We had a 7:30 reservation for 2. We were seated promptly. The service is good, and the servers are friendly. The food, in our opinion, did not live up to expectations and was mediocre. We ordered the Ceviche de Dorade, the Filet of Beef and the Dorade aux Herbes. For me, the Ceviche was a bit odd and consisted of sliced Dorade mixed with a sauce that tasted and looked like mayonnaise. I did not taste any citrus nor did I see any tomatoes, chiles, cilantro or onions which are usually in a typical Ceviche. It was under- seasoned and just didn't work for me. The steak was tough. It came with a yellowish sauce which was bland. It resembled, but did not taste like, a thin Bearnaise sauce. The steak came with mash potatoes which were good. The Dorade consisted of a whole fish on the bone. It was cooked perfectly but was under- seasoned and just a little bland. Otherwise it was good. Our dining experience was not the same as other reviewers. We found the service to be very good, but the food to be underwhelming. read more

Absolutely perfect experience. Hidden behind the rue de Rivoli in the historical Marais district, Mademoiselle did not disappoint. Starting with the warm octopus in a balsamic reduction, tender and meaty, we were wowed, even though the 18 Euros for it seemed steep at first. Then came the seafood main dishes. An amazing scalop and Madagascar shrimp risotto for my wife and a whole bar with veggies for me. Absolute perfection and I'm not even a fish lover usually, but this one was so tender and tasty, it won me very quickly. Finally we shared the lemon tart with spéculos base. Tart, but they give you a lot of mascarpone to soften everything. I liked it a lot, but Americans used to sweet desserts should probably look for something else. Finally, as we were ready to pay, our sweet french waitress offered us a digestive. We picked amaretto, which was very nice and smooth. We were both happy of our evening. read more

After one bite I knew this place would be one of my favorite places! It's the morning after the fabulous meal and I am still trying to figure out what seasonings they used to make it so delicious. The most impressive dish was the appetizer..... the main component was octopus. It was not only exceptionally delicious, it was very tender as well. I want to say it had a balsamic reduction..... We found this place from Rick Steves book for Paris. Down a side street but easy to find. Friendly servers. Smaller place but nice quaint atmosphere. The food, wine and dessert were-very good. Decent size portions. We shared an appetizer, each had an entree and shared a dessert. Price was very reasonable and we left with full stomachs. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and it just so happened to be one of our best meals of our trip. It is tucked away, off the main road, and this brings with it a quieter and more intimate ambiance. Service was fantastic from start to finish. While we were able to understand a good chunk of the menu, they were happy to help translate the French that escaped us and provide recommendations. We started with the buffalo mozzarella. It was incredible. So fresh and literally melted in my mouth. The bread was equally fresh and delicious. My honey got the duck. I didn't try it although he said to give it five stars because it was delicious. I did try his mashed potatoes, which were creamy and buttery and delicious. I had a fish (sea bass) that was perfectly cooked, not the least bit fishy, and literally fell right off the bones. It was accompanied by a large portion of al dente green beans and a small, lightly dressed spinach salad. For dessert, we shared the citrus tart with a speculoos crust. The flavor was a nice balance of tart and sweet. I love that they brought us the whole container of grand marnier whipped cream (see photo), completely trusting us with our own portion control. We were told that reservations aren't necessary during the week, although you may want to stop by early to check-in. read more

