We were walking around after visiting the Eiffel Tower and the waiter welcomed us in and everything seemed ok. We ordered steak and fries and grilled chicken with salad and escargot. The waiter was shown pictures of the type of escargot we were looking and agreed it was the same. The waiter brought out tough overcooked steak and a salad drenched in ranch. The chicken was not grilled it was deep fried and the escargot we showed him was not like the picture we presented him with. He told us "The food is already cooked, if it was not cooked I could refund you this is the problem" This was $71,30 eur and definitely overpriced for the quality of food. While the atmosphere was great in a convenient location ,not far from the Eiffel Tower, we could not help but feel scammed. My family of six (4 adults and 2 toddlers) had the great pleasure of having dinner here. We made reservations in advance and were seated immediately. The restaurant is located in a cute little neighborhood perfect for strolling around. Our server was very attentive and took great care of us. The restaurant was even kind enough to prepare plain pasta (off-menu) to accommodate our little ones. We shared the oysters (they were not my favorite) to start. They offered us an amuse bouche as well. I ordered the lobster pasta and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food here was delicious. The seafood tower looked AMAZING. My wife and I had dinner at Le Dôme on 22 April 2026. Many of their a la carte menu items were not available. My wife ended up ordering liver which turned out to be quite tasty. However, my seafood platter left a lot to be desired: the muscles were definitely not quite fresh, and the lobster was spongy and tasted stale. Furthermore, after my first glass of Sancer, I ordered a glass of rouge but our waiter Dmitry brought me another glass of Sancer. Then finally, Dmitry of his own accord added a hefty service charge to our "tout compris" check and I silently signed it to head off a nasty dispute in front of a push French clientele. read more

What a surprise this restaurant ended up being. The food qas exquisite but the service was the best of the best. Our server James and his team were funny, warm, welcoming and on top of their game the entire time. My mom had the veal chop she said best ever. I had the seafood platter and my husband had monk fish. The true winner though was the dessert!!! Run and vanilla Napoleon that has won awards for best Napoleon. It was a glamorous evening at an old school ornate beautiful French seafood restaurant with excellent staff who were professional, but friendly, and made sure everything was done right. 100% a tourist trap. Not much of a surprise being so near to the Eiffel Tower. After my 2 weeks in Paris, easily the bottom of my list of places to go. ( side server spilled 1/4 Martini in my lap when moving things around but never offered to refill ) Got the lagostines and oysters for raw platter. No sauce for the oysters. Requested a mignonnette. Oysters not separated from the shell. Maybe that's a thing here. The $38 langostines 5pc were the size of shrimp and were whole / not split and nothing to split them with or any wet cloths etc to clean yourself with when splitting them with your hands. (I'm a There was less than a teaspoon of meat per langostine and the texture was mushy not at all firm. The last langostine smelled really bad and the waiter replaced with 2 more which was nice. Couple glasses of nice white wine. Got the Bouillabase for 2ppl. Broth was flat. Fish has a ton of bones.. Got Mille Feuille & " crème brûlée. Not very good. Bill was $320 Euros. I expected 5 star service and I got 10 stars instead. The service is outstanding, reminding me of Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, FL, but right here in Paris. Hemingway apparently ate here, but more importantly, my friends parents who considered this their favorite restaurant in Paris, close to Luxembourg park. Our walk-in attempt, right close to noon, when they open until 3 for the lunch hour. We were more casual (shorts) than what I think is expected and our meal was a success from start to finish. The starter, if that's what you call it was herring on a red lettuce leaf with a creamy base, similar to cream cheese. Plenty of bread and butter(on request). This is a $$$$ location and expected my meal to match the same expectations and I must say, I was blown away with the quality of food and the experience. Reservations are expected so arrive early for a chance our outside area filled up quickly and we sat right on the sidewalk, closest to the street. I was looking for shrimp and by mistake ordered a sample of oysters. I enjoy them broiled, these were super fresh of a variety. After the first one, that didn't go down so well, I mentioned I was really looking for shrimp , and I was. They did not disappoint as shrimp was not on today's menu but they came through! The head waiter and I"bonded" over this error, my error, and he really made the day. His English as poor as my French, and yet we understood each other. While in Europe I prefer sparkling water and my friend prefers still. Our Pinot Noir, from France, was excellent. Our main course was grilled scallops and mushroom risotto. Wow, was my reaction, delicious, start to finish and had I been more of a risk taker while in Port en Bessin, I could have had daily fresh scallops. The Napoleon dessert was enough for two and was superb as well. Everything, from start to finish was excellent and I would highly recommend this restaurant. This is a very fine restaurant no question. It is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the quality of the preparations is first rate, as are the ingredients. The resto also has a great history and is a landmark. So why not five stars? This is arguable. The menu is small and inflexible. This is not a brasserie, though it has some aspects of a brasserie. I did not enjoy my octopus creation, my entree. There is a certain air of the staff that they are the best and of course you will enjoy the food, as opposed to making sure you enjoy the food. If you don't like seafood don't bother. If you were just going for fresh seafood, for example one of the trays of seafood selections that brasseries offer, this is a five star place. My taking off a star is definitely questionable. BTW prices are very high by Parisian brasserie standards. You probablt have to try the place if you like seafood. It's that famous. read more

