Went in shopping for frames for a ~$1k pair of glasses. I wasn't even allowed to look at the frames unless I gave them my birthday and phone number to make an account. I said, I need an account just to look? Lady says yes. Manager walking by is snippy and says "Yes you do!" I turned around and walked out. all that takes is one bad experience. I have been Simon Eyes patient for years. In my last visit, they have switched me to another doctor without prior consent. The doctor William Jeppe prescribed by glasses backwards. WRONG PRESCRIPTION, which unfortunately I learned after ordering two new pairs, request to replace the lenses of my old one. They have taken responsibility for the doctor error, but zero empathy towards the customer that had to go back to get her eyes re-checked, cannot see properly for more than three weeks. They keep sending me reminders that own something that represents less than 20% of the total value paid for all the glasses not received yet. But does not hold themselves accountable for me not being able to see properly for the last three weeks. read more

Like, how bad does an experience have to be for you to look up an *optometrist* and give them a review? SO, SO, SO BAD. Just like, save yourself. I live in California now but still like going to all my old specialists when I'm in DE - you know, dentists and eye doctors and all that jazz. Went here in mid-August and dropped over $400 on a years worth of contacts; was promised they'd arrive in 3-5 business days before I flew back to LA. On day 5, I called and was like, "uh, hey, can I come pick them up now?" and they were like "what are you talking about?" They sat on my money but had no idea where my contacts were and promised to ship them out. We hit mid-September and I call again asking where they are - no dice. They claim that they were returned to sender and told me that they texted, before sharing a number with me that was NOT MINE. They're like "HAHA, our bad, we'll overnight them!" and I was like, "GAH, fine, okay, thanks." Another week passes and I call again on a Tuesday. At first, they're snarky - "these were delivered last Thursday" - before checking tracking and realizing that THEY OVERNIGHTED THEM TO THEMSELVES. Great!!! They promise to call the Concord Pike location and tell me that they'll overnight them that day. I ask if I need to call and follow up on Wednesday but they PROMISE they'll be delivered next day. Which brings us to today - Thursday, 9/30, 6 weeks after my initial appointment. I call and ask where they are and am transferred several times. I finally reach a woman and while I'm explaining ("I called you on this day, etc.") she stops me and starts YELLING at me ("first of all, you did not contact ME, so stop saying that") which brings me to the full on brink of tears. (Blaming it on Mercury retrograde, but also like...maybe it's NOT unreasonable to start crying when you've spent nearly half a grand on something that's missing and someone yells at you for being upset?) Finally, she's like "no one ever told us to overnight these. I'll ship them now but I can't promise when you'll get them." So we're looking at like...an October delivery date? A never delivery date? For contacts ordered in AUGUST that were quoted with a 3-5 business day turnaround time. I know that this isn't necessarily a review for the services - they're fine - but any branch this disorganized doesn't really have any business poking around in your eyes, you know??? Like, if they can't figure out the US Postal Service or their client's correct phone numbers, do you really think you should trust them to put chemicals in your eyes? BIG YIKES. I used to go to Eye Physicians & Surgeons on Pennsylvania Ave and switched about 5 years ago because Simon Eye is closer to my house and a little cheaper, but don't make my same mistake!! "Luis" who works at the Wilmington office on Concord Pike was rude and unprofessional. When discussing insurance coverage concerning contact lenses, he asked if I would be using my insurance. I responded "Yes, VSP". He then rudely replied "That's what I said". Very inappropriate and unprofessional. Dr. Tucci, on the other hand, is wonderful. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Simon eye used to be very good but now they are horrible. I've been using Simon eye since I was a child. I ordered my contacts a few weeks ago and they said they would be shipped out on May 1st. I called today to check on the status and now they said a whole month away. I canceled my order because obviously I can't wait that long. They refunded my money but it's showing my insurance benefits have been used. I now cannot order contacts still because they haven't fixed it. This company has gone downhill. They take over 10 minutes to answer the phone everytime and the staff is rude when they answer. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Was told that they over charged me for my appointment and that someone from billing would have to call me to fix it. After 5 days and multiple voicemails left I finally got ahold of someone from billing. Terrible customer service and had to see 2 different doctors to get the right contact prescription. read more

Went in looking for eyeglasses and had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. The staff was dismissive and zero help in trying to find frames. Rather than put any effort in to assist me i was told to go to their other location 30 minutes away. read more

They do good work. I never have an issue with my glasses or the doctor. Probably one of the better Optometrists I've visited over the years. Dr. Tucci was helpful in clearing up some issues I'd been having, and changed my prescription to what I've been using for the past two years. I think it's time to get it updated again, so I will be back soon. read more

is I just had my first (and last) visit to Simon Eye Associates on Concord Pike, June 1, 2021. First, I got a call a week before my visit asking me what insurance I had. I told the receptionist I already told the woman who helped me make the appointment that I did NOT have insurance. She stated that the appointment person didn't tell her that. Second, the receptionist at this location asked me if I had paperwork printed from their website. No one told me paperwork was available online. Why didn't she tell me about this when she called to ask about insurance. Third, I paid for the visit and walked out without my new prescription being printed out. I have to ASK them for it? I'm part way home when I remembered, hey, they never gave me my prescription. Back I go to Simon Eye. I walk in the door and the receptionist says, "Back again?". "Yeah, I'm here to get my new prescription." She prints it out and off I go. On a positive note, Dr. Short, was very nice. If she had a private practice, I would definitely become a patient. She took the time to explain my eye health to me. I appreciated that!!! For now, I'll ask my optician if he has any recommendations. US Optical is best for customer care! I'm not the only one who has left a bad review. The best advise I could give at this point is to find a private optometrist, ask friends and family, and do an online search. read more

