So disappointing, I LOVE carrot cake and cinnamon rolls. I was trying to decide between the carrot cake cupcake and the cinnamon roll. The girl working said they always have the cinnamon rolls but the carrot they don't always have. I asked if it had cream cheese frosting - she wasn't sure (should have been my first sign) so she asked her coworker and she confirmed yes. The carrot cake cupcake in fact does not have cream cheese frosting. It's boring buttercream and very dry cake. Extremely disappointed. read more

I've been to leaves bakery and books on multiple occasions, and each time I've been able to try something new from their glass case. Typically, you'll find a small group of people gathered here, enjoying some food and chatting. The location is not large, but they do have seating available with a limited option of books. The staff can be friendly at times, but also overwhelmed and a little short depending on how many customers they have for the day. This isn't a major issue for me since I always take my food to-go. I would recommend having your food warmed up, and my favorites are the bbq pigs in a blanket. I also tried their ginger tea, which was delicious as well. If you're visiting Magnolia, stop by and support this local business. read more

Cute indie bakery with books written by local authors. Our first visit was awesome and all the baked goods were delicious. Unfortunately, our 2nd visit today was less enjoyable. The mini chocolate tart was just ok taste wise but the crust was bland and dry. My husband had the blondie and said it good. He also had what was labeled the Jalapeño and pineapple sausage roll. It was heated way too long and ended up so dry and he couldn't taste any jalapeño or pineapple. After one bite, he threw it out. It's unfortunate that we had this less than enjoyable experience this time. With so many other coffee places around , we won't be back. read more

To me this is more of a "gathering place with tea" more than a bookstore. They do have a baked goods, so definitely a bakery as well. My rating is for two things...they had about 8 books total, you can order from them but I was here more for the books. My scone also, wasn't the best. It was super crumbling and grainy, almost like there wasn't enough butter maybe? The baristas/bakers were nice! If you wanted to bulk order some cupcakes, I would much rather buy local from here than a grocery store! read more

Too good to go review: I got 4 cupcakes and 1 cookie. The cookie was salty, perhaps they use salted butter. I wouldn't get the cookies again. The cupcake flavors were caramel and key lime. The flavors were actually very nice but the cupcakes were extremely dry- like VERY dry. I wouldn't buy the cupcakes. I wasn't over the moon which is a shame because the flavors were nice and the icing was actually nice (I love icing) but the cupcake was extremely dry which was unpleasant. Cute bakery- watch your step coming into the front door. Cute neighborhood. Very nice friendly service. AND they had the cutest book share box outside. Stopped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It's great to find a bakery with gluten-free options that actually taste amazing. The cookies were fresh, rich, and completely satisfying. The establishment has a office, library, cottage type feel. I was greeted by the owner and told the Adam bomb cookies are a best seller. I selected the brown butter pineapple cream mini pie, jalapeño pepper mini quiche, and double chocolate lavender latte cupcake. I wasn't a fan of the mini pie or quiche, but i loved the cupcake. The cupcake had a burst of chocolate, coffee, and lavender. I was overjoyed after finding chocolate chips on the inside. When I'm in the area I'll pop in to get a cupcake, muffin, brownie, cookie, or a slice of cake. I'm glad their products aren't overly sweet. I was in the area for the event & was walking by to check out some other businesses and decided to check this location out. Man, can I say this is a really cute bakery! Plus they have an amazing assortment of things to try that made it tough to pick just one or two things to try. Staff was friendly and very helpful, with us finding our selections. The one thing I would change about the ordering process, or checking out the display case was myself and another customer had to squat down to see the options at the bottom of the cases. We got some eclairs and a banana chocolate chip cupcake. Both were extremely delicious! Bought the most delicious gluten free peanut butter and oat cookies from here today. I was hungry and in the area, so first I called to see if they had any gluten free options. Luckily they had two, the cookies and then a peach and basil scone. I should have bought one of those but instead I got two cookies and ate them in the car on my way home. Yum. This is the cutest bakery and it smells amazing when you walk through the door. They offer kombucha and coffee and milk and there's a glass case stuffed with gorgeous pastries of all kinds. Cupcakes, pies, scones, cookies, cakes, and more. Reasonable prices too. I like how they have several mismatched dining tables to sit at. My parents and I came here after seeing that Shinjuku Station serves some of their desserts. It's a cute little cafe, but honestly the display was underwhelming. None of the desserts were all that tempting, but we decided to try some since we were already there. Blueberry & thyme buttermilk mini pie: the crust was still crispy which was good. The filling was really sweet but that was it. I didn't taste any thyme and only a little blueberry. Apple pie: looked dry, tasted even drier. Honestly so bland it made me sad. Very cute shop with delicious baked goods! It is nicely decorated with sweet workers. Their double chocolate cookie that I had was extremely moist and delicious. Each cookie is $1.50. They aren't very big, but they sure are good! I also snagged some of their "atom bombs" before I left for the night. They are mini chocolate chip cookies with buttercream in the middle. They weren't as moist, but I still ate every single one. A half dozen cost me $8. I will say that I was disappointed to see that they don't make new desserts daily. I left at closing and noticed they were leaving the items for the next day. Another place I know sells their items half off after a certain time to avoid wastage as well as to avoid selling old items. Stopped by Stir Crazy after an early dinner for some tasty dessert. As soon as you walk in you get the wonderful aroma of sweet goodies and coffee. Blessed. We ended up getting a cupcake and a slice of coconut creme pie. I think it's worth noting that the pricing is more than reasonable, and definitely a focal point of this place. The cupcake: the cupcake we got was a white chocolate/ cinnamon hybrid- sounds interesting, tasted delicious. The cinnamon and white chocolate paired perfectly. The cream was good, but the cupcake portion was a bit dry. The coconut creme pie: oof. For anyone that follows my reviews knows that I'm on a quest to find the best coconut creme pie in dfw (lol). This pie was good, but I wish there was a bit more coconut filling. It was tasty, but the ratio of creme to filling was a bit off. Nonetheless, a great option if you're having a hankering for pie but don't want a big slice. If you're in the magnolia option, this is THE dessert option in the area!! read more

