Store front is under construction at the moment. Chocolate chip, chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal raisin and salted caramel cookies and an oat milk latte. C$34.84 The cookies look a tad burnt on a few cookies. They smell amazing. Seating for cookie, sandwich, salad and coffee enjoyment. The smell inside is worth a visit. The oatmeal cookie was dry, so was the chocolate walnut, which I believe is one of the factories here. Perhaps it was a two off, as I was wishing I had only bought one of these. The chocolate cookie is the better of all of the cookies, just a tad over baked is all. The salted caramel is not special. Suffice to say, the chocolate cookie is worth a try, but take a pass on the rest of them, wasn't worth it for us.
Le Gourmaud in Toronto is a great cafe, and seems like a popular spot for Torontonians. We only spent 24 hours in Toronto, and this is one of the great stops that we made. I love Canadian pastries, because they are not as sweet as the ones in the US, and I'm not really a person who is big on sweets and desserts. My family and I stumbled upon this gem after eating at a spot on Queen Street, Walking by, we saw the sign outside saying "world-famous cookies," wnd decided to go in to try some of them. We ordered oatmeal raisin, white chocolate macadamia, and chocolate chip cookies, as well as an orange muffin. At first, I was not really excited about ordering anything, but since we were only visiting Canada for a couple of hours, I gave in, and I'm so glad I did! The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, it had crispy edges with a gooey center that wasn't overly soft. My parents loved the oatmeal raisin cookies, and my uncle and aunt, who initially passed on ordering, couldn't resist running back to get their own pastries once he tasted the muffin. In fact, he and my aunt stocked up on cookies and muffins before we left for New York. Le Gourmaud is a quiet and nice cafe with incredible pastries. I did not have the chance to try their sandwiches this time, but it's definitely on my list for my next visit to Toronto. If you're in the area and looking for top-tier baked goods in a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must!
I hate giving low reviews but this place is so awful. We also visited twice (not by my choice), so unfortunately, I know it is not a fluke. First, you have to traverse through a bunch of construction to find it (not their fault but does not help with the overall experience). All the tables were dirty from previous patrons, and we didn't see anyone wiping them down the two times we were there. You bus your own tables and the bussing station is in a similarly sorry state. They're also not that busy so not sure why the service is so awful. The blonde cashier that we encountered twice was just chatting with the other staff rather than taking our order. When she finally paid attention to us, she was unnecessarily cold like we were bothering her. Again, this happened twice. The first time we went, we only ordered a cookie and a cappuccino. The coffee was mid and the cookie took so long the another staff member noticed and apologized, which was nice of her. The second time we went, the sandwiches behind the glass looked sad, so I got the kathu roti, which was drowning in sauce and became very unpleasant to eat midway through. My partner got the egg bacon croissant - the eggs were rubber, croissant was also mid, and the whole thing was too salty. They also called the wrong order number (we were the only ones waiting for food). The only good thing about this place is the cookies (which bumped this up to two stars) but not worth the troubles.
I come here occasionally for coffee or for their famous walnut chocolate chip cookies. The cookies definitely are delicious and high quality, but I wouldn't say they're the best in the city. They actually taste better the next day in my opinion. Service here is always friendly and fast even on the weekends when it can get busy. There's a good amount of seating for small groups inside as well as a few tables outside. The building is undergoing renovation, but it's still open
To sum things up, the food here was great, but my experience dining in left a lot to be desired. The way the restaurant is run is a bit disorganized, which is particularly noticeable when it is busy. We waited for around 20 minutes to get our food, and were not able to hear our order being called when it was ready. There was also limited seating available, especially since this is both a cafe and brunch spot. I tried the Kothu Roti and Creme Brulee French Toast, both of which were delicious. I also tried their much hyped chocolate chip cookie, which was amazing. Since it is worth trying, I'd highly recommend just getting their food to go.
