I interviewed a few companies, but Angie really impressed me because I could tell she was organized and committed to providing a top notch service. At the same time, however, I had a friend who cleaned homes and was in need of a job, so I alternated between her and Angie's crew. Angie always could help me out in a pinch and her cleaners are super fast but very thorough (the benefit of having a team of cleaners rather than one person of course). I used her services sporadically throughout the past three years and she always came through for me, even tried her best when she was completely booked. This is crucial when you are relying on income from a STR and need last minute reservations when they come through. When my friend gave her notice this past spring, I actually felt like it was going to be ok, because I had a company that had proven themselves to be dependable and loyal to their customers. The group I was with had set up our volunteer project beforehand. It's not that lengthy of a process to do. We showed up and were taken to where we were going to volunteer and we were on our way. Our mission was to help feed the people that came in for a meal. They had this down to a science, it moved so smoothly that it felt like a video game almost. Everything was done so efficiently that it was over so quickly that it felt like we were only there as decoration. I'm not complaining, they have been doing this longer than any of us that came to volunteer. After we were done with clean up we were give a tour of the building. We also had a sit down meeting where we were explained everything that they offer to the community. This is just one site that they oversee. Like I said, it was an honor.

Liars. Over promise and under deliver, will not stand by there word. All of my cycling partners told me not to come to this shop and I should have taken there advice. Please read on. I dealt with the owner a while back. A man that is clearly out of touch with the cycling world. He knows cycling products but knows nothing about cyclists and there needs (that is an entirely different story that I will not get into). I picked a product form the shop vendors (J and B Imports) catalog. He told me the product would arrive in a day (First lie. I ordered on Saturday, they are closed on Sunday) so I waited until monday and no call. I called on Tuesday and was told that the item was on back order (Second lie. I know this because I checked the vendors web sight and it was in stock in Alabama and Texas. I confirmed with a phone call to the vendor. They vendor gladly gave me the availability of the part number that I purchased, but not the sell price. Vendors words "we have a ton of those here in Bama"). I called the shop on Wednesday and was told "Yes, that is in stock down in florida but it will take longer than we thought for it to get here because it is coming from a different warehouse. You will receive your item on Friday. (lie three and four. Once again I checked the web sight and called. No stock in Florida and I didn't receive my order on Friday) I waited until Friday. Guess what happened. I didn't get my stuff. I called late in the day and was told that UPS didn't show up today. I requested the tracking number for the shipment and was denied that information. I then asked for my money back and was also denied a refund even though I was told by the OWNER of the bike shop that I would have the item in one day and he did not stand up to that promise. I requested to talk to the owner and was told that he would be in on Saturday. I went in on Saturday and he wasn't there. I asked when he will arrive and was told to come back closer to three o'clock. I did and still the owner was not in that day. (This is lie five) I had to wait 9 days to receive an item that I was told would arrive in one. Being lied to, and given the run around is grounds for zero stars. May I ad one more twist? At the point of sale the owner told me he would mach ANY internet or local shop price. After I pulled the item up online on my phone, he quickly back pedaled and said something along the lines of , that cant be the same item I am selling you (it was the same item with same part number), and fed me a few more excuses on why he can't meet the price even though he just told me minutes earlier that he would match any price. ( I think we are up to six lies now). Please look to any other shop than this one for service. This is a poor way to conduct business. This owners business ethics are severely off. read more

It's very difficult for me to call this place a bicycle shop. I'm looking for a lady-specific full suspension 29-er mountain bike. I didn't expect to walk in and find one on the shop floor, but what I also didn't expect, was to walk in to this so-called "Bike Shop" and find over-priced WALMART bikes. When I walked through the rest of the shop to view the other bikes, I noticed that the high-end bikes are entry-level, at best. The only employee there assured me that he could order the bike I wanted. After getting the price, I decided to go somewhere else. The price he quoted, and all the other prices in the shop were WAY OVER MSRP. I went to another shop and got the same bike ordered for MSRP and wasn't charged shipping, either! I would rather pay retail and not get ripped-off, then pay hundreds over retail and get free service on my bicycle. read more

RUBARB is a community bike project located in the 9th ward, in the back of St. Mary of the Angels…read morechurch (where Common Ground used to be headquartered). RUBARB stands for Rusted Up Beyond All Recognition Bikes, and began when, after the storm, volunteers began pulling unused bikes out of garbage piles and fixing them up for both residents and volunteers. It is completely volunteer run and thus is only open Mon. 10-2, Wed. 3:30-6, and Sat. 1-6. I just picked up my bike and I love it. The selection is obviously small, since it's all donated or found bikes that are fixed up by volunteers, but I got an excellently shitty Columbia 3-speed (now single-speed since it's missing shifters and gears, ha) for $50. One of the raddest things about RUBARB is their Earn-a-bike program for youth. Saturdays are dedicated to the kids, who come to learn how to fix and build their bikes, learning about parts and mechanics, eating snacks, and just hanging out. If you see a kid biking around the 8th or 9th ward, chances are they got it here. All the volunteer adults that I've met have been really great, extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. This is not a fancy place by any means. They are always in need of volunteers, art supplies, bike supples, tools, etc., so if you've got any extra resources, put them to good use here!

The service is always top notch. The inventory of upper-end bikes and gear is the best in town. They've cut back on Vespas, with only a few on the showroom floor, but no doubt they'll be able to satisfy your needs. The service department is great, as well. If you're in the market for anything from a Ducati to a Vespa, or just want to drool over a few, pay them a visit!

Yes, this fine establishment also sells Triumph motorcycles and Piaggio scooters, but to a motorcycle enthusiast like myself, there is nothing more soul stirring than the sound of an Italian L-twin engine; especially one equipped with a Termignoni exhaust. But I digress. The store's owner Zach Mattherne is super friendly and can often be found on the showroom floor chatting with customers. Recently, a new salesperson named Matt has joined the staff. He's also super friendly and very knowledgable. Even if you're not in the market for a new motorcycle, but are a fan of them, stop on by and check them out. The reason I am updating this review is for a recent service I had on my Honda CBR 954 rr at this dealership. Yeah, you heard me right. A Honda motorcycle got serviced at a Ducati dealership. For 3 weeks, the Transportation Revolution offered a full synthetic (Castrol) oil change and motorcycle inspection for only $50.00. ($30.00 for scooters). For those of you "cagers" who do not ride motorcycles and think this doesn't sound like a good deal, let me assure you that it is. Quick lesson: Most motorcycle engine (not Harley Davidsons) oil not only lubricates the engine's internals, it also acts as the transmission fluid and as an oil bath for the wet clutch. Therefore, it has to be formulated to withstand extreme heat and shearing forces. That's why motorcycle oil off the shelf can cost anywhere from $10.00- 18.00 per quart. Therefore, a $50.00 oil change and inspection is a deal. They even found a loose rearset (footpeg) on my bike and tightened it up with some locktite. My service advisor (Rob E.) was very professional and had my bike ready to go within 2 hours, which was cool by me as I was a walk in customer late in the afternoon hours the day before a holiday weekend. Kudos for the shop area being exceptionally clean and well organized. In fact, I've never seen a shop so clean. More to come.......I hope.
