I broke a nail while on business travel and had time to fit in a gel manicure between meetings. This salon was next to my hotel so I walked over. They have about 10 nail stations and 7 pedi chairs. The salon is very clean and everyone was friendly. They knew they hadn't seen me before. Denny did an excellent job on my nails. The price was reasonable and the service was efficient. This would be the kind of salon I'd visit regularly if I was local. Plenty of free parking. I watched another customer get an ombré manicure with an airbrush- it was fast and beautiful. My flight was delayed so I looked for a salon close to ORD. I came in as a walk-in and was welcomed. A lovely lady gave me a wonderful pedicure. She took a long time massaging my feet and calves. Afterward I had a manicure and my nails 'dipped.' Again, she did a good job. Afterward, she asked me if I would like to have my brows done, so I did. All together, I was expecting a bill of $200 but it was only half of that, excluding the tip. I did get a discount for paying cash. The atmosphere was very friendly. I met a few 'regulars' who gave me some tips for local restaurants. I could tell that they all frequented the salon and were very pleased either the services. I had a very disappointing experience at this nail salon. I came in specifically for dip nails and had informed the nail technician before my appointment that I am allergic to a certain product. Despite this, they did not have the proper materials for dip nails and attempted to use the exact product I had clearly stated I am allergic to. If I had been told ahead of time that they did not have the appropriate supplies, I would have never come in for the appointment. Looking for a nail place on Yelp, I discovered Lee Nail Salon. I was worried that it would be crowded at 5 pm. on a weeknight. The manager was super friendly and helped me pick out colors. She was efficiently getting customers to the nail techs. The inside of the salon was a little cramped, but I felt that the service was good. The manager knew her regulars by name and was engaged in good conversation. Even though it was my first time, she treated me well, too. For being near ohare, I expected high prices, but they were pretty fair. They accept card, but prefer tips in cash. Super solid gel manicure for $35. Two weeks later and while it's grown out a bit (obviously), there is a zero chipping. One star docked for a few reasons: I don't feel that my stylist was particularly attentive to getting close to my cuticles, so the manicure appeared to grow out quite quickly. It's slight dated inside and it gets super busy; I was told they take walk-ins; however I made an appt to be safe, and I'm glad I did because those who were walking in were having to wait a very long time. When I first started coming here I loved it. Then about a year ago, I asked that the color for my toes match my nails. The woman gave me two options and I have a hard time being able to select the color so she chose for me. NOT A MATCH and then she blamed me. I didn't go back until today. They gave us the ok go, we arrive and are serviced immediately. But it was obvious we were being rushed. It took about an hour and was actually better than my last two nail jobs back home in Kentucky. It was more expensive than I am used to paying, but I don't know what is average in Chicago. I came in with uneven nails I told her to even them out they are still uneven. Kept trying to add more services worried more about adding on then doing the job correctly. The tech didn't even have me wash my hands before putting on the polish just but the polish over the dust was in such a hurry to get it done the price was outrageous for two pedicures and one manicure. The tech didn't even file down the spurs on the nails underneath kept catching on stuff they need to do a better job at the service you ask for and not try to add on more bad services. We where charged $144.00 for two pedicures and a manicure price was outrageous. read more
