I really loath medical clinics, most of them (all that I had ever visited) were not that impressive. However, been to both locations of this consultants in Wilmington several times and have to say that the staff (including some doctors, nurses, clericals ...) are wonderful, very easy to talk to and absolutely kind. I can't say all the doctors are nice, but I was lucky to get a few (like Dr. Wohlhagen) who have great bedside manners, knowledgeable and treat you like you are actually a human being (LOL). I can understand how frustrating it could be to book an appointment with them. Guess when they are good, everyone will want to go there. Do imagine how scheduling an appointment could be tedious and boring. The staff can only book an appointment if there's a vacancy. I had witnessed how unreasonable and rude some of the patients were. In fact, you have to give credit to those staff at the front desk. They are patient and able to take all those "abuse". Maybe next time when you visit this clinic, try to smile and say "hi" to those staff at the front desk first and see how you are treated.

Since that time I have been unable to get an appointment in a reasonable timeframe. In 2023 I called for an appointment and was given a date ten months later. One month prior to my appointment I was notified that my appointment was canceled and could not be rescheduled. The reason given was because there were a lot of changes in the office and that most of the doctors had left the practice. I called again today (May 2025) and requested an appointment for a routine eye exam and was informed they could not schedule an appointment until May 2027. When asked why, I was informed they were still experiencing a lot of changes. This office is being managed in a completely unacceptable manner for at least the last three years. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT use their services.

They have taken responsibility for the doctor error, but zero empathy towards the customer that had to go back to get her eyes re-checked, cannot see properly for more than three weeks. They keep sending me reminders that own something that represents less than 20% of the total value paid for all the glasses not received yet. But does not hold themselves accountable for me not being able to see properly for the last three weeks.

But yesterday afternoon, driving my '97 Boxster back from Philly to Wilmington, it rained heavily the whole way and there was a lot of spray from speeding (55 limit = 70), heavy traffic and also fog on I-95. The yellow-tinted sunglasses turned out to be perfect fog and spray cutters. Quite amazing. I mean it was like the road was clear. Big trucks and black pickups come from the fast lane and cut in front of me to spray my yellow roadster good, but I was OK vision wise. Fortuitus mistake or not, the yellow tinting worked out fine. Good to know. All's well that ends well.

Furthermore, her interactions with clients have been consistently unprofessional and unhelpful. Additional training in customer service would greatly benefit her and improve the overall client experience. This situation requires immediate attention to prevent further issues. They are more interested in receiving their co-pay than having clients wait over an hour to be prepped. Appointments last between 2 - 3 hours for NO apparent reason when the procedure is about only 10 minutes in duration.

I am sure Dr Steinbach is still a fine doctor - but you can't get an appointment. I called as soon as I received a reminder card and was pushed out three months! The central reception service said "they were very busy because of back to school". Well, two weeks before the appt, I needed to reschedule - and was pushed out another two months. The women that I spoke with were rude and uncaring - very different from the previous office staff. Additionally, they don't run a cancellation list. Dr Steinbach is a fine optometrist, but certainly not worth waiting five months for a regular eye exam. As a long time customer, I find the changes in staff, process and service here disheartening. I will be changing doctors.
