Amazing brunch! They have a great Vermentino at a reasonable price and some great traditional Sardinian dishes.

I have been extremely intimidated by the idea of eating out during a pandemic, even outdoors. Eating at Le Fanfare last night eased all my anxieties, and the delicious meal was such a special treat. There was even community bugspray on the patio to protect diners from mosquitos! The staff was extremely kind, cautious, and upbeat. We made friends with Carlos, who has an excellent sense of humor, and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Today, I was reminded to write this review when, getting hungry, I thought of the outstanding potato gnocchi I had with the side of slightly spicy, slightly sweet broccoli rabe. I don't live in Brooklyn but I will make a point of coming back here when I can. It's a place for respite in hard times. read more

I've been coming to Le FanFare I'd say about 20 times a year for over 5 years, and I just want to let the world know that this is one of the best restaurants in NYC, hands down. The food is delectable, the service is impeccable and welcoming, the ambiance second to none. Pre-pandemic, they had great live music every Friday and most Saturdays. I can't wait for that to return. You feel like you're in Paris and Milan at the same time with the décor. I especially like the Malloreddus, but please don't forget about the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara as far as their pastas are concerned. The Chicken and Steak mains are not to be overlooked as well. Basically every dish that they have here is perfect in every single way. My soon to be wife and I have had basically every major life event that included family (or just the two of us) at Le Fanfare over the years. Whenever our family is in from out of town - birthdays, her passage of the bar exam a couple of years ago, other friends' birthdays, baby showers, wedding showers, my bachelor party - all of these events we have hosted at Le Fanfare - and we will continue to host future events such as these at Le Fanfare for as long as we can in the future. The main thing I feel about Le Fanfare is how welcoming and wonderful that the staff at the restaurant have been each time that I've been in there. Not to mention how closely that they follow the CDC Covid protocols, keeping all of their staff and patrons safe. Plus, whomever chooses the lighting, music, and just overall feel of this place should be given a medal because it truly is wonderful. The only issue that I'm going to have here after the Pandemic diminishes (I can't wait!) is that Le Fanfare is just such a perfect place to dine that it will potentially be harder to get quick reservations to enjoy this fine establishment! It's my second time here but I couldn't resist congratulating Carlos and all the staff at Le Fanfare for this magical place. Went with my dog and a couple of friends with a dog and their one-year-old child. The food was gorgeous, the staff was kind attentive, and effective and they were super nice with the dogs. Exceptional service and food. Our first time here, celebrating our 2 year anniversary. Our waitress Liz provided great suggestions and was super friendly/attentive. She treated us to some complimentary Prosecco at the end (without knowing it was our anniversary--just because!) food was delicious we ordered Brussels sprout salad, hanger steak, carbonara, and tiramisu. Threw my wife a baby shower there. The service is great and the food is delicious. Would highly recommend for a private party. Le Fanfare is also great for date night. We've been there several times for dinner, and every time was as expected. We usually get the steak and its cooked to perfection. Only negative is they have a very limited number of tables for 2. The food here is consistently amazing, period. Its a definite cut above "good neighborhood restaurant." It's one of the best restaurants in greenpoint. I'm not that into pasta when I go out to eat but this pasta is exceptional; in the top 3 places in the city for pasta, but the entire menu is rock solid. I've eaten here repeatedly and have never been disappointed. Additionally the staff is always very friendly and fun to talk to. Great ambience as well. Not uptight at all but good people watching. I loved my experience at this restaurant. The staff was incredibly warm and friendly without being overbearing. The patio is beautiful. I had the cacio e Pepe and it was delicious. Love this place. They were able to seat us immediately and they had a great funky live band. The wine (Cabernet) was incredible and I got the pesto gnocchi. My friend got the duck pappardelle and it was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. The bread and hummus were also delicious. read more

