The permanent exhibit gives the history of Folsom. This was informative from the original indigenous people, gold rush Era, to Intel making its way to the area. Interactive experiences helped engage your experience for both young and mature visitors with photops to make it fun too! Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and shared fun facts. We enjoyed our visit and will be keeping our eye out for the other events and changing exhibits.

My grandkids love coming here sometimes more than once at Christmas time. Thank you to all the residents who decorate their homes to make Christmas time a special place for everyone to enjoy. Coming on the weekends is pretty busy so please be patient. We try to come during the weekdays and park a street away so we can take our time and enjoy the lights. They do allow people to drive or walk around the court so please watch out for your loved ones. Don't forget to bring a few cans of food for the Food bank donation buckets located at the end of the court. Bring your friends and loved ones; everyone is sure to find their favorite house or houses.

Folsom Pioneer Village is the small outdoor museum right next to Old Folsom near the old…read moreroundhouse. It is a mix of live action and historic buildings and artifacts detailing the history of the area. Hours are limited for the facility, but weekends are generally open with volunteers dressed and acting the part. Parking is generous with the large free garage next door. The facility has a live blacksmith workshop which is a fun option for viewing and purchases. There is also an old caboose which is nice for the kids to climb around in. You can easily walk around the exhibits and see the mining and pioneer artifacts. The volunteers also are there to answer questions and provide additional insight into the exhibits. Several downsides to this place. It is all outdoor so you will be exposed to the elements. The place is rather small and may be a little boring to the kids due to the lack of interactive exhibits. Hours are very limited, but admission is free. Keeping the past alive is a great thing to do, and I am glad there is a small piece of history in the middle of Old Folsom. Make sure to check the hours so you get the best experience and watch the weather. Plus there are tons of other things to do in the area!

Typical of every carnival I've been to, you have the vendors yelling at just about everyone that walks by to come in and try one of their rigged games. It's possible to actually win some of them, but the prices are set up so that the best deal is to just outright pay for the highest prize so you get a prize AND you get handed a bunch of arsenal to throw at whatever target your are aiming for. With that said, my bf and I just went ahead and paid for the prizes and just had fun throwing crap all over the place. We weren't even there for 10 minutes and we had already been commented on by at least 4 vendors about my bf's cool Cheech and Chong t-shirt and was even approached by one in an attempt to get weed hookups. I meant c'mon, what the hell. Not every one who loves Cheech and Chong is a stoner, and YOU'RE ON THE JOB, WHY ARE YOU ASKING US THESE THINGS ?!?!? I think they had some sort of impression that he was as suddenly after that encounter, half the staff there was watching us as we went through the carnival. Whatever ugh . Admission was free at least, and we didnt stay long after that encounter, but not before we had ourselves a deep fried snickers bar. Carnival food is always worth the visit.

They even let my friend and I combine our bundles since we couldn't quite make the $5 one separately. We struggled with this decision, knowing it will have an affect on our sponsors, as well as on the public, the vendors, and countless others. The funding that supports the Street Fest was substantially less than necessary to produce a successful event, and although we worked hard to find a way to proceed, after considerable discussion we agreed that the cancellation was unavoidable. Beautiful booths, kiosks, food vendors, and active-life organizations are out in full-force to to share their culture and history with those willing to listen. SETUP I've been enjoying the Pacific Rim Street Festival for more than 15 years, on and off (though more ON) and I have to say it remains one of the highlights of my Springs. The streets are filled all along the major grid of Old Sac, but that doesn't detract from the all the regular businesses in Old Sac. There is a tremendous synergy that goes with the whole business community that attracts a lot fun energy with the people that pack the streets. MARTIAL ARTS I have always been a fan of Andy Ah Po and his school dojo as they perform many exciting feats of martial art prowess for the crowd. As a good friend, I look forward to seeing Andy and his students. THE FOOD! You can't lose here as you have so many culinary delights to choose from, with noodles, rice and fried delicacies aplenty. Filipino cuisine seems to be my favorite at these ventures since I don't usually find it any other time. THE SWAG There are a lot of free souvenirs to collect from various booths, and I have to say that the Dragon and Lion puppets are some of the cutest. Which before I forget, this is a GREAT environment for kids, to learn about other cultures if they themselves are not from or exposed often to Asian cultures. The opportunity to learn from so many friendly people is a boon to promoting great diversity awareness. THE LOWDOWN Whether for food, cultural arts & crafts, martial art demonstrations, and did I mention the food?, you can't go wrong on having a great time here.
