Recently, I hired Lee's Concrete to demolish and rebuild a 50' collapsed retaining wall in my backyard. We all know what a nightmare it can be to find a trustworthy contractor. However, when I first met Mr. Lee and started discussing the project, I just knew that he was the one to hire due to his confidence and expertise in his field. I felt a strong sense that he wasn't out to get me, but rather to honestly help me and rebuild the wall with budget in mind. I chose Lee's over two other previous bids, and I am very glad I did. On day one of the demolition phase, foreman Augustine and his awesome crew just blew my mind at how efficient, precise and hard working they were. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed and felt at ease, knowing that I was definitely in good hands. Within a week, I had a beautiful brand new retaining wall built better than ever. Equally impressive was Joyce at the office making sure I was never left hanging with questions or concerns. All my queries were handled in a timely manner. This was my very first time hiring anybody to do any sort of landscaping work. I was ignorant going into it so I had to lean heavily into the landscapers expertise on what would be best for what I wanted to achieve. After getting a few quotes, I chose Lee's Concrete because he impressed me the most with the ideas he presented, not being pushy or sales-y, while also staying competitive price wise. He is also officially licensed for concrete. The project started around May 2025, and completed towards the end of July 2025. It consisted of concrete pouring, artificial turf installation, irrigation routing and laying out gravel/river rocks in planting areas. Also, a 2D layout diagram was provided for me to submit to HOA for approval. Below is a list of critiques ranked starting with my biggest letdowns: #1) WEEDS. Not via the concrete, but the artificial turf that was laid out. Lee offered artificial turf installs during my contractor search. My main reason for getting artificial turf was to have little-to-no maintenance. But, mines constantly has weeds growing out of the edges due the gap in the ends not being sealed. My next door neighbor had artificial turf installed by another landscaper and never has any weeds growing out of the edges ever. They had theirs installed after mine. Maybe it was my fault for not communicating that need initially. But at the same time, I thought having artificial turf laid out and it preventing weed growth on the edges would be a given. #2) Blotchy concrete coloring on front yard. My backyard's concrete coloring was pretty consistent and I was very happy with how it turned out. But my front yard was very blotchy and inconsistent. I was told that this is normal and will take about a year to cure and to give it time. Another reason was for differing "pH levels" for the area where the concrete was laid. Well... a year has passed and it has kind of improved here and there, but not so much in other parts. So, I'm a little hesitant to believe it that is actually the reason. It doesn't make sense to me that all the concrete laid out in my entire neighborhood doesn't look as bad as how it looks on my driveway. Structurally, it's fine. But it is a bit of an eye-sore looking at it every time I'm in my front yard. #3) I felt like I spent more time than I needed to checking for imperfections. A main one was my vinyl fence and cinder block wall getting dirty from the concrete pours. Another big one was the cinder block retaining wall in my backyard not being symmetrical on the edges. I had to call it out a few times to even get it fixed. Once it was finally fixed, my vinyl fence had residue from the cinderblock wall fix. By that time, I had gotten fatigue from having to constantly call out imperfections and let that one go. #4) You don't really know when the landscapers will come out to do the work. If I remember correctly, they would come out most weekdays. But, you wouldn't know if they would show up the next day or not. Not too big of a deal honestly. I'm more picky about this because I like to keep the side gate to my backyard locked and not knowing when to unlock it in the morning was just a tiny annoyance. I ended up just unlocking it first thing in the morning and locking it in the evening every weekday. Overall, I'd rate the project a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 - which I think is a very fair assessment. I'm relatively happy how it looks at the end. But there were a few bumps along the way which is why I cannot give a 5 out of 5. It pains me to write the above critiques and not be able to give the highest rating because Lee and the rest of his team were all very nice people. But there definitely could've have been improvements for the entire project. read more

Opened a project to get quotes for concrete work at my home and scheduled an appointment with Lee so he could take measurements and discuss the details for the estimate. The appointment was set for today from 10:00-11:00 AM. At 11:21 AM, I received a text saying he couldn't make it. We had already adjusted our original 12:00-2:00 PM appointment to accommodate your request to move it earlier after you reached out yesterday. This is not a great first impression, and the communication has been less than ideal. We set aside time from our workday to be available during the agreed appointment window. We wanted to build a front patio to mirror the ones we see in Corona Del Mar. We also wanted to replace our driveway. When we met Lee the initial impression is intimidating because Lee is very sharp looking. I told him I didn't even want to see the estimate because I thought it would come in very high. Lees estimate actually came in 2nd out of 3. We didn't go with the lowest estimate and we didn't go with the highest estimate which was someone we had worked with before. We went with Lee because