I don't know why I waited until the last day of my trip to try the food. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine and the focaccia. It was so much better than I was expecting. I'll start of by saying the food was absolutely amazing. It was very flavor able and would recommend that part only. The ambiance is very cute just all very squished together. The table on the opposite of me and constantly banging into my leg and I wasn't able to move since of how small the table was. The service on the other hand was absolutely terrible. We had to ask for menus, silverware, to order, where our food was, and for our checks several times! We would look at everyone around us and they were all treated like they should've. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from this restaurant. I did not eat or drink anything else in that timeframe that it could have come from, so am certain it was from this restaurant. The food was still delicious, but I would just be careful as food poisoning can be quite common in Sayulita due to the sewage issues. Marcolino pasta y vino has a wood fire pizza oven and cranks out tons of pizza. We watched the lady from across the street last night spinning dough and slamming them out. We had the Salsiccia pizza with sausage, mushroom, gargonzola, tomato, mozzarella. Everything was fresh and delicious! The hit was the spinach and cheese ravioli. You can see the chef hand making the ravioli in the open kitchen right next to the pasta machine. They were amazing! A hearty bread basket starts the night and we opted for the pear goat cheese salad with vinaigrette. A pretty great dinner all around. read more

After several great meals of local Mexican food, we were ready to mix it up, and made a reservation for 16 of us at Marcolino. The owner, Marco, was very friendly and accommodating. And the food was really authentic and top notch. All the salads and appetizers were excellent - especially the Ceasar, Riccola, Dolce, Mamma, Caprese, carpaccio, burrata and prosciutto, and frito misto. The pastas were good, but the wood fire pizzas were over the top delicious. Light, chewy crust, fresh tangy sauce, fresh cheese and toppings. I had the Samara with sauce, prosciutto, fresh burrata and shrimp, and it was incredible! Just wow. We had lots of carafes of their house red wine, which was a perfect compliment. This is the best Italian restaurant in Sayulita,MX. Some may ask Italian in Mexico yes! It's actually very common but Macolino has delicious certified Napoli pizzas and pasta. The chef who cooks all of the fire roasted pizzas is very talented and friendly. You can clearly see she is cooking with love in her heart. The prices are not too high and the potions are delicious. Very very good! We were looking for a break from Mexican and came here. I ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese and my husband had the pizza with ham and burrata on it (can't remember the name). We started with a Caprese salad, which was fine. Good mozzarella, only a tiny bit of basil which seemed slightly dry - would have loved the fat leaves!- and tasty tomato slices. Then, the main course. My fettuccine was delicious- you could tell the pasta was fresh, and the bolognese was perfectly balanced. I was pretty full but ate the entire plate.... it was that good. One star off because of my husband's pizza. I tried it twice, but each bite was sooo salty. I thought it was the ham but had a bite with just the pizza cheese and I still couldn't eat it. Husband had a couple slices but couldn't eat anymore. Bummer for us as the crust was very good! We would definitely be back and give another pizza a go, though. The Italian wall decor, small patio, and sidewalk sign claiming to have homemade pastas and Italian wines is what first attracted me to this Italian resto (there is a small handful of them in Sayulita). We started with the pulpo (octopus) carpaccio appetizer - good but the chorizo overpowered the limey, fresh taste of the carpaccio The gnocchi was hands down amazing. I even spotted the chef make the garlic sauce from scratch and do a little taste test before sending out the plate. The wine? I was nervous that their single selection of one red and one white would t be good, so I ordered a sparkling water in the side thinking I'd have to make an impromptu wine spritzer. Tonight I thought I would take a break from classic Mexican or Mariscos and go Italiano. I decided to revisit a restaurant that I reviewed a couple of years ago but unbeknownst to me they changed hands. Marcolino is Simple classic small tables bistro style. Very comfortable eating alone. Asked about Wine, a bit bruskly he asked red or white. He said it was a Cab but verrry dry for a Cab but I held it aside til my food arrived "Routa" a fettuccine with a vodka sauce and shrimp. Very tasty. The wine was more like a Chianti and worked out well with the food. I would give the wine a 3 I would give the pasta a 4. The server though brisk was very attentive. I believed after getting home that I left my phone, went back and the waiter took his time and explained no one found it he called my number thankfully as I found it in the fridge with the leftovers. Service was just ok. Drink was same-- ok. Food- ok. I had the Cacciatore and the tomato sauce was ok, a bit pasty. Nothing really bad about this place, at the same time nothing really "popped" for me. The layout of the place was ok. You could see into the kitchen and where the brick fired pizzas were being prepared. But a 3 stacks of pizza boxes about 2-3 feet high were on the counter right in front of her blocking out most of the view into her prep area. Which was fine but just seemed a little out of place. Shared a terrific meal here with friends on a balmy evening. We were sat at a table on the street, which was a smidge unnerving if you've ever watched the traffic in Sayulita! What i'm really saying is that its much busier at these tables and harder to have a quieter or romantic meal. Luckily, the four of us were boisterous enough to overcome the various distractions on the street. The service here is above board and perhaps the only thing that suffered due to the aforementioned noise. I'm pretty sure we drank about 3 litres of Vino Tinto and about 10 litres of water, always poured with grace and accuracy. We all shared a Charcuterie board, which was very beautifully (visually) put together. If I had one complaint, it was that there were not enough condiments or little brine extras, like pickled peppers or olives. We also shared an order of Bruschetta because you can apparently never eat enough bread while dining Italian. All four of us had separate pasta dishes, they had a number of meat based Secondi dishes that read well but we didn't want to dampen our wine buzz too much. My companions all oooh'd and mmmm'd throughout their meal, so I can safely assume theirs were as good as mine and as good as the pasta (squid based!) my wife ate. I chose a Cream and Gorgonzola base with Pancetta, normally an odd choice in warm weather but was absolutely eaten in its entirety. I was later told while chatting with the staff, that that Bolognese is famous and whispered about with the crashing of each wave upon the beach. Woah.... read more

I'm in Sayulita a few times a year, and this is usually the first place I come eat. It's seriously some of the best pasta I've ever had ... anywhere. The owner is from Italy. He makes his own pasta. The pear ravioli is one of the best things I've ever eaten. But you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The mussels are freaking outrageous. You would be silly not to experience that outrageous saffron, onion, and cream sauce! We had the lamb, mushroom fettuccini and it was pretty darn good. The sauce was incredibly flavorful. I was expecting shredded lamb, not cut, so that was a bit different. We also had the seafood pasta which was full of mussels and shrimp in a great sauce.
