This is Morrow, not exactly a place one would stop for sushi, however this place is excellent for anyone who is in the area and wants sushi and good service. Domo Arigatu is the man, he is very attentive and really takes his time perfecting each roll created. While dining here I had the salmon on salmon roll, Hawaiian roll and seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was good, these usually always taste the same no matter where they are purchased. The fish here did taste very fresh, everything was well presented and tasted as good as it looked. This place use to be one of THE best things about the Morrow/Jonesboro area. It really makes me sad to see how it has gone down over the years. As a Korean/ Japanese/and Chinese food enthusiast, this place use to meet all my needs in one convenient location. Now sometimes I make a u turn in the parking lot, because I just can't with their 'no parking lot maintenance' plan. It's just tragic to see how what use to be such a classy spot has nearly turned into a house of horror. However, sometimes I still power through it just to get the jjamppong. It's a spicy seafood and noodle soup that is good on any day, but especially awesome when I feel I've been compromised. It's my 3rd line of defense against exposure to cold germs, right behind Echinacea and a mask. It's loaded with shrimp, scallops, calamari, delicious leeks, onions, etc. and noodles, swimming in a perfectly flavorful, gently spicy, red pepper broth. I went for lunch hour based on the reviews so I wouldn't waste as much money . I got the hibachi lunch to go . I asked for my steak to be medium rare . It wasn't , it was more well done and it seem like it set out. The chicken was in some teriyaki sauce . I didn't asked for teriyaki chicken I just asked for regular hibachi chicken . The fried rice was good and garlic sauce that came with it was good .That's why I gave the two stars . The yum yum sauce was nasty and super sweet . I've been coming to this place for years, and will probably keep coming as long as they're in business. This is, hands down, the best sushi you can get on the south-side of Atlanta. The Salmon-on-Salmon roll is DELICIOUS and I usually get several when I want a good meal of sushi. The sushi chef is a master-craftsman who carefully prepares each order. His presentation is artistic and the fish is always fresh and full of flavor. There is nothing better than a sushi lunch with a couple of large, hot-sakis. Truthfully, the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the building has slipped over the years. The waterfall and koi pond in the front has been stagnant for too long, and there is definitely a noticeable odor throughout. Hasn't affected the quality of their food, but I can certainly see why it's a turn-off for some. read more

This be a brief, but fair review of the Chinese portion of this shambling playground of Asiatic edibles. I must specify "Chinese" simply because this location also features a sushi bar, a sit-down Japanese restaurant, the ubiquitous Japanese grills (oh I give you extra shrimp lady, catch it in you mouth!!) *and* a separate Korean section. Of course the grills are the most fun and the most familiar at this location as this is where your good Captain first began sharpening his palate for all things Nipponese with fine cardboard-boxed sake and wasabi-encased tidbits of what might possibly be spicy tuna roll... hard to tell... Aye, it took him time to develop an affinity for the finer sakes, the ability to eat sushi sans wasabi and the good sense to visit M.F. Sushi to check out the thigh-high slits in the pretty waitresses dresses..... but even with his heightened level of sophistication and his obvious better-than-you-ness, he still has an undying affection for the Number Nine location for Mr. Lee's Golden Buddha, buddy. Sorry, slipped into third person there... been happening a lot lately. Anyway. For awhile the Golden Buddha Number 9 existed as a tradition for me and my childhood friend Dale and his wife Penny. It was the roaring 90's, a time of impetuous youth, a time of daring acts of piracy, a time of eating raw fish.. on purpose even! Ah, to be young and hungry again, me hearties! So there we were, backed into a corner and.... no, wait, wrong blog. I daresay that no one has snored louder in a Jackie Chan moviehouse than Yours Truly. And that brings me to the Chinese section of Mr. Lee's Golden Buddha Number 9, where I feted my parents on the belated occasion of my recent birthday. The service was fast, the waitstaff was plentiful (no fewer than four different people paid call on our table) and the food was... just okay. Nothing special. Nope. It was good, it was decent... not saying I hated it, it was just "okay". Of course we didn't order anything exotic, like sushi off the belly of a hot Chinese girl (which is too bad really because I'm of a mind to try eating things off the bellies of hot Chinese girls) or dine upon roasted tiger knuckles (the month had an 'r' in it) but you'd think with a place as lush looking at Mr. Lee's Golden Buddha Number 9 that you'd have dancing dragons, sizzling platters of delight and other fantastic voyages into culinary exploration (see the aforementioned belly thing). No, you want to go to this restaurant for the other experiences, and possibly on a middling busy night so that the kitchen is revved up a bit more for you. Waited 20 minutes, while they were completely dead on a Saturday night only to get home and find the crab roll I had ordered was bad, and not only BAD, the idiot who put it together didnt not remove the shell, so the ENTIRE roll had shell throughout it, nothing worse than pulling off the shell toward the end and starting to eat the other side to find it's in the entire roll. Ok, today is one of those days when i drive around and eat. Ive been to dairy queen for a strawberry shortcake, Grand buffet for take out(gross btw) and im getting ready for some Golden Buddha take out. The first thing you see when you go inside is the jolly short, fat man with the round belly. I usually go to the chinese side. Ive been to the hibachi(sp?) grill a few times and had a LOT of fun. Sometimes when i just want to chill and eat good food without the noise, i sit on the japanese side. I mostly do take out though and i have to sneak back into my house before my mother decides she wants some of my food. She's allergic to shellfish, so i get something with shrimp(insert evil laughter). I love their soup and the agedashi dofu. The salad is also great. Their fried rice is the best ive eaten so far. And believe me, i would know because i eat rice everyday in different variations either at home or outside my home. So yep, im off to Golden Buddha to get some more food!!! read more