Le Dome is a must for Seafood Lovers! Le Dome is all about the freshest seafood and is famous for their raw bar offerings and seafood towers. My wife and I love oysters, but the oysters at Le Dome are exceptional. Our waiter was oh so helpful. He broke the ice by kidding us about a French menu -- since he thought we were French, and I returned the joke by saying that he was such a terrible liar. We started with a coup de Champagne and a dozen oysters (six different kinds, from six areas) that our waiter put together. We eat oysters on a regular basis, but nothing that I have ever had compared to these. The richness, the brightness of the sea, and the individual flavor profiles. When he returned to take the tray, he asked which was our favorite? All we said. Next up, the other reason we came to Le Dome -- the Sole Meuniere. Perfectly cooked on the bone in brown butter. Few places do it right, and as Patricia Wells and others have stated, Le Dome still does. A couple of glasses of affordable Macon Villages and we were in a blissful food coma. Not that we needed it, but some Bertillon sorbet and a cafe creme finished out our meal. For those who have never had Bertillon I envy you your first time. I feel compelled about the many negative reviews, primarily about service and price. First the service: if you thought your server was rude I have news for you -- IT WAS YOU! Leave your attitude at home. There is a reason that the "ugly American" moniker exists: condescending, loud talking and impolite. These are professional waiters. It is their career, and they take pride in what they do and the fact that they work for a renowned restaurant. All we did was be polite. We were on time for our reservation, A simple bonjour and a smile when we arrived, and an occasional merci throughout the meal. Pleases and thank yous like our mothers taught us. That's it. Secondly, the service speed. This is not a place you go for a rushed meal. That is not what Le Dome is about. Le Dome is about taking your time at the table, putting away your phone, and enjoying the meal with the person you are with. When you are finished you must ask for the check: "l'addition s'il vous plait." The French consider it rude to present the check until you ask for it. It is your table as long as you want it. And don't call out to your server, just make eye contact and they will respond. Finally, Le Dome is not inexpensive, but considering the quality of the products, the ambiance and the service, it is not expensive either. Our bill was under 220 euros for a dozen oysters, two whole orders of sole, two glasses of champagne, three glasses of wine, coffee and desert -- service compris. We left a 20 euro tip, not required but more than warranted. There are cheaper meals to be had in Paris and I will write about some others in the coming days. And while they were less expensive, they were all of the same level of experience, from simple bistros and wine bars to 3 star Michelin restaurants. Paris is a serious food culture. It is a place where people live to eat -- not eat to live. But in our experience, the servers take their job seriously but not themselves. And if this is not what you want, please go to Starbucks and McDonald's! read more

Went here for Christmas Eve for dinner. Seafood was our theme. We started with the large gillardeau oysters (with letter G layered on the outer shells). They were nice. We were given a cold amuse-bouche of a seafood salad with a radish garnish. We had the tandoori monkfish, sole (de-boned tableside), octopus with tomato salad, and lobster risotto. All tasted fine, but the monkfish came out cold. We had the chocolate gianduja Christmas dessert and the rum millefeuille. Not a fan of the latter, but the former could be eaten anytime of the year. This cafe across the street from La Rotonde is in a good location. Then again so are dozens of other street cafes. Yet here where the waiter barely looked at us and we inhaled smoke from our near by neighbor we drank two small glasses of champagne that cost 38e. Definitely not worth it. This is my new favorite brasserie, wow!!!! We had a great lunch here, absolutely great atmosphere. We had the specials of the day, both of us loved our lunches. I had the salmon over a rice with an incredible herby dressing, my husband had the cod over a puree of potato/root and also a delicious sauce. The stand out was the salad and tomato, so well prepared, with an awesome dressing. The sincerre we picked was excellent as well. We just loved our long lunch in such a glamorous setting, the service was excellent and the food exceptional. Will highly recommend this great spot in the Montpernasse neighborhood of famous brasseries. read more
