We think we will be treated with care, respect, honesty and compassion when something comes up. Am i wrong? [TL;DR ---- cavity turned into root canal within 1.5 wks. wanted credit to root canal (about 45 bucks). office refused in a shady way] Alafaya Dental Care was recommended by a friend of mine. ACTUALLY, it was more like 4 friends. If 4 for your friends go to see the same dental office, you would think, "Wow, I guess they are doing a great job!". Well, maybe I'm the outlier but hear me out. I confess. I was one of those that didn't have insurance for awhile so I didn't have the opportunity to see the dentist a lot and thus, I got some work to do on my teeth. I understood I would be spending a pretty penny on my teeth after neglecting for awhile . My first visit here -- I got my treatment plan for cavities and some deep cleaning. Cool Cool. Schedule me. My second visit -- Alright one side of the teeth was scaled and planed and a cavity was filled. A deep one, I was told. My third visit -- (about 1.5 wk after my 2nd visit) more cleaning and hey Doc, my tooth hurts on the cavity that was a deep filling. Doc says, okay *taptap*, it look likes it needs a root canal. I'm thinking over here, wow, ok, I'll bite the bullet since it hurts like a mutherferrrr. Then I was thinking wait a minute, I DID PAY for the cavity which she filled a week and a half ago (out of pocket, maybe 40-50 bucks at the most, rest was by insurance). I kindly asked the front desk lady, would it be possible to have my cavity payment applied to my root canal since I had just got it done? Literally. She's wavering and not knowing what to tell me, but says something to the effect like, it seems reasonable but let me ask the doctor. She goes back there and says the Dentist can't be reached WHILE the Dental Assistant that was in the same room, comes out and scribbles "no discount" on the my treatment paper, and slides it back to the front desk lady, WITHOUT acknowledging me. The front desk lady flips over the paper but never tells me if they were able to apply the credit. OKAY.... That was a Tuesday. Thursday comes around and I called the office. Another front desk lady answers the phone, I explained to her the exact situation of how I needed a root canal after 1.5 wks of filling and I just want a credit of what I paid for it. She didn't think like I was crazy or psychotic for asking and said it sounds logical but let me ask. I call again that same day to get the answer and the lady that checked me out last time and schedules me all the time gives me the answer. The answer was No. She says the discount cannot be given and in her exact words, "the work was performed". She assured me she had ask the dentist and that was the dentists choice. After that phone call, I contemplated of getting the work done by them further but I REFUSE to go back there. I no longer want work to be done on my teeth by people that cares more about 45 dollars than a patient that they want to see further and really care about. To quote what I said earlier, I am looking for a doctor that treats patients with, "care, respect, honesty and compassion when something comes up". This dental practice did not follow the personal qualities I'm looking for. They made me feel dumb and was not being honest when they already decided what they were going to do. The 1 star was for the hygenist because she seem genuinely nice and cared. The office was also clean, 2nd star. My initial visit was with Dr. Lach, who is the only provider with the facility. Dr. Lach expressed that my teeth were not too bad and that I should only need braces for a year to 15 months, max. I was even told that at the end of my treatment I would receive a retainer as well to restructure my gum line for a better smile. Since that appointment, all future appointments were with random dental assistants. All following appointments I've had, required me to wait well over my scheduled times and my treatment has been all over the place. Two emergency appointments were conducted at the Oviedo office, where I waited over two hours to be seen. After driving 45 mins to the Oviedo office, the dental assistant cut a portion of my wire to make it comfortable but did not actually fix the issue. Once again, I had not been seen by the Dr. Lach. As I mentioned, nearing 3 years I've had treatments such as wearing rubber-bands or not, installing temporary fixes because they were behind on schedule, installing springs to open spaces that were already closed. I've questioned the dental assistant's decision as to why my treatment was not going as coordinated. I requested 2 to 3 times for an appointment with the actual doctor to question my treatment. I've texted the number for emergency appointments as prompted, to still be with no service for nearly a year now. The staff member that answered the phone stated they are doing everything to get patients scheduled while following the Covid quarantine. Although, Ive called, texted and left voicemails prior to Covid. I've called and stated I needed a face to face with Dr. Lach to express my concerns and complaints. My wires have been broken and brackets broken for well over an year. I still have yet to get scheduled for an appointment. I've last spoke with someone in May of 2020 who said "be patient someone will get me scheduled" she was rude and added that "there are a lot of patients to get scheduled." I have since then moved out of state and have called for reimbursements and to speak with Dr. Lach all with negative results. My treatment has been paid in full for some time now. However, my services has not been fulfilled. I will be contacting my financial institution to dispute all transactions if this issue is not resolved. If Lach Orthodontics are overwhelmed by patients, then maybe the company should consider not taking on any new clients or hire more help. This would prevent the miserable experience as I have encountered.