My husband and I came to Le Fanfare hoping, based on the reviews, for a romantic date night in a wonderful ambiance. In fact, I can see from reading the reviews that the owner of the restaurant makes this a priority, and even commented on someone's post that they were being too loud and other customers had complained. However, upon getting to the restaurant, a man (clearly a regular based on the interaction with the bartender) walked into the bar. His volume was from the start completely out of control, it wasn't just that he was talking loudly (something I would never complain about), it was yelling and could be heard word for word from our dinner table. But more disturbing was the content of what he was saying. The man was shouting things like "suck my coc!"and doing impressions of "gay mexicans." Needless to say, it was highly offensive and throughout our entire dinner- appetizers to entree- we had to sit there and here this guy discuss offensive comments about women or his shouting impressions of people. All of this was upsetting enough, and it was clear from other tables and ourselves that the staff should have been aware as to how disturbing this was. However, instead of telling him to lower his volume or to please leave, the bartender indulged him and was laughing at his jokes. When we finally confronted the bartender about it, I explained that this was not something anyone going to a nice dinner should have to sit through. Not just the volume, but the contents of what he was saying. No one should pay nearly 100 dollars for a date, and have to hear someone discussing how he "fuc#s his GF...etc" in a screaming volume. It was degrading and offensive to any female patrons, and should not have been tolerated. The handling of the situation was beyond poor- the bartender was defensive and said this was the first time he's been like this in 4 years... that doesn't really matter, because he was like it that night and should have at least been asked to lower his volume so we all didn't have to be privvy to him screaming. We were given our one glass of wine for free, but frankly we should not have had to pay for a meal where we rushed to eat just to get out of an environment where someone screamed offensive comments and mocked gay people the entire dinner. Deeply disappointing for a restaurant that encourages people to vote on their instagram and seems to pride itself on being an open, liberal institution to not have stepped up to the plate when there was a moment where women were made to feel uncomfortable in the restaurant, and had the courage to say something about it. read more

The ambience is nice. The menu is......not super exciting. We ended up just ordering dessert. We ordered the chocolate ganache tart, tiramisu, and cannolis. Favorite Italian food place in Brooklyn! We went here when Naked Dog was busy and very rude. It was destiny - we prefer the food and service here! They are so friendly and accommodating! No idea what all the hype and good reviews are about. The waiter we had did not pay attention to a word we said. A few of our drink orders were wrong because of it. He overall seemed very confused. We all ordered something different and no one loves or even liked what they ordered. Other than the oysters, but can you mess that up? The only other good tasting thing was the side of potatoes. The smoked cheese in the beet salad tasted old. Mine and my brother's pasta dishes were not edible. Ugh. Wish they had riesling by the glass. I would not come here again. read more

