Entering to jazz playing and not so loud ambiance with a few friends. I love it We were settled next to the jazz band which plays every Saturday night as I was told. We were hungry therefore ending with just 4 cocktail ($13 each) and a dessert. Drinks are decent. My friends gave in and went for a pasta which is delicious. Please read this everyone. This restaurant is really racist! I'm beyond shock to experience this from what appear to be a decent restaurant. I waited for 10 mins for the staff to check me in for my reservation. The service staff (all three saw me) completely ignored me. When 2 white people walked in 10 mins after me, 2 service staff immediately greeted them and proceeded to seat them. When I point this out, the waiter asked me to leave if I don't like it! I'm Asian and I am beyond disgusted by their outrageous racist! Not in NYC! Anyone would raise their voice after they were being discriminated against and asked to leave! This is discrimination! Few and far between would go the lengths Le Fanfare does. I went from planning a small dinner for three to a larger surprise dinner with a group of 15. With less than a week's notice, Nico went above and beyond to accommodate my requests. Everything was covered- from the smallest of details to the largest. The largest:The same night a bigger party of 30 had a prior reservation. Nico snagged us a spot in the backyard. The smallest: Personalized menus were printed declaring it was my mom's big 6-0! The dining area in the backyard was just was the party needed. The live music echoed in the background like a perfectly executed movie soundtrack. Lights were strung up ever so dearly. Nico even allowed us to hang some of our decorations for the surprise birthday! The hostess went along with the ruse and told my mom her table for three was in the back. All the guests were able to stand off to the sides to remain unseen until the big reveal. The night went off without a hitch. We were all well catered to. The meal was served family style. It truly felt as if we were eating at a loving grandparent's home and less so at a Brooklyn restaurant. When dishes were low, more would follow. Bottles were purchased and Paulina always made sure to make her glasses were filled to the brim. Afterwards, my guests flooded my ear and my inbox with praise about the food. I would gladly feast on that burrata for the rest of my days and take afternoon dips in that white wine glaze that adorned the meatballs. I'm so thankful to the whole Le Fanfare family for taking such good care of us and organizing the whole night. Cozy interior! Enjoyed the pocket type ravioli filled with sweet potato- that was the favorite, a MUST order! The gnocchis were delicious, more of a thick pesto sauce- super soft and melt in your mouth type gnocchi which is the best. We held our Welcome Dinner at Le Fanfare for our close friends and family that traveled to Brooklyn for our wedding and I can't tell you how easy it was to work with Nico and his team at Le Fanfare. I came here on a crowded Saturday night after an awesome scooter ride. We had to sit at the bar for dinner as there were no seats available in the main dining area. I didn't mind. (Although it does feel pretty tight by the bar when others are also eating and not just drinking.) Our bartender was a cool chick. Maybe a little bit too cool for me... Le Fanfare did not disappoint one bit!! The ambiance is so intimate and cute but I have to say we were taken a little aback when it was entirely empty but were asked if we made a reservation. I mean, why? It was empty. That quickly changed and we realized that live music we begin at 8:00. The food was very good and the Moscow mules I drank were divine. I don't even care that they weren't served in the traditional mug I have grown accustomed to. We shared the Baccalaú Croquettes and they were superb. I loved the flavor of the fish and the slightly salty leafy lettuce as a garnish. For dinner, we shared the risotto in a lemon saffron sauce with pecorino and salmon roe. The flavor was robust and the risotto perfectly cooked but it could have used more roe and possible even a few shrimp to really take this to a whole other level. The squid ink pasta with mussels and green chili was awesome and my favorite. I loved the slight crunch of the garlic and chili, the mussels tender and the squid ink pasta so delicious. However, when the duo took the stage and began playing jazz and crooning, wow! I loved the live music and was so impressed with their level of talent. Came here for national pasta day!!!! It was a $10 pasta night as well so the place was packed up! I don't remember what I ordered but it was very delicious. I had this restaurant bookmarked for a while, after months ago I stopped in front of it and check out the menu. I remember seeing on the menu some special handmade pasta (that you can usually get just in some regions of Italy,) and I was sold to try it. I finally had dinner here with a couple of friends recently, and the overall experience was great. The place is really cute with a lovely environment and decors. Loved the lights flowers, table plates all different. It really makes you feel in special homie place. The menu is fairly limited to a few options, but they all looks great. We all get a main dish and some olives as appetizers. We also shared a bottle of Sardinian wine. Olives were amazing, as well as 3/4 of our dishes. I loved my malloreddu handmade pasta with sausage sauce, as well as the pappardelle with mushroom. One of us got a sandwich which apparently had a tasty meat in it, and the forth of us had a carbonara that didn't look too tasty. I will definitely want to come back and try more dishes and desserts! read more

