Roast leg of lamb sliced table side from the carving trolley
    Jesse M.

You would not expect a fine dining restaurant located inside one of the busiest railway stations in Paris. Le Train Bleu is a historically protected restaurant filled with opulent gold leaf, chandeliers, and painted frescoes for the amazing ambiance. My wife opted for the PLM (Paris Lyon Mediterranee) pre-fixe of the Morel Mushroom Fricassee, steamed cod & Neapolitan rum baba. I opted to go for the Le Menu du Voyageur- Roast leg of local lamb from the carving trolley & potato gratin dauphinois and Caramelised Millefeuille for dessert. Of course, we also ordered the popular Crepe Suzette cooked table side.

Beautiful setting and a memorable meal with Wife and kids.

A true Paris dining experience from start to finish. Beautiful surroundings, exceptional service, and a meal we'll remember long after our trip. Highly recommended. Great family experience that you can remember for a lifetime.

It is a beautiful tourist trap. I made a reservation ahead of time to secure a spot in the main dining room. It should be easy if you book 2 weeks ahead or so. They have back sections with a different, not as interesting menu for walk-ins. Initially they sat us in the back section but moved me after I clarified again that I had an online reservation. Overall the food was ok but not amazing. Staff were nice enough. The foie gras was very rich and smooth. It came on sweet bread. We tried the steamed cod in foam and monkfish medallions with roasted carrot. They were light, decently flavored meals. They offer table side service for items like the lamb.

Probably one of the most stunning restaurants in the world, and in a train station of all places. As many places, this restaurant was originally designed for the 1900 Exposition Universelle. The dining rooms were themed to represent cities and regions in France. And they are exquisite from floor to ceiling. I was told to make sure I made a reservation about a month in advance. I did not, I wasn't sure of my timing through the station. But there's a way to still enjoy the beauty and eat. Le Train Bleu also offers a bar area. Here there are several small lounges with luxury interiors. It is possible to sit in one of these areas, but you may have to wait. My timing was perfect. A 5 minute wait. The cozy spot had gorgeous dark paneling and felt so warm on a December day. The service is impeccable no matter where you sit. The bar menu is quite toned down from the restaurant area. Lighter bites for travelers in between trains. I am a croque Monsieur addicted and wanted one last one before leaving Paris. The presentation was very different from the traditional ones at most bistros. This one was rolled tight and sliced into sections. Still delicious ham and Emmental goodness. A fresh salad was on the side. A bowl of mixed olives arrived shortly after being seated to nibble on while waiting on the meal. Next visit, I enjoy the main dining room!!!

Our group was all about trying this restaurant after what they had heard about it through the Frenchies YouTube channel. We made reservations which was much needed as it was packed on a Tuesday night. The decor was vivid and attractive in that old French style. I ordered the duck frois gras as a starter and the leg of lamb as my main course. The server brought us a small custard of what I believe may have been pumpkin. It was okay. The bread was okay. The frois gras was different than what I have had before (more of a solid pâté with little apricot cubes and an en croute). It was fine. The lamb shank was carved in front of us. It was tender and good. For dessert, I ordered the Crepes Suzette. They were also prepared table side, and it was a nice production. Fire and fun watching. The food here was okay, but you go for the decor, the scene, the "show." It seems to be a must do (at least once).

When you step inside the restaurant it's like going back in time during the Belle Epoque splendor. The setting is simply breathtaking. Lavishly ornate, Le Train Bleu offers one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Paris, if not the world. It's easy to forget you're in a functioning train station the atmosphere is serene, romantic, and dripping in Old World charm. And at that very moment you start feeling the heat inside ( it was unusually hot for that evening inside the restaurant) and a few sips of cold big bubble sparkling water did settle us down and clam our nerves a bit The menu pays homage to classic French cuisine, with a modern finesse. Anthony and Ali were our hosts serving our table and did a fantastic job. Professional, courteous, and formal; exactly what you'd expect from a historic institution. They were multilingual and made a genuine effort to enhance the dining experience. For our evening, we ordered the Tender leek cake that comes with Tapioca and was absolutely amazing and we definitely took our time with every bite. Along with that we ordered the Skate fish fillet that comes with a side of mashed potatoes, again done to perfection. Lastly, we had the crispy crabmeat served on avocado bed and shellfish mayo that really made our dinner exquisite. Enjoyed every morsel to the full. That said, some dishes can feel slightly overpriced for what they are as you're partly paying for the ambiance. But when the food hits, it really makes it all worth it. Le Train Bleu is an experience in itself. Ideal for special occasions or travelers ( located right in the heart of Gare de Leon station helps a ton) seeking a cinematic slice of Parisian elegance. It's not a casual meal, nor is it meant to be but if you're willing to indulge, it's absolutely worth the journey.

Absolutely stunning decor!! We felt like we were in a lavish French museum. Established in 1901 for the Exposition Universelle, Le Train Bleu is located within the Gare de Lyon railway station . Opulent Belle Époque interior, featuring ornate gilded moldings, crystal chandeliers, and 41 grand murals painted by prominent artists of the early 20th century. These artworks depict various regions of France. The restaurant' earned it the status of a Monument Historique since 1972. We went there for a nice breakfast before starting our day in Paris. I had the Omelette with smoked salmon. OMG, the best omelette I've ever tasted!! Luxurious simplicity--mellow, buttery, tender, and softly savory with a hint of rich Gruyère to coat the palate. My gf had the Baguette and toasted cereal bread, Isigny butter, jam or honey. A classic French breakfast. If I could get baguette and butter this good at home, it would be my classic breakfast too!! Happy Eating!!

