I had a small accident in Baltimore. I googled shops and this came up. I regret ever having taken my car there. just got off the phone with the dealership, my transmission is DEAD because these guys failed to reset the axle properly and now after I paid these guys $2,000 to fix my car, they caused damage that will be about $8,000. I am a lawyer and I plan to sue them if they do not pay for the repairs directly to the shop. Not only that, but I have the bill where they charged for a "new fender" part, and the fender was clearly the same one with the dent pulled, that is actually criminal fraud and I am going to work with the Baltimore State's Attorney's office to have the responsible employee charged criminally. The only way they can fix this is to pay for the Cadillac dealership to fix my car, otherwise 1. I am going to sue the hell out of them (fraud is an intentional tort, and there will be punitive damages), and 2. I am going to have someone incarcerated for fraud. I have proof from the dealership that whoever worked on the front left axle was the responsible party. This situation will not turn out well for the shop. The owner of the vehicle is my brother, and therefore I am going to bill my standard attorney fee rate of $400 per hour on this case. They will be responsible not just for the $8,000 repair, but also for $8,000 in attorney's fees, plus their own attorney's fees, plus the punitive damages (I am going to ask for $20,000). The cheapest way for JT Auto to resolve this would be to pay the Caddy dealership to repair my car. That will cost JT Auto $8,000. If they fight me, that will cost them between $20,000-36,000 (because of the punitive damages from the intentional fraud). If you're going to rip off a customer with fraudulent work and shoddy workmanship, you better make sure you know who you are ripping off. read more

JT Automotive had great reviews to support the stars. So the instant/immediate response to my quote request blew me away, so they earned their 1st star. Availability was next day with a easy drop off process; they earned the 2nd star. Stayed in contact with me while servicing the vehicle and asking for consent; 3rd star earned. Explained the situation which enabled me speak intelligently with my after-maket installer about a the error message AND addressed a couple of other matters including an oil change I paid for previously elsewhere (ugh!) - they earned their 4th star. Dropped my car off with several issues to be diagnosed. Told them what I'd already tried and about recent work to the car. Called me back a few hours later to tell me my computer and timing chain are bad, but couldn't fford the work (it was a fair price quote I will admit). Got into the engine and the timing chain was perfectly fine. Also found that the throttle body was missing a bolt, the computer is fine. The guy didn't even look at my car, didn't even open the hood. If he would have bothered he'd have seen the missing bolt and known the issue. Car was in the same parking spot when I got back, seat in the same position, steering wheel same position, car wasn't touched. Charged me almost 200 bucks for a guess based on what little information I gave, but all they know I could be an idiot. Never again. read more

Was having the hardest time finding help replacing my license plate (special screw and it was really tight) I called JT Automotive spoke with Tom he said to come in and he'd see what he could do. When I got there he was able to help me right away and noticed the tags I was putting on we're about to expire (I was waiting to get work done for my inspection cause I was quoted $800 at least from another place) Tom told me he was sure he could do it cheaper. Don't waste your time going anywhere else - JT Auto is the best shop in town. Honest shop that gets it done fair and fast. I just moved to Baltimore, and I took my Subaru Forester to All Phase Auto Repair to get inspected. Later that day they quoted me $5,400 (!!!) to fix all the problems needed to pass. So obviously I didn't go back there. After a quick Yelp search, I found JT Auto, and he fixed everything for under half that cost. Now, $2k for a single job sounds like a lot, but let me just list what they fixed: - Replaced entire front passenger control arm and ball joint ($300). - Replaced the catalytic converter and all exhaust piping behind it ($500). - Replaced entire steering rack and pinion ($580). That's just the parts cost. They also added a new belt kit and did an oil change. When you add it all up, they ended up charging only ~$600 for labor. Let me just emphasize - these were SERIOUS problems (the exhaust has gapping holes in it, and the front-right control arm was so bad the wheel was about to fall off). This was a MAJOR job, and I don't think you can beat the price they gave me anywhere. Now, that's just the money - all said, I would call that a very fair deal. But here's why I like JT Auto: these guys are straight to the point. I knew this job wasn't going to be cheap, but they literally showed me each individual problem on the car before talking it over. They didn't throw in any of the usual "recommended" BS - just pointed out the serious stuff that needed to be fixed and gave me a fair price. Finally, on top of everything, my airbag system was apparently off and I didn't know it! (I had the car detailed a few months back, and those clowns broke a wire in the process which disabled my airbag system). While my car was in the shop, the guys here figured out the problem, soldered the wire back, and reset my airbag system - all free of charge. That's the kind of mechanic you want. I went to my usual dealership repair shop to get a maintenance check up since they always send me coupons. Knowing they're more expensive than necessary for actual repairs, I searched on Yelp and found that JT Automotive had great reviews so I messaged them for a coolant exchange quote. They replied really quickly and I scheduled an appointment for the same week. When I came in, I also asked about an automatic transmission fluid exchange and he quoted me right away and offered me a discount. I ended up getting both repairs done for much less than I would have at the dealership shop and it was pretty quick too- an hour for transmission and they were already done with the coolant by the time I reached a cafe to wait. If you have a bigger repair that will take a while, Greenmount Coffee Lab is a 10 minute walk away and has free WiFi. There are also a few other Internet cafes in the area, just a little farther. read more

