The whole process was fairly quick for having to ship my purse across the country. When I received the purse back however it had some discoloring on it that wasn't there before. Jim's team was contacted and paid to have the purse shipped back and forth and again and fixed the issue immediately. I am very happy with the service and excited to see what else they can do!

I had an accident a few months ago when an unexpected gale force wind threw me 15 feet from the sidewalk into the street and into the path of oncoming rush-hour traffic. I was clutching my bag at the time but it was ripped away by the strong wind and suffered damage. I survived but needed an emergency hip replacement --and the bag survived too thanks to George who repaired the holes and restored the leather to such beauty! My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.

When my daughter was a teenager, she kept "borrowing" them for a few months only to return them shredded!! I immediately took them to my boot doctor (Frank Shoe repair) and a week later picked up what appeared to be a new pair of boots. My latest visit was one I was not sure Frank Shoe repair could handle. Both the zippers were broken and the heals were worn down to the bone. I thought perhaps I had lost them. But they were saved once more! The leather is beautifully worn, they fit like a glove, the zippers are new. This time, I'm hiding them from my daughter ;)

I was inspired to make a DIY journal cover and went here with no experience of leather working. They have a bin of scrap leather for purchase and some sale items. Sale items are on refundable. Minimum purchase is a whole hide or half hide for bigger ones. Their smaller hides are lamb skin which was around $50-60 bucks for a medium size. Their cow hide, they can do half hide which is what I did since it was so big. I got quite a few journal covers out of that as well as a couple passport holders.