I am so happy that Le Gourmand on Spadina Ave. is still here after all these years! It used to be my second office for over 10 years where I did sketches for my illustration business and had many meetings here since it opened in 2002. I loved getting their delicious Balzac's Farmers Blend with just a little honey early in the mornings and loved all their freshly baked treats! Today I enjoyed their famous giant chocolate chip cookie still hot from the oven and so crispy and chewy at same time. But it wasn't as giant as I remembered so I hope it was an off day for the baker. Also had their chocolate bomb that unfortunately didn't come warmed up as they usually are so it wasn't great. But the European atmosphere and warm ambiance hasn't changed one bit. It always feels like I've stepped into Paris when I walked in. My visit brought back many happy memories. I do miss the founder of Le Gourmand Milton Nunes who was always so friendly to me and everyone who came in the café. He sadly passed away in March 2019 at age of 47. Rest In Peace Milton, please know that your delicious legacy is alive and well!
Love, love this spot. Their coffee is great and your cannot beat their baked goods. Located just south of Queen on Spadina, it's just off the streetcar spot. It's a local fave. Easily noted by the stream of customers - many just taking out. Beyond the coffee and baked goods. You can also enjoy some other options like breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict in the morning and a variety of luncheon items (soups, salads, sandwiches and light lunch fare). I've been going here for a while, and I've never had a bad meal or snack here. Fyi their chocolate chip cookies are the best! Today we had coffee, croissants and a lemon bichon. All great. And I couldn't resist. Some pastries were brought home. Don't look any further for a great French bakery.
A small coffee shop near chinatown, with a fair amount of seating and seems to be a place where people go to work as well. I got the white chocolate matcha which was part of their spring menu - 4.5/5 loved it! I also got the apple tart which I would rate 3/5 - tasted ok but wish it was warmed up which would've made it taste better since it was kind of hard cold but I didn't realize until I had left. They had a few other items on their spring menu that I think is limited time, would come back again if I'm passing by
This place is awesome. I was staying nearby and after my flight home got delayed, I wanted to squeeze in some work and breakfast before hitting the road. I found this spot on Yelp and arrived around 8:30-9am. It was right off Spadina and was easy to spot... next door to a Starbucks. Why would anyone choose the big box coffee shop over the little guy? I will never understand. The space is big with a giant area filled with seats and tables for dining and cranking out some work. There is a long L shaped counter with pastries behind it as well as the register/pick up area, and a small kitchen. There was a bit of a line when I got there but it moves pretty fast. I ordered an egg and cheese croissant and their turmeric latte. The service was fast af. I went to set up my laptop and hadn't even noticed them call my name because it was so quick. My sandwich was great and I ate every single bite. My latte was not very sweet at all and the turmeric was very forward. I also drank that down to the very last drop. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again!
It easy very windy today when we past by we saw this SINGLE fried donut (Berliner) with custard like filling thru the window and I thought "wow that's beautiful and it's only one left so I gotta try it", went in and saw the trophy for best choco chip cookie award, why make a choice if I can get both?;) Berliner is actually not as crispy as I expected it to be but it is very delicious but THE CHOCOLATE COOKIE!!!!!!!!!! That is a 6 star cookie for sure. After one bite and I was just in tears! Why haven't my foodie friends told me about this gem? I'm never going to other places to eat choco chop cookie again this will be my go to! It is huge, and the chocolate are so gooey but the dough is so crunchy, perfect flavor and texture! 12/10

