I got the worst haircut, I honestly can't think of any other I've been this unhappy with. I held off posting this, hoping it would get better with a bit of time, but no. It's terrible. I knew it wasn't good as I was getting my hair cut, but I have relatively short hair & just kept telling myself that it's just hair and it'll be okay. I have relatively straight, fine hair, and I just wanted a textured bob to give my hair more volume. My appointment was with Destiny. She wanted to cut my hair dry and after she used a straightening iron, which I was ok with if it helped her get a better, cleaner cut. It did not. As the cut came to a close, it really wasn't looking right. I mentioned how flat my hair looked. She seemed to either get flustered or frustrated, because she just started going all Edward Scissorhands on the back of my head, but unfortunately, without the neat results. She hacked off the under layers from the back of my head, so that now the outer layers cling to that weed-whacked patch and give me a really cool dented head look. When she was done, I didn't like it but it looked relatively even, so I paid, tipped her for her time, & left. It only looked even because she used a straightening iron to curl it under. It is absolutely not even, nor does it look like the results of going to a professional. I am writing this to warn anybody with fine or thin hair. Steer clear of Destiny. read more

This was my second time ever getting my hair dyed and I'm glad it was such a good experience! I booked my appointment thru Yelp messaging and they did a very good job working with my schedule. I recommend making an appointment beforehand as the salon is not fully open and artists don't usually come in and wait on walk ins. Save yourself the time! Temperatures were taken right when entering the salon and the chairs are wiped down beforehand. Felt very covid safe throughout the whole appointment. I highly recommend Reyna. She listened to my needs and was very clear about the time and price she was estimating before starting on my hair. Very personable and kept great conversations thru the appointment. I asked for a brown balayage. I started with thick black mostly un-dyed hair and she was able to transform it to a nice bright brown in one sitting. I did go back one week later because I wanted it a little darker, so she toned it down to a darker brown. She gave great recommendations on my dry and itchy scalp and made sure I was happy when the end product. The salon itself has great ambiance and nice decor. There is free two hour street parking but if you are getting a balayage I recommend parking in the Uptown Parking Structure two blocks down. Also free. Definitely looking forward to coming back when I need my hair touched up. read more

I found the salon on Yelp when I was desperate for a last minute cut and had such a great experience! The salon is clean and well done and the chit chat was great! Destiny was my stylist and she killed it with my hair! Can't recommend her enough! I haven't had a cut for over a year and she must have taken at least 8-9" off. She cuts hair dry which made me nervous at first because i have wavy hair that i air dry, but I'm over a week in with a few washes and loving her work! She wasn't afraid to really take out some weight in my hair which I had asked other stylists to do before and no one could get it right. It sucks to see someone else left a complaint because as far as I can tell she can cut just as well as the stylists I used to see at high end salons LA. You guys can call me a Karen, I don't care, but here are my 3 complaints: 1. The receptionist booked me just for a hair cut even though I asked for cut, color, and a hair treatment. 2. Don't let them book you with Patty if you want your hair to stay long. I went in with my hair at my mid back, asked for a 2 inch trim, and left with it barely below my shoulders and only thinned out at the bottom and not the middle so I look like an 80's rock star. 3. She took 3 hours for a dry cut, her choice, a wash, and a blow dry and charged me $75!! This isn't Beverly Hills, it's Whittier. I will never ever go there again, in my whole life. read more

