I've been here atleast 6 times. At first I was shocked how fast and good their food was, but then I realize their staff completely ruins the experience for me. The manager is really unprofessional, he's definitely not afraid to stand around and chat about his personal life with people rather than help his staff or something. The last 4 times I went I got the same waitress who was straight up unpleasant. She messed up my ridiculously expensive smoothie and stressed how much of an inconvenience it was for her. I was so eager to try their Eggs Benedict I didn't need a menu. I was sorely disappointed. I thought that if anyone in town served a good Eggs Benedict, it would be them. This place is NOT getting better with age. Time before last, my wife found a cardboard disk (from a produce box, probably) in her omelet. When we told the manager, he said that he was sorry and that we shouldn't worry because it was edible cardboard. Seriously?!? Gave them another shot yesterday and 3 of 4 orders were screwed up. They weren't complicated orders but if the kid asks for sausage, don't serve her bacon. Also, the wife's food was cold on arrival and the waitress was nowhere to be found when we needed refills, etc. Ugh! read more

The food was good but not a whole lot better than you could get anywhere else. But my main complaint was the menu. The item we ordered was clearly listed under a heading that included home fries or other sides so we said we wanted home fries. They charged us for them and when we complained they said the item we ordered wasn't included, despite the fact that they even admitted it was confusing. They said others have complained but the manager said it wasn't included and that's that. Apparently he hasn't seen a need to fix the menu, just prefers to bilk people. I'm from DC, so I regard brunch as a highly sacred weekend outing. That being said, while visiting Springfield, my grandmother insisted that we visit Le Peep for Saturday brunch. We were seated within five minutes and had a great window view of the parking lot. The menu is... in a word... EXTENSIVE. There are SO many wonderful things to choose from that could really fit the appetite of anyone. My grandmother got the raspberry crepe - the any two order instead of the full four crepes. They looked scrumptious - she said they were very good, rich and filling. I had the Eighteen Wheeler combo - two pieces of French toast, bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese and potatoes. I didn't need to eat the rest of the day, for sure, however it was all great breakfast basics. The only complaint I have was how long it took for the food to actually come out - it felt like forever. I went through a large orange juice, two cups of coffee, and two glasses of water before I ever saw my food. It was busy, but not horribly chaotic busy so I'm not sure what took quite so long. However, if you don't mind waiting for your food and you have someone to have good conversations with while you wait, Le Peep is a wonderful brunch option in the Springfield, Illinois area. read more

I don't think they let you in unless you have someone over 80 in your party. My husband's grandma loves it. I don't know they found all of the dated and worn decor when they have only been open a few years. It's very 80's inside. Lots of mauve. The food was ok. I have had omelets and some salads. Seriously, bro...we aren't in France and this isn't a five star breakfast joint. Oscar the Grinch was working the hostess desk that day, much to our demise. We were waiting for two elderly friends to join us, one was disabled and parking the other got lost and was ten minutes away. There were 13 OPEN TABLES and they refused to seat us because our senior friends were not present. When the disabled person came in, we asked to sit to drink coffee and peruse the menu while waiting...THEY REFUSED TO SEAT US because our 80 year old friend had not made it. We were the ONLY ones in the waiting area and there were 13 open tables! If we had not been waiting to take our lovely friends to a special breakfast, we would have walked out. There was a lot of old money dining there and we watched them seat some of the obviously wealthy regulars who were also waiting on people, while making us wait. Once seated, we ordered, the food was brought out quickly and we were enjoying our meal when the waitress brought the check to us. We asked for more coffee and she was very put out by this request and while she brought the coffee as requested, she did not speak to us again, she didn't even make eye contact. They were 45 minutes from closing and began cleaning right next to our table while we were eating in an attempt to rush us. I rarely refuse to tip, but I carry a notepad and wrote the waitress a note explaining why we would not be tipping. We realized some of it was out of her control, but some of it wasn't. We asked her to share the note with management. I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant in my entire life and I was embarrassed that I exposed my elderly friends to such treatment. read more

Went here with a friend for breakfast on her Bday. Waited 20 minutes to get seated, no problem, ordered omelets which were tasty. However, right after we finished eating the waitress brought our ticket and not 5 minutes later the manager came over and asked if we were done as he had people waiting to eat!! We had been at our table for less than an hour and patiently waited to sit. Being from the suburbs of Chicago, we were very excited to learn that there was a new breakfast place in Springfield. Therefore, my friend and I visited this place for breakfast/brunch on a weekday a couple of months ago. The food was okay; but the service was EXTREMELY POOR--the young lady who served us was RUDE, CRUDE and OBNOXIOUS!! Both my friend and I were taken aback--we nearly walked out. When I complained, at checkout, our server was also the checkout register lady, I was told, very defiantly by our server/checkout young lady, that the manager nor the owner were in the store but that I could call if I wanted! The person who checked us out was unpleasant and upset that we asked to have the check split between my friend and myself. The food was typical breakfast fare. Nothing extraordinary. Le Peep is my favorite breakfast place in Springfield. The menu is interesting and diverse, from traditional egg dishess, pancakes and french toast to creative options such as the Shamrock Benedict (an Irish take on eggs benedict featuring corned beef hash). There are also four excellent varieties of egg white omelets for those who want a lighter fare. My favorite is the White Lightning. It's an egg white omelet with chunks of lean chicken and low-fat cheese. It comes with a side of salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Delicious! The Spinnaker (spinach and bacon) is also excellent. You can get either with hash browns, peasant potatoes (seasoned cubed potatoes) or fruit. If you prefer your eggs fully loaded, try one of the skillet combinations such as the gypsy. They come with basted eggs, peasant potatoes and cheese. My husband loves the blueberry pancakes; the blueberry are mixed into the batter instead of just sprinkled on top. Really tasty! Le Peep is on the pricey side, so don't go there if you're looking for a bargain breakfast. They do offer punch cards for frequent customers though. I have always received efficient, friendly service and haven't had to wait more than a few minutes. I like to arrive around 7:30 or 8 before it gets too crowded. If you get there at 9:00 on a Saturday or Sunday you will probably have to wait for a few minutes. It's worth it. read more

The 2 stars are based on my last visit, though I have been several times. I have had 4 star experiences which kept me coming back, but the last did little to entice me to return. Though not as busy as some past, our waitress was really rushing us while trying to appear not to be. She was obviously more interested in turning tables than earning a generous tip. Her motive was clear. In the past, the food has been very good. However, I could eat no more than two bites of the hash browns because they were overloaded with sodium. The sauce on the Eggs Benedict was dark, heavy and separated. The eggs were not poached long enough which made for a really soggy dish. I have experienced great, courteous service, and dishes that were spot on, so I may try again. If so, I will update. read more

My husband and I walked in today (5/23/15) and we told the cashier girl it was a party of 2. She rudely stated "It will be a couple of minutes". My husband and I moved to the waiting area just to see her start seating the rest of the people coming in after us. She seated a total of 3 tables, party of 3, party of 2, and a party of 5. I stood up and told her she just seated all those people that came in after us. All she said was "I'm sorry". I can't even get myself to give them 1 star because their staff is so rude, but I'm forced to give them 1 since my review won't post without a rating. Starting from the cashier, to the servers.
