I usually go to the FiDi location, but the Grand Central shop is much more convenient given how close it is to my office. That said, pricing at Leather Spa has increased significantly over the years. At this point, it's starting to feel hard to justify repairs vs simply buying a new pair. I paid $200 to repair a pair of Loro Piana Summer Walk suede loafers after they tore along the side. While the damage was fixed, the quality of the repair didn't meet expectations. I feel like they could've done a better job. read more

Solid shine and professional service. Usually takes about15 minutes where you can sit in a nice leather chair and watch the world walk by. I brought a vintage LV bag here for repair. Generally no complaints here...except for the price :(. $170 to replace a leather strap. It was all fine, but feels like a big markup. The bag I brought in was pretty dehydrated and I asked how much it would cost to "rejuvenate" it. I think I was quoted another $200-$300". At some point, I feel like I might as well just buy a new LV bag given the repair costs. All in all the takeaway is repairing vintage items are expensive, but fairly satisfied with Leather Spa. I did not think it possible to mess up adding simple taps to a pair of new boots but Leather Spa did. They use inferior pre-glued taps -- not real shoemaker's glue-- so the taps do not adhere. The person doing the work was unable to make them sit flush at the bottom of the shoe; the nails were protruding and there was a gap between the tap and the heel so it make a clicking sound when I walked. I had to take them to another repair service to be redone. I had high hopes that Leather Spa would be a convenient place for simple repairs. Sadly, it was a big waste of time. read more

I've been a customer for many, many years. It pains me to write this review. I recently received the WORST "customer service" ever by the purported owner "Josephine." She actually came out solely to scold ME for what was "obvious" when I quite explicitly asked for just having the toe box stretched and NOT the length. She said after I got the shoes back stretched all over and now too big to wear without falling off my feet, that despite my specific request, it's "obvious" the entire shoe would be stretched. When I asked why I wasnt told that so I could make the decision because it was obvious to me that just a toe box could be widened without stretching the length of a shoe, she had no answer and got extremely indignant and rude. She NEVER apologized, was shockingly rude, and treated me like an idiot. I also had to PAY for shoe inserts to try to preserve any ability to wear the shoes. After that expense, the shoes are ruined and permanently stretched all over and cannot be worn by me. The very expensive shoes are ruined. Leather Spa does great work but Josephine is GHASTLY. Be VERY careful about your requests, questions, and instructions. She is a disgrace to the otherwise fine work of the shop's craftsmen. read more

We have tried several repair shops with the hope of saving money, but for repair or reconditioning of expensive shoes and handbags there is no substitute for the Leather Spa on East 57th St. My wife always goes to Fabian when she wants to be sure that she will get the highest quality work. Living in NYC means walking all over the city. Living in midtown around all your former and current employers mean walking all over the city while being put together. It is a hard life sometimes. I had all these boots that I have beaten into decimation the past three years. I was so lazy and didn't really bother taking them for repair until one day I realized my shoes were making my knees hurt. The heels fell off, the soles were so worn out, and they were to the point that I mind as well walk barefoot. I've used their services before back in 2017 when a local shoe repair guy messed up my Celine bag. Yes... Idk why I bothered. They fixed my bag as much as they can and it was as new as it can get. I did pay a premium to get the repair done as soon as possible because my bf at the time and I were going away and I wanted my bag with me. I was super impressed with their work that I decided to take my shoes there. I had two thigh high boots and a kitten heel bootie, which were all seeing the tail end of their lives. It took less than two weeks to get them back and they did a pretty decent job. I've taken my boots to the place that I bought them from and they did a better job fixing it, but I am sure they did all this stuff that would have cost me a lot more than I paid here. To be honest, I was not blown away by their work, BUT that does not mean they did a terrible job or anything. They did the best they can with what they were given. I will be using them again and again for my shoe repair. Men who work in midtown, this is perfect place to take your shoes for repair. Drop them off on your way to work and pick them up on your way home. Women, they also do repair purses and the rubber sole moment for Louboutins for $59. They are known for their quality work! If you are like me and have a go to shoe that you beat up every year, do your poor shoes a favor and give them some TLC here. read more

