I love it with tofu and coconut milk and it's AMAZING! The lunch portions are just right; they won't be so huge as to drag you down for the rest of the afternoon and big enough to satisfy. I've completely forgotten the name of the warm, green cakey dessert that's always on the menu (papaya?); thick, satisfying and SOOO tasty! Yes, it's a bit on the costly side, but the quick and friendly service and the fresh and airy ambience make the price totally worth it. Five stars! Go go go! You won't regret it.

Upon a quick look at the menu it was clear that the prices here were a bit on the high side (ex. an appetizer side salad for $9). We decided to try the mango shrimp salad to share, the red curry beef for me, and the duck for the hub. The food came out quickly, and although the salad was good it was definitely nothing to write home about. I was looking forward to my curry and was really disappointed when it literally had zero flavour. Having had great curries around the city, I was expecting to be met with this warm, all encompassing deliciousness but instead was bored with the tastelessness of the whole dish. Hubby's duck was ok but nothing special. Overall, ended up spending about $70 for the above, and left feeling very unsatisfied.. won't be back :(

The space has a fun, laid-back vibe that makes it perfect for a casual night out. We ordered: * Papaya salad * Wasabi shrimp ceviche * Steak Stuffed Wings: hands down the highlight of the night. It was such a creative, flavorful, and absolutely delicious dish. Every dish felt thoughtful and full of personality. They are creative but not over the top. Would definitely come back again next time I'm in Montreal.

I had a Lucy Liu which was delicious and had a little kick to it. The Thai basil was great counterpoint. The service was helpful and prompt and the gentleman knew the menu well. We started with the pork belly and shrimp chip combo that was in a slight sauce of red curry. The spices and flavor were delicious. We also ordered the pickled vegetables which was refreshing contrast to the meat. We also ordered stuffed chicken wings and green papaya salad. We ended with the desert of mango with sticky rice. The mango was perfectly ripe and sweet and tart enough to contrast with the coconut milk sweetened sticky rice. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the cooks work in the kitchen. The space and ambiance were lovely.

I can't pretend I have experimented entirely with the menu, but my dining partners have been always happy with the pasta dishes and salmon tartar. They also have fresh oysters to start the night with although the three dollars per oyster yesterday seemed a little bit overpriced. Most of the dishes are offered in two sizes, appetizer and main course version, perfect way to control you calories intake or if you want to deviate from the kids menu for your little ones. The goat cheese filo salad during my last visit was delicious. The wine list seems to be dominated by French choices, more then a half of the wines are available by glass, so you are not obliged to go with a bottle. Service is friendly and polite. The best is the terrace during the summer, you can dine or just grab a beer and appetizer outdoors. La Socca may not necessarily deserve a trip to Nun's Island from faraway neighbourhoods, but it is a wonderful dining option if you are nearby.

The restaurant itself is romantic and cozy with many tables and a large bar area and the menu is varied. All I can really tell you, because it was outstanding, is that the steak tartare is an absolute must here! Although we tried a few dishes, I still can't get over how amazing their tartare is and therefore want to center the review on its glorious deliciousness - it's as close to Parisian tartare as you'll get in the city so if you go, you have to order this dish! The service is impeccable, and the food is outstanding. Can't really ask for more! Will definitely be back!

Small restaurant with under 10 tables and a few bar spots. Yes, you need a reservation. If I lived in Montreal, this would absolutely be a once- or twice-a-month spot for me. Our server was wonderful and explained that the menu is designed for sharing. That was really a (nice) surprise, because honestly --- this may be a top 5 best value meal I ever had! We started with the montadito of mackerel with sesame and horseradish. Two pieces to a serving, and I'd say it is a two-bite appetizer. The fish was succulent. Literally melted in your mouth, and the horseradish was fresh, strong, and in all its glory. We also shared a salad of radicchio and escarole with potatoes, bean-aigrette, and pecorino. Really nice portion for two, and for such a simple salad, it was the perfect ease from mackerel into our entree. When we were visiting, we lucked out. Beba had been marinating, massaging, and whatever else one does to make a pork shoulder as tender and delicious as what we experienced. It was a Chef's special and accompanied by some grilled peppers and maitake mushrooms. The portion size was such that (sadly) we had a couple of pieces left over. Literally, I ate until I just could not eat another bite. I cannot recommend Beba more highly. It is truly a gem.