#2 best meal I have ever had! Took a recommendation from Mr. Rick Steves and searched out this place. It's definitely off the beaten path away from the tourist areas (that's a plus). Tucked away behind an apartment building and a church sits this cozy former coal sellers shop turned charming restaurant, frequented by tourists and locals alike. Food: Wow, wow, wow. Buffalo mozzarella appetizer (enough for 4), freshest mozzarella we have had anywhere outside of Italy. We had a petite filet (anything but small) with a pepper and cream sauce that was the stuff dreams are made of. Also a sliced duck breast in a peanut curry with a side of rice, difficult to put into words how delicious it was. Simply phenomenal meal and service. If you have the room, order a desert too. The whole meal was on the pricier side of what we have previously had in Paris, but cheaper than an average steakhouses style restaurant in the US. I could talk about the phenomenal rack of lamb, so gorgeously roasted that it possessed both a stunningly caramelized exterior and a pink-throughout, ungodly tender cut through three solid inches (aka seven centimeters) of shank. This was a thesis in protein work. Or I could talk about the mechanical dumbwaiter, sitting center to a cozy, typically French bistro interior, perfect for a vacation date (us) or a spontaneous meal post-proposal (the couple next to us). Instead, I'll talk about how the staff of three closed down the restaurant by inviting us to the bar for shots of some infused spicy-sweet spirit and a rousing round of "nobody knows each other's native tongue well enough, but hey fuck it, we're in Paris, let's all laugh and drink booze on the house." We left Sacre Coeur AT SUNSET to eat here because of the food, staff & ambiance. With six nights in Paris, I'm glad we took Rick Steves' recommendation for Chez Mademoiselle early on in our trip. We dined here after a Saturday night concert at Saint-Paul Saint-Louis. Unlike American restaurants, this is a late night eatery. The staff was welcoming & spoke English. One even dined there on his night off! The food is that good. We ordered the dorade & coq au vin, which according to the owner Alexia was substituted with beef bourguignon when the chicken didn't meet their standards. Both dishes were very flavorful & her wine recommendations paired wonderfully. We finished with the cheese plate from her neighbor's farm. As the night progressed, the mood became more fun-spirited. The music transitioned from jazz to "Love come down" & Madonna's "Holiday." We left feeling like this was the "Cheers" for foodies in Paris. So we returned two nights later, taking the metro directly there after finishing a Montmartre tour. We dined on scallops with risotto, beef with potato gratin & chocolate mousse, which came with an equally-sized side of whipped cream. Everything tasted as good as our first experience. Being our last night in Paris, I was thankful when the staff kindly took my request to play Madonna again. We left feeling like regulars as we walked along the Seine timed to catch the sparkling Eiffel tower. Chez Mademoiselle was a highlight of our trip. We cannot wait to return! Update: My first meal at this restaurant was nearly a decade ago. We've eaten here many times over the years. For much of the first 5 to 7 years of eating here, it was primarily a locals restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. The change over the last 5 or so years has been noticeable and dramatic. We've overlooked the decline in service and food as this is a place with a lot of memories for us. Sadly, like several long term dining favorites in Paris, Chez Mademoiselle has turned into a spot for tourists surviving on once well deserved acclaim. The menu is, in so many respects, exactly the same; though what is served is a faint shadow of what it used to be. The service that used to be lovely and at a typical Parisian pace (which we enjoy), has become more like eating at a poorly run chain restaurant in the USA. Reminiscent of bad service at a poorly run Chile's or Applebees franchise. After a few disastrous meals -- both in terms of service and quality of food -- we are forced to recognize that this is just not the Chez Mademoiselle that we once loved. Time to move on. The lemon tart with speculos crust. I have to start with that because that was the highlight of my dinner at this beautiful restaurant hidden away in the backstreets of the Marais. In fact, all the deserts at our table were pretty outstanding. From the honey glazed pineapple which was then torched(?) to the chocolate mousse... make sure you leave room. The restaurant is owned by a young married couple and has been open for about a year according to them. It has a beautiful ambiance and great lighting which make it a perfect place for a romantic dinner at twilight. They treated us to amaretto digestif after our check when we told them we were their neighbors. Classy! We started off with the mozzarella ball which I do not recommend (just 250 gram ball of not so spectacular mozz cheese). I wish I had tried the foie gras or another appetizer. Our table of 4 had 3 different fish entrees and one beef filet and all were superb but slightly sparsely garnished. My sole had a side of green beans...meh. My wife's filet was perfect and it came with potato puree which was delish. I hope to be back at this place soon to try other appetizers and desserts. read more

