I had written a review here a while ago, don't know why it is missing now, but have had a lot of work done here and all was great work and awesome prices. My car was keyed down to the body on both sides and Jeff was able to get it all buffed and painted and returned within 10 days, though the insurance company said it would take at least 2 weeks. They gave me a deal through a rental car company, and were able to know down what they charged me for my deductible. Next I had my timing belt and water pump replaced. This is typically a $900+ job for my kind of car and Yoni did it in 3 hours for a HUGE discount because I was very tight on cash at the time. Next, my friend was smacked into by a cab and needed the front end of her Scion rebuilt and went to Jeff, who did a great job apparently and she was very pleased. Most recently, I had new tires put on, two new lower front control arms, bushings, ball bearing, and one front strut and mount replaced. It was all done for basically the price of parts and completed in a day. The guys are personable, helpful, and very relaxed. I would suggest this place for any type of car, but specifically European and expensive foreign cars because their rates and ability will no doubt out-rank any other mechanic around. As a side note, Yoni specializes on Volvo, which is what I have. read more

I am here in Baltimore visiting my family when my engine light on my Frontier went off. My son recommended Leading Edge as they are right down the street but also has done great work for him. I called, they told me to bring it right down they could at least scan the codes to let me know how serious it was. They scanned it immediately on arrival; the code indicated cylinder trouble. They offered to do the work but were already booked out about 10 days. Ultimately I decided to have it towed to Nissan since the work likely would be under warranty. They allowed me to keep my vehicle there until AAA could arrive even though their shop is very busy and crowded with vehicles. In the end they didn't charge me for the scan (which they could have, I was taking them away from actual customers). Long story short, this is a neighborhood based shop with good neighbor attitude. They didn't get me as a customer for this job, but I wouldn't hesitate to go there again- this time for service they can charge for!!! read more

I have had yelp for years and have maybe written one other review. Leading Edge is so great that they are 100% worth writing about. They have saved me literally thousands of dollars to date. I have had 2 cars serviced by them- a diesel and a hybrid and they've been exceptional with both. I've taken my car to them for tire issues, check engine light issues, body work, and inspections. They are across the board the best folks to work with. I've had other places, dealers and otherwise, quote me twice what Leading Edge has. They're also honest when they think it's best to get the work done at another shop. The most incredible thing is for my minor items (patched tire, realign the bumper, check engine light reviews, etc) they've done this all for FREE. I tell all of my friends to go there and they've had similar success with their professionalism/service and also unbeatable prices and quality of work! Leading edge is a gem of a shop- not just for Baltimore but across the east coast. When I move, I will probably still hail my car to Baltimore to get it taken care of here because I don't think the quality can be matched. read more

I love Leading Edge. The guys are very nice and honest. I've had a variety of work done, from door and bumper replacement to oil changes to tire changes. They do excellent work and guarantee everything. Even though I don't live in Baltimore anymore, when I am in town I try to schedule my oil changes or other car maintenance appointments with them because I love the work they do so much. Jeff runs a great business and I would recommend them to anyone looking for auto work. While it may not be the cheapest, it has certainly been the most honest and most reliable auto shop I have ever dealt with. Best auto shop in Baltimore, for sure. I recently came out of a restaurant to find that my sweet little Honda Fit had endured a nasty hit-and-run. The bumper was half-off, the left rear panel was massively dented in -- it was ugly. I'd never needed an auto body shop before and I was SUPER anxious about finding a reputable one. We've all heard horror stories. I am so glad I went to Leading Edge (based on Yelp reviews, actually). Jeff gave me an estimate quickly, worked efficiently with my insurance company adjuster to agree on a price, and answered all of my questions. And even though it was right around Thanksgiving and they were swamped, the work got done efficiently. One thing that really made me feel I'd put my car in good hands was while I was in the waiting room getting my estimate, an elderly woman came in and said her brake light was out. She wanted to know when she could schedule a fix and sounded really worried about having to be without her car for a day. Jeff offered to swap out the bulb right then and there if she had a few minutes to spare, for about ten bucks. You just don't see easygoing, friendly customer service like that anymore! Little things like that make me feel good about giving them my business. My good opinion of them was further affirmed when I picked up my car. The repair and paint job look flawless - my baby was back to her old self! The color matching and pin stripe look great (and I'm super fussy about that, since the orange pearl color is a big part of what drew me to that car in the first place). I sort of hope I don't need to go back to Leading Edge, since that would mean my car has been knocked around. But if I'm ever in that unfortunate position again, I will go back here, no question. read more

