The items are placed where its so appealing to the eye, that you just want to take a bite out of everything. My group ordered a little bit of everything as far as the desserts - macarons, carrot cake, cake pops, lemon merengue, pretzel cookies, and their hot cocoa. They were all delectable and yummy! Price is not bad either. The little desserts were 4 for $8 so you can get a nice variety. They also have a bar on the other side, with tables to sit at and enjoy what you order. They have really good versions of hot chocolate, and even serve liquor! If you order a hot chocolate to go, you need to take your receipt to the bar on the otherside. The reason I knocked off a star is because the 2 girls working the hot chocolate bar the night that I went seemed to be more involved in themselves and joking around with each other rather than the customers at the bar. I stopped by while I was in the area and decided to try a few truffles and an eclair. I had the salted caramel, mexican chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate truffle and a vanilla cream filled chocolate eclair. These truffles are huge, which sometimes is a bit off putting to me because I feel like they are trying to overcompensate. The chocolate shells were thick and the ganache filling were smooth and decadent. I liked the simple dark chocolate and white chocolate truffles the best. The mexican chocolate had an interesting and spicy flavor to it, but I thought there was an overwhelming amount of cocoa powder dusted all over it which made my mouth really dry. I didn't like the salted caramel filling because it had some sort of deep molasses-like note to it. The cream filled eclair was very good. The pate a choux dough was light, fluffy and airy and the filling was not too sweet or too dense and the chocolate toppings added the perfect sweetness and bitterness to it. I feel like this place would have a higher rating if it tried just a tiny bit harder. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday evening after dinner while strolling around downtown Naperville. Very interesting to experience so many levels of service in such a small place in such a small time period! I glanced at the menu and had a feeling all their desserts would be super, super sweet so I opted for a latte only. I saw the Caramelatte and the description immediately spoke to me: Our latte contains the finest Italian espresso, steamed milk, frothy milk foam, and a generous scoop of real hand made caramel blended in. Topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce. TOTALLY had to have it! My boyfriend chose the Mocha Mint: Our Italian espresso, topped with perfectly frothed mint cocoa, then topped with whipped cream and mint chocolate chip malt balls. Both drinks were so, so delicious!!! I absolutely loved their hand made caramel and you can really tell the quality of their drinks. We both enjoyed every single sip. At $4.95 a cup I feel like these are such a bargain and I could totally drink these all day every day till the end of time, so good thing I live in Atlanta. I found out about this place by attending a chocolate Yelp zoom event. The owner, Cathy Bouchard had suffered for many years from debilitating illnesses. She did like to read, especially historical books of other civilizations and she stumbled upon the Aztec chocolate philosophy and preparations. She said that Montezuma and his army would take the dark cocoa in their packs going into battle. She said that the men noticed strength and increased virility...so the wives tried it and found good side effects from it as well. They learned how to make their famous hot cocoa from it and the rest is history. Cathy embarked on a mission to find the pure cocoa and make it into a marketable formula. She now sells the product in her store, over the phone and one Etsy. After using the product herself, she is a thriving, energetic, successful businesswoman with several store locations. But there is more than dark cocoa at the store!!!! There are amazing bon-bons, desserts and a restaurant downstairs that is famous for their chocolate martini! One of my favorite places in downtown Naperville to get macaroons and delicious martini's. My wife and I have been coming here since moving to Naperville and it's still one of our favorite date night spots. The owners and staff are friendly, the chocolate martinis are delicious and variety of bon bons are always beautifully made. I don't know who makes those things but they are talented! So disappointing. We don't typically find ourselves in Naperville even though we don't live far (Glen Ellyn). But we did that day, and found on Google Maps this French bakery. Being French immigrants, we're always on the lookout for a taste from home! Well, we got in and just noped out of there right away. Literally all patrons were wearing a face mask; and literally no employee was. None at all. Doing something technically illegal is one thing; but at least read the room and notice how much safety your customers seem to care about. I wasn't particular excited at the idea of eating chocolate someone may have sneezed on in the middle of a pandemic, so we got out and found Tous Les Jours instead about 10 minutes away. Received boxes of their truffles as a gift and would say they're just okay. The truffles are beautifully decorated, but they are much better looking than they taste. If you are looking for dainty, refined truffles, these are not it. These are enormous chocolates with heavy, rich, ganache fillings. I could only eat them 1/2 at a time, as I found them to be much to sweet and the amount of filling was overwhelming. All in all, presentation was good, taste was okay at best. We ordered one slice of carrot cake for sharing in addition to a round of beverages. They do the courtesy of splitting your hot cocoa into two cups if you share with a friend. I gave the Mexicocoa a try and it was rather light. The cacao flavor was not blatant and the mix was a bit watery. The carrot cake was a heavy and generous slice. The atmosphere is great, but the service is awful. 25 minutes seated and we didn't even get water, they brought the glasses dirty and wet. And didn't even match also didn't even bring glasses for the entire party. Our server took forever to come take the order, we asked for the manager, the manager came and he was absolutely careless. I had to ask him twice to bring us water, and after all that didn't even bring water for everybody. Our order took around an hour to get to us. After all that wait the food was not good neither the cake. My mother ordered a soup they brought her the soup without a spoon I had to get up and find the spoon my self because the waitress never came back. Also everything was over priced. Every time I have gone, it has been delicious.The chocolate is rich and velvety while the additive flavor enhances the richness without overpowering. I love the vibe in the little restaurant and chocolate shop. The colors are warm and cozy. It is the perfect place to stop on a cold, winter (or fall) day to warm up. Everyone has always been very nice and I have felt well taken care of. It does tend to get a little crowded on the weekends and it may be difficult to get a seat even at the bar. I love a good dessert and this place delivers. The chocolates are decedant but I'm going to toot their macron horn. I've gotten these at other stores in the past and I didn't care for them, thinking these little cookies were tough. I must have had a stale one before. The macrons here were so light and crisp. I accidently smushed my son's cotton candy one as I handed it to him... but he was OK with it. Their chocolate chunk cookie is also a total win. I went in just to pick up some goodies. I had the mini chocolate mousse, carrot cake, lemon meringue, and the cookies and cream macaroon. It is so hard to find a good macaroon and this one was delicious! I am definitely going back for more. The carrot cake and lemon meringue were also delicious. This is my second review for this establishment. This review is for the private party room upstairs. Our daughter wanted to have her 6th birthday party here. We inquired and they said they do kids parties all the time. They do cupcake decorating and hot chocolate or iced hot chocolate. Each child got a nice sized cupcake and then there were bowls with lots of different things to decorate them with, 2 flavors of frosting, sprinkles, M&M, Skittles, cherries and more. The private party room is upstairs and easily and comfortably accommodated 16 kids and 15-20 parents. The party we booked included iced tea, lemonade and coffee for the adults. We also ordered a bunch of the bite sized baked goods from downstairs for the adults. Angel was our party coordinator and she was fantastic. You can pick your linen colors for the tables. If you're looking for a fun kids party something different than a bouncy house place or bowling alley this is the place.
