First time visiting homestyle cafe and was overall really Impressed. Upon entering we were greeted promoted and the place is very welcoming. It appears there's frequent regulars too. I ordered the chicken Philly skillet and it was tasty, flavorful and filling. It came with toast which I had an English muffin. It also came with some salsa and the amazing cheese sauce. I highly recommend keeping the cheese sauce or trying it on the side for you to decide. The Price point is very low too considering the food portion and service. Service was slow. Waited 50 before we got our food and most of it was cold or lukewarm. Waited another 15 minutes just for my toast. The "steak" was just an unseasoned ground beef patty. Will not eat there again. read more

It's Public school cafeteria food.... Go to D&Js cafe it's way better. I was going to keep it short and sweet but Yelp wants me to write more, basically the food is less than mediocre. If you're starving it'll suffice but don't eat here expecting a nice meal like going to Walmart looking for designer clothes. read more

After reading the reviews I needed to check this place out. Found out it has had multiple owners in the past few years and could be the reason for the different reviews. Current owners were wonderful they have updated the inside and are determined to provide quality service and food! Our meal was excellent and our wait was great as well. Really not all that great. The good is lackluster, not tasty & comforting like you'd expect "homestyle" to be. I ended up purchasing a breakfast skillet, it was so-so, I found it to be bland. I'm also not impressed with the bad attitude that I got when I found a hair in my food - however, I will give them credit, they did not charge me for the entree; they did correct the situation. We had high expectations upon walking in to this cafe. There were signs advertising home made meatloaf. I ordered the day's special of fried chicken and it was like it was way over fried. Dry and tough. It came with mashed potatoes that clearly came out of a box....no potato grown in nature is so creamy and lump free that you could drink it through a straw. A side of corn also came with. Now, we just got done driving through about 100 miles of corn fields along I55, why are they serving corn out of a can? And why is it brown in color? Hubby got a poorboy and he said it was mediocre. One daughter's meal was popcorn shrimp....the shrimp were battered with the tails still left on some of them. So they're not so popcorn like, more like cautionary items that may or may not contain inedible parts. That said, the people were fantastic. Very friendly. They seemed happy and enjoying chatting with customers. Our cups never ran dry and service was stellar. read more

This place doesn't look the best from the outside. But you know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover! The food in here is great. Atleast the breakfast is anyways. Everyone loved theirs. It's real classic diner food. I recommend getting something with the hash browns. They are also super cheap. The menu probably averages out at $5. That's crazy for this day and age. read more

my group and I (5 people) were in Springfield for my sons wedding and we ate breakfast here 5 mornings in a row. Great Place. Hot, fresh, great tasting food. Very Friendly and attentive staff, and the best coffee we have had in years! Nothing fancy here just a well run, friendly neighborhood family restaurant that will not let you down.
