This is a long review but worth it to explain my overall experience with Fred Weston lately. I've used Fred Weston plumbing many times over the last 10+ years in different homes. But this time they really let me down. I had to call them on a Sunday because I had water in my garage between my water heater and hvac. After having two water claims in three years: a toilet leak that damaged the ceiling in the bathroom below it, and a fridge solenoid going bad which allowed water to keep flowing into my ice maker and flood my kitchen. You could say I was panicking about where this water was coming from. There was enough water that it had slowly made a small river under my car and out the garage door. I called FW and was told how much it would be to have them come on a Sunday because there's a minimum of 3 hours or they could try to get me on the schedule. I didn't want to wait because who knew where the water was coming from - a busted pipe somewhere? When the young man came out, he went to all the bathrooms as well as the kitchen, looking under the sinks and behind toilets. He even looked in my attic space - visually from the doorway. Then he looked around the garage at the drainage pipes from the water heater and hvac. No water was visibly leaking. Did he then shop vac the water up? No. He called his boss who agreed with him that he should cut a hole in my garage wall between the water heater and hvac unit. Okay I said, if that's the only way to find out where it's coming from. Well, upon cutting a hole in the wall we discovered that that's just a concrete wall. There are no pipes which meant that any pipes would be above the garage since I have a 3-story condo. He then proceeded to take some of the ceiling tiles out and see if there was any noticeable leaking. None found. I had gone back in my house during all of these events, hoping he'd tell me what he found. When he was done with his investigation, he came in and told me that it looked to be the hvac unit! He said "I got the water cleaned up as best as I could so there's no standing water and it's pretty dry, that's when I noticed that the water looks to be coming from behind the hvac." He told me it's probably a drain pan that's gotten rusty or has a crack in it. (Come to find out, he was right.) It was the following day that I thought about how he hadn't even shop vac'd the water before he cut a hole in my garage! And the site of the hole in my garage - because of course he hadn't fixed the hole in my garage - made me realize that I've been taken for a ride. I called the company and left a message with someone (Linda?) and she said she'd talk to her supervisor and the technician who'd come out on Sunday. I waited another week and when I got no call back, I decided to email them. The only way I could email them was to fill out the contact form on their site. Once again, I got no reply. After two weeks, they did go ahead and cash that big check I gave them on that Sunday. For a while I was thinking maybe they weren't going to cash it because they realized they messed up my garage for NO REASON WHATSOEVER, but I guess I was living in a fantasy world with that scenario. I'm still peeved about the hole in my wall which I still have to fix, and the fact that they have not even had the decency to return my call or email. Shame on Fred Weston Plumbing, and shame on me for being fooled into paying someone for doing absolutely nothing except damaging my property and THEN discovering the issue wasn't a plumbing issue. I knew the price would be high for a Sunday, but I didn't expect them to do the job in a way that left me with a hole to patch and no one to have the decency to get back to me. I'm sure if they take the time to reply it will be to write a long response deflecting or coming up with excuses like they have on other poor ratings. Follow-up to response by "owner". No one called me back. No one emailed me back. No one followed up. Finding out where the water is coming from would've been easier if the water wasn't there. Use common sense. This company is quick to respond to complaints when we leave them a bad review but they are NOT quick to reply to attempts to contact them via phone or email. Excuses excuses is what this company is good at. This is the last follow-up I will have on this review. read more

Had a hot water heater installed. Several smaller mistakes were made, but they cleaned up that mess. The real problem was not hooking up one electrical wire, so it didn't work at all. Quickly called them, and they said that it was my problem, and I should call an electrician to fix it. I made the repairs myself and sent a letter. Woke up to a leaking pipe and called another company first and they were busy all week. Called Fred Weston Plumbing and they said they were booked, BUT, what was the issue. I explained my plumbing leak and I was told we will put you on a waiting list in case something came open. I was contacted the same day and my leak was fixed, quickly and for a fair price and cleaned up the work area! Thank you so much for getting our problem solved and fitting us into your schedule! Amazing and timely service. We had a pre existing line that was closed and had an electric stove. We wanted to get back to gas. We called and they sent someone out quickly for a free estimate.. kind of unheard of where we used to live. We decided to have him do the work.. again super quick. We had wanted to order the oven from Loews and he said once we had a drop off date to let them know so they could come out. They were the friendliest two workers ever! A younger plumber was his assistant. They set up the pipes and even hooked up our new stove.. Loews told me a huge price to have it done. Weston plumbing did gas line hook up and install for less than a big box store. They answered all of our questions and concerns.. even showed us where the main gas shut off was in case of emergency with any of our gas appliances like fireplace or water heater. They even made sure our water heater pilot light was turned back on, we are forever thankful. read more

These guys were great. Showed up as scheduled, courtesy called when they were in route. Showed up to house looking and acting like professionals. Listened to my long winded explanation of what I "thought" was wrong then did their job. Turns out it was not a major problem, they fixed it and were gone. I am unsure what is going on with Fred Weston Plumbing. I have used them for plumbing services for my rental houses over the past several years. They have always done a good job. Bryan Abell was recommended by my previous plumber when he retired in 2018. Last week I contacted them to repair a leak from ice maker line and a leak under the kitchen sink in one of my rental units. The plumber unexpectedly showed up 1 1/2 hours earlier than expected (3:00-5:00PM appointment time period) and did not repair the kitchen sink leak. After discussions with the tenant, I attempted to contact Fred Weston Plumbing to check why the repairs were not completed. They are neither willing to answer my telephone calls nor return my messages. I would not recommend using Fred Weston Plumbing until assurances are received that they have corrected their business practices. read more