My search for a hairstylist is over! Thank God for DESTINY! Like many, finding someone you can trust with your hair can be a struggle. Berlin Salon was recommended to me by a co-worker. I looked them up online and on Instagram, and I liked what I saw. I was contacted by Destiny. I explained to her I wanted to go from dark brown to blonde. Sent her a few pictures for the look I was going for and boy did she nail it. I am so impressed and blown away by her skill and knowledge. She is a gem and very gifted in what she does. It only took one visit, which is very time-consuming when dealing with bleach. I am very grateful for her time and the effort she puts in and for not making me come back for several visits. I couldn't imagine doing something like this in sessions. I have received so many compliments on my hair. I highly recommend Destiny! She is amazing!! I can't stop raving about her. Called in super last minute but was still able to book an appointment for highlights, toner, haircut, and styling. I'm going to save someone's life/ hair with this post. So a couple months ago I decided to touch up my balayage and this salon had an opening for a same day apt-- lucky me. I believe the guy who did my hair was Jay. I just wanted the balayage to be higher and lighter. Tell me why this boy bleached my whole hair YELLOW WITHOUT blending the roots?!? (No color melt, no dimension, straight up yellow) I couldn't even look at myself in mirror. I looked so mf chunti. It looked like I let my hair grow out for two years without retouching it. The following day I went to another hair salon were they fixed up his mess (but still very yellow) and just today I got my hair done by @lady_leche (insta). Scarlett was my stylist and I asked for a bayalage and cut. I wanted to start going lighter for the summer. My appointment was May 12, 2018. I wasn't expecting to get extremely light by the way I am not unrealistic I know it's a process. So I was under the heating lamp and Scarlett would periodically check my hair. She asked if a wanted to go a little lighter because the process was going good and my hair was doing ok. I said as long as it can be done safely and not mess up my hair. I paid $185.00 plus a tip. The next day my hair started breaking off pretty bad. I was trying not to freak out. So i gave it some time thinking maybe it was just the ends due to the bleaching. By the way I have naturally curly hair and my curl is completely gone except for the top part of my hair. My hairs texture is not the same. However it just kept breaking off all over. I couldn't take it anymore and texted Scarlett may 15, May 18 and 29th. She finally replied on the May 29 th 2 weeks later. This was very unprofessional. When I was texting and talking to her about a quote she was in constant contact with me before my appointment. She did offer to she did offer to do a complimentary treatment and cut but I feel because of her unprofessional lack of communication I do not want her to touch my hair any further. I had to start the process of color correction and try to nurse my hair back to health. At my own expense. The hairstylist I am going to now is very knowledgeable, professional, and honest. My new stylist felt so bad she fit me in right before her vacation. I hope Scarlett will learn from her mistakes to better improve her business. As far as the salon Berlin goes the other workers at the front desk were not welcoming to their place of business. read more

I went in for the first time for an appointment with Casandra . I am very particular with whom I let cut my hair. My hairdresser of many years left me unhappy with highlights which caused my hair to break and become really unhealthy and brittle. I died my hair and of course the highlights are coming through with every wash. I was so scared to have someone new cut my hair and Cassandra made me feel very comfortable. The most horrible salon experience in my life. I paid Cassandra Salinas $600 for a balayage and Brazilian blowout. Thiswas my first time coloring my hair ever and my first Brazilian treatment. She did NOT get the color or hair cut right like the reference picture at all.I wanted chocolate brown thick highlights mixed in with my long, black, hair. I got choppy layers and dirty blonde highlights blended through out my whole hair and not in sections like I wanted. She spent all our time on the color and did the Brazilian and haircut in an hour. She tried to blame me that it was what I requested in the consultation, but I specifically said chunky chocolate brown highlights in a subtle way. When I went back 3 days later and ( had to wait for the Brazilian before washing) to tone it dark brown I asked how we could get it closer to the picture but I was blamed for the service not turning out right and she offered to redo it for a discounted price. I asked for a middle ground and she didn't want to redo her work so she referenced me to her manager Jessica. Don't even bother with the manager. I really tried to resolve the matter with them but Cassandra rents a chair from her and she said she isn't "really" responsible for what happens. She said she would try to talk to Cassandra but nothing happened. I tried to get in contact with Jessica or Cassandra and only Cassandra responded to try to "resolve" it. We were going to try again to tone it and bring in more black sections but she couldn't fit me in until way over a week later leaving me with a hair color I hate for almost a month. Before shehad a busy schedule and was able to squeeze me in.The final straw for me was she said she could only tone my hair the dark brown and not add in my natural black hair. Don't trust this salon. They do not take accountability or try to work with you. They will blame you and make you feel horrible so you don't want to go back.This is the most stressful experience ever and I will have to go elsewhere to tone my hair darker and try the style I was going for in a few months. read more