The friendly shiners sit you down, and get right to it. Overall from my last three years of experience including today, I think they do a fantastic job every single time. Not a single spot missed, and always the highest glossy shine you could imagine. They also sell shoe insoles, laces, and etc. I believe my shine was $8. Customer service is TERRIBLE here. I should've known not to trust this place when I first dropped off my shoes (2 pairs of brand new Louboutins) and had to wait 15 minutes before anyone could help me, even though they weren't that busy. I needed my shoes back by a date certain for an event I had and I made this clear to the employee when I dropped them off. It was Saturday, 11/5, and before giving them my shoes, I asked if they could guarantee that they would be ready for pickup before the evening of Saturday, 11/12. They said absolutely, no problem--they would be back no later than Saturday 11/12 during the day, but would most likely be ready even earlier, sometime in the middle of the week. This place is close to where I live so I thought great, no problem. I look forward to continuing to come here for all of my shoe needs. However, no shoes. I keep calling and finally Saturday 11/2 arrives, 3 PM, an hour before they close, and no call to let me know they're ready. So I call back and the employee says there's a note indicating my shoes are ready, but the truck forgot to deliver them. He says I won't be able to pick them up until mid-day Monday, 11/14. No apology. No discount. No offer to rush the delivery to me on Monday given the added inconvenience. He also couldn't give me an owner or supervisor I could speak. He just said he would leave a note for the owner to get back to me at some undetermined time in the future. Could not be more frustrated. These were expensive shoes that I purchased specifically for a special event and now I won't even be able to wear them for it. What a complete waste. I used to love Leather Spa. I have been using their pick up / drop off service. Recently they picked up two pairs of quite nice shoes, and then I never heard back. It is now 3 months since pick up and no word. The website suggests they never received the shoes. Clearly they are lost. The worst part is that Leather Spa has been totally nonresponsive. St. it was always packed even back then but I recall it was a designer shoe store that told me to go there. Now I am so happy to see them all over town and I always have my shoes repaired here when I'm in NY. No one else touches my designer shoes! Never thought I could be so happy with a shoe shine. I stopped here while waiting on a train out of grand central and ended up having the best shoe shine of my life. The main difference between this place and every other shoe shine place is the detail and precision that goes into the shine. No spray going everywhere and no rushing. The entire shine took about 15 minutes and by the time he was done, my shoes looked brand new. Definitely seek this place out when in grand central and in need of a shine. My Kate Spade bag handle broke. Called the Kate Spade store and the customer representative said she recommended Leather Spa over their own repair center since 1) it was past the warranty time period 2) leather spa is just as good with cheaper price (would've been over $100 to repair, she said) Lo and behold, $48 and 1week later, my bag handle is as good as new. The Leather spa guy warned me that there would be some stitch marks, but you can't tell unless you look very close. Very, very happy. Would recommend. read more

I gave them my shoes to have them stretched and I got them back in a totally new/ undesirable color.clearly they decided to polish my shoes and ruined the color.... I could see smudges of extra shoe polish on the wooden heels.... so I asked the attendant if they polished or shined my shoes (because they were a new color wth) and he said "no - that would cost extra and you see we didn't charge you for that"- which of course only means that they covered their tracks/ didn't charge me for ruining my hand made Italian leather shoes I bought in a tiny shop in Milan. This place got my Prada boots, my MiuMiu white bag, and my Vince Camuto sandals looking like the first day I bought them. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my luxury goods. Yes, it was pricey, around $260.00 for all three, but compared to how much I paid for each of the items, it was a small fraction to have them look brand new and wearable again! The only minus was that the guy was running late opening the shop and I had a plane to catch. He gave me $10 for being extremely peeved. Aside from the late opening, they receive 5 stars in my book. I could not be more impressed with the service and ease that I had in sending off two new pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes to have the signature protective red soles put on. I was reluctant at first, not knowing this company, but they were recommended on the official Louboutin website so I took a chance. I didn't have to call or talk to anyone I only used their website. Their online "repair" service was so easy to use and their response was almost immediate. After sending my shoes off to be serviced, the turnaround time was super short and I could track exactly where my shoes were in the process the whole time. I have used other shoe repairs shops, but felt like the work was not that great. The soles would be peeling up in certain places and the cuts looked rough. The Leather Spa made my shoes look PERFECT, and their Louboutin soles are much better quality. You can't hardly tell the work was done on them. i had to drop off a pair of ladies jimmy choo shoes for my cousin at the leather spa on the lower concourse level of grand central terminal so they can be repaired and i was thinking what a great concept to have this type of business where you can drop off and pick up your shoes , bags etc while grabbing or getting off a metro north train . they have a shoe shine section toward the right and via the left side is the counter area to drop off and pick up your shoes , leather bags , buy related accessories , etc .a chart with prices for services is easy to see and read and boy they offer many services but it's costly but to be fair the leather spa does quality work. my cousins shoes were ready in less then a week at a cost of 46 bucks and she was very happy with the work, her shoes look brand new .open 6 days a week from morning till late afternoon so morning and going home commuters can drop and pick up with ease. 4 stars on my yelp meter . read more