Doing a cookie tour as all cookie fanatics do, this was rated highly and on many Toronto blogs so I gave it a try. They were good, tasted nice and homemade, I was getting a burnt/ stale flavor in mine which turned me off a bit, however my family loved the cookie so maybe it was just me. 7/10 for cookie. Cafe itself very cute they have lots of options, I would definitely check it out if you're in the area. I wouldn't make a drive for it personally. read more
The chocolate chip cookies here are worth the hype. They are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. If you can't eat them right away, they are excellent with a few seconds in the microwave. Ps. They also sell Venezia bakery Portuguese tarts. read more
I agree 100% with the fact that they have good chocolate chip cookies. Can't deny that. Husband and I got a chocolate chip cookie and a bar or dark chocolate lavender and they both were very good. The chocolate chip cookie is soft and chewy with LOTS of chocolate and crispy ends. HOWEVER, this place has SUCH HORRIBLE SERVICE. When we were in line to order, the lady at the cashier didn't make eye contact, wasn't really willing to answer our questions, and when we asked if we had to sign the receipt (because we used an American credit card), she just shrugged and really didn't answer. read more

This is a go to place when I'm craving a quality brunch meal. My boyfriend and I always share the blueberry ricotta pancakes, the kotu roti and of course a chocolate chip cookie!! The pancakes - so fluffy and fresh. The blueberry, lemon and ricotta is a perfect mix and satisfies the sweetness you're looking for in a brunch meal. The kotu roti - so plentiful, have always gotten a pretty big portion and really flavourful. Chocolate chip cookie - I think they've won best cookie in Toronto, but if not it's definitely won best cookie in my eyes!! Somehow they manage to make their cookies perfectly crunchy on the outside and easily gooey on the inside. Mmmmmmm mmm! read more

Cute - Busy - Trendy I could only give Le Gourmand 3 stars because I only grabbed a coffee here during a quick meeting. I've heard a lot about the Le Gourmand cookies, but didn't opt to grab one. But I will say based on the show case they looked amazing. A hefty palm sized cookie backed with chocolate chips and walnuts. It really reminded me of the cookies I had in NYC at Levain cookies. Just thick and gooey! Walking in, the place has a very eclectic hipstery vibe mixed with an old school Italian bakery. The walls were stacked from floor to ceiling with dark wooden shelves. Boxes of oat, soy and almond milk are on the shelves, packages got a drip coffee. Of coffee and other decor. The few tables for seating were close together and all full. They're super small but because of the area it looks like people come here for meetings. I grabbed a drip coffee which I was excited for since drip is usually stronger than conventional brewed coffee. I believe a small was $2, but honestly it was kind of weak. They have 3 different roasts so I'm not sure which one I got so maybe ask for the dark roast? Lactose free milk, agave and simple syrup are notable mentions for add ins. Overall, this place is v accessible since it's right on Spadina. Grab a cookie then tell me about it. read more

Hands down the BEST cookies in the city. I've tried a ton and these are definitely the top. They are perfectly ooey gooey in the middle and crispy on the outside - they probably achieve this by slightly undercooking but I'm all for it. They are HUGE! Price is around $3.65 plus tax I believe. They do offer a few types of cookies but I like the classic. A tip: try to eat at least one as soon as you get it so you can fully experience how good it is. I've taken one home and the gooey factor goes away with time but it still does taste delicious. The cafe is nice as well, they offer sandwiches and quiches - which also look great. read more

First of all, if you can get here by opening, the aroma is amazing of all the fresh croissants. I would highly recommend getting them as close to opening as possible as later in the day, the croissants aren't as fresh and tasty. I love the plain butter croissants, they are fluffy and big. I personally didn't like the chocolate croissant as much, but I also got it near the end of the day so it may have been sitting out all day. The cookies are also amazing. I've also ordered iced matcha lattes and they're also very tasty. It is always packed with a line and usually no seating. As I said, it's best to get there early. The ambience reminds me of a French cafe, wooden tables and chairs with french art on the walls. They also sell a lot of barista ingredients and various latte syrups so you can stock up to make your favourite drinks at home. read more
If you're looking for the best chocolate chip cookies, this is the place to go. If you crave just a classic cookie with no frills, this is truly gonna hit the spot. The chocolate chip cookies are LARGE, I'd say enough to split but honestly they're so good you'll want it all to yourself. I tried some of their other desserts too, very super decadent but delicious. I'll take 1 star off just for the price.... but it's justified because the cookies are THAT GOOD! read more
This is without a doubt my favorite cookie spot in Toronto. None of those overhyped, overfilled, massive and chunky cookies can compare to these classics. These cookies have literally won awards (who knew there were cookie awards). And what makes them stand out is that they are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside with a slightly melted filling. The chocolate chip is the OG and obviously amazing but we also tried the salted butter and caramel and it might be even better than the chocolate! Soooo gooood . I've also had the chai tea here, which was a hard miss, because it was watered down and not chai-y. Regardless of the drink, I will always keep coming back for their amazing cookies. read more

Best Chocolate Chip cookie in the world can be found in the middle of Toronto's Chinatown and Fashion District. Although they have a large selection of French baked goods and sandwiches, its their cookies that keep me and a very loyal clientele coming back! The inside is big and bright with ample seating. read more
Been here twice specifically for brunch and other times to grab a coffee to go. My review reflects my overall experience at Le Gourmand. Great coffee here, my go to is their Americano, which is miles better than the drip coffee. Their chocolate chip cookies are obviously a must try if you have any appreciation for cookies that have a crunchy exterior and soft, chewy interior. As for their brunch, the highlight is definitely their brûlée French toast. The chilaquiles is a pretty good savoury option. The bad: I was not a fan of their eggs benny which is served on top of a bagel. The egg was over done and the hollandaise was a bit flat on flavour. If you're a fan of sweet brunch items, then I would definitely give this place a try. Given it's convenient location, I know I'll be back again soon to try some of their other items. read more

