Le Fanfare is an excellent restaurant! I have gone a few times now and every time I am not disappointed. The service is amazing, the food is delicious, and the cocktails are incredible! Their thyme margarita is to die for, it's a must! Delicious desserts! Great ambiance with this restaurant too. The outside was a bit deceiving at first but the inside is very intimate and lovely; it is beautifully designed. Perfect location too, just walk a few blocks down, you can walk along the water and have an amazing view of NYC skyline. I will be back! read more

Le Fanfare hit all the right spots for the bf on our Friday date night! We don't usually venture to Greenpoint but this experience definitely made us want to explore the neighbourhood more. We made it with a few minutes to spare before happy hour ended and our waiter made sure to inform us we still had time and didn't rush us one bit. We went for a glass of delicious Pinot Grigio, ginger smash cocktail and the happy hour portion of their white wine meatballs. Now I'm usually critical of meatballs because they can often be dry and bland but wow, was this the opposite! The white wine glaze with lemon that Le Fanfare served was deeelish! We shared one appetizer (burrata), a pasta dish (duck pappardelle), an entree (hanger steak), and dessert (strawberry panna cotta). I had their special watermelon cocktail that was truly one of the best cocktails I had in a while! Not too sweet and refreshing for a summer evening. The burrata was super fresh and a great portion that was well balanced with the tomatoes and peaches. The duck pappardelle was a gorgeous thin wholewheat pasta. I would've liked to have seen more duck but the flavour was great. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and sat on a bed of rosemary roasted potatoes. As we wrapped up with strawberry panna cotta, we enjoyed the live music. Wish we could've stayed longer! There's a charming outdoor seating area and the restaurant is tastefully decorated in an industrial chic design. I'm sure if this spot was in Manhattan there would be a line out the door! Lovely meal out in the garden. Pappardelle was delicious. Service was prompt and we could hear the live jazz band through the open door.

Pasta night was a bust. The $10 pasta menu did not have a simple pasta option for my son. So we ordered a pasta with just tomato sauce or the Malloreddus w/out the meat. They ended up charging me full price for the Malloreddus. I brought this up to my server and she wasn't interested in changing the price. Only a $6 dollar difference but really took the fun out of pasta night. With that being said the pasta dishes were pretty tasty. Advice to staff/ownership try to be a bit more flexible. There are a lot of options in Greenpoint. Great customer service will keep people coming back. read more

Very cute Greenpoint atmosphere but I would not return. Had a 6:30 dinner reservation for 2. Upon arrival we were seated at a community table. There was only 1 other table dining in the entire place. The woman that seated us told us the other tables were reserved. I sort of insisted that we would really just appreciate a table for 2 which she then obliged, but seemed a little bothered that I had asked for that. The next issue was the size of the these smaller tables. When we actually sat down they were so tiny that it felt as if I was eating off a bed side night stand. You could barely fit a glass of wine and an entree on it. It was so tiny that our single little flower slightly caught on fire by the tiny votive candle because there was just no room for anything on the table. I believe investing in slightly bigger tables would make a world of a difference. Also not sure if the AC wasn't working but the temperature was pretty stuffy. Next, the food. Ordered the happy hour meatballs which consisted of 4 mini meatballs in a bowl with a brown sauce/gravy. Not much flavor but cute presentation. For the entree, I did the $10 pasta. It's nice that they offer 3 different $10 pasta dishes but they are $10 for a reason. I ordered the pasta in cream sauce with Brussels sprouts and tomatoes which I felt was a weird combo and not what the waiter suggested but felt it was a good option. You can't mess up pasta in a garlic cream sauce. It was decent, but lacking any flavor. The wine was good and they do offer a lot of cocktails. Our waiter was also very nice but unfortunately the whole experience was just really lacking and wouldn't go back. read more

what a lovely place... you can feel the love and care of whoever is behind it by looking at the details around you. in fact, my (italian) husband and i loved it so much that we had my birthday party there a couple of weeks ago. Foodwise, it feels like "la mama" is cooking in the kitchen. believe me, we are all foodies and everything we shared, we loved. i especially recommend the Spaghetti Neri with Clams and the Hanger steak, but the octopus is delicious, and i remember my friends loving the chicken and the fish too. 3 stars almost seems like too many because it implies I might come back one day. Sadly this spot was really disappointing, but I'll give it the third star for the great decor/ ambience/ live music. The service was mediocre. But not even great service could have redeemed the food that night to start we shared octopus (fine), polenta (what was in this? Lumps of blue cheese?), burrata (cheese was fine but instead of being served with bread it was served with like rings of squash or a similar veg? The veg was luke warm and cheese had clearly come straight out of fridge how must we eat this?), meatballs (fine) and then bread for the table that was stale (they brought another batch when we pointed it out). So underwhelming. For mains, I had the gnocchi. Man, I hate a bad gnocchi. The pasta itself was cooked fine but it came in a terrible pesto. There was so much pesto I scooped it to the side of the plate to avoid. It was chewy and lumpy and just not well prepared. The table also ordered the malloreddus which was average, and the carbonara which was fine. Those last 2 dishes were smaller portions than we were expecting. Highlight of the evening was the chocolate ganache tart. Could have had two of those. So many other great spots in greenpoint, this was not worth it for us. read more