But I got lazy and dropped off my BRAND NEW VALENTINO SHOES to local shoe repair to get rubber sole guards on. They scratched sides of my shoes and completely ruined the heels... My first post ever on Yelp. That is how thrilled I am with this service. I brought in 3 pairs of shoes that I thought would be impossible to clean. One pair of Prada white leather high tops, white leather Moschino high tops, and Gucci chestnut suede drivers. All creases were eliminated, scuffs gone, no more gray marks from where the leather wore away, candle wax even lifted from the suede shoes. They all look as if I just purchased them. This service is not cheap though. It was $200 for 3 pairs to be cleaned. Still better than spending $3,200 for new ones. In all, I'm very happy and will now be bringing in all my shoes :) read more

Brought my very worn out Celine bag here. It had scratches, the leather was coming off, to make it short i wasn't wearing it anymore because of how bad it looked. I made the trip to leather spa, paid 100$ deposit and waited until they sent me an email to pick it up. Now I didn't expect too much mainly because of the bad condition my once beautiful handbag was in. When I arrived at the counter, I was quickly served and my bag was brought out. The guy took it out the plastic bag it was in and I couldn't believe it. There was my Celiné bag in the same condition as when I first bought it. It looked like a brand new bag. I gladly paid the balance of another 100$ and at this point I probably would be even paid more that's how ecstatic I was with the results. I spontaneously left him my Louis Vuitton bag to fix it and make it beautiful again too. I highly recommend this place for bags and I'll bring my shoes in the future too. Lo-lo-love it!! read more

This place seems to be ok for guys who are getting off the train and just want their quick $5 shoe shine, it looked good and efficient for that. HOWEVER do not come here expecting to receive the regular leather spa service you would expect. I brought my $6,000 Chanel limited edition bag because it had a few scratches; all I needed was a simple cloth to use to rub a protective cream on that I always buy at the normal upper east side location. First I had to wait in line behind a few pretty lousy-looking customers waiting to pay for their shoe shine which I guess could have been a warning sign.. especially irritating that cashier was joking with them back and forth while I was waiting (it was in the middle of the afternoon and I had to get back to work). I tried to ask one of the other employees who was just standing there, but she barely spoke English and told me to wait for the guy. Second warning sign should have been when the guy told me that I could just use a tissue instead of a cloth! Anyone who knows anything about leather would know that tissues leave little white traces behind. I thought, whatever, a cloth is straightforward and it's the same products that you have everywhere, so they won't possibly be able to mess this up... little did I know! I just used the cloth I bought on my bag and it left white traces everywhere the way a tissue would. Thinking back on it I should have realized that white cloth on a black lamb skin bag is not a great idea (the ones I used to use before I ran out were always black), BUT that's something the sales guy should surely have told me about, I told him exactly for what I needed the cloth and showed the bag. Obviously I can get this fixed relatively easily and thank Goodness it's not permanent damage, but it's an absolute disgrace that Leather Spa will lend their brand name to an underground shop like this that doesn't know anything about what they're doing.