Very cute atmosphere, but the food was just not on par. There were a couple hits but I would say mostly misses. We walked in here very enamored with the setup. It is right across the street from Milk and Roses and seemed like a good food choice for our little party of four. We ordered family style, starting with some appetizers. We ordered the kale salad and the grilled octopus. The kale salad was straight up just kale, croutons, and shredded cheese with a light dressing. I wouldn't be terribly opposed to just the simplicity of the dish, but the croutons were pretty much the most disgusting croutons ever. They were very hardened stale pieces of bread drenched in cheap olive oil. Even the olive oil did not soften the bread. There was no flavor, just olive oil. It was greasy, but sandy. It was so difficult to keep in my mouth, that I decided not to swallow. The grilled octopus was six chunks of octopus on some mixed greens but for a simple dish, this one was done much better than the kale salad. I felt the best part of this dish was their choice of sliced fresh fennel that lent the salad a freshness and crunch that would not have been there otherwise. We also ordered three pastas to share with a side of cauliflower. The cauliflower was a little bland but edible. The pastas we ordered were the squash ravioli, the squidink pasta and the cavatelli. Out of the three, the squidink pasta was the best in flavor and consistency. We really enjoyed it and the clams, albeit unseasoned, were fine that way. They were nice and fresh tasting alongside the thin squidink noodles. The ravioli had a nice sauce, but the overall dish was bland and under seasoned. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but the flavor wasn't there. The reason I note that the pasta was cooked well, was because the cavatelli wasn't. The cavatelli had a beautiful flavor, but the noodles they brought to us were very under done. Having had amazing cavatelli, I knew that this was beyond al dente. They were hard nuggets and almost unchewable in the center. I had it sent back and when they brought it back, the noodles were finally able to be forked through. I felt it was still a little underdone, but if that is how they prefer their pastas, I was willing to give it a shot. The sauce was very well seasoned and I loved the richness the sauce lent the dish, however I would still call this a miss. We also ordered a pork loin to share. It came with Brussel sprouts in a sweet glaze. I felt they executed this dish the best out of all the dishes besides the squidink pasta. The pork was cooked perfectly and the meat was tender. My friends had wine and cocktails. I think they enjoyed the ginger smash cocktail more than the wine. The bill was a little over $150.00. For a nice place to sit and enjoy the ambience...I would give it a shot, but for someone who loves their food...In the words of yelp, "meh. I've experienced better." read more

Wait a second. I haven't written a review for Le Fanfare yet? How's that possible. I've been coming here for the last three years. At least once a month. Sometimes I sneak out of the house late a night for the carbonara or cacio pepe. But mostly I come here for dinner with friends or special occasions. Lately they stepped up their cocktail game. Entirely new menu. Refreshing. One warning. Be sure to call ahead to make sure there's not a social event. They are closed down sometimes for private events. It's not often but if you're coming out of your way (and anywhere in Greenpoint is out of the way), it's annoying if it's closed to the public. Luckily for me I live next door. read more

I did not expect such a cute place exist in this neighborhood! Love the decor, the service and food! The grilled octopus was so delicious. I have tried grilled octopus in various restaurants LIC/ Greenpoint neighborhood and I would say this is the best I have had so far! The squid ink spaghetti was so flavorful. The mussels came with the spaghetti were really fresh. We tried the chocolate ganache tart - the tart wasn't my favorite but the chocolate was pretty good! A neighborhood gem! In north Brooklyn there are tons of places popping up but non have made themselves a staple in the way that Le Fanfare has. The ambiance is wonderful an intimate beautiful decorated dining room with modern cocktails and bar. The food is exceptional and the serve better. I had this place bookmarked for a long time before making my way here. The good thing is they have a short yet fine happy hour menu. Mostly drinks but that's all good. We got the Italian spritz, it was my first time order g that kind of drink at all, and it was not too bad! I can def understand the hype now. As for appetizers we went with the Brussels sprouts. And for the main course we did pasta - cacio e pepe. It was good. The pasta texture tasted a little dense but the overall flavor was amazing, and the melted cheese was so yummy. I'm glad I went with that than the risotto option. Dessert I was not too impressed with. Aside from food: live music is good but also didn't recognize there was one until we got the bill and it's encourage you tip the musician. This service was a bit on the slower side - food came out slower than I anticipated to be honest. Staff seem French and friendly folks. Cost? Moderate $$. read more