These guys are awesome! We discovered them after one of those online coupons - living social or something like that. They are so honest and knowledgeable. It might seem difficult to pull into their parking lot but it really isn't. They would help get you in if you needed. We just went to another mechanic with another coupon for an oil change. They said we needed several items repaired. We called Leading Edge to get their opinion. They were honest as usual and said we didn't need half of what the other place said we did, plus they gave us a quote that was less expensive. This is place is great, use it, love it, use it again. My front end was bashed by a moving truck. Leading Edge took my car in right away, bugged the offender's insurance company until they covered allllll the damage, and was great in giving me updates and in general being nice to me while I was worried about my car. When I went to pick it up all I had to do was give them the keys to my rental, which they handled for me, and drive off. My car looks better than when I bought it. I have been experiencing so many issues with my vehicle, purchased new from Hyundai of Bowie. After multiple dealer drop offs and what seems like endless, egregiously expensive repairs, I was told to try getting new brakes and an alignment to address one issue. Hyundai wanted to charge an arm and a leg. I found a Groupon for Leading Edge and decided the deal was worth the 30 + min drive. I cannot express how impressive this shop is. Their professionalism, honesty, and integrity was top notch! The staff was friendly and thorough. In addition to brake pads (Groupon deal), I had new front rotors put on and an alignment. Although they were busy, they completed everything so swiftly, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Their alignment charges are some of the best in the area. My car is driving fantastically now. Leading Edge was recommended to me after calling Brentwood automotive and I will definitely now return here for future car work. My parked car had been hit and I needed an estimate to provide to the other person's insurance. Shawn was thorough and efficient in creating this report and able to explain the different parts in labor. The price was very reasonable and it is clear that they are not trying to take advantage of you. Unrelated to this repair, I inquired about a fume smell I'd been sensing. They were able to look into it and identify that I needed new spark plugs & coils. Although it's not what I when in for, they were still able to make the additional repair in the few days they had the car and again offered a good rate. There's a reason this shop is rated "Baltimore's Best"! Leading Edge is state of the art auto repair. I took my 2017 Ford Escape there for front end body repair following a crash. This vehicle was the Titanium model, fully equipped with parking and collision sensors in the front bumper, plus upgraded factory paint. I never thought that it would get put back together. But Leading Edge did it. Not only were the repairs done impeccably, but the seams matched, the paint matched, all the sensors worked...and frankly, the entire vehicle was detailed and looked show room new. My expectations were exceeded. Additionally, while the vehicle was being repaired, I got regular phone call updates from the shop, telling me where they were in the repair process. Someone tapped my bumper and dislodged it. I stopped into Leading Edge get it straightened out. They used their special bumper tools to straighten everything out - and did not charge for their service. They are running their business to do good work and gain your trust. Leading Edge is SO trustworthy! Jeff and Ryan are the best. They have helped me with all my car problems in Baltimore. I recommend them to ALL my friends! I've even recommended friends who live in Philadelphia.It's so worth finding a mechanic who you trust especially when you live out in Baltimore City and your car gets dinged here and there from the most unexpected events. Car was at Leading Edge for over 5 weeks or 2.5 times longer than the initial deadline. Total reimbursement was nearly *3 times* (yes, three) the initial estimate of $3,000. My car value was less than the total bill. Note, this accident was not serious. Everyone drove away after exchanging information and no one wanted to call the police. Leading Edge did work that was not authorized by me nor my insurance company. They refused to take any credit card for my portion of the bill. Who has hundreds of dollars in cash lying around at home? I would gladly volunteer information and feedback to my insurance company should they want to pursue formal action. When the shop had my car, I was afraid of speaking up or talking the manager in fear of someone damaging my car. To date, nothing on my car fell off or malfunctioned, so I'm happy about that. Supposedly there's a lifetime warranty on the paint job but I would never ever go back to Leading Edge (even for "free" touch-ups). I have told all my friends and co-workers to NOT go here. I don't know how they have strong Yelp and Google ratings. Maybe they don't rip off cash-paying customers. I'm a very reasonable, empathetic person who has worked since age 14 at various jobs and self-supported through college. I don't have unrealistic demands and give people the benefit of the doubt at the expense of my time and money. I hope it's clear to others that the service here is extremely slow and that insurance will be milked, thus driving up premiums for everyone. read more

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with any service establishment. I was traveling north from Atlanta to New York in a borrowed car and I dented the front bumper. I was in a rush to get it fixed and pulled into Leading Edge. It was about 93 degrees outside and yet the guys at leading edge hopped right on it. They fixed the dent in about 15 minutes and then when I went to tip the guy he said they didn't accept tips. Moreover when I went to pay they refused any compensation at all since it was a short job. Went there today because I had a screw in my tire. My first time bringing my car here. They were very fast. I was here for less then 20 mins, maybe even less! I can't say anything negative about my experience except, my goodness, their lot is tight! Saw them move two cars, they are obviously very experienced in maneuvering through the sea of vehicles! I decided to purchase a coupon for a discounted signature oil change, tire rotation and car wash after seeing it on groupon. I made an appointment 3 weeks before I came in during a lunch break to get the services done on my car and after that appointment, I can't say that I will be back. See, I used to move around a lot, so I've been to plenty of places to get my oil changed and this place by far took the longest! Even after making an appointment weeks ahead of time... still ended up waiting well over two hours for an oil change! People were coming in after me with freaking repairs and leaving before I ever did. I guess they thought I wasn't in the shop, but I overheard one of the two guys in the office asking when my car was going to be done. The other man then responded "She can wait, she has a groupon". I couldn't believe it! Not only that, they couldn't even complete the car wash because they said that it was too cold outside. Though they did offer to do the car wash another time, there is no way I'm going to drive all the way back there and wait like I did last time just to get my car washed. It was a complete waste of my time and I definitely don't plan on coming back. :( read more

