I am writing this review to express my disappointment with Curt's Softener, particularly with Dan…read more 2011 I purchased a new 2510 Fleck 1054 (tan) with Dan at Curt's Softener. Over the years, I have had a few problems, and Dan has come out to fix the issues. But on November 22, 2024, I asked Dan to come out and look at the softener system as the tank seemed leaking, and the salt in the container had turned to complete mush. Dan said the tank was 'sweating' and not leaking. He added 2-3 buckets of water to the container and said to mix it every couple of days to dilute the salt. After a few weeks, I was supposed to add salt again. I called him on Saturday, November 23, and told him the tank was not sweating but leaking. He said he would be out on Sunday around 10:00 a.m. I phoned him around noon, and he said he was sick and couldn't come out. He said he would come out on Monday. Never heard from him. I called him on Tuesday, November 26, and he said he was busy with emergencies. In the meantime, the tank was leaking more than ever. I have videos and photos to back up my complaints. Mushy salt was still in the container. Finally, I sent Dan texts with my complaints and said I would not use his services again. I wrote this review to inform everyone that he is not the helpful person he used to be.

I have mixed feelings... I have a service plan, but my mom and my brother don't. My brother got the…read moredenial on a coupon for his furnace check today because he used one for his AC earlier in the year. My mom has a warranty on a part for her furnace that needs replaced, but the tech was so focused on trying to sell her a new furnace and air duct cleaning. When I had them over, they were fixated on the age of my AC and how I should replace it when it still works. This is where I got really confused: I called to schedule for AC clean & check + a clean and check on my tankless hot water heater. Visit 1: Someone came out to look at my water heater only, said it was installed wrong, and it would need repaired (did not clean). I think I might've paid $89, I'm not sure. I can't remember. Visit 2: Office schedules someone else, they said it was fine. This person didn't clean/check the water heater nor the AC, but sat down to talk to me about duct cleaning and upgrades. I'm super confused because I thought I was getting clean & checks. Visit 3: A man & woman hastily come to clean & check my AC. A plumber arrives at the same time to clean/check the tankless. The man & woman find something to repair on the AC. They kinda rush through the explanation, I pay in a daze, but I want a service plan because I have the tankless, reverse osmosis, water softener, the AC, and the furnace. Plus the plumber is still working. I didn't know they drove separately. I pay for the AC job because they seem rushed. The plumber is more relaxed (Jeff Lardo - he's the man. Hire him) sits down and explains everything to me about service plans, my hot water tank, my RO system filters, what Gene's can do, toilets (I need to replace one). I get the service plan. Epilogue: I have to contact the office to get the AC repair figured out with the service plan I wanted to buy. They're nice about it. Bonus - My mom's visit I experienced: I was at my mom's house and a jolly tech from Texas was here to clean/check my mom's furnace. Nice enough guy, I liked him. I prickled when he called my injured dog "fatso," lol. But it was said in an affectionate way. My dog is a bit chubby, haha. It felt more like Gene's was pushing a sales agenda more than providing HVAC services. It's depressing because my family has been using Gene's since the 1970s. My mom did get the UV light installed because those are genuinely good products, but trying to strong arm an older lady into a new furnace when she has a lifetime warranty on one part that needs replaced felt bad. It felt like they were doing the strong arm on me as well since I was a woman. It felt bad. But the work was done well. The tech was really nice. Bonus bonus - My brother's phone call: My brother just called to make an appointment for his furnace. Since he used a coupon for his AC, he was told his furnace would be $120. He said no thank you. But he said the office person was nice. He is going to find another place to take care of his furnace. Like I said - mixed feelings +10 stars for Jeff Lardo, the plumber +10 stars for the office staff -7 stars for the confusion with needing 3 visits to clean my tankless -6 stars for sales tactics -3 dog bones for hurting my dogs' feelings

