confronted called my daughter a lier and blamed her mess up on the box dye done 6 months prior. This review is way overdue. I went in twice for hair and color. The first time, I was very pleased. The gal did a great job and I was satisfied. However, the second time I went in was another story. I had an appointment and waited over an hour to have the stylist begin working on my hair. She did apologize a couple of times but . . . just don't double book. Maybe I should have said something while I was there but I figured that when I paid for the service, I would get some type of discount. However, there was no compensation for my time wasted sitting around waiting for the stylist to complete the other persons hair and begin working on mine. I get it, people have to make a living. Wish they had more starts! 5are very little for this salon. I went in today for a hair cut. Like most of us, I had an idea of how I wanted to cut my hair. I have very curly and thin hair. I saw Danielle today and she was super nice, friendly and professional! She convinced me not to cut my hair too short because it's so curly and if I wanted very short hair I needed to blow dry it every day aspect of which I did not think of!! so I'm glad I didn't. I do not think its expensive, it was $45 for the cut, styling and blow dry.... I've had experiences were I've paid very little but the damage to my hair was expensive.. I'd recommend everyone to go here! Friendly staff, the owner of the salon is super nice and funny and the service go above and beyond my expectations! I hate getting my hair cut. Just so we're clear, I think this hair cut count to a dozen. That might even be me exaggerating. I do not get my hair cut often. That being said, what a nice experience I had at this salon! The ladies are friendly and the salon was clean. I got my hair cut by Cindy, who was very kind and listened to my fussiness with patience and obedience all while ensuring I got a nice shape to my growing bob. They even did a deep conditioning treatment on my hair while I waited for Cindy. Even a week later my hair is still soft! Sorry ladies this review is long overdue, I found salon pinup through Yelp and I chose them because of their reviews. I also chose them because my days off are Sundays and Mondays. It seems that any really good salon are closed Mondays. I thank God that after searching and searching in the city that I am new to that I found salon pinup , they are open on Sundays. Anyway,I had my haircut done on a Sunday, the person was who cutting my hair asked me a little about what I wanted and although she was very nice , she just did not seem to know what she was doing. She might be a great hairstylist maybe she's just not familiar with cutting short hair maybe she's not familiar with cutting curly hair I don't know , but when I left there my hair was uneven, the right side was approximately 1/2 to 1 inch longer then the other side. Since my hair is curly I just decided to wait a little because I wasn't going to go back so that she can fix it. Days later I received a call from Sarah and her message was that they had to let go of the person who had cut my hair and they wanted to be sure that I was happy with my haircut and if I needed to, to call them and they would check out my hair and correct it if necessary. I was so impressed by their follow up call especially when I never called to complain. So I went there on the following Sunday, I was met by both Dana the owner and Sarah. They're both very nice ladies, and Sarah is the one who checked my hair and agreed with me that it was uneven, she fixed my hair so I won't have to walk around feeling uncomfortable. I will definitely go back to the salon. I appreciate That Dana took the time to ensure that her customer was happy I would truly go back! Clean, good products are used on my curly hair, and Danielle is hands down one of the best stylists I've ever had. She's sweet, smart, funny, and extremely talented. I go to her for cut and color, her ombré is probably the best I've seen. And she knows a lot about hair and the science behind coloring. She explains every step to you if you're new to it. I'm very picky with how people color my hair and cut it because I have curly hair and sometimes it looks strange. But Danielle knows exactly what she's doing and I come out loving my hair every time. The first time I got my hair done here was about 2 years ago, by a woman named Leslie. She helped me with the idea of a pixie cut, which I had never had, so I was nervous. She cut my hair and it was beautiful, and she was so friendly, which is the ONLY reason they get 2 stars. I went again thinking it would be the same kind of experience but the girl who did my hair was impatient, and didn't cut it the way I wanted it. When I asked her to fix it, she was rough with my head and pulled my hair. I went once more hoping that the last time was a fluke, but the woman who did my hair this time was chatty with other clients in the salon and completely ignored me, and took her time cutting my hair between her conversations. When she was done I noticed that my hair was crooked- not just a little off but noticeably about 1.5-2 inches. She saw it too and just said, "Oh, it's crooked. That's okay right? You like it that way." I do not need a complete stranger to tell me what I like. I left the salon that day and swore to never go back, and now that my hair has grown out more, I can see how bad of a cut it was. This salon has also had SO many stylists come in and out, as if they aren't able to hang on to the job. One of the stylists was telling me that the reason for this is that the girls who worked there kept stealing money from the register and overcharging customers and pocketing the extra cash. In my opinion, cute salon, but EXTREMELY poor quality. Don't waste your time or money. read more