The quality of the food is declining significantly, and the attitude from the servers is getting worse. Maybe not having been subject to a crowd caused the kitchen to not be prepared but we were seated at 1pm the waitress finally took our order at 135pm including our drinks. Our drinks arrived at 2pm. We were patient understanding they had a large party of 20 people inside restaurant but you can't ignore your other customers. No one came to apologize, we ordered another round of drinks at 230. Hoping they'd come explain, finally someone came to say that our food would be out shortly. At 245 we finally had our food which was 90 minutes after ordering. The waitress came and gave a rose champagne as an apology but personally they should have offered us the the four $12 drinks we would never had to order had our food come in time. The icing on cake the food was just okay. I ordered the frittata with arugula salad and potatoes. I wish I took a picture I swear there was 4 leaves of arugula on my plate. I love a good happy hour, and my friend Katie M. and I took advantage of the one at Le Fanfare for a Tuesday night dinner when I was in New York. We had a lovely meal and ended up staying way past happy hour--we had a lot to catch up on, and this was a pleasant place to do it. We showed up just before 7, which is I think when happy hour ended. The place was almost completely empty--both the spacious interior and the nice little patio. We sat at what might have been a communal table, but we never had to share it with anyone. Things picked up a bit as the night went on, but it was almost strangely calm the whole time we were there. I still liked the ambiance, though--the place was cute, and the energy was relaxing, particularly with a couple glasses of wine. Service was good. One waitress took care of everything, and she handled us professionally. She also made sure we knew happy hour was about to end when we walked in, and we ordered a good chunk of our meal off of that menu. We got three appetizers and two glasses of wine in some kind of package deal that ended up being under $30, so that worked out pretty nicely. I tried both the house white and the house red, and both were good, though I forget what they were. The appetizers came on one big platter, and they were reasonably portioned and easy to share. The best one (with the best value, too, as all the appetizers were priced the same) was a bowl of mussels with guanciale in tomato broth. The mussels were tasty, and I liked the flavorful broth. They came with this crackery bread that I didn't really understand, but we had some complimentary focaccia (served with a good but unidentified spread) that made more sense. The meatballs were also good, savory and juicy, made with a white wine glaze, lemon, and parsley. The only throwaway in the group was the ricotta toast with honey, which was sort of dry and bland. We shared two pastas off the regular menu for the rest of our meal, and these were excellent. The sweet pea agnolotti was the highlight of the meal, tender packets of pasta plump with a bright sweet pea purée, served with chiodini mushrooms, zucchini, bianca cheese, mint, and pisstachio. A perfect summer pasta, bursting with delicate flavors and textures. The pappardelle with crab and salmon roe was another great one, topped with dill, nori, and corn. The pasta was supple and satisfying, and surprisingly good with the salty roe and seaweed. I'm almost certain we had something for dessert, but I can't for the life of me remember. I think it was good, but clearly not that good. I was really happy with the meal overall, though I don't know that it's worth going to Greenpoint for if you're not already in the area (we were). Every item I've ordered at this place has been amazing. My only complaint is that there are too many things yummy things I want to eat off the menu and I can't! I can't say enough good things about the staff here! My friends and I threw a baby shower brunch for 25 adults and kids last Sunday, and not only did Nico and his staff graciously accommodated us to get into the space before they even opened to decorate, but also patiently waited for us when our mother-to-be arrived late and the brunch lagged on a bit later than we expected. Lots of places nickle and dime you for little things like helping cut/serve the cake or charging adult fares for kids too, and it really speaks to the kind of place Le Fanfare is that it does neither. Le Fanfare was an amazing venue for a large party. It's absolutely charming and the service is great. The food is solid. The decor is warm and cozy with contemporary industrial touches. On Fridays, there is live jazz, which is very cute. The kind that complements a room and doesn't overtake the dining experience. Basically Le Fanfare saved my 30th birthday party. I booked a 15 person dinner at a nearby restaurant (Glasserie) and they were shut down by the city and didn't notify me until 24 hours before the event. I reached out to Nico (the owner/manager?) and he saved the day! Less than 10 hours before the event, we figured out a set menu and he even printed out the individual cards for all my guests. Prices were great and there was a TON of food! He was so accommodating and helped me and my guests have a great time. I would highly recommend throwing big events here - even a lot of my guests said the same! This is a great venue too for just an intimate dinner if you're in the area. They have a cute backyard area too for when it's warmer! read more

Le Fanfare has easily become one of my favorite places in Greenpoint! I just had my birthday dinner there with a huge reservation and Nico was incredibly accommodating and responsive to all my concerns and questions! He also took the time to guide me through the group menu which took some back and forth before we got down to the right choices. We had a lot of shellfish allergies and vegetarians in the group, so he even accommodated for those changes. They made the table look beautiful with printed set menus on each plate, it felt almost like a wedding reception. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner. The food is incredible! From the kale salad, to the vegetarian pesto gnocchi, to the butternut squash ravioli, to the market fish, and oyster mushroom polenta. All my guests absolutely love it and had no complaints! The staff was quick and attentive. And the rosemary fizz cocktail was a big hit. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to book a big table, or for a quiet date night, and on the weekends for some live jazz. Le Fanfare - Italian Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I happened upon Le Fanfare during a long walk and decided it was a cute place to check out. Its received some nice PR from various foodies and was worth the journey North to try on a lovely Friday evening. I live about a 10 minute walk and love the idea of a rustic, yet modern, Italian restaurant with live music in my hood. I was able to secure a 9pm reservation on short notice, which was a plus. The restaurant is well designed and lovely. The decor alone is worth a stop in for a drink. The live jazz band was rather great, albeit noisy for a restaurant. It was a little difficult to hear my husband and friends speaking, which resulted in everyone talking VERY loudly throughout the establishment. We were seated immediately and our server came over with menus and water right away. My main issue with Le Fanfare is the wait time. It took at least 5 minutes to order drinks and then we waited about 10 minutes for them to arrive. We didn't order food until 10 to 15 minutes after we received our drinks. At this point, we were starving and really want to get our order in. I understand some restaurants do this to space our the meal and let the kitchen catch up with orders, but without even bread on the table I was feeling faint. We ordered dinner at around 9:35pm, 35 minutes AFTER we were seated. This is completely unacceptable. To start, the burrata appetizer was awesome. Fresh, gooey and everything you want in a burrata on bitter greens with a nice dressing. I personally can't eat this but my friends were all about it. Highly recommended. My husband and I ordered the Pappardelle, which I was able to get without cheese as I'm allergic. Our server was funny about it and teased me, which I appreciated. For a $15 dish, the serving was not satisfactory. It was exceptionally small and not filling at all. I know many Italian restaurants expect you to order the pasta as a starter to the meal, but the server never indicated that the portion size would be kid-sized. It was delicious, yes, but we had to get tacos later on that night to make up for the tiny portions here. And that's just sad. ::sigh:: I've been to many fresh-pasta restaurants in NYC and never walked away hungry even after appetizers, dessert and wine. If they upped their portion size by a quarter, it would have been better. Also note that there's just a bite or two of duck on this dish. So if you're expecting lots of succulent duck, don't get this dish. Mostly mushrooms and bits of carrot. My friends, however, were delighted with their meals. One ordered the hanger steak, which was so large that they couldn't finish it. (We were jealous). The other friend ordered the fish, which was just lovely. The food is very good, top quality with fresh ingredients. We were just disappointed on how long everything took and how small our pasta dishes were. But these are all things that can be quickly adjusted to make Le Fanfare an awesome restaurant for Greenpointers and New Yorkers alike. Overall, it was a fun date night out. I would come back again to listen to the music, and enjoy the nice atmosphere. Just be prepared for small portions and a long wait. read more

