I got a nice, quick california chicken sandwich. It's a convenient meal if you're looking for something cheap and fast.

You gotta come to fresh market on Thursdays for the $5 bistro meals!!! (Beware they do sell out of…read moresome items.) They also have a hot plate meal where you can get a rotisserie chicken, two sides, and 6 rolls - feed 4-6 people. (Perfect amount for 3 people sized family in my opinion.). Depends on the portion sizes your family eats. Either way, great last minute meal ideas after a long day of work. Or for your lunch break! The workers are all really polite here, but the checkout line is not fast so make sure to get a basket or cart to make waiting in line easier. It is always clean in here, and they always have lots of fresh produce. Plus a convenient parking lot.

During Mardi Gras during the Wednesday parades, I was being harassed by a man on the sidewalk while…read moreI was on the steps of the fresh market(being a frequent and recurring customer who did my writing at the tables). After being cursed out for four hours I threw one single mochi ice cream(and unfortunately missed) that I purchased in the store on top of several other items throughout the parade. Nopd got involved and an employee(curly hair/woman/a bunch of metal in her face) claimed I was "criminally trespassing" despite buying over $100 in groceries that the police ended up confiscating AFTER bashing my head into the wall(there were two ribeyes, a large bag of jelly beans, expensive cheese, olive oil, and garlic in those bags). While I was trying to reason with the employee and explain what happened and that I was being harassed. She refused to give me her name and that's when I was manhandled by NOPD and my head went straight into the wall.....The next night I got permission from Eric the GM to purchase groceries and be on the steps as a customer. She was in the store off the clock in booty shorts and tried to start an argument with me for the second time. I reported this to headquarters but never got a response. I am now escalating this to a local attorney as a civil rights case. Not only did they allow police brutality to happen at the store, I am also on the autism spectrum with ADHD and the way they handled this incident was absolutely discriminatory in that respect. For the record, this happened after I was complying with the first request to leave and I was getting my stuff together on the table in my bag. My charges were also dropped a few weeks ago as I was given court summons before I was transported to oschner Baptist for a head CT. I have been having recurring headaches that I need to see a neurologist about since this incident.

It's conveniently located for me, as in walking distance, and you can't beat that for picking up essentials. Anything to save myself a car ride! While their selection isn't always robust as far as produce goes, they have far more locally- grown items than Whole Foods. I think they strive to offer as much local as possible, whereas these days WF does not, so kudos to them for that. I don't want my tomatoes from Mexico if they are in season here. That said, you may not find everything you're looking for as the selection varies, but I can always count on finding an organic baked potato and I'm not going to find that at Robert's, the neighborhood supermarket. I used to think pricing was super high here, but I no longer feel that way. In fact, they are often cheaper than Robert's, as it seems like they are just pricing for tourists looking to stock their vacation rentals. They have a good selection of vegan items, even locally-made cheeses and meats, in addition to the commercial brands. And if you hit it at the right time, there's locally-made vegan baked goods, too. They have a modest wine and beer selection but still convenient if you need it. I think the neighborhood should support the Food Co-op. When it first opened, there was all this strange begrudgement around it, "we wanted a real supermarket," but when that so-called "real" supermarket opened it was a bit of an eye-opener for most of us ($7 for OJ five years ago was unheard of, but of course most of us wouldn't bat an eye in this economy).

I pulled up to GNC in very cold weather only to find a sign that says be back in 15 minutes. So I wait 15 minutes and an elderly lady came back from Winn-Dixie and says wow, I came almost 45 minutes ago and the sign said 15 minutes and it still says 15 minutes. Not sure what's going on but that Has to be addressed. I'm picking up supplements for my family and now I have to go another day because I have to go to work. Things are already expensive. I should have used Amazon instead. So it will not let me post another review because I posted one yesterday so I came back to the store for 10 o'clock because the store says they open at 10 o'clock in the morning. It's freezing cold and I'm trying to pick up supplements for me, and my family and , I'm waiting outside for 10 minutes and they are still not open. This will be the last time that I come to the store. I guess owners of the store don't care. If I owned this business or any other business, I would like to know why my store is not open when it's supposed to be open.
