I think I have to agree with some reviews here. There are better options for Italian food around Sayulita. Pricey and very OK quality. It seems fancy until you get the food. I had their gnocchi and was pretty tasteless. The sauce was weird and very watery. Nice ambiance, but pretty empty. I should have wondered why. Now I know. As Sayulita transitions from a sleepy surf town to a trendy tourist mecca, big city restauranteuers are making their way here. Increasingly, they bring big city attitude and behavior which is in direct contrast with the local business people and restaurant operators. One such case is Leda. We have enjoyed numerous meals at Leda in the 4 years that it has been open. Last night was the last. In a sheer display of audacity, the restaurant would not provide a wine list, instead suggesting that its list changes rapidly. I am ok w that. Where my problem lies is that when asked if we wanted Cabernet, Pinot, etc., the waiter directed us to a particular ($13 retail) Italian wine. Without sharing the price, and frankly, me not asking the price, I went on trust that my selection would be a reasonably priced wine ($40-$60). Anything higher I would have expected a confirming comment from the waiter. No such thing. After enjoying a wonderful dinner and 2 bottles of wine, I was shocked to see that the 2 bottles of wine cost more than the multicourse meal for 6. I was shocked and felt violated. Certainly I share some of the blame for not asking but going back to my opening comment, the owner (from LA) is just looking to gouge his transient guests. I did approach the owner and he was dismissive and non accommodating, rather suggesting it was my fault and apologizing for not training his staff well. Enjoy dinner here at your own risk. I am not the first to write a review like this. My suggestion is to enjoy a meal at one of the many local operators. They love having you and are in it for the long haul. I have cancelled my reservation for 10 next week at Leda. read more

My first post was taken down because Yelp said it lacked detail (in reality, someone flagged it-- the restaurant, after sending me a scathing response accompanied by a personal attack). No offense taken since I'm sure they don't remember me because they have the same pattern in treating prospective customers. My experience is as follows: A friend and I were walking by this establishment considering where to have dinner one evening in July 2018. We had just gotten back to town from an excursion. The host (blonde male/tatoos) began what seemed like small talk which turned into trying to lure us to the restaurant. He came off as pretentious and was outright rude once he realized we were considering the taco cart outside and he had failed to entice us. We held our rehearsal dinner at Leda and it was absolutely fantastic from the food to the ambiance to the service. Danillo and his team took incredible care of us and gave us a very reasonable price for a 4 course meal with wine included and everyone had their choice of main dish. They set us up in the indoor section that has open doors to the patio, it gave us a sense of our own private area with a feeling of being outside. The pasta was to die for and apparently has a Michelin star rating from their restaurant based in LA. It definitely is on the spendier side for the are but I would highly recommend it if you have a big group and want to do something special! read more

Best meal in PV area. Elena was our sever. She is delightful and charming. We ordered a specialty pizza, salad and tuna tarte for appetizers. We then had an array of entrees. Ahi tuna, spaghetti chiattara, gnocchi, wild boar ragu and ravioli. The tuna was exceptional. The gnocchi and ravioli pillows of perfection. All were spectacular. read more

Seven day stay in Sayulita, hands down the best food we had. That is NOT to say we didn't have good food from other restaurants, we were very impressed with all the food we had while here. It's just that Leda is a cut above the rest. I started with the tuna tartare, it was extraordinary. In fact, I only ended up with a bite since the other 5 people at the table all had tastes and left me with none!! Next was the bolonese, it was also very good. I got some revenge for my friends stealing my tartare when their ravioli arrived, once again, top notch. Service was great, we ate outside in their courtyard with just the slightest rain falling - almost a perfect setting. I'd come back here every night if I could, it was simply that good. I read the reviews and thought let's try it out. The location is beautiful and also romantic. The interior is classy but not cheesy. The staff is super nice but the food...omg i've been a couple of times to Italy and this could really be in Italy. I don't mind spending the money for great food, ambiance and drinks. This place has all that but the price is way too much. Plus you don't know the cost of your one glass of wine till the bill gets thee and then your mouth hits the floor because it's more than your food. We didn't expect perfection from an Italian restaurant in Sayulita, but that's what we got. From the food and drinks to the atmosphere and service, Leda blew us away. The beet pasta with quail and filet mignon with truffle sauce were two of the best dishes I've had -- EVER. It was our second time last night at Leda, we though it would be the perfect place to have a nice romantic Christmas Eve dinner... and it was!!! We were a bit scare at first that the service and the food would be just ok as they were so busy, but it was the most perfect dinner! The service was great, we had a really good Caprese salad as starter , my fiance had the Filet Mignon which he says is one of the best he's ever had!! And he loves steak! This is some of the best Italian food I've ever had! We got two pasta dishes, a special with burrata and prosciutto and the beet pasta quail ragu. They both were exceptional, but the quail ragu pasta was an absolute standout! The service and ambiance were wonderful too. We were in Sayulita for a week. It is, without a doubt, on of the best restaurants in the town. The food was great. The filet mignon was on par with any high end steakhouse. We had high hopes but were disappointed. This was the only poor dining experience we had on our trip. I'll preface this review by saying much of our experience was due to the poor service. I had the most expensive pasta of my trip, 350 or so pesos, and also my worst. It was a seafood special the waiter recommended. We all tried it and agreed it was bland and misrepresented (was said to be a tomato base, but had no sauce - some olive oil I'd assume). The caprese salad was bad - mushy tomatoes and flavourless, hard cheese with no basil (that being said... I'd generally avoid ordering this dish in Mexico). The service: firstly, the guy told us he was new, so take my criticism with a grain of salt! It was near impossible to get the waiters attention. We asked for chilli flakes and were told they did not have them. We tracked down another server who brought us some. Our waiter also said they didn't have bread when we asked, even though the table beside us had some. Then he reluctantly brought it to us... with our bill. He also said they didn't have the chicken or the tuna dishes. The experience was very strange. I'd describe his demeanour as curt and just short of rude. There is always a chance things were lost in translation, however; we didn't experience this anywhere else during our 10 day stay. It's a skip in my opinion. read more

The pasta course dramatically less so, but very, very good. I had the gnocchi and they were velvety and rich. The filet mignon was well prepared. It had the perfect seat. Bread from pizza oven had perfect amount of salt. Seafood pasta with tomatoes and asparagus was terrific. Only regret is we didn't try dessert which looked great on neighboring table. By far one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had! We came in expecting a nice Christmas Eve dinner and 2 hours later left without haven eaten. We had an 8pm reservation, and when after seeing numerous tables who came after us eat without having received our food we asked why we had not gotten our meals, the response, "you need to be patient". After being ignored for another 45 min we got up and left. We soon found out that 3 other tables that same night left without eating as well. Save yourself and don't waste your time!! read more