Went for the view, stayed for the food. One of the few places where the food was perfect. Highly recommending this place for dinner, or lunch and for beautiful pictures. The restaurant is located inside the train station so it is a fun experience to overdress and walk through the station to reach your location!

What a beautiful venue located inside a modern train station but with amazing gilded and ornate details from the staircase to the massive painted scenes on the ceiling and walls. We did a little research before selecting this place knew they were famous for their crepe Suzette. But before dessert we splurged and ordered the caviar and we opted to share the yummy sea bass in a lovely brown sauce with gnocchi, olives, asparagus and red peppers (not spicy). I highly recommend making this a stop on your visit to Paris for lunch or dinner, before or after your train ride.

This absolutely spectacular restaurant is located in the Gare de Lyon train station. We arrived a little after 4:00 p.m. We told the waiter that we just wanted a drink and appetizers, and he kindly seated us in the restaurant area instead of the lounge. All I can say is . . . WOW!! It is breathtaking and beautiful, just pure opulence. The charcuterie and bread was delicious. However, I LOVED the olives and garlic! The whole experience was just indescribable!

Located at Gare de Lyon, Le Train Bleu is extravagantly decorated in the Belle Époch style. Gilded arches, painted ceilings, & ornate chandeliers transport you to a golden time in France. While the dishes are as sophisticated as the interiors, I can't say the taste held a candle to less fancy establishments we tried on this Paris trip. Each plate was painstakingly made beautiful & the flavor combinations were creative enough to be memorable, but this is a place you visit mainly for the experience & the ambiance. One companion enjoyed her Pâté en Croûte (32 €), another person was less enthused about her cod loin with basmati rice (43 €.) I ordered the roast chicken in brown sauce with eggplant (40 €.) Tough chicken & undercooked eggplant so I cannot recommend my dish. The cheese course (16 € for five varieties) was excellent. The comte, savarin, brie, & camembert were so deeply flavored. I didn't try the goat cheese but I hear it was equally as tasty. Desserts were 19 € each. The pistachio soufflé with cherry sorbet was light & airy, with the pistachio flavor also leaning a little light for our preference. We ordered a Menton lemon cake, of sorts, as the citrus is local to a French Riviera town. Satisfyingly tart & so fresh, we really enjoyed this one. Friendly, energetic servers. The plating is Michelin quality. And the decor is a feast for the eyes. Sure, make a reservation at Le Train Bleu; just balance it out with meals at more casual cafes for a well-rounded taste of what Paris has to offer.

Great experience, amazing service and lots great choices to wine and dine. Perfect evening for couples in a fashionable venue. Bucket list for Paris lovers.

    Cheese selection to perfection
    Beau H.

Our fantastic server Eli was a hardworking table side chef who made everything while smiling the entire time. As the restaurant got busy, Eli adapted perfectly and we felt very taken care of and attended to. We recommend the Cheese selection for the starter and the series of sorbets as a pallet cleanser. Le Train Bleu lives up to every single part of the hype you see from any given social media platform. The staff is great and can handle this high volume restaurant with ease. The amount of staff members we encountered were kind and sharp with their presentation. My recommendations are that when dining here, you share everything. The scallop dish is my favorite while accompanied with champagne and the beef tar tar is perfection with a solid bottle of Bordeaux. Many menu items are arranges table side and impeccable in their ingredient explanation as you see what the items are and agree to each before they are mixed in. Make your reservations early for this place and if you are arriving to Gare Lyon beforehand make sure you give a 45 minute timeframe as they do have a bar you can position yourself at while they prepare your table and a great valet service to check your hand baggage. The interiors are true rococo and dripping with that dreamy luxury French vibe that you must see in person to experience. Merci Beaucoup, Le Train Bleu! You did not disappoint at all! We shall be back!

While I love NYC's Buvette, La Buvette is an entirely different sort of restaurant and is my NUMBER ONE recommendation for friends visiting Paris who enjoy natural wine/small plates/a slightly chaotic atmosphere. I make sure to come here as many times as I can whenever I visit Paris, and I've even gone to a La Buvette pop-up in NYC when the chef came last year. I'm definitely a La Buvette groupie. A buvette is a restaurant that sells wine to go and to drink in situ, along with a selection of small plates. While I hate the ubiquity of the term 'tapas' to describe dishes that are not quite entree-sized, you can think of La Buvette's dishes as basically tapas: smaller portions meant to be ordered in multiple and shared over a bottle of wine. The wine selection here is tightly curated and I've never had a glass that I disagreed with -- everything is pretty simpatico if you're into this style of wine, and the staff are quite helpful in steering you toward bottles you might enjoy. In past visits, I've often found myself ordering over half the menu, which is written on a mirror-board on the wall and changes daily. Everything is quite simple, made with excellent ingredients, and quite good. Note: this is not a full-service kitchen, so don't expect an elaborate dinner. Think of this as an appreciation of simplicity and purity of flavor, and you'll have a much better time than if you expect a 10-hour cassoulet or something. Get some cheeses and charcuterie, and absolutely get the big white beans with citrus zest. Savor the flavors. While I'd love for this to remain a hidden gem, the secret has definitely gotten out, and it's not really much of a "neighborhood" establishment anymore. Expect a line unless you get there quite early, and note that you won't have any privacy because the space is tiny, and you may end up drinking your wine standing by a tiny corner of the counter. To me, that's part of the charm, and Camille Fourmont has created quite a remarkable place that I find simply perfect. It's a must-visit in Paris!