What a cute little place! Came here for brunch today. My friend had ricotta pancakes and i got baked eggs with marinara sauce and mozarella. Both dishes were amazing! Some people mentioned the size of portions being too small. I disagree. I think the portions are just right to leave you pleasantly full and not disgustingly full when you fall into food coma :) Bloody mary was delicious. Perfectly spicy with none of that tons of BS garnish. Just perfect! Also at the end they brought us complimentary mozarella cheese with sun dried tomatoes, olive oil on a chip. Unfortunately can't remember exact description but they did say something was from Sardinia. Bottom line, it was very sweet of the chef and of course yummy! Oh! And the band! Aside from the food, the vibe is vibrant and bubbly (even during COVID) - the team is so friendly and pleasant to be around. The neighborhood of Greenpoint, in Brooklyn, isn't as remote as people think! It's actually only 1 stop away from the trendy Williamsburg, through the G line! It's definitely one of the spots that makes you feel as if you're faaaar away from New York City. The restaurant, Le Fanfare, was founded by the same owners of Epistrophy, that we wrote about a while ago. They have a great Italian menu - created by Chef Adam Ross - and wine list, plus, Jazz music nights that is surely one of the highlights. We went there for an early dinner and we had: the kale chips, artichoke with peas and onions, a vegan pasta with vegetables and some wine! We tried the house-made bread that was actually the only non-vegan option. They have two huge communal tables made out of beautiful wood and the ambiance is sophisticated but also cozy, with a cool bar upfront. Good news! We stopped by here around noon on a Saturday and plenty of seats were available. Orders were quickly taken and our food came soon after. We had lattes, stuffed french toast, lemon ricotta pancakes and rosemary potatoes. Stuffed French toast was divine - it was stuffed with Nutella after all. The lemon ricotta pancakes were much smaller than I expected it to be but it was heavy so I couldn't finish all three pieces. I would skip the rosemary potatoes as they tasted lackluster. The food's terrific but the decor and ambiance feel like an un-finished co-working space. I'd give it four stars but being inside the restaurant felt so weird that even great food couldn't save it. The food is played nicely and tastes great. I don't know if I've ever ordered a steak that I thought looked beautiful when it arrived before. It made me think of a food that might be eaten in a fantasy novel. The music choices were all solid English punk and post-punk hits. Lot of Echo and The Bunnymen. The waiter seemed kinda tired but it was late and sometimes people aren't having a good day. The look and feeling of the restaurant are just kinda odd in a way that feels cold, unfinished and like it was done on the cheap. The choice of floor tiles, the slatted wooden benches, the low-hanging light sources and the blank, undecorated grey wall all make it feel like the opposite of the warmth you typically get from Italian restaurants. I found myself looking at every light switch cover, molding and everything and thinking "Why is this in this restaurant?" A lot of the dinner conversation was dedicated to trying to figure out why the restaurant looks the way it does. When the check came it was rolled into a little tube that was tied up with a string. This ridiculous and tacky affectation made my dinner guest laugh. The food's incredible but I will probably never eat here again just because it looks like the set of the Room or some other low budget movie. Anella and Naked Dog are nearby and serve food of a similar quality in a prettier setting. read more

We had French toast with Nutella ( which didn't taste like Nutella at all) ricotta pancakes which were extremely dry and steak and egg...steak was delicious but the potato side was cold and without any flavor. Had the best date night with my hubby here last night. We had been to their sister restaurant epistrophy many times this summer but never to this location. We sat in a lovely garden in the back of the restaurant. Food and drinks were amazing. We had the carbonara which was perfectly al dente and just the right portion size, and the steak which was medium rare and delicious. Homemade cannolis for desert. All in all a wonderful meal. Ugh really upset with my brunch this morning! I have been here a few times and always love the atmosphere and decor! The cocktails are really fantastic so don't hesitate to enjoy their bar! We arrived at 11:20 and the restaurant had two people seated in the restaurant total. No problem for me and it's an early brunch time for a Sunday. We waiting for two other people to arrive and asked to be seated for four. The waitress asked if my other party was going to be arriving soon very intensely... Since the restaurant was completely empty besides two other patrons I didn't think being seated immediately would be an issue. The waitress hesitantly seated us on the communal table. I was starving and decided to order the buratta and drinks to tide me over before my friends arrived. Luckily it was very delicious. However... The table order 3 different brunch entrees 1. Zucchini pancakes with salmon and a poached eggs. It was super bland and just overall gave me a gross feeling... 2. Veggie frittata with potatoes. Very underwhelming and a very small egg portion. 3. Two orders of the "flat bread" it is like 3 crepes with very bland tomato sauce and over easy eggs on top. It was not only underwhelming, but very mushy and bland... Out waitress was really unfriendly and impatient! Our total bill for 4 people was $140 pre-tip and we all have terrible stomach aches.