This was my first time in the shop. I've had their cakes before and LOVED them. My friends and I were looking for a place to chat on magnolia and the nearby coffee shops were full. We walked in here and there was plenty of seating with just a few other customers. I ordered the vegan chocolate cookie because it looked rich and gooey. I asked for it warmed up and it was just like I imagined! Gooey and rich chocolatey goodness. I do not understand how it's vegan- you can't even tell traditional ingredients are missing. I would return just for that scrumptious cookie and I like the $1.50 price tag. Last year at a yelp event, I had their banana split cake and chocolate cake. Both are decadent and sinfully moist and delicious. Not sure if the banana split was a special flavor because I don't see it listed on their website. So far, everything has been delicious! This is a cute bakery that I really want to love. I want to think their hearts are in the right place, but every time I go in I'm met with employees who bring the attitude of "we don't care". I don't write bad reviews. This is literally my first one. In fact, it's hard for me to write this one because I want small businesses and women to flourish in Fort Worth. My experience tonight was so egregious though, that I must. Today I decided to try a new app called TooGoodToGo. The concept of the app is amazing. They invite local restaurants and groceries to sign up to sale their surplus food at the end of the day. This seems perfect for a bakery concept. You can make $5 and prevent unnecessary food waste selling what this awesome app calls a "surprise bag", or you can make $0 throwing day old baked goods in the trash. You have a small 30 minute window to pick up your "surprise bag", so if you're like me, you have to adjust your schedule to make arrangements. My window was 5:30-6. I arrived to Stir Crazy this evening at 5:44 to pick up my bag. I was greeted by a younger lady who thought it was hilarious that she didn't know what to do because she clearly didn't have any surprise bags. I showed her my order confirmation and she got the other young lady working the counter, who also acted like she didn't know what to do, and more so didn't care, while looking for bags. The original lady commented that they had two more surprise bags they were to supply, but no more bags. Both ladies then had a good laugh together over their lack of ability to fulfill the order. I had paid $5 for this bag. The purchase of this bag is not the point. I had to take my daughter to ballet across town in 110 degree heat, and race back over to Magnolia to pick up my order within the 30 minute time slot. I totally understand at the end of the day being out of food and having to cancel the order, and I hope that for all of these small businesses. I hope every bakery in town sales every last cupcake they have. I explained to them I was trying this new app for the first time and that I had dropped my daughter off 15 minutes early and raced back across town to get this order. They cared very very little. Continued to laugh and literally shrugged their shoulders, and said they can cancel it and I'll get my $5 back. They had two full windows of baked goods. Tons of cupcakes and tons of cakes and other baked goods. They close at 6. I find it very hard to believe they won't be selling day old baked goods to all of their customers tomorrow. I won't be going back, and I will certainly tell my friends in our neighborhood to go to Cherry and Avoca instead. read more