WORK DONE BY GENE'S REFRIGERATION AND HEATING WORK DONE ON:…read more9/1/26 APPROX. TIME COMPLETED: 2:30PM WORK DONE BY: CHRIS Per above date, I noticed that my air conditioner was not working properly very early in the morning. I had the thermostat set at 73 degrees and it was 75 in the house, and there was very little air coming out of the registers. Because of this I went online very early in the morning to see if I could get someone out to the house to correct the problem. I contacted several companies, online, and the first one to contact me was Gene's. I received a message that they (Gene's) could arrive at my house between 8 - 9:30 AM. It ended up that they changed it to 1:15 PM. Chris came out and looked over the furnace, condenser and everything that could be possible wrong. After his evaluation, Chris told me he had 2 solutions for the problem. It was for $2000 and one was for $1000. He started with the 2K first, which I had no intentions of picking. He went on and on how he was going to add this and that to the furnace. He then told me very minimal solutions on the $1000 fix. Nothing at any time did he mention he was going to install a Cap-Hard Start kit! Actually, I don't even recall him saying anything about what he was going to do at that price. Being it was half price of the first solution I mistakenly took the second solution. Now for the problem. Not approving a startup kit that he charged me $219.02 for. He never even mentioned this kit prior to install. Chris listed it at $273.78. I went online and this OEM kit can be purchased for $155. That is what I can purchase it for, I'm sure the company can purchase it for much lower. The second item a dual capacitor. Chris noted that the standard price was $283.38. I went on like and the OEM price is $21.84. My final cost was $226.70! That is 10 times the mark up! The third item was the contractor. Chris noted standard price $318.36. I went online and standard OEM price was $34.00. Chris charged me $254.69. That's 7.5 times standard price! Chris told me that the drain from the A coil was incorrectly installed and that it would eventually get plugged. I went online to verify this and he was totally wrong, this install was correct, they call it a "P" trap. After all work was completed, Chris then started telling me about my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and how long the last and where they should be mounted. Then Chris adds an annual protection plan at $263.40 which was NEVER mentioned to me! I do not want to do business with this company ever again and I want my money back for this! Per all the money I spent, I want Gene's to refund some of my money. I certainly do not want their protection plan for$236.40! Spoke to Erica today (9/8/26) at approx. 8:30 AM, and was told if I cancel the protection plan, I will owe them an additional $300.00! I will get NO refunds! I feel I was totally over charged, and I want my $236 plus the over charge for the parts. I know the OEM costs, have Gene's show their cost and part no. Raymond Yankura

No problem, and boy are we glad to have had them install our softener system, and with the savings we were able to afford a reverse osmosis water purification system. My husband and I have resided in LeRoy Township since 2015. When we purchased our home we were told…read morethat we had a low performing well with iron issues. We contacted Chris Petrovic with CIMS Water Solutions in 2019 looking to replace a water softener system from home depot. We were sold a water system for over $4,000 which included a water osmosis system. Prior to installation my husband and I informed Pentair installers that our well was a "low performing well" and had concerns about how the equipment would function after they indicated the systems would run more water when the system would regenerate - they indicated that there would not be any issues. From 2015-2019 prior to installation we had maybe run out of water once. After having this system installed, we have run out of water very frequently. When Pentair technicians were contacted they indicated that it was our "bad water" causing the issues not the system that was installed offering no remedies to fix the issues we have experienced since installing. We had also had the well fracked in the summer of 2020 hoping to resolve water supply issues. Since that time, the water has been very salty and we have not been able to drink the water even with the osmosis system that we paid extra for. Pentair technicians have been unhelpful in resolving issues and have offered no reasonable solutions to a water system that is practically less than a year old. We have paid out of pocket in full over $4,200 and have been resorting to bottled water once again for every household use except for showering which is also an issue as the water is currently destroying my hair. Even boiled water cannot be used as the food tastes excessively salty after draining. I should have been wary about doing business with a company who took over a month just to come back and test the water after the unit was installed. Despite numerous phone calls and reminders they made it clear that they would test the water when it was convenient for them. When you're using water for everything you want assurance that the water is actually being treated properly. I would strongly not recommend this company to any person looking to remedy their well water issues especially in the Chardon area as they clearly do not understand the water issues of residents. All this company clearly cares about is money in their pocket regardless of the satisfaction of their customers. Chris Petrovic, also indicated that he would resolve any issues if we would happen to be unhappy with the product, who at this point has stopped responding to phone calls and text messages from my husband indicating that the system currently is inoperable.

I fulfilled my Job obligations to the best of my abilities. When I First started, things were very professional. As time passed, I noticed a Negative work Astrosphere with Management. At times people were helpful, other times they Came off as Easily Bothered for asking for help. Some Managers made Sarcastic jokes, that made me Uncomfortable. Not everything was bad, but this Establishment lost the value of Team work & The Quality of being Decent Human beings. I Did enjoy this type of employment as it was suitable for Me & My Family. But a few things that are Very Noticeable, is the Favoritism that Management has & How Unprofessional they handle things. If you aren't on your knees, you aren't considered a Valuable asset. If you didn't fulfill tasks outside of your Job Description, you were treated Differently. No Matter what you say regarding Clients Behavior towards you (Them being Racist ,Rude, Disrespectful Towards You) They were Always considered Right, Due to the money. I could sit Here & Write a Book, But I Choose to Write a Review instead. It's Important for People to see what they are walking into. The Water Manager, Comes off as Dismissive & Unprofessional. The General Manager, at the Start was very Respectful and Professional. But as time Passed He Became easily Annoyed When Speaking to him regarding Clients. I Lost a lot of Respect for him & The manner in which he handled my Termination. In Overall This is a Good Job, Until you Don't go ABOVE & BEYOND.