Missed our yacht anniversary Dinner on the Seine due to the strike and the neverending traffic so looked for a restaurante nearby on a Saturday night. This one was walking distance from the port and had mixed reviews. About 9:30 PM and hungry. Got there the place was packed - we sat at the bar while we waited for a table - the guys were more than kind - some champagne before dinner - opened a 2011 St Emilion Grand Cru....then we delved into an exquisite eggplant and goat cheese appetizer.....my wife ordered the Tuna which may very well be the best tuna we have tried to date....I had the beef wish was really good.....and we finished with a lemon/orange tart with house whipped cream ...simply spectacular. Even though our original plans were screwed we had the most wonderful meal in a romantic setting with excellent service. Thank you Chez Madmeoiselle! read more

I just love Yelp! I recently came to Paris on a business trip and as soon as I hit the ground I was Yelping for good spots to take coworkers for dinner. I'm known as the "social chairman", which means I get to pick the places we go! I saw this place and couldn't believe it was five stars with over 60 reviews! After checking the pics and menu it was a no brainer. However, I double checked with the hotel concierge and got an emphatic OUI!! The place is small and simple. It probably seats a total of 25 people and was 2/3 full on a Wednesday evening. We were greeted with a smile by a lovely woman that turned out to be hostess / waitress / bartender! Despite all these duties, the service was impeccable. We stared with a bottle of champagne while she walked us through the reds. We ended up with a recommended Bordeaux that was delicious. I had the pumpkin soup to start and we shared a giant ball of buffula mozzarella and fresh bread. Yum! For dinner, I had steak and fries. The steak was medium rare to perfection and the quality of the cut was fantastic. For dessert, I enjoyed a lemon tart with a jar, yes jar, of mascarpone whipped cream. WTF?! After dinner she just drops a bottle of limoncello on the table and didn't even keep up with our drinks. On the way out, she gave us hugs and a free sip of macerated rum! It has been soaking with pineapple, chili peppers, vanilla beans, and God knows what for God knows how long. It was the most fragrant and tasty end to a meal I've EVER experienced. The other reviews are spot on about this place. It was definitely a wonderful spot for dinner. There was plenty of outdoor seating (indoors was not air conditioned) and the host was able to get us seated with menus in a short amount of time. Even though the restaurant is "kid friendly" there is not a kids menu. We ordered a filet mignon and the tuna entree to share with the kids, which they enjoyed. Both entrees came with a little spring mix salad and the filet came with fries. We also got the asparagus with the poached egg & lemon (delightful!) and the eggplant (aubergine) stuffed with goat cheese & pine nuts. All of our dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Dinner was finished off by a complimentary shot of amaretto. Perfect way to finish the evening! read more

Our favorite dinner in all of Paris. Sure there's a million places to try in that city, so take for what it's worth. The atmosphere is perfect Parisian. Small, cozy, dim, exposed stone walls and an old elevator that the waiter was happy to describe to offer the history on. The two men running the front were both extremely friendly and pleasant. Service was prompt but timed well. They even offered us after dinner appertifs on the house. The food was divine. Just perfect. Steak au poivre turned out to be a top quality piece of good sized steak that any American steakhouse would be proud to serve. I don't know what they fry the pommes frites in but it was amazing. Sauce was, well, perfectly French. The wine was of course great - it's France after all. This is the only restaurant I'm reviewing because it's oh so worth it. It's hard to go wrong with the food in Paris, but this place was especially delicious. We don't speak (or read) any French, but don't be intimidated that they don't serve an English menu. A waiter was able to translate everything for us and was really helpful. We started with a seafood carpaccio that was fresh and delicious. We got the veal ribs which came with the most amazing mushroom sauce and the rack of lamb. Both of us were over the moon with our food. Finished with the chocolate mousse which was rich and delicious. A wonderful, small restaurant hidden on a side street with dining inside and at outdoor cafe tables. We stopped for lunch outdoors; fish special was excellent with wonderful flavors and a delightful mustard based shrimp/avocado side salad. Later in the week, we returned for dinner...also exceptional. Service helpful and speak English well and with a smile. Bottom line....we were in Paris for three weeks and explored delicious French meals at numerous establishments - - but this is the single restaurant we returned to for a repeat visit because we found it to be the best food on the trip. read more