So I've always walked by this place and thought should we go in? But the crowd and drinks always looked mediocre so we never did. So one night they had live jazz New Orleans style and thought that'd be fun. Upon entering, immediate mistake. There was a bartender who "greeted" us but wasn't very friendly. We asked to sit in a booth bc it was close to the end of the night and they were all empty. She passive aggressively asked us to sit at the bar. It's a Saturday night, not looking to fight, so whatever we sat at the bar. Then the second bartender took our drink orders and was also unfriendly ( and looked like Snookie?) at a certain point we were like hey we paid for our drinks no one is at the booths we can't hear each other sitting four across and they were finally "agreed" to let us sit at a booth. At the end of the day the drinks aren't good, the atmosphere is always wanting and forced for the neighborhood, and the staff isn't friendly. It's just like why bother when there are great neighborhood bars and restaurants all over Greenpoint that have amazing food, drink and service. I often wonder why this place chose this neighborhood and how they're still in business? read more

Le Fanfare hosted my girlfriend's 30th birthday. It was the perfect setting - from the candles, and the live jazz to the wonderfully friendly staff. The food was incredibly tasty, yet reasonable, and everyone person in our 14 person party left pleasantly full. I'd also add that the cocktails were outstanding. Really pretty restaurant. My girlfriend and I shared some apps and a pasta dish. We had a very delicious dessert and we each had about a bottle of wine (yikes!). We did not feel rushed at all. The staff was very sweet and we were the last table to leave. We also got very lucky as someone was singing live that evening. They also have a backyard. We came to Le Fanfare as an 8 people party. After notorious "whatever" dining experiences in that part of Brooklyn, I was just glad that I managed to make a Saturday night reservation two days before my boyfriend's birthday. When we showed up at the door we felt like we're taken care of right from the beginning as the hostess was warm and helpful with our showing-up-late guests. Pauline was our server and she went out of her way to pay attention to our occasion (the place + the patio we're packed). She explained is the dishes in a painterly way so we ended up choosing dishes we were very happy with. The food was UNBELIEVABLE, you could taste you're doing your body a favor by eating something so healthy and ethically conscious. Just when we thought we were at the top of our expectations, we asked the server to bring the dessert as a surprise to my boyfriend. She offered us to ask the live performers to sing a beautiful Happy Birthday, and the whole restaurant sang along with us for my boyfriend. I had an incredible time in Le Fanfare, I've never had such sense of community and welcoming in any other restaurant. From the ambiance of the restaurant to the great service to the food (omgosh the food)... cannot be more grateful for this experience offered by Le Fanfare. This is not a typical Italian restaurant where all dishes are heavy and filled up to cover every inch of the plate. We hosted our post-wedding brunch at Le Fanfare a few weeks ago. Booking the event was quite easy and the owner, Nico, was super nice, prompt and accommodating. He showed us the restaurant personally, personalized our menu wishes, answered emails quickly and did not request a security deposit or contract for our party (unlike other restaurants we considered). The restaurant is super cool and provided an intimate space for our families. Our post-wedding brunch was supposed to serve as a warm conclusion of our wedding festivities from the night before and as a way of thanking our guests for supporting us throughout. The food was good. Unfortunately, our waitress was very moody and unfriendly, so that I ended up feeling embarrassed in front of our guests. She was quite snippish and irritable, and seemed annoyed by the simplest questions and requests we had. We are a very easygoing crowd, but even when she had to explain something twice, she seemed unreasonably annoyed. I also asked if I could take home one of our individualized menus and she said to me 'You already have one.' (which was bent and dirty, I just wanted one 'nice' one as a memory for our wedding album), and so she annoyingly threw the entire pile of menu cards in front of me on the table. A simple smile and 'of course' would have made my day :( read more

We went to Le Fanfare for Easter Brunch, our third visit to this little gem in Brooklyn, and had the most magnificent time! My husband, a connoisseur of the Bloody Mary, found his to be right on point and this set the stage perfectly for the rest of the afternoon. Everything we ordered was delicious and the staff was attentive, friendly and very well informed. If I could complain about anything it would be a party of 5 seated nearby who caused such a scene I was literally embarrassed for them-by the end of the meal it seemed that their only intention was to try to get as much free "stuff" as they could while making everyone else around them as uncomfortable as possible. The manager (Carlos?) should be granted Knighthood for his aplomb dealing with this terror of a table! Bottom line: Le Fanfare is a treasure and we will be back soon and often (and hopefully without the cranks anywhere to be seen!) read more