We scheduled a service to fix the drain under our kitchen sink. We have switched from a double sink with two drains to farm house style with a singe drain. When the technician viewed the situation; he was very nice but told us he he would not be able to complete the job that day, but would need to come back another day. He charged us $100 even though no work was done. We called the office to see if the $100 could be deducted from the future work and we were told no, that is our policy. I just had these guys come out and replace my outside hose bib. I had asked another big name in Knoxville for an estimate for this same job. The, "big name" quoted me an estimate of $375.00 to replace the old hose bib. Fred Weston did it for $142.92! I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone. Fred Weston Plumbing was called based on favorable reviews to assess our needs for a complete renovation of our home's seriously outdated plumbing service from the City's meter to our basement with a new supply. My wife and I knew what we needed, which included the installation of new service from the City's meter to our home, the removal and hauling away all old galvanized piping with then upgraded service to bathrooms and kitchen, and possibly the installation of a tankless water heater. This is the last leg of our renovation journey with our 90 year old house. We live in the Springbrook area of Alcoa. I was working but my wife met with him in our home to go over the job. That meeting occurred sometime in mid Jun '21. To date, we have not heard back from him and phone calls go unanswered. Not exactly what I was expecting from a "seasoned well-reviewed service professional". Moreover, if you can't do the job because you have neither the time or desire, simply call with a follow-up or drop us a note in the mail. I had a water heater which was leaking in the garage. The plumbers sent by Fred Weston Plumbing were professional and timely while addressing the situation. Fred Weston Plumbing phone staff was also very courteous. Fred Weston Plumbing replaced the water heater promptly, but the new one leaked. A 2nd water heater was installed after Fred Weston Plumbing worked diligently with the manufacturer (American Water Heaters was very difficult to deal with during this ordeal), but the 2nd water heater also leaked. They brought out a 3rd water heater, but it was dented up from Fred Weston Plumbing pressure testing procedures, and I refused delivery. I discussed the situation with the owner and he gave up. He said the water heater was not a show piece, his team put too much time into the work, and I would have to get the heater replaced with the manufacturer myself. You can tell how good a company is based on how steadfastly they stand behind their work and their products when things don't go according to plan. Is Fred Weston Plumbing a company you can trust if the work goes bad? You be the judge. Make sure you pay with a credit card, though, so you have some recourse. read more

I bought an old house with many issues. These guys have always been prompt, honest, and great to deal with. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Have used Fred Weston Plumbing for well over 20 years and have always gotten good service from Brian Able now owner.

Used this company once and was satisfied. Second time I called, they did basically the same type of job but the plumber brought a "helper" without my agreement. The "helper" did nothing but hand the guy a tool and hold the sink while he loosened a faucet bolt. Installing a bathroom faucet is NOT a 2-man job!! Yet this company charged me 76% MORE to install the bathroom faucet than they did on the kitchen faucet. I wrote a letter, and to add insult to injury, "Bryan" (apparently the owner?) attempted to justify the OUTRAGEOUS increase in price!!! I will tell everyone I meet not to be taken advantage of by this company, and I will NEVER use them again! Disgusted and feeling taken advantage of. (They also spelled my name wrong.) read more

Being able to do most all plumbing jobs myself, it was hard for me to look for one, but I was in a time crunch and I needed one within 24hrs. Without going into details of the plumbing job, I'll just say it was essential but not too difficult for anyone with plumbing skills and the right tools and materials. I had neither at the time and was short on time. I walked away from the task last evening frustrated and not sure what I would do. Last night I did a quick search for plumbers near me and Fred's came up with a 5 start yelp rating. I looked at it, and it said open 24 hrs. So I called. A person answered. It was 1045 pm. I asked if this was answering service and she laughed and said no but she had forgot to forward calls to the service. She was apparently one of the business owners. She was friendly, asked what was needed and when and scheduled someone for today between 1230 and 230. I got a text at 1215 stating they were on the way and have a me link to follow his travel progress. Also gave me his name. He then called to confirm and by 1230 ish he was there, and by 140 he was done. I was so relieved given the nature of why I needed this done. $201 dollars later, parts and labor, he was gone. I was so happy. Why? Because the buyer of the property was coming to do a final walk through at 430 before closing on Monday. Thank you Fred Watson's. I will use your services again. read more

I had a major problem with the sewer backing up into my house. I was frantic to find a plumber who could tend to me quickly. Roto Rooter was already charging me a hefty fee and had not been able to solve the problem. Fred Weston Plumbing was recommended by two reputable companies who were not able to assist me at the time. Madison took my information and Brian was out to my house within two hours. Brian took the time to carefully assess my situation. His expertise, honesty, and professionalism ended up helping me resolve my problem and saving me a bunch of time and money. Bryan & Jeff are the best pair of Plumbers I have ever used. These men found a problem that was causing my wash machine drain to overflow. They tried all methods to unclog my drain but none worked. They finally had to cut the trap out on the drain pipe as the last resort and found a rubber grommet that had been lodged in the trap causing a restriction and the problem was solved. Drain works perfect now thanks to a couple of great guys. I would definitely would use these fellows again, they do great work. read more
