I totally get why this place earned Michelin recognition in 2025. The softshell crab tacos were…read moreeasily the best I've ever had--perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The salsas were incredible, the homemade bun was next-level, and that smoky cucumber drink was something special. Even the presentation was on point. Service here, and honestly all around this area, has been outstanding. Puerto Morelos is definitely a place I'd come back to.

Hello, We hope you…read morewould consider giving us another opportunity to visit your restaurant and help make this experience right. We dined with you on May 9 under the name Fairchild. There were three of us, and we visited around 2:00 PM. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. My seafood risotto appeared spoiled and had a hair in it. My husband's tacos made him feel ill after only one bite, and he had to leave for the restroom immediately. His drink was extremely sweet and seemed to contain little or no alcohol. My drink was incorrect, served only half full, and came without a straw or garnish. Service was also lacking. We had difficulty communicating because no one assisting us spoke English. We poured our own water throughout the meal and were never asked whether we wanted refills or additional drinks. To make matters worse, we were celebrating my daughter's birthday that day, and it was completely overlooked despite our mentioning it. We felt so sick and uncomfortable that we wanted to leave immediately. We attempted to communicate our concerns and explain that we were not feeling well, but we were unable to get assistance due to the language barrier. We will be returning to the area in December and hope you will be willing to make this right. We would appreciate hearing how you can address the issues we experienced and restore our confidence in your restaurant. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.

Got to try the... - The mussels - good taste, in a nice wine sauce. - The escargot - delicious, cooked in a nice butter oil sauce. - Foie Gras - Not a big fan of duck fat, but this was good as well. - Scallops - The scallops for this dish was rubbery, but had a nice sauce on top. Overall, great service and delicious food.

Our server did the whole "sell you the bottle" trick but backed down when I chuckled at him about the cost of the crap bottles they were selling. After that, it was smooth sailing and a nice time. He did a great job Inside it seems to be "Frenchy", but it does seem like it's a bit of a stretch. There are paintings depicting French scenes, but frankly you could put pics of French fries up and I would not care. The lighting was cool. The apps were great and I loved them all! Very tasty bites indeed. The soufflé looked burnt but was very good when you got into it. Escargot were tasty as well and the French onion soup was amazing! Real butter for the bread and I am in love. Entrees were just ok. C ate very little of hers, but I liked hers way more than mine. I had the Duck and it wasn't the best, but it's a gamble with Duck sometimes I guess. We were so full we did not even look at dessert when the time came. Overall, nice meal and a good time! I'd come back just to eat the appetizers again. '26 - 58

I believe this is the only restaurant that requires evening attire, that means no flip flops or tshirt. So here is my summary. Very nice atmosphere and vibe Great music, perfect volume Decor and ambiance Covid precautions Food Service Overall, no complaints what soever. It was everything you'd expect from a fine French restaurant without feeling like you're around a bunch of snobs. Lots of choices, from what we had, we were delighted. About 5-6 choices for appetizers, a bunch of entrees and a couple deserts. There were a few duck (confict and breast) dishes, lamb, beef, pork, salmon, to chose from. They have vegetarian and gluten free options too. If you're considering this place for dinner, just go for it. Try something you might otherwise not order. Expand your palette and have a nice fancy dinner without that ikkky pretentious vibe an independent French restaurant might give off. Ohh and don't worry, they don't have escargot but they do have ratatouille!! Hope that helps anyone debating.

The food and service here is also mediocre. I am European so I guess I have a slightly more refined palate for this food than your average visitor to this resort and a number of the items on the menu I grew up making myself. Quiche Lorraine - Soggy crust instead of the flakey crust it's supposed to and filled with lot's of large lumps of un-rendered fat that was supposed to be Bacon. Traditional Quiche Lorraine had the Fat removed from the bacon before cooking and then adding to the filling mixture. Both my Husband and I were so disgusted we didn't eat more than a couple of bites. Rack of Lamb - More bone than anything and part of my Husbands meal was simply a bone stripped bare placed on his plate. Wth? Again lot's of un-rendered fat and very little flavor. The potatoes also tasted of dirt. Creme Brulee - One of the worst I have had to be honest. This is one of my signature desserts of which both my Husband and I were really looking forward to. The top seemed to have a later of grease on and the sugar was neither thick nor bulee'd enough yet somehow tasted incredibly burnt. I think it was the weird oil on top. The creme itself was not thick enough, it was more like a child's pudding cup with barely any flavor. We also ordered Wine with our meal to which I found a fruit fly floating in it. We waited for our server to return and pointed it out to which the server didn't even apologize, just asked ''So you want another one?'' I think they must leave the bottles uncorked for this to happen so be wary and maybe ask for it to be opened at your table like any fine dining restaurant should do. Overall definitely not the romantic Anniversary dinner we wanted and we both left still hungry and thinking we would have been better off with room service or the Buffet.

Although he…read morecould write his own ticket most anywhere, he opened up his own restaurant, John Gray's Kitchen, in Puerto Morelos a few years back. His style is contemporary gourmet Mexican fusion with fresh local ingredients. Some say this is as good as it gets, with comments like: "the best food I've ever tasted". Sounds pretty good, huh? I looked at the menu and it was roast duck with sauces, roasted pork, New York Steak, seafood and the like. Contemporary gourmet dishes and looked like a French influence. They say the menu changes weekly. The prices were pretty reasonable if this is the bomb, on a par with regular-priced fine dining in the U.S. The inside is nice but not formal, but the food is where it's at. I heard John Gray himself is recently "no longer there" and I assume he passed away because his wife (I think) carries on the legacy. I've seen a night picture and the building front is all lit up and looks really nice. To me the building looked like a house that was converted into a restaurant. Since we were here around noon as they were setting up for the evening, we didn't get to indulge and never made it back. We had to settle for shrimp cocktail and whole fried schnapper in town overlooking the Puerto Morelos town square, which was excellent all the same. I vow to make it back here. Riviera Maya is a great vacation and the excellent food in the area is part of that.

Or if the chefs were just better the night we went, but we felt like they were able to cook the meat to your requested doneness. - Crème Brûlée - no complaints. exactly what you expect and decent. - Apple Mousse - I appreciate the presentation of this dessert.

Luckily, we did not have to deal with this and just showed up. In hindsight, I would've dined at this restaurant several more times during my stay. It was solid! Keep in mind there is a dress code (so don't come in wearing swim trunks and sandals). The food here is very elegant. The plating is memorable and the food tastes great. The drinks are also very tasty. The dessert was phenomenal too. That creme brulee? YUMMMMYYY! It's a wonderful spot for date night. If you're feeling up for it, you can pay an additional cost for their premium selections of alcohol and food. If you're someone who likes foie gras, then you'll be happy to know that they have this on their menu. Highly recommend this spot!