Loved this restaurant! Dropped in around 8:30 on a Friday night and at first was a bit taken aback because it was frankly empty. We almost reconsidered but seated anyway. Everything from the friendly and personable service, the delicious bread, apps and entrees, and the live music was perfect. The bread was delicious and had an amazing white bean dip to complement it. We shared a couple of apps such as the burrata and it was one of the best I've had and a great sized portion. Octopus was also delicious. My favorite app however were the mussels and I'll definitely order this again. We each ordered a pasta which was hand made and you could taste it. I had the squid ink. Portions on the pasta were a bit smaller but it was so filling we didn't need more. Drinks were reasonably priced with plenty of options. The server was married to the owner from Sardinia and when I told them I was visiting Italy later that summer he dropped by to say hello and give us a free round of limoncello. After about 30 minutes the restaurant was packed and the live music began. It made the place so much more fun and heightened the experience. Awesome Italian in North Greenpoint! Walking up to the recently opened Le Fanfare I see all the beautiful people getting out of black cars to mingle in the front bar area, the glass doors open to the street and Jazz music pours out onto the street from the six man band huddled in the rear. The Host found us among the bar patrons quickly seated us at a two top close to the music, then returned to playing the trumpet. The decor is classic cafe tiled floor and marble topped tables with contemporary stylish lighting. They have a large communal table, several two tops and a few booths. Every seat is full and the jazz band fills the space with life. The menu is contemporary/classic Italian, everything is seasonal and house made. We had Peroni, burrata with heirloom tomatoes, Squid ink Spaghetti with clams, arugula gnocchi with shrimp in garlic butter, lemon pistachio cannoli, and espresso. Everything was delicious and beautiful with fair pricing. I almost regret reviewing this place because I fear it will hasten my inability to get a table. read more

Delicious food but tiny portions. We came here for the first time a year or so ago, and all four of us ended up hungry for more. As I tried again a year later, I hoped that they'd gotten feedback about portion size, but unfortunately not. I ordered agnolotti and they came thinly spread on a small plate: I counted them: I had 7! ( they're like small raviolis) plus a lot of sauce, which was good, but the whole thing hardly covered the plate. We had a starter to share and an entree each, and we devoured up to the last crumb. I had this place bookmarked a long time ago and finally tried it today. We got there after 2pm on Saturday and still waited a little for seating. There seems to be only two servers available. Nobody came to refill the water or asked us if we need anything. We actually had to leave our seats to get the server ourselves to put in our dessert order. The food was mediocre. We ordered grilled octopus, malloreddus, whole wheat pappardelle and tiramisu. We also wanted to order mussels, but it's only served during the dinner time. Not sure why, but it's ok. I wasn't impressed by any dishes that we ordered. Tiramisu was most disappointing, and I couldn't even finish it. It looks plain and tastes flavorless. I'm giving this place two stars: one star for the ambiance - the greenhouse set up for outdoor dining in the backyard was cute; the other star for following the covid guidelines and making it a safe place for dining during the pandemic. read more