I would caution anyone that would like to become a patient to please spend the extra time looking at these for a clearer picture of the practice. Our child became a patient based on the recommendation of our family dentist. That's all the research we did. The sales process was fine; informative; and, full of disclaimers and limitations that we didn't understand; but, nonetheless expected. And, the price was in line with our expectations. Our child's teeth were a mess, with more than a few missing adult teeth; baby teeth that would not come out; an overbite; and, the like. Through it all, we endured endless waits, rushed services, beratings from the doctor, late times, extended times; and, form after form to sign up for more services, such as whitening, retainer insurance and the like, which we never did. Worst of all, we received conflicting information regarding "the plan" and many times from the same doctor that had provided the update the visit prior. We were not told why certain things were recommended or not. And, we eventually had to make an appointment with an oral surgeon to finally get the full picture. Our child's teeth are straighter; and, are in retainers. We have only 1 more retainer set that the practice is under contract to deliver to us. At this point, we are going to transfer to another orthodontist and will simply pay for the retainers needed over the next few years. The implants are coming; and, that's going to be up to 10 times more than the braces ever were, so we are preparing for that. If we'd been treated with as much empathy and respect during the services as we had received during the sales process, this would have been a 5-star review. Almost all of the employees are great; but, the turnover is immense. It's the professional staff; and, the turnover with doctors that have frustrated us. Also, the long waits before and during treatments served only as major irritants.

Almost like the board demanded shut down due to an issue that may have occurred. Boy do I wish I had took this as a sign. When my first issue with the office occurred, I sent a text to their portal stating something along the lines of "I see why they shut you guys down, they should do it again" EDNA, then called me literally yelling. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this woman was yelling at me for saying that comment and then threatened me with "I CAN HAVE THE DOCTOR DISMISS YOU AND YOU'LL ONLY GET 20% OF YOUR PAYMENT BACK" Being that I had my braces on for 3 months at the time and paid them in full, I was in NO position in getting "dismissed" so I had to play the part well and apologize which is INSANE lol Fast forward to my 2nd last visit, I flew out from tx since I no longer live in FL. This visit was to do a scan for the removal/retainers.. The scanner didn't work lol can't make this up. No sorry, no empathy, nothing!! CAROLINA stated "well it's not working what would you like me to do?" In her very monotone way. I then asked to speak to the doctor because I paid $300 specifically to make it to this appointment and he got argumentative. He was laughing sarcastically and not allowing me to speak Till I finally said "allow me to speak, I'm The one who flew out here just for you guys not to be able to do absolutely anything other than reschedule me" After I left, I asked them to release me since I no longer live in FL and found a much better doctor that was willing to remove the braces and complete the work, only if Dr.lach provided a letter of approval. Took a week to hear back just for Edna to let me know that Dr.lach said no because he wants to finish the work himself. I told her no worries, I'll leave a review on yall. She then bribed me by offering the teeth polishing for free in lieu of a good review. They ended up telling me they don't recommend I do the teeth polishing on the DAY OF but still gave me the options to do it if I wanted to. And you know what, I honestly was going to give them some grace and leave a better review and not share as much of the negative but then during my last visit (YESTERDAY 9/16/25) For some reason I was not scheduled for the teeth polishing. After waiting 40 minutes I asked the receptionist how much longer so he went to check with Brad and BRAD responded "idk, Edna scheduled her not me" He said it in a way as if I was such a bother and loud enough for Me to hear it.