I went in for what was supposed to be a simple tail light fix, but nothing's ever that easy with my car. It turned out to be a super complicated wiring issue, and he informed me of everything that was going on and what he was trying. He was more transparent than any other place has ever been, and even gave me a ride home after they figured out it was going to take longer than they thought! The estimate was beyond reasonable, despite having to do an extra ton of work because my car is annoying. They were able to finish it the same day even after having to order parts! omg!! firstly, this jt guy curses his employees out right in front of you, which is not only extremely uncomfortable to experience people being verbally abused live, but it's completely illegal. he called me after having my car for a few hours to change only brake pads and rotors and told me it fell off his lift and is not drive-able!! they are telling me my car is totaled!! he told me he was obviously not charging me for the brakes and rotors since clearly this is negligence, and my insurance company just told me they couldn't tow my car because he is holding my car hostage until he is paid for the brakes and roters!! have you ever heard anything like this before???? read more

I'm going to start by saying how difficult a task it is to find a decent mechanic that won't attempt to rip you off. Tom (the owner @ JT) succeeded my expectations. What a nice guy! Purchased 06July18 * Pulled out of parking lot and water was leaking from the hard top. Was informed I was going to need to replace the "whole plastic piece" from the shop. I pointed to the roof and said, that whole plastic piece and the lady says, yes, the whole thing. Went back up and talked to Charles and Ty about having to replace the whole hard top (its plastic on the inside). They spoke with Devin who clarified that it was just the rubber seal and they would take care of it. 9July2018 * Took jeep out to test 4 wheel drive. When in 4low or 4high and in a turning motion, the jeep starts making a clicking/grinding noise and is leaking fluid. This is only happening in 4x4 10July18 * Went back to the dealership and explained the issue. After their mechanic looked at it, it was determined the u-joints needed to be oiled. They also explained the leaking fluid was because of the u-joints. They also replaced the rubber seal on the roof. 13July18 * While standing next to the jeep, front driver side, it begins making a noise like its air discharging from a broken hose and fumes billow from underneath. Upon inspection there is a neon green fluid that has been sprayed all inside the wheel well. I take it back to the dealership, after confirming it's not overheating and no lights came on. The mechanic states it was just compressor oil and the ac compressor looks recently replaced so maybe it was discharging an over charge but "there is nothing wrong" 14July18 * Pull into a parking lot and while finishing a phone conversation, sitting in park, the jeep begins to make the same noise with the same discharge of neon green fluid. I text Ty and inform him of the situation. He says he'll speak with Devin. At this point I have luke cold air. * Take the jeep to a different mechanic, he hooked up his gauges to the ac and diagnosed it was almost flat on charge. During diagnoses, it discharges two more times. I went to auto store, purchased $80 in refrigerant and leak search dye. Recharged ac and monitored. Everything seems to be working. On a side note, while getting groceries from the trunk earlier in the day, I noticed duct tape protruding from under the floor panels. I remove the panel and lift the carpet to find a hole CUT POORLY into the frame for no obvious reason. It may be there was a portion of rust cut out 17July18 * Got a call from Charles, I needed to come in and sign a missed document. Pull in and Charles is outside. Discuss with him the issues I had been having and the fact his shop told me "nothing is wrong". He walks inside and within 30 seconds it begins the same process of discharging and billowing. Two other sales men witness it and Charles and Devin hear it from the inside of the building. Charles takes the jeep down to the mechanic again and explains. After an hour, he returns and says it's a valve and relay. Bring the jeep in tomorrow, leave it for the day and they will repair. read more