Went here because I decided to have a change in my typical morning routine of making my own cup of espresso and breakfast at home. Place is conveniently located outside of the streetcar. There was an adequate amount of seating and there was a very homey feel to the place. Ordered a macchiato with the walnut choco chip as my breakfast appetizer. Cookie was soft, chewy and gooey. Into the main of a bacon egg and cheese croissant. Croissant was flakey and rich in flavour. Had a breakfast dessert of pancakes and French toast. Definitely something sweet. Overall a great experience and left with great satisfaction. read more

Mainly came for the chocolate chip cookies I've seen countless times on other reviews. It's an absolutely perfect cookie in my opinion. My friend said they are even better if you're lucky enough to grab one fresh out the oven. Only thing I was upset about is only getting 1 cookie! What was I thinking?! read more

I've had this horrible habit - coffee - morning coffee. Even if I don't need it. There is something about going to a cafe or coffee shop in the morning and standing in line with the other addict-eds ( because i am sure I am not alone). My routine in the morning is the same. Get up, shower, make some toast and coffee. Catch transit, find coffee then off to work. Le Gourmand is that stop along my route. I had always wondered about this Lil place en route. I thought at first it was a french restaurant or a gourmet grocery store. All great things but not a place to stop on my way to work but then one day I did. It was because I saw the cookies in the window. For the amount you pay for a cookie, it was either two fifty or something close to three bucks. For that change, it better be some darn fine eatin`! I hate to say it -nope. That aside. The coffee ain't bad. It's next door to Starbucks. If those customers knew what they could get by walking a store over my bet is you would make the journey. It's a casual cafe setting. Yet at the same time it sells everything from cookbooks to pasta to chocolate in one half. In the next half you buy your coffee, pastry, sandwiches or salad at a really awesome price (except that freakin cookie!) . Let me give you an example - a small coffee including tax is 1.26. If you go over to Starbucks you will be paying 50 cents more. Why? Now don`t be put off by the customer service. It`s a bit hit and miss. I have yet to come across someone who actually seemed happy to see a customer. It`s not as if they are mean just there to get you what you need aka caffeine. So give this little place a try, why don't ya? read more
So it took friends from Vancouver to introduce this place to us. I lived in this building for five years and never once stepped foot into Le Gourmand. 1. I don't drink coffee. 2. I'm not into sweets. The cookies are yummy. Moist, flavourful, chock-full of goodness. If they're still warm, bonus. 4 stars not five because sometimes the cookies are misshapen and/or partially burnt. The consistency in size is also a factor. Damn good cookies though. read more

