I came in to return an item I had recently purchased--something that's still being sold in-store, mind you--only to be met with an incredibly rude customer service representative. She immediately shut me down, stating the item was considered a "seasonal gift" and therefore ineligible for return. I tried to explain my situation calmly, thinking there might be some flexibility or at least a more respectful conversation, but she wouldn't budge--zero empathy, zero effort to help, and a lot of attitude. I understand stores have policies, but customer service is about how you communicate them. A little courtesy goes a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Wow, I was hesitating coming on here to write a review about this despicable store owner but in a weird way it's comforting reading all the other bad reviews. On Sunday, I went to the store with my mother to buy her something for her living room. I had store credit from a gift I had received 2 weeks ago. I returned it and received a store credit slip that stated I had $110 in credit. When I returned to the store, I chose a piece that was $200 and the lady said it was on discount for $140. My store credit was for $110 so I expected my total to be $30, right? No I was wrong LOL. The lady told me that because I was using store credit that I would not receive the discount on the item and would have to pay full price. I explained to her how that makes no sense and that my store credit of $110 was initially paid in cash by my friend who purchased the initial gift. She started yelling at me and started using Armenian/ Russian curse words. I was completely shocked at the words that came out of her mouth. The interaction escalated so quickly - I felt so bad that I had brought my mother into that store. It honestly ruined my whole Sunday because I carried that negativity on my shoulders for the rest of the day. I told the lady I don't want anything from her store and that I wanted my money back. As she was yelling at me she started writing me a check and in that moment I stopped her because anyone who witnessed this lady's actions would know that the check from her hands would either bounce or be fraudulent. Disgusting attitude and HORRIBLE customer service. I don't know how she is still in business after reading all of these 1 star reviews. I don't even second guess when I want to buy luxury items for my family & friends. Le Papillion is a small but mighty boutique style store, you can't miss it! Every time I have gone I have been accommodated and treated amazingly by the staff. The 1 star reviews don't make sense: I went in prior to Easter looking for a set for my assistant. The workers were so extremely busy and I saw how they were going back and fourth accommodating clients. Aside from being so busy the ladies helped me pick nice timeless McKenzie Child's set for my assistant. They even advised me what to get and not to get for a timeless look. Customer service is crap! Went it to look at a few pieces. First, when i picked up an item to look for the price the lady said "dont touch anything" with a rude tone. Then when I asked how much it was she responded in Armenian (which i dont speak or understand). When I told her I dont speak Armenian she said "thats not good." I hate leaving a bad review and I wanted to like this place! But all the bad reviews are correct about this place and their customer service! I called and ordered couple of things during a special " barn sale" . The owner, Naz said that they have couple of the items that I ordered and whatever she doesn't have she'll get it for me, without any problem. I called back the day she told me to, she already came up with excuses that it didn't arrive on time and to wait more. Or, I can go and pickup whatever she had, and wait longer for items that she didn't have. Insuring me that she put on hold all the items I ordered and that I can go and pickup whenever I want, during the next week. Ok, no problem, I can wait. I waited, and called back again on the new due date, noone answered. So I decided to go to the store and check if everything arrived, if no, I'll just pick up whatever she had on hold for me. So, I went to store, Naz was there, I told her I came to pick up my items, she just turned around & told me that nothing was left! When I asked her how come? she was holding for me some items and told me to come and pick them up any day! She just told me VERY RUDE that the sale ended and she doesn't have anything for me. Without even looking at me or having normal conversation or explain why she sold my items.... I had nothing else to do but leave, without even trying to get any explanation of why she LIED! I usually don't write reviews. I felt as I entered this beautiful store like I was being judged. They were sitting around a table having pizza looked around checked me out and continued to have their lunch.I was not greeted and when I asked for someone to help me I felt a negative attitude. No one smiled, looked at me, or even said hello.I felt like maybe the store was closed but then the door was open. So I asked them if they are open.I'm sure if I Happened to wear my designer shoes and my designer bag that day I would be treated differently. I feel like our society should be better than this. I'm so tired of Armenians treating other Armenians in such a trashy way I was trying to exchange a beautiful frame for a different style of equal price but they did not have it in stock. When I decided to ask for a store credit to use it at a later time when they have the frame of my choice in stock they proceeded to start processing this but would not refund the tax amount. When I inquired about this they notified me that the tax was already paid to the government so they shouldn't be refunding it to me. I told her (the owner)that I have never had this issue with any other store. I should be refunded the exact amount that was paid which includes the tax. When I come back and use my Store credit I'm certainly going to be charged tax again. She said that's not how things are done at their store. That was all very confusing and strange. Possibly illegal? They said they will refund only the price of an actual item but not the tax. At that point I was getting frustrated and felt that it was not worth my time or energy to argue with her. I just chose something else to exchange my item with. This happened a couple of years ago but it's been on my mind so I wanted to make sure I share this experience to warn other customers. I had forgotten about this but recently a couple of my friends shared a very similar negative experience at the store. In my mind I thought that maybe that was just a one time occurrence and it shouldn't be highlighted. Now I see that this is a recurrent chronic situation. More than anything I hope the owners will try to look deeper within themselves and try to understand the source of such Need to be rude to others. It is so much easier to be nice. Also, I asked for 2 boxes for my 2 gifts and the skinny woman in the gift section was refusing to give them to me. She was giving me attitude and even called me pretentious. It was raining and I kindly asked for a bag to place the 2 gifts in and the woman reluctantly threw a bag at me. Even when I looked at her and said "have a great day", I didn't get any response back. We walked into this store on a Saturday afternoon and the owner seemed busy and since it was the holidays we decided to leave and come back the next day. I'm sad to do this, however in order for businesses to improve they need to hear all feedback. I got a gift from a friend in September, went into the store the same month to return the item and get another item. I was told it needs to be ordered, got a price for the items and that they will hold my credit until I'm ready to pickup. Fast forward over a period of 7 MONTHS and 5 phone calls checking in what item it is that I ordered, giving me a different price, loosing my credit slip and then finally that the items are in store. When we went to pick it up, they could not find the items. At this point I don't think I need to continue. This business needs to get a proper customer management system and efficiency improvement.
