The last two times I gave this place a try I ended up at the Walk-In clinic and each time was diagnosed with food poisoning. This place is a local staple that I really want to give my full love and support, but I just can't. The overall portions are fair but the actual size of the pieces of chicken themselves have gotten progressively smaller over the years; a trend that continues. I prefer a nice juicy piece of white meat chicken and what I'm consistently served here is dry and lukewarm. The young gal who served me most recently was clearly new but I could tell she was trying her best and so I felt the scoldings she received from the kitchen were unwarranted. I saw a tv ad and thought I would try it. Ordered 12 piece tenders with special sauce, coleslaw, beans, corn and biscuits. Got home and NO SAUCE. Chicken was obviously sitting in a warmer for hours-NOT CRISPY. Beans and corn must have come from a can. Coleslaw was ok but famous chicken? NO WAY; famously BAD MAYBE. I will NEVER eat there again. Julie and the entire team is good. I love my Lee's here in Wausau. I am from Dayton, Ohio and lived in East Tennessee. This Lee's reminds me of what Dayton, Ohio locations were once upon a time. The one in Alcoa, Tn is not good but this one in Wausau is the best one hands down for the past 10 years even going home to Ohio to visit they cannot compare to this Wausau location. It is the only Restaurant honestly in the whole state of Wisconsin and I've been to many restaurants looking for good food and this is honestly the only one. I am a cook / home chef with food most consider amazing and fancy.... but sometimes I like something out to eat... no fancy restaurants here have been good but Lee's is great. I'm still sad till this day that I was pressured by others for our wedding celebration to go to somewhere else because Lee's is who I wanted and will go with in the future. I've been there two times now. The food isn't bad but the cleanliness is suspicious. They had a display pie that was completely molded and soupy that they said not to worry about because "it's just the display." I'm fairly certain that an employee didn't wash their hands before leaving the bathroom. This brings the cleanliness of the entire place into question for me. I ordered through drive-thru. Cashier was very friendly. Ordered chicken poppers, and they were very dry. It came with a side and I got mashed potatoes. My boyfriend ordered chicken tenders & it was really juicy. It came with a side of wedged fries, which was really dry and seemed as if it's been sitting for 1 hour or more. Instead of getting a drink, he got a side of Mac and cheese as well too, and it was very dry as well. Tasted like boxed Mac and cheese with powered cheese. Ordered the 8 piece bucket. It came with a large side of potatoes n gravy. Also added a large coleslaw and mac n cheese. Gravy was bland at best. No biscuits. No coleslaw. And the small mac n cheese we did get was equivalent to elementary school food. The chicken was moist, but not flavorful... we even ordered the spicy crispy! Really it took forever to even get on this review. We have been there probably once every couple weeks so went tonight was there at 4:45 pm early enough that the food should be good. Biscuits crumbled in our hand as soon as we picked it up. Cole slaw was solid orange?? Not good and we did not eat it. I had 3 strip chicken dinner same crap. Had coupon for 3 piece mixed chicken dinner they would not honor it because he requested a different piece of dark meat. OMG. That is tragic. I called and talked to manager and he was nothing short of rude. If that 1 different piece of dark chicken meant that much to you well good for you. You will not see us there again. Lured by an ad for their famous shrimp dinner I went back to Lee's. The shrimp was actually cooked properly however it tasted of old overused oil. I had to disguise the taste by drowning the shrimp in cocktail sauce. The other reviewer wondered why there aren't more Lee's in Wisconsin. THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE. read more

Went here many of times most of time u won't get fresh food my chicken is always soggy and biscuits over cook or hard when the food is fresh it is good when u ask them before u buy for fresh they act smart to u don't go around the 5 pm to 9 pm u won't get fresh food only if u ask I forgot that's how it goes when u buy food read more
