By far one of the most compassionate rescue I have ever encountered. At my lowest point I needed the most help. My little girl got gravely ill and paralyzed. We have the cuddliest dog you will ever meet... but he is a rescue and has had some challenges. We had a few scary situations with aggression, and after many tears and a long discussion, my wife and I made the difficult decision to look to re-home our dog. This is a mountain of a project because the shelters are already overrun, and not to mention we have behavior issues with our pit mix as I mentioned above. We recently rescued a pitbull from the freeway, and placed him in a local municipal animal shelter to get him treatment. As a disclaimer, my girlfriend and I were not dog owners. However, we didn't want this pitbull to be euthanized at the shelter, and we suspected that the owner would not return for him. I found Robin through the internet, and she has been nothing but helpful in giving us the tools and knowledge we need to take Ed (the pitbull) into our home (the reality is that dog rescues usually can't take animals themselves; we needed to foster Ed, if we wanted him to heal). She went out of her way to go to the pet store with us to pick out things we needed to take care of a sick dog, recommended a vet for us to take him, and has personally been available for us to call with any new dog owner questions and advice we need. Thanks to her effort and networking she was able to help rescue my sisters dog out of the East Valley shelter he was surrendered after there was an altercation with another pet in the home. I called she suggested we crate the dogs but sadly I was the only one on board, My sister and her husband simply took the dog to the shelter the next day, Fatyy did not deserve that !! Bunny has had a hard few years with different ailments but most recently over the past 10 months has gone from a healthy 50-55lbs to around 37lbs. My girlfriend and I had searched high and low for the right dog to join our family. After another day of searching without much luck, we decided to retire and grab a burger at Blue Dog Tavern. To our surprise, they were hosting a dog adoption day and we had the chance to meet Robin of DR Doghouse Bully Crew, and our future baby, Kona. From the moment we met them our minds were made. Robin is so caring and truly wants the best for her pups. We went through the application process, followed up to the point of probably be obnoxious, and scheduled a time for Robin to come by for a house visit. Robin takes the time to go to each person's house to make sure the pups are going to a good home. After that, it was just a matter of time. Robin made sure that our pup Kona was healthy and received all of her shots before letting her go to us. She made the process extremely easy while ensuring our puppy was healthy and ready for the transition. She even had the pup stay with an amazing dog trainer named Jeff of A Better Dog LA to help get Kona ready. Once we got Kona, Robin checked in occasionally via text to make sure both we, and our pup, were happy. As I mentioned we searched quite a bit for the right pup to join the family, and unfortunately there are some sketchy situations out there. However, I couldn't have more nice things to say about Robin and her team. They really, genuinely care about their pups and did everything to make sure Kona was healthy and not only going to a good home, but that we were ready to take her on as well. DR Doghouse is really special. I first came into contact with them when I wanted to re-home a pitbull that I rescued from the shelter, due to some issues with my resident dog. (Cue the boos, I know) Happy to report that I ended up working through the issues and keeping her, but I've kept in touch with Robin at DR Doghouse ever since. She was the ONLY one, out of the 15-20 different rescues I contacted, that offered to help and consistently followed up with ME, not the other way around! A few months later, I ended up finding a stray dog running through traffic (which I seem to have a knack for). I contacted several rescues, again NONE of which who wanted to help. I called Robin and she was all in, amidst the millions of other dogs she already had, and the millions of other people she was already helping. She followed up with me regularly and showed genuine concern about the well-being of the dog and making sure he ended up in the right hands. She even made sure that I was doing OK and wasn't overwhelmed, especially being that I was working 80 hours a week and had pneumonia, to top it off. We went through some bumps in the road securing placement for him, and it was quite a stressful experience, but she never once made me feel like I was a burden, like other rescues had. I've always loved animals (my friends call me the "crazy dog lady"), but after meeting Robin, I've really discovered a new-found passion for animals and hope to help more along the way. Her compassion and dedication to the cause is SO genuine and SO contagious, it truly is a rarity to find. It's very apparent that she cares a great deal about all animals, and not just those within her own rescue. After being exposed to so many shady, greedy rescues, DR Doghouse is a total breath of fresh air. They make sure that each dog is placed in the proper home, not just ANY home. We were having issues with our dog barking ALOT.. Our dog, Max, is a blue-nose Pitbull and he's 13 yrs. old. Our neighbors were complaining and we got a citation from the city already. We tried everything, but nothing we tried would work. I called DDBCR in desperation, we were at the point of trying to find a new home for Max. Robin helped and guided us when we ended up taking in one of my friends British Bull dog "Lola" My friend happened to move and could not take Lola with him.He shared with me that due to her immobility he may need to put her down. Robin is absolutely amazing. Hands down, she is one of my favorite people in the animal rescue world. Funnily enough, I got my kitten from her... Long story short, a lady who rescued my kittyand knew what Robin did to Kim to her, and being the kind, animal living so that she is, she took him and then contacted A kitty rescue. Fast forward a couple years later, I had reached out to her once or twice about dogs, and she would break records in the quickness of her response time. I've seriously never witnessed anybody get back faster to you then Robin. This spring, I was at the ASPCA, when a lady brought in a dog who had been hit by a car. It wasn't hers, and she started to surrender him. I knew that they would euthanize him. He was in bad shape. I took him - - mind you, I was on my lunch break - - and ran for the nearest of that. The first place told me they couldn't help me. I texted Robin, desperate, and within minutes, she called me, and not only told me a place that was literally down the street, but she spoke to the owner as well, fully prepared to connect me to A foundation that could help. Had she not called me when she did, the puppy probably would have died in my arms part. As it stood, she didn't end up making it, but at least she was being taken care of and able to pass peacefully. Just this week, when trying to help a friend who's pitbull was diagnosed with cancer, I reached out to Robin again, and again within minutes, she was calling me, ready to help. She is so strongly driven by a desire to help animals and the people who love and work with them, there's no way I cannot recommend her rescue. Watch out when dealing with this rescue,I was linked up with a pitbull which I adopted 8 weeks ago.This dog was not vetted by DR doghouse rescue according to Robin.I was informed on how to meet dog and her owners which I did,I was told that this animal was rehabbed,lived with other pets and got along great with them.I also had to pay to have her spayed before taking ownership which I agreed to,she seemed fine when I was introduced to her, but i later found out she is aggressive toward other dogs and cats.I also enrolled her in a obedience training class and my dog was expelled due to her aggressiveness toward the other dogs in training.I got a hold of the former owners and discussed returning the dog to them,but they tell me they now live in hawaii making this quite difficult to do.So now I am stuck with the task of having her rehabbed by a dog behaviorist if I can reasonably afford it or just bring her too LA animal services and give her up which I don't want to do,I don't think I could even get anyone to want to take her from me due to to this dogs behavior.All I really wanted was to find a dog without issues so I tried a rescue in hopes of getting a good dog opposed to what I may find at the shelter.