I went here with purpose. Having consistently seen on many food blogs and having been told by many friends with a sweet tooth that Le Gourmand had the best chocolate chip cookie in the city, I couldn't help but find my way there and see what all the hype was all about. The hype was real; this is one fantastic chocolate chip cookie. Before commenting on the cookie, I must note this café/bakery has more than just city-famous cookies. The place has a great dining area, a wide array of drinks, sandwiches and other sweet goodies (cookies, pastries, etc.) and was overall pleasant to be in. But, let's cut to the chase; the chocolate chip cookie is a must-try. It is decadent, chewy, moist, crispy on the outside and oozing with chocolate as you get to the center. Once you finish one, you can't help but be happy. Looking forward to trying something else next time (paired with a cookie, of course). read more
Came here in the afternoon, the service was really good and I got a hold of one of their best cookies and wow, it did live up to my standards! It was baked and left there for awhile but I cannot imagine how delicious it would taste right out of the oven...*salivating* haha besides that, the latte was good as it had a strong kick to it. The mythical chocolate chip cookies had a 30 minute wait for them!! How could you be open and not have your famed cookies?? So this review is only take out for 2 other baked goods. Though I'm side eyeing them for not having their CCC, I won't ding them for it. Le Gourmand has been around on the Toronto scene for a long time. I think yelp reviews go back for 8 years at least ... in the retail world, that's a lifetime and a half. Clearly they're doing something good. With a lot of baked goods on display and a constant line, they have their patrons keep coming back. The cafe is part take out and part sit down cafe. When we went on a Sunday late morning, it was packed and filled with brunchers. There is only one person at the cash so the line up does take a while to go through. Their offering is from baked goods to sandwiches to espresso drinks. I was only interested in their cookies. Seeing how they didn't have of their famed chocolate chip cookies, I decided to try two of their other baked goods ... the nookie cookie (chocolate crinkle) and their Breton cake. Nookie cookie - I'm not sure how this got their name but I was told the chocolate cookie covered in powdered sugar was the "nookie". It's brownie dense and fudgey with a crispy sugared crust that breaks into white shards as you eat it. This is a really great version of the chocolate crinkle cookie. 4/5 Breton cake - if a buttery shortbread had a baby with a custard tart, it would be this. Buttery tender in the middle with still a firm crust, this isn't a cake as much as it is a giant butter short bread. The custard isn't runny but rather it's like a dense and creamy vanilla pudding. For a cookie, it's not overly sweet so it's a nice baked food for those who don't want a sugar high. 4/5 I feel the price is a tad high as 2 small cookies and a tart was over $13. BUT for the occasional treat, the nookie cookie and Breton cake was enjoyable. Most places don't get the texture right on their cakes but these were good. Maybe next time I step, I could try those CCC finally. read more

Really wanted to get the walnut chocolate chip cookies here but they were sold out on this Saturday afternoon. Le Gourmand was packed and nearly all the tables were occupied. I got the brownie which came out to $5. The brownie definitely did not taste that great and was not worth the $5. Next time, I hope to get my hands on their chocolate chip cookies as I've read that those ones are the star! Service was average. read more
I would advise coming here on the weekend, they have delicious eats and I love the small cafe atmosphere. I have been here several times, and my photos reflect that. I would suggest coming in earlier as it get's really busy on weekends and they sometimes run out of items. I'm not a big fan of their drip coffee, so I usually grab a coffee from Starbucks next door. I love the Crème Brule French Toast, I'm usually not a big fan of French Toast but they really know what they're doing. Thick Slices of Toast that is usually super moist, topped with Creme Chantilly and in season fruit. Another thing to order is the Huevos Chiilaquiles, it's really good. Tomato, tortilla, eggs, avocado, pico de gallo, cilantro and delicious thick slices of Bacon. I have also had the Lemon Ricotta Buttermilk Pancakes which are not bad, I like how moist they are and topped with Lemon cream cheese mousse, Blueberry sauce, & maple syrup. Most of the pastries are really good, the chocolate chip cookie is famous here but it's a little too overwhelming for me. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll enjoy it. Keep Eating, Angela read more

The cookies called me! Thick, slight crunch on the edge and the okie gooey melted chocolate goodness in each bite! Ordered an ice americano as well. Pretty smooth!Not impressed with the wait time (it wasn't busy at all!) or the attitude of the barista as she placed my very delayed drink on the counter. But I guess we all have bad days. I honestly just needed a really good chocolate chip cookie. I'm not talking about your typical store-bought cookie, or even the big flat chewy or crunchy ones you may find at your local neighborhood cafe. I'm talkin'--a mount of crispy base and exterior that breaks open into a soft gooey interior, spotted with melted chocolate morsels (drool). So, I wasn't actually expecting to be able to find this, unless of course Levain had a shop in Toronto that I didn't know about. Well... it isn't Levain, but--Le Gourmand, you sure did check all of my boxes! I've tried both the chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate chip cookie with walnuts, and you can't go wrong with either of them. Now for the cherry on top... GET THE ROAST BEEF SANDWICH (make sure to get it toasted). Clearly based on my obsession with chocolate chip cookies, nothing else actually mattered when I came here, but by default I decided to grab a quick bite before getting on with my day. You definitely will not be lured by their display of sandwiches/ eats, so just take my word for it. :) This is probably the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had in my life. It's not your typical overflow of meat sandwiched in between a roll, but there is something about the lean proportion of roast beef, grilled red onions, cheese and greens encased within a baguette that has been toasted on a panini grill. I haven't tried any of the other food items, but if this sandwich is any indicator of whether they know what they're doing, I don't see a huge risk in trying the other stuff. Oh!
