I went in asking for a strap repair on my purse. At fist the service started out well, they communicated the process and checked in with me over the phone about how they were going to fix the strap on my bag. Then I went to pick it up and the new strap looked used and broken and just a mess. She claimed it was new leather. regardless the quality of the fix looks horrible. the strap was also 3 inches longer than the original and she tried to gaslight me by saying most people like a longer strap...? Then proceeding to try and charge me $50 when it looks worse than the original. I'm sorry to complain about a small business but I am in shock the finished product they provided and they doubled down saying it looked good. lol do not bring your stuff here read more

Won't be back. Went here for the first time to have loafers shined. When I picked them up they were still pretty dusty and didn't look as if they had really been serviced. The woman called Simon to reshine them but he was too interested in making small talk with a woman who came in after me so I ended up waiting about 10 minutes. This store is a little gem! I purchased a pair of leather boots on sale - they were extremely expensive before the sale. When I tried the boots on, the zipper wouldn't go up my calf (a common problem). The guy who sold me the boots told me about Simon. For $15 and a 2 day stretch, my boots zip up my calf without issue. Warning! Don't take your leather handbag here! I took my leather handbag here for a tiny fix, but the man broke the bag so it was no longer useable. When I asked it to be corrected, both the man and woman yelled at me. They were obviously angry because they knew they had damaged it and didn't know how to fix it. The man grabbed it from me, started ripping out the lining, then took it out of site. He returned it, mostly fixed with minor further damage. However since leaving it was clear he actually broke it further and it is now structurally damaged. I've now been quoted over $100 to have the damage he caused fixed elsewhere. My mistake for trusting them with my precious bag. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Go elsewhere!! read more

The before and after was like night and day - every angle of both pairs of shoes was touched up to perfection. The woman in the store finished both in a mere 20 minutes or so. Awful! Awful! Awful....I went to see my shoes and the man did an awful job the heel worn off he replaced with a much lighter color than my shoe and they looked weird. The other shoes I would've understood since they had good wear and tear on them but in that case he could've called me to tell me listen this shoe is beyond repair so I cannot fix it and I'll give you the money back but no. I have been going to this shoe repair (and shine!) shop for years and it is truly a great example of a small/local business that absolutely treasures its customers. Small, no frills shoe shop with a couple of shoe shine seats in the entryway, and the rest of the small space is his workshop....where shoe repair magic happens. He's fixed purses for me (even polished and buffed up a sort of dull bag I found at a street fair and made it look super chic for just $10)....and his work on shoes is amazing. From repairing normal wear and tear to massive overhauls that added years of life to my Frye boots and heels I refuse to let die. He always meets his "done by" dates and gives friendly service with a smile. Sometimes the system of finding your shoes upon pick up can be a bit tricky (shelves of shoes tied up in plastic bags)....but he seems to know where everything is you walk out happy. I now live in SF and actually packed my shoes for him to fix on my last trip to NY, I just can't find anyone who does what he does as well as he does it. He's also asked me to marry him about 300 times and always tells my kids to work hard in school....we now just know this is his trademark way of saying "goodbye" and making us smile. 5 stars all the way. read more

Brought two pairs of boots here, one that was brand new and had stains and another just for polishing. The store is run by a Russian couple and they seem to have been in the business for a long time. For the stained boots, they said they could wash and polish and return to baseline. Came back two days later to pick up with the ticket given. It took the woman about 10 minutes to find the boots, and once she did, she was not very apologetic that I had to wait. They did a great job though, and the boots looked good as new. Decided to get a shoe shine for the current shoes I was wearing at pickup, and the lady in the front who just does shoe shines is great! Prices are very reasonable and they know what they are doing, its just not the friendliest shop in town or the most organized. read more

I have small Michael Kors navy blue leather handbag that I was using when I had to wear a nametag. I put the nametag on the bag and stupidly forgot about it for 3 days. When I pulled the nametag off, the leather color was taken off and it looked horrible-- there was a nametag-sized square of blotchy light blue leather. I brought the bag here on a Saturday afternoon and went back on Monday (he is closed Sundays), and the bag was PERFECT. You would never know that there had been anything wrong with the bag. He only charged me $15, but I would have paid up to $75-- the bag has sentimental value and funtional value! I almost cried, I was so happy with how amazing it looked. I absolutely reccomend him.