This is a terrific local business. I've used them for twenty or so years, and they've always come through great work, honesty, and a smile. I trust them to diagnose my car's problem properly and to charge a reasonable price. They'll give you a lift home after you drop off your car. They're a great asset to the Mt. Last month, this Covid exhausted physician came out to my car to find that some huge black truck had apparently backed into the compact space next to mine and his bumper had ripped my front fender half off. I was too tired to hunt down the ' driver'. So took pics and headed out, hoping the piece would not drag or fall off. It had been another long sad day of Covid and cancer and I was going to just go home, but 83 was blocked so I took Falls Rd. I decided to drop into Leading Edge just to ask if it was worth reporting to the insurance vultures. Not only did Joe give me a quick ballpark estimate with out without fixing the scratch, but when I asked if it would fall off, he said, hold on a minute. Next thing I knew he had a tool? Drill and had placed a bolt putting it back in place. All good he said. He refused any payment. I almost cried. We have gone here for years. They are honest, do exemplary work, will fight the insurance for you, and that random act of kindness saved my day. There may be cheaper, less busy places, but this is the only place we trust. read more

Entire staff was very courteous especially Office Manager Ryan and Anthony. After finishing the services, Anthony told me that since the service took too long (around 2 hours), they would not charge me! My first visit here was great. I got a free estimate on fixing a dent in my car, and they even buffed the paint over the dent for free. Later we went back for the oil change/car wash special, and they told us we needed new brake pads. Maybe we did--we should have checked. Anyway, when my husband took the car in to get the brake pads replaced, one of the mechanics told him we needed new shocks and that the transmission fluid was leaking. The guy kind of pressured him, telling him that if he didn't want to replace the shocks, he'd better sell the car. So... we waited until some mechanic friends were in town and had them take a look at the car. No transmission fluid leak, and the shocks are fine. read more

Update: 2015 - 0 Star So very disappointed. I thought I could trust Leading Edge because of my past experience. My brother is young so I thought this will be okay if I give him a chance to handle his accident with someone I trust. Wow, was I wrong. First, my brother took the car for an estimate and Ryan told my brother that the damage will cost $1.5k. Then, insurance gave us a call and said Leading Edge requested additional $3k and stated all of these repairs. In the mean time, we didn't even get a single call from Jeff or Ryan about these repairs or ask us if we want to get these repairs done. When we called, our estimate of 1 week of repair turned into 3 weeks. When we questioned why the drastic increase in estimate, we were told they didn't see the damage until they started digging and taking things apart. That's understandable. So we waited 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, nothing. We called again on daily basis because they wouldn't tell us what's going on. Now, we finally got the car back. On the way home, I noticed that I have problem stopping the car and when I tried to brake, one of the wheels was very loud. I got out of the car to inspect and noticed that the front tire had no treading. I took it to a shop nearby to get a second opinion. The shop told me that the front tire had no treading left at all (whereas all other 3 had same amount of treading left) which could be sign of alignment issue. We had just changed all 4 tires at the same time prior to the accident. So I know they are not lying to me. We called Jeff to ask if they had inspected the front tire and the alignment and was told that they test drove it with no issues and that I was being paranoid. So I'm either paranoid or between the accident and after I brought it back, my tire magically lost 1/4" of treading. I am no mechanics but I do have eyes and I can tell you how uncomfortable it is to drive on a SUV with 1 unbalanced tire, especially you can't even stop your car fast enough at a red light. It is very unfortunately that now I'm back to finding another place that I can trust. 2011 - 5 Stars I absolutely love Leading Edge. I've never been more impressed with a business place. Jeff really takes really good care of his customers. I had quite a lot of work done but Jeff gave a great discount. He calls me every other day to update me on the status and gave me his honest opinions of what he thinks of my situation. Mark is an artist. He did a great job with my baby. We've been using Leading Edge for 8 years now Jeff, Yanni, and the Leading Edge team started looked after our 2001 Corolla and 2002 Subaru before we traded both in. The repair prices were reasonable (1/2 to 2/3 the cost of the dealership in most cases) and the work done right the first time. They start out with a car by doing a full assessment of the state of the car. THis should not be misunderstood as anything other than a way for you to have a baseline. It is really great in terms of helping you understand the outlook for your vehicle.. When it came to the work, as I said, Leading Edge was more reasonable and less likely to quote problems. Twice, my dealer did warranty work on a chronic issue, then did not honor fixing work only after a few months. Leading Edge provided pictures of the problem the dealer did not fix properly so I could actually get proper follow-up service from my actual car dealer. An example is that they changed brakes for less cost and when they were actually worn, vs. suggesting an earlier change when life was still left. Plus, we have used them for body work. When our minivan was severely damaged in a hit and run, their body shop executed a difficult repair. They fixed the minvan in the specified time such that it was almost like new, and they resolved the few glitches that came up after (lots of electronics to go wrong) in a very timely manner. Jeff has always been very helpful, and the current staff of Ryan and Mike up front are great. Clear communicators, which is a must.. We have referred three friends there who have been happy too. read more
