This is where the good part stops. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fine. But it was HOT. It is unusually hot in Paris this week but it was stifling inside the restaurant. But we could have dealt with that (the food was that good). The really disappointing part, however, was the service. We waited 20 minutes for anyone to ask if we wanted drinks (the restaurant was not crowded) and another 25 for someone to ask if we wanted to order. For context, a couple who arrived 10-15 minutes after us got a bottle of wine and their first course before the server--the same server for both tables--ever came to take our order. And it was like that throughout the meal. It's a shame, too, because the meal was exceptional otherwise. The service was bad enough that we won't return.

It's also placed above candles to maintain temperature. Aside from the history it's a fairly pedestrian steak. It's basically a cut of average quality meat smothered in a sauce that wouldn't be necessary if the cut of meat was better. Service felt like it was a cafeteria staff dressed in French maid outfits. It was quick and we were in and out in 45 minutes. Such is the speed of having a single set menu. Note, it says that no shorts are allowed but they served plenty of people wearing shorts.