Omg their baked items are soooooo good!! My husband had a piece of vanilla cake with rainbow sprinkles, and I had a chocolate eclair and a lavender cupcake. Everything was so flavorful and delicious I've never had anything lavender-flavored before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. They also serve Avoca coffee from the nearby Avoca coffee shop, which was delicious as usual. I also got a double chocolate cupcake to take home for later. I had high expectation when ordering a cake from this bakery for my husband's birthday. After reviewing their web site and not seeing pictures of their individual cakes they list , I went to their Facebook page to get a better idea. I went in personally to place the order, told them about the cake I had seen on their FB page, the sundae cake, and told them I wanted to place an order. I was hoping to get my own cake from there also a week later so placed my order, bought a few cupcakes to sample the flavors for a potential second cake and went on my way. Unfortunately the cupcakes I bought were very dry and I hoped that was just a fluke but after reading other reviews I see that's a norm unfortunately and they were either old or previously frozen. I went to pick up my cake order on Saturday and as you can see from the photo it looks nothing like the cake I expected based on their own pictures which represented what previous cakes looked like. I expressed my disappointment but rather than attempt to make me happy and offer to make it look more like what I expected, they spent the whole time telling me that I should have been more specific and told them I wanted it to look like what I thought was the standard design for that cake.. I cake they already offered not one I made up. After their attitude and no attempt to rectify anything, I told them I wasn't going to buy it because it was no where near what they represented. To my surprise, later that day, the cake that I ordered showed up on their FB page which is fine expect that it had the following wording... "a customer ordered this cake but said it wasn't good enough,. Hmm, we think it's more than good enough".... I'm sure there are more dissatisfied customers out there but they won't say anything because this company doesn't care about customer satisfaction and likes to shame is customers on social media when they are critical of this business. All they had to do was offer to make the cake look more like what they represented and I would have been a very satisfied customer and continued to order from them... read more

A friend and I discovered this place while looking for dessert places close by to a restaurant we were finishing lunch at. After a short 10min walk down Magnolia Ave, we arrived to this location. We were met with wonderful smells upon entering the bakery. Offered are an assortment of options: cakes, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, scones, pies, etc. I chose a favorite flavor for my cupcake- double chocolate and got strawberry lime and classic vanilla flavors for a sibling. I saw Vegan brownies and had to get one of those, as well a large chocolate chip cookie. I enjoyed all that I had, though like some others have mentioned I don't think this place is anything too special. For me it certainly doesn't beat Carlo's Bakery in Dallas. read more

Hubby and I went to stir crazy on a Saturday afternoon. I order the chocolate cream pie, he ordered a lemon bar, and then we ordered a lime, lemon tart and confetti cupcakes for our daughters. The chocolate pie was good. More on the dark chocolate side, which I preferred. Hubby said his lemon bar was hard, and chewy. Definitely not recently baked. Now on to the cupcakes, We were so disappointed after hearing all the hype. My daughter took a bite and said her's was hard, so I tired it and it had a freezer burned taste to the cupcake, so I tried the others and the same thing, the cupcakes tasted like they had been frozen while the frosting tasted fresh. When I spoke to another customer sharing a table with us, explaining I felt "let down" she said that Stir Crazy was known to either leave the baked goods out over night or freeze the bake goods during the week to make it easier to defrost and put frosting on and go on the weekends. So if your looking for that fresh from the oven baked goods, I would say maybe skip Stir Crazy. read more

After finishing Heim's, I stumbled upon this place. It didn't seem like much, but they offer a variety of items that actually taste good. They have some eclectic furniture choices, but it still feels cozy. The Italian cheesecake could have been stronger tasting in the cheese department. Otherwise, fresh fruit on top, with a great texture.  The vanilla hatch Chile cookie was amazing. The right amount of Chile for my taste. It's pronounce, yet never feels overwhelming. It costs the majority of the tongue in a light buzz of spice. The vanilla helps give a familiar low tone profile. Feels like a desert sugar cookie. The cupcake base is good, but the frosting mind blowing. The harmony of mocha, cinnamon, and caramel apple is astonishing. Especially the mocha flavor, which feels like I ordered a mocha drink. Each bite was moist. I was delighted to try a couple of items from this overall great bakery. If Im back in town, I will definitely come back. read more

This is where I go when I'm sad and need to treat myself. First things first--Stir Crazy makes the best pie I've had anywhere. Better than Emporium in Dallas. Pie slices and mini pies are both incredible, although the crust of the mini pies is particularly tender. In particular, I've had the best coconut cream pie in my life at Stir Crazy, so if they have it, you need to get some! Stir Crazy respects fruit and does not overly sweeten their fresh fruit pies. I usually prefer cake slices to cupcakes, and my favorite flavors here are salted caramel, mint chocolate, strawberry, domino, lavender, cafe au lait,... it goes on. Their cake is moist and has a nice crumb, but the magic of Stir Crazy is really in the frosting. I don't even like frosting, but I love their frosting! A few years ago, I ordered a mint chocolate chip cake for my brother's graduation and it was excellent! And two years ago, they had a Boston Cream Pie that had the same chocolate ganache as their eclairs, and I still dream about it to this day. The white chocolate chip blondies here are dreamy! The mini quiches were good with a light flaky crust which wasn't too thick. The filling was very flavorful too. I could've eaten a dozen of those! In fact, it was probably the best things we had from there! The strawberry rhubarb pie was good except for the crust. The filling was fresh and tasty but the top crust was unusually thick and tough to sink a plastic fork into. The banana cream pie was the same. The filling was great but the custard needed to set a bit as it flowed all over the plate when cut and again unfortunately this crust was tough too. When I tried my first cupcake, which was almond, the first thing that came to mind was dry! Okay maybe it was just that one so I tried the coconut, same! The chocolate malt was also the same!
