The stoke is real

This was a lovely Roseville neighborhood to walk around and look at Christmas lights! Most of the homes on this loop were decorated and the light walkways were fun to venture through. Our toddler only tried to grab a few of the decorations but that was expected...We went before Christmas and were able to safely walk around. It wasn't too crowded a lot of people just drive through. Looking forward to visiting this neighborhood every year.

What makes this neighborhood's light display so nice and different are the lighted arches in front of so many homes. Kids and kids at heart just love walking through them. Very easy walk around the loop. Not overly crowded and easy to get in and out. I enjoy the lights every time I see them.

Loved the sidewalk loops to walk through and that the neighborhood wasn't crowded. The neighbors in this loop did a great job!

I happened to see this advertised on Groupon and figured I'd check it out. It was normally about…read more$15 a ticket plus fees but I snagged a deal off of Groupon so it was pretty much free. Pro-tip: be sure to park further away as ANY event at the fairgrounds will cost you $10 and in CASH ONLY. In addition to the cover charge, you have to buy $5 vouchers which get you sample sized items from all vendors that were put on. It is somewhat of a glorified food truck event. There were only a few places that weren't food trucks. I didn't really like the voucher system as not all vendors accepted them for things like desserts. I ended up having to trade my voucher back for cash toward the end. It would just be easier to hand the vendors cash for all the items, but apparently the vendors only get like $3 out of the $5 paid for the vouchers. I guess the cover charge isn't enough for the event hosts? It's basically just like any other food festival but overpriced if you're paying for the cover charge and parking. It's not a huge event. You come, try a few things and leave or look at some of the little shops.

Some of the food was better than others, but this was there first one. I expect this festival to grow into an even better experience with more time. The parking and alcohol were expensive and I discussed this with the owner, who noted the city was in charge of alcohol and parking, not them. I was pleased to learn they would be using a different venue for the next one to bring down parking and alcohol costs. I will definitely be going back.

What a fun annual events for all ages!…read more There is free parking in the nearby lot if you get their early or you can park in the neighborhoods and walk into the park. There is also paid parking ($13) that you have to pre-pay online. Follow the signs for "PRE-PAY" and scan the QR code with the person at the gate. Paying for parking was the way to go, it was a short walk into the event when some of my family members had to park far into the neighborhoods. There are some chicken themed vendors and a few chicken dishes can be found at the food trucks. We witnessed a chicken call contest on stage where the person with the best chicken cluck got a gift card for $25! There seemed to be some chicken themed activities for the kids as well. Country music and hay bales as seats. 2 Beer/Wine gardens to ease you from the heat. I bought a load of jalapeno cheese bread from the cutest bakery vendor. We brought our camp chairs and set up under the shade to hear the music and check out the vendors. Beer tickets were $7 and there was a pretty good variety. Fun time!

First time attending the festival, my 2 year old granddaughter and I went and had a blast. We walked around the different vendors, received some free items including a cool chicken hat, little chicken squish toys which she loved, and we learned a few things from the vendors. Had a Mango sorbert and Pink Lemonade from one of the food trucks that was the best I have ever had. Yum! Prices were good for the large size of the items. Parking wasn't too bad, we found some at a nearby business who offered their lot to festival patrons and didn't have to walk to far. There was lots of security walking around the festival, which made you feel safe. My granddaughter had so much fun coloring on the Kids Color Board, bouncing in the bounce houses and playing the mini carnival games. We will definitely will be back next year.

I'm glad I purchased a Groupon for this event otherwise it is not worth the $8 entrance fee. I was…read morebasically in and out of there within an hour. If you go early enough there are plenty of spaces for street parking. There weren't too many people there. I think this is more of an event for the locals. There were plenty of strawberry based foods that included tamales, pizza, salsa, beer, etc., but none of them really appealed to me. I ordered the chicken teriyaki- $6. It was quite big and flavorful. This was probably one of the most popular items there since it had the longest line. I also ordered the strawberry puppies (hushpuppies) for the sake of getting something strawberry related- $2. It was ok but I don't understand why the Hershey's chocolate sauce that was used to dip the strawberry puppies into was so watery. Of course they also sold plain old strawberries. They were some of the best strawberries I ever had. My friend even bought a box of them.

Wish they did have a to-do container though to put these in. Plenty of vendors and contests. I do wish they would have more strawberry based vendors. They did have a lot of cool vendors like honey and BBQ sauce vendors. The variety of organic seasonings and tea was pretty awesome. Though pricey at $5 for 2oz spices and $7 for 2 oz teas. We used an Entertainment coupon, so we only paid $10 for admission. Otherwise, it would have been $20. I definitely would not pay full price for this event. We were in and out in an hour. There isn't THAT much to see warranting the price. Plenty of these are far cheaper or free to attend. I can understand the state and county fair for $10-12 each, but not the Berry Fest. There's more festivities geared towards kids, which a lot of us childless people don't utilize. Plus it costs money for parking as well. ($5 according to another review) We always park further and walk. So I am minusing a star for the entrance and parking fees. Prices are also not all that clear on the site. I had to hunt around and only found the pre-order fee of $9 and it's $10 at the entrance.