I just showed up for an appointment that I confirmed only to be turned away because my appointment was cancelled. I received the text to confirm the appointment and I confirmed. They weren't able to fit me in although I rescheduled my day for this and they didn't have any idea why my appointment was cancelled. I'm done with this facility. I received a call from Concord Pike Simon Eye Associates, today. They apologized for the inconvenience and didn't try to make an excuse. They were able to fit an appointment in for my schedule and offered to compensate me for my inconvenience. I'll give them another try. read more

Last week I had a corneal abrasion that was painful. With no appointments available, the Awesome staff and Dr. Tucci somehow fit me in as I was about to go to the hospital. Thank you Simon Eye Associates for saving my cornea, keeping me working and seeing. My eye injury is healing, and I appreciate all of your beautiful staff that have such great skills. I still highly recommend Simon Eye Associates for all your eye care needs! read more

Sad to say I will not be back here. I absolutely adore Dr. Jeppe and the wait time is fantastic. Sometimes it takes a while to get an appointment but it is worth the wait because Dr. Jeppe is one of the best doctors - not just optometrists, but doctors - I have ever worked with. Having said that, sadly, there are issues with the staff. Long story short - Dr. Jeppe proscribed an ongoing, monthly eye drop for me because I have very bad year round seasonal allergies and over the counter products just were not working. I actually went in the first time thinking I had pink eye. Dr. Jeppe took one look at me, put the drop in and it worked. It was not pink eye but rather untreated seasonal allergies. My insurance company paid for the drop for over a year. I then received a letter saying they would not cover the drop unless they received a pre-authorization. I called the insurance company. They said they simply needed someone from the eye doctor's office to send a fax saying I had tried over the counter drops to no avail. I had just picked up a recent prescription and wouldn't need a new bottle of drops for a month so I called Simon Eye thinking I would be proactive and square everything away early. I was told Dr. Jeppe was on vacation and nothing could be done until he returned the next week. I was assured it would be handled, though. Having heard nothing two weeks later, I contacted my insurance company. No pre-authorization. I then called the office. I spoke to the same woman - who had forgotten to send the pre-authorization. A few days later she called me back and said that the insurance company would not cover the drop and that Dr. Jeppe said to just take something over the counter. I then called my insurance company - no record of anyone from Dr. Jeppe's office calling. I was then assured again that all they needed to do was fax them saying I had tried over the counter drops and that they did not work and the prescription was necessary. I called Simon Eye back. At this point, I needed to pick up a new prescription. I was going to just pay out of pocket but I was told by the pharmacist that it would cost $228. That is the only reason I stayed the course with Simon Eye. I called on a Friday. Called my insurance company the next day - no pre auth faxed. So I called SImon Eye that Saturday. I was told no one was in the office and it could not be done until Monday. I was told it would be done though. I called Monday morning around 11:00. Not only had it not been done but there were no notes about this in my file. I was assured it would be done on Monday and I was also asked to leave a message for the office manager, which I did. Tuesday I called the insurance company - still not done. I called Simon Eye again. Today, Wednesday, I was finally able to pick up my prescription as the pre auth had finally been sent. Just now I received my call back from the office manager. In her voicemail she said, "I understand you are calling about a refill. Dr. Jeppe said he cant refill it because the insurance company wont pay for it so just take something over the counter." The level of miscommunication at this place is maddening. I really hope the staff can get it together because I love coming to see Dr. Jeppe but I don't have the time or energy to deal with this level of incompetence. I hate to use such a strong word here but sadly, un der the circumstances, it is fitting. read more

I called this office repeatedly and was unable to reach a living person the last week of August. I used the website as directed for an appointment. I still did not receive a response to make a straightforward refraction appointment for an adult son with an autism spectrum disorder. I finally drove there and made the appointment in person for 9/21/21 and had a card written out for me. Yesterday we received two text messages for appointments, one for the correct time and the next for earlier - 9/17/21, which I did not make. When we called to straighten it out, he was advised about an appointment on 9/17/21 for an appointment we did not make and for a procedure he doesn't need (he's only 30). I am a health care provider and understand how busy we can get but I worry when it is: (1) hard to reach someone for an appointment, (2) the appointment is incorrect even when I presented in person for the appointment (and I have the card), and (3) a patient is slated for a procedure they did not request or need. Maybe it was a bad week/day/month for this group but we will go elsewhere as this has frayed our trust. read more

Dr. Jeppe used four letter words (swears) when talking to me as a patient. I think he has a rather bad attitude. I couldn't believe that he used that kind of language with me. His office also ended up screwing up my order for contacts. I'll never use him again. read more

I have been going to this office for almost 4 years, everytime I go I have always had a great experience, Doctor is awesome, staff are helpful and polite. I am always seen on time and getting an appointment is always easy and convenient. I would recommend this office to anyone in need of a great eye doctor. read more
