I was going to take my daughter to Great Clips but her being a preteen I knew she was going to be mortified if they did a bad job (and they have slaughtered her hair in the past). I called Salon Cheval because of its proximity to our house. I didn't think they'd fit me in within the hour but I thought it wouldn't hurt to just call and check. Well, the owner answered the call and after making some accommodations, got us in for an appointment with Marisol within 45 minutes! She was so kind and accommodating! Marisol did a great job giving my daughter her first "real" hair cut and style! She felt like a million bucks! The salon was clean, hip, and very large inside. When we got there it looked like it was by appointment only, so i asked the receptionist if by any chance anyone had availability for a kids haircut. She mentioned it didn't look like it but she was going to go to the back and ask, as some of the stylists were on lunch. She came back out and with her was a stylist! After reviewing all the positive reviews on yelp, I decided to give this place a try. I've been regretting that decision for 5 months now. I was told my stylist had 15 years experience. I specified the following: -coarse, thick, frizzy hair -severe color damage -looking to grow out my natural hair -needed a stylist who would listen -stay specific to my chosen style or tell me if that style wasn't possible with my hair (because sometimes that happens) I went from hair just below my shoulders to a cut that was shaved on my neck and at the hair line and I looked like I had a legit bowl cut. There was zero resemblance to the cut I'd had pictured. I wanted a bit of a fringe. I had these bangs that just went on to frame the middle of my forehead in a semicircle and sort of curl under. I couldn't put my hair up. When I say it was full Karen, I mean it was an honest to god, full Karen. The stylist I had needed me to stand up to cut the ends. Most people know how stressful it can be trying to find a new stylist but Sheila Young took all my worries away! She is very personable and a great listener, she will ask you questions about your hair and your expectations so she can better understand what kind of cut you're looking for. She was able to give me exactly the cut I was looking for and even explained different hair terms so I myself could better understand my own cut. I love learning about anything beauty so I was definitely happy with that. I can't say enough how happy I am. I came in feeling self conscious and unpretty, but left feeling much more confident and pretty again. It was also extremely easy to find parking since they have their own parking in the back. I took my teenager for a hair cut with Angela. Teenagers are very picky about their hair. She showed Angela what she wanted and Angela delivered. My kid was very happy. So I made an appointment for myself the following week and loved the results. The following week I took my daughter-in-law and guess what. She also loved it. Do your research on the salon and it's hair stylists before you choose to pay money for their services. The stylist I was assigned was young, but way too inexperienced. She told me she had just been assigned a chair just months after she graduated cosmetology school, and her inexperience showed. I was left with a choppy mess of a haircut - that she cut way too short. I had to spend more money getting it fixed with another salon. It's a shame this salon allows stylists without experience to cut hair. And charge just as much as one with experience. Had I know I wouldn't have wasted my time and money here. read more

I LOVE going to see Thayra!! Thayra has been doing my hair for YEARS and I am ALWAYS happy with her work! She has seen my hair through thick and thin (literally) and short to long. No matter what style I ask her for, I know she will do a fantastic job. I never feel like she's rushed. I feel so comfortable with her that I'm not paying attention to her cutting my hair or styling my hair. I can focus on our important conversation! LOL. Thayra will also let me know if the style i want needs to be adjusted for me and prevent a bad hairstyle for me. She has done my make-up once and she did such a great job, I still remember how pretty I felt. That's a huge deal to us ladies! :) Thayra has also done my little girl's hair and is so patient and creative with my wiggle worm! And my princess adores her.
