We first started our project with Billie Bivens in March of this year, 2026, to relandscape our front yard with turf, retaining walls, and stone. Over the period of a month we made several revisions to our project. On each occasion Billie made the revisions and gave new pricing for the project. After meeting with three competitors and making an abundance of changes, we finally signed with Billie and Rock N Block because they were the most responsive and had the best understanding of our vision. At the end of May, Pablo, our project manager, and his crew began our project. Billie checked in on our progress twice during the installation, which impressed me because sales reps are usually never seen after the contract is signed. As the project progressed, Pablo and his crew were very responsive in listening to our changes to ensure our vision came to life. I started working with Patrick Whinnery this summer to renovate part of my yard. The scope of the project began with sod, but expanded to include a New England-style stone garden wall. Patrick excelled at developing design ideas that would look great while also helping the yard withstand two large dogs. He was extremely flexible and responsive as the overall plan evolved. He also helped me understand the pricing structure and what to expect in terms of timing. The whole team--including Alexis, who worked in the field, and his colleagues in the main office, who worked behind the scenes--provided exceptional customer service. Patrick and Alexis worked with me to choreograph the project, as I had to travel midway through installation. The team members who built the garden wall took the time to walk me through what was possible with the stone I'd selected and showed meticulous attention to detail in their craftsmanship. Mr. Bivens did an amazing job coming out and doing an estimate he was super professional the prices were a bit high.

Would have given the business 5 stars if in fact the business actually did the work and it was as good as what the other business did. Turns out the work was actually subcontracted to another business which is always a bit sketchy considering that the subcontractor can put a mechanics lien on your property if he doesn't get paid by the company you contracted with. Also, communication between "Rock n Block" personnel, was horrible. 1st there was confusion as to which date the job was going to start and then when Mariana Handle sent me an email giving me the new start date, I asked her why the date was changed and what time they were going to start. I never received a reply. I received a text message 1 day before the start date indicating that they were going to send me a bill with instructions to pay 40% before the job was to commence, I had already paid 10% down on the day of the contract, but this was not reflected in the bill reflecting an additional 40%, so the amount was incorrect. I again, asked what time they would start so I could make sure to be up on time and received no reply. So, if I was able to, I would give 5 stars to Juan Villanueva who actually did the work and always communicated exactly when he would arrive and what he was going to do. The one star deduction is for the company I contracted with "Rock N Block" for lack of communication and not advising me that they would be using another contractor so I could ask additional questions before agreeing to the work and leaving their arrival time a mystery. read more

I reached out to for a front yard estimate and took time off work to meet with Andrew, who was excellent and very knowledgeable. We went over everything, and he was preparing my estimate. After he left the company, they never contacted me, never sent the estimate, and never followed up. It's disappointing that my time was wasted due to such poor communication. The end product was good, but the delays and scheduling issues for the price were rough and created more headaches than it was worth. We later found cheaper companies who could do the same work but that's on us for not doing better research before signing. The people who showed up to do the actual work needed us to re-explain everything that was being done and were very confused as there was no on-site manager. The rock that was delivered was not approved and had to be replaced but we got charged for the correct rock and the wrong rock. All the leftover rock and turf was left in the street so we had to remove our selves. Again, the end product was good, but took way longer and was more expensive and took more work than we expected. read more