10th Annual Sacramento Aloha Festival 2021…read more Aloha kākou! This year the Aloha Fest was held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. I've never attended the location at the Cal Expo but the location in Auburn was a beautiful park-like venue with lots of greenery outside in the open air. It was a nice place to hold the event. The weather was sunny and in the low 80's. Perfect weekend for ending the summer! Folks were out in their lawn chairs just enjoying the day. There was no shortage of entertainment (live native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander), fun workshops, Aloha merchandise, and delicious Polynesian food!!! There were resource vendor booths, educational exhibits, and an arts and crafts Keiki Korner, and lots more. Restrooms were nearby and the grounds was wheelchair accessible. We attended to watch my boss's little keiki participate on stage with the KŪHAI HĀLAU O KANOHEAOKALIKOLAUA'E PĀ 'ŌLAPA KAHIKO dance group led by Kumu Hula, Nohea Macugay. We also participated (attempted) at the Tahitian Workshop with the VAIPUNA NO TE HERE dance group led by Director, Stephanie Manuel. My daughter belongs in the dance group and was part of the workshop. -whew- what a workout. Also, saw my favorite band, Island Sunset Band, on stage. My favorite because "Unko" is a guitar player (married to Yelper, "Aunty" Ronnie B) This was a much needed coming together and made me miss the islands. Everyone is dressed up in character which really helps make you feel immersed. There are loads of actors and performers all around the place, and tons and tons of shopping to be done. We saw the archery show which was....ok. It was cool to see them competing with each other, but it was literally impossible to tell which arrow belonged to who. My suggestion would be to attack a big colorful string or change the color of the arrows to match each contestant. We were left confused as to who was winning the entire time because of it. Nobody was mic'd either so it really was silent in terms of the arena. Next we saw the jousting show which was really fun. Tons of theatrics, horses, fighting, and crowd work! That was a good time. Then we went to walk around and catch some of the smaller shows. The majority of this Faire was just vendors selling things. I love events like the Oddities and Curiosities Expo which bring in tons of vendors showing off stuff I literally have never seen before, and I have a huge impulsive feeling to buy. I didn't get that once at this faire. Sure there was some cool stuff but it really wasn't anything that I felt like I needed to buy. Some soaps, crystals, swords, books, and disgustingly a stall selling AI artwork. Some vendors really did have some cool stuff like handmade clothing that was too far out of my budget, but I would love if I were rich. Lines were insanely long so we didn't eat or drink anything here, but it looked ok in terms of food. I just wish there were some unique vendors here or other things to do like games and events that you can partake in. Overall it's not a place you're going to spend the entire day at, but it's fun to kill a couple of hours in costume. We'll most likely be back next year, I just wish it was a bit more "wow" like others I've seen.

We started by grabbing my wife an Apple Crisp Oatmilk Latte at Fig Tree Coffee. The owners were super friendly. After exploring the food vendors, we settled on Cousins Maine Lobster. Our little one loved the tots and dancing in Daddy's arms to that Bruno Mars cover band Uptown Funk. Next we visited the car show, where we were greeted by a bunch of amazingly well-kept classics. My favorite is still the Wild Bill Tattoo van that spewed flames from the exhaust. Lastly, we went back down the street and got to know some of the vendors. The gals at Delivery Day Bag gave our son 3 pairs of baby socks for free. Coming out to Downtown Roseville was a breath of fresh air from what we normally do. I especially love to support local businesses and events like this are a great opportunity to do just that. We'll be back for more!

I think we've been coming here for about seven years, mainly because hubby comes for the car show. My original review was under the name Johnny Five Productions. They've been the master mind who's put this event together for many years. It's an event held every Tuesday from late May til the end of August. Vernon Street is blocked off for cars, food trucks and vendors, wide array of your typical street vendors, kiddie section and live bands that put on a free performance. If you don't like eating from food vendors, you can always get a decent meal at one of many restaurants that are on Vernon Street. From the Monk's Cellar, The Place, Nela's Mexican, and Vernon Street Grill. It's a great place to hang out with friends and family. We usually come to hang out with the car club but enjoy all that this event has to offer.

However, there were hardly any cars, so we could do a slow, easy drive. It was still magical with lots of lights throughout this neighborhood. The standout feature was that the streets were lined with continuous strings of white lights that swagged down the participating areas, creating lit paths to follow. It was impressive! There were definitely some houses that went above, while others were more simple, but all delightful to see. Here & there, Christmas trees were in the middle of a court or roundabout. We aren't familiar with the neighborhood & lost track of how we meandered through, so next year we'll try to figure out a good route. We'll definitely plan to come back earlier during the next holiday season to enjoy the full experience.

Rockmont Lights in Natomas is all they say it is and more!…read more My friend, daughter and I wanted to check out Christmas lights last night and decided to check out Rockmont Lights instead of fighting the Fab 40's crowd. It was a first time for all of us and we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived around 7:30pm and it was already pretty busy, but we found some parking on a nearby street. Most of the streets surrounding Java Court were festively decked out and flooded with people - we made our way over to Java Court and I was so surprised to see a massive Christmas tree in the center of the court. There was Santa and The Grinch happily taking photos with families and a couple of fire pits that people were warming up by! They were handing out candy canes to passing cars and I believe they were even selling hot cocoa in front of a few houses! You can drive around the area, but I highly recommend walking it to fully experience the magic that Rockmont Lights has to offer! Make sure you bundle up though! Rockmont Lights definitely gives Dovewood Court and even some streets in the Fab 40's a run for its money! We will be visiting every year now and making it a new tradition!