he was very detailed, gave me some very good ideas on what we should add to our plans, and had an iPad to show me examples of how our project would look. Coincidentally, when my wife met Lee during the second meeting she realized that Lee actually did our entire hardscape at our home in Chino Hills in 2013. Now after a month our project has finally ended and the entire experience was very pleasant. There was maybe a minor hiccup, but Lee was able to fix the issue without any additional cost. It seems his only goal was to make sure we were satisfied. There are two other houses on our cul de sac going through heavy landscape remodeling as well and Lee guaranteed ours would be the best. Since construction has ended several neighbors have told us they are extremely impressed by the work and it is indeed the best on the block. Lee and his staff are 100 percent professional and always in a pleasant, smiling mood despite working in the hot sun. Any request we made were received kindly and fulfilled. I have referred a coworker to Lee and I think he may get more work from my neighbors. I think anyone looking can surely find a cheaper contractor, but buyer beware. If you want a sure thing. I got Lees Concrete info from a neighbor and I'm so glad I did! Lee was able to provide us with an accurate estimate and timeline. Not only was he extremely detailed and knowledgeable, he was also so kind and flexible. The men on his team were also kind, professional and fast workers. They were also nice enough to come back and fix some things I wasn't thrilled with. I had such a great experience with using Lees Concrete and would recommend them! One thing I wish went more smoothly was the communication. Lee communicates through Joyce and so I didn't have any way of contacting him. We would have to connect with Joyce who would get in touch with him. Also it wasn't clear what days the workers would work because they get assigned the day of and even then, no one knew the time they'd start work that day. We've been wanting to improve our curb appeal for a while and started looking. We met with Kelvin and he's been very detail focused and responsive! We wanted to clear out the corner lawn which was full of weeds and I had to maintain it weekly, also add additional concrete in the backyard. A lot of little things that were a headache with our project. First off, the communication- the biggest one was not being able to talk to the owner directly and always having to go through other people to get questions and concerns answered. Then, we would have appreciated to have the owner come out when the project was done to see if we were satisfied and to check out the work. Once we paid the workers the last installment, we didn't hear from Lee anymore. Also, we were always having to remind the workers of what we had asked to be done. Then, since they wouldn't come everyday or different workers would come on different days, they would forgot what we asked or corrections that's needed to be done. Always having to be watching that the work was done correctly was a pain, instead of just being able to let them work. Then, they would show up at 10a or 11a, which made it harder because we'd be at work and couldn't communicate. The work was completed and it looks nice, but a lot of details were overlooked. We've had people ask why the work was done incorrectly, from others in the same industry. I hate leaving reviews, but felt compelled to just say the truth. read more

The small project is to remove the existing lawn and replace it with new concrete area, pebbles and new sod area. I gave them the detail plan drawing. Their quote is fair and Juan did a great job for the concrete finish. My only suggestion is to inform the home owner on the working schedule (since the worker don't work from start to finish every day due to that they are also working on multiple other project at the same time). Mr. Lee came out for a quote the following week and i felt the price was reasonable, so we decided to move forward with the project. During the duration of the project I decided there were other things I wanted to add on. Joyce was very communicative and made sure that every detail I kept asking for was going to be added to the project. The foremen that work for Lees concrete are also very knowledgeable at their crafts. First the good. Lee was very responsive and timely. He showed us photos of his work, and drew up a design for our project. He wasn't the absolute cheapest but he was far from the most expensive. Lee legitimately tried to save us as much money as possible, but that's where it started to go south. I asked for drains to run from my backyard and out to the front curb. Lee insisted that it would be more cost effective to just put these plastic 'pop-up' drains in the backyard and front yard that would be sufficient. Of course I'm all for saving money so I agreed to this. In just a few months, the grass had sunk (due to water) and grown over the pop-ups and my yard was more drenched than ever with even moderate rain (see photos - those "reflections" are puddles of water after a moderate rain). I contacted Lee maybe a couple of years after the original job...not to complain, but simply to hire him to redo my yard with a true drainage system that runs out to the curb. Lee insisted that I didn't need that, and the pop-ups worked just fine. He reluctantly quoted me to redo it with proper drainage. Given the reluctancy, I hired somebody else to tear apart my yard and redo it with proper drainage. I have no problems in the years since that job was done. Also over the years, the concrete that Lee put in has not held up well. You can see in the photos the discolored, stained, and cracked concrete put in by Lee compared to the original concrete that came with the house in 2003! Now back to a positive, the retaining wall he did has held up well. read more
