L steak for 2 with fries. Bread was meh

Do yourself a favor a book a reservation via The Fork or Google! You don't even have to call them. We saw someone try to walk in while we were dining on a Monday night and they were turned away. We ordered the L steak for two (120 euros total) and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were heavenly too which took us by surprise!

Well all I have to say is that this restaurant was recommended to us by a local (Nelly) and she could not have been more correct. The restaurant was small and quaint and the food was excellent. Excellent quality steak house which also has many pork dishes as well. We had the Pork Knuckle appetizer to start which was awesome. I also had the Filet of Boefe and my wife had the Steak Hache. Neither disappointed and the wine selection was great as well. If you are looking for a great quality Parisian steakhouse restaurant that the locals go to, then make some time to visit Le Severo!

    Fries come as a side!

This place had been highly recommended by a Parisian friend but I was a little hesitant after seeing some of the reviews about needing to speak French- still made the reservation on la fourchette and made the quick trip off the metro to le severo +wine: we got two glasses for 14e, got the waiter to recommend a strong red which went well with the meal +/- Cote de boeuf for 2-3 (180euros): I split this with the bf and this was undeniably delicious steak, fatty and about medium rare.. but was it worth 180 euros??? I'm really not sure and I'm inclined to say not really... but if you honestly have the $$$$ to spare, then why not I guess???? ALSO this takes about 30 mins to prep just so you know!! -the waiters were able to communicate with us in English which was great! But I think Bc of the language barrier, they definitely spent less time checking on us and actually we were the only table without bread which was a bit sad :( I kind of wish we were able to speak more French so it wouldn't feel mutually awkward, but we did exchange some pleasantries

Ignore any reviews about the staff at Le Severo being not friendly to English speakers, they are so kind and lovely. However, you cannot forget you are in Paris...which is in France...where they speak FRENCH! Do not be a jerk. Now, onto the food. The menu is on a chalkboard, but you basically don't need it. Get cote de beouf. That's your choice. My sister and I ordered the cote de beouf duex, meaning it's enough for two people. They have like ten items on the menu, but 300 on their wine list, it was all in french and we struggled a bit on a wine choice. An amazing guest near us, an American expat, helped us pick something out. A reasonably priced bordeaux, which I fell in love with in Paris. It was cooked medium/medium rare and the frites were piping hot and perfect. What a charming experience. I would return here again and again.

If you're looking to try steak frites in Paris my only suggestion would be to come to Le Sévero and order their Côte de Boeuf.. I guaranteed that you will not be disappointed!! We had reservations for a party of 8 and I was surprised that they were able to accommodate us when we arrived because the place was so small.. There was no need for a menu since I've already knew what I was going to get before we even got there.. I was there for the Côte de Boeuf and nothing else.. Everyone ordered the same thing and no one left with any regrets!!! Everything from the succulent fat off the steak down to the last frite was devoured!!! I can't remember how much the bill was but it was pretty pricey.. With 3 orders of Côte de Boeuf for 3 and 3 bottles of red, plus a side dish (dont remember which side we ordered) it put a little dent in the wallet but it was definitely worth it!!

Hands down the best restaurant we where we dined during our recent trip to Paris. A nice walk from the Metro, it's an easy find. Owned by a former butcher, William Bernet. The aged steaks and wines are excellent. The Steak Frites were recently voted the best in Paris -- and for a reason!! Best to book a few days in advance. A small neighborhood vibe encompasses the dinning area, and the wine list is huge. Service was excellent -- very helpful and friendly. Our waiter spoke English so he was spared my horrid French. Pricey but worth every penny.

This was the saddest steak I've ever had -overcooked to death- the outside was so hard it scraped the top of my mouth as I tried to eat it.

This was my favourite steakhouse in Paris when I was a student there 7 years ago. I went back just a few months ago and was incredibly excited to return. I was beyond astounded by the service. The waiter was rude, the owner who goes around to chat with the guests completely ignored me. Last time I had come with a Parisian friend, this time I came solo, and I'm not sure if that is what led to the cold shoulder. My steak was terribly overcooked, it was inedible, and the fries which I remember being one of the most delicious, came stale, dry, and just not worth the bite. Not once did the waiter ask how I was doing, even though the owner warmly greeted the other guests and chatted with them over their meal, all of whom were native French. I left incredibly disheartened because I had cherished this steakhouse in memory for over half a decade. My return was indeed a very disappointing event.

I was at first intimidated to go here because the reviews said that the staff would not speak English to patrons. So I built up my nerve anyway with the French that I have been practicing and I was pleasantly surprised. The waitstaff was welcoming and my waiter with his limited English was able to communicate with me and my limited french. My steak was cooked to perfection and the frites were crispy and light. The atmosphere was small and quaint and I loved it!

I didn't mind the wait if the food was good, but it wasn't the case for me. The mustard dressing salad was ok but the steak was so dry and I could eat only 3 slices. The waitress was very nice. She encouraged me to eat more but I just couldn't. I told her that I would skip the second plate. She actually packed the leftover for me but the food which didn't taste good then wouldn't taste good later, either. I had a bite of the steak later but I still didn't like it. The wine also tasted like water. We just laughed how bad everything was. This place is popular among tourists and I fell for it. Anyway I thought I should share my experience.

A couple birthdays and they'd turn down the lights for a couple minutes to sing happy birthday in French. Idk if that's tradition HBD but def had everyone in the restaurant clapping along. Our server Aimen was phenomenal. He was very humble and simply said he worked there but I think he may be the owner or manager. He was so kind and friendly with us. It was a busy Friday night but he made sure we were well taken care of. He also spoke Spanish which was refreshing to hear!! Coming from the U.S. where good customer service is important, he's one of the nicest and friendliest restaurant people we have had the pleasure to meet in Paris. For food, my salmon with the sweet potato puree was amazing. The salmon per the menu is semi-cooked. I requested fully cooked and it was still delicious. The cheese fries were perfectly salted and good to share. The pork fried balls were also very good. They had an English menu. The service was just as good as the food, excellent.

Every single thing we ate (and there were many things) was mind-blowingly delicious. There were cocktails (and mocktails!): a Last Word (Monkey 47 gin, Green Chartreuse, Luxardo, lime) for him and a Golden Pear mocktail for me. Both were outstanding and we each had two. We had the Beefy Bravas--a mille feuille potato topped with beef tartare and caviar--the Tobiko Crab Salad, and the Thai Salad (with seared toro, it's easily the best Thai papaya salad I've ever had). All were bonkers awesome. For our meat course, the husband got the Wagyu Picanha (all evidence points to it being a remarkable piece of beef) and I got the veal filet. The veal was one of the tenderest, most delicious pieces of meat I've ever eaten. The haricots beets we got as a side were crisp and sweet, and the pommes purées were otherworldly (complimentary). This is where the good part stops. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fine. But it was HOT. It is unusually hot in Paris this week but it was stifling inside the restaurant. But we could have dealt with that (the food was that good). The really disappointing part, however, was the service. We waited 20 minutes for anyone to ask if we wanted drinks (the restaurant was not crowded) and another 25 for someone to ask if we wanted to order. For context, a couple who arrived 10-15 minutes after us got a bottle of wine and their first course before the server--the same server for both tables--ever came to take our order. And it was like that throughout the meal. It's a shame, too, because the meal was exceptional otherwise. The service was bad enough that we won't return.