I can remember saving up money while I was in high school to go here with friends and feast at the hibachi. I've been back a few times and nothing much has changed as far as the food, the entertainment (who doesn't love when they make an onion volcano?), or the restaurant. No one was there when we first came in. The restaurant is very confusing because its five different restaurants in one. The restaurant had a funny smell to it. The servers were nice and got the drinks pretty quickly for us. The sushi took a long time for them to make and it was mediocre. The best part of the meal was the Pan Friend Gyozas. The Korean bulgogi was more like Mongolian beef. It was more onions than meat. There are no onions in bulgogi! The sauce itself did not taste like bulgogi either. I ended up paying for $8 sushi. The picture was not clear and there was indication of how many there was. It was two small pieces. It was supposed to be deep friend but they used this awful bread crumb batter that tasted like dirt. My cousin stated the tacos were not seasoned and her plate was overfilled with cilantro. The sushi here is fantastic! Some things are best said in the most simple, straight forward fashion possible. Fresh succulent fish slices on appropriately sized, perfectly seasoned rice balls (most sushi joints go too heavy on the rice) are the highlights of the excellent nigiri. The sushi chef here is professional, experienced and takes tremendous pride in his work. I mean... even the ginger was exceptionally fresh and tasty. In a town of many very good sushi places this one stands out. Reminds me of the saying that good can frequently be the enemy of great. This place is great. Don't let the outward appearance of this restaurant dissuade you from coming inside. Dosen't look that impressive from the parking lot and the appearance lends itself to suspect food- but no worries. If Sushi isn't your thing, just know that it's only part of the dining experience here. There have other restaurant concepts within this establishment: hibachi steakhouse, Korean and Chinese food. I can't really comment on those, because I only had the sushi at the bar. Real, loose leaf green tea is served here too- awesome! read more

My heart is heavy writing this review but this restaurant has seen better days. I have been coming here for at least 15 years or so whenever I visit relatives in town. Imagine my heart break when I pulled up to the restaurant and saw that the lettering was tattered and the buildings needed a coat of paint. There also seemed to be an issue with the circulation system because the inside seemed stuffy. The sushi I had was top notch and the service was impeccable but the condition of the restaurant detracted from my overall rating. They need to invest a little in a makeover. read more

The hibachi tables are perfectly spaced, service is speedy (almost blindingly so), and the food is always delicious. Besides Hibachi they also have Chinese cuisine and a Korean BBQ. While not seemingly the newest contender the variety and dedication to keeping up the service and food is second to none. And definitely one of the nicer restaurants in Clayton County. read more

This restaurant has gone down hill to the point I would never eat there again. ( In years past we ate there frequently). I am assuming it changed owners? Anyway, after being seated by a indifferent waitress with the social skills of a honey badger we ordered. To our shock everyone at our seating- about 6 people-all recoiled after trying the soup. There was clearly dishwasher soap in the soup or in our bowls it was poured into. Although reassured they cleaned their dishes they don't know how to rinse. It gets worse. Honey badger either knew minimal English or acted like she didn't. After several attempts at letting her know the problem there was no apology. There was no manager apology. We asked for egg drop soup ( currently turned off to regular soup at this point) and she said that was extra. I would think it would be a minimal concession to upgrade our soup since they potentially poisoned us. The rest of the meal was moderate- we were glad to eat anything to get the foul taste out of our mouth. Lastly, the decor has not been updated since 1983. Carpets were dirty, dirty, dirty. What a fall from grace this establishment has taken. I would only recommend this place to my wife's friend Charlene. read more

I had a very bad experience here. We ordered to go and the person on the phone didn't tell us a total. However; we proceeded to pick up the order. When we arrive to the restaurant they tell us about $80 for 3 plates. So we said you know what we don't want to spend that much and had you told us the amount over the phone we would've said oh don't worry don't make it. However; the lady that took the order decided to yell at us and stated she would call the police. She said it was our responsibility but coming from a serving background when to go orders are placed we always tell the price and ask if that's ok. We were served slushes, flavored well, but including tapioca "boba" in various stages of preparation from not at all to mushy mess. We opted for water. 2) We ordered our food 15 minutes before the next table and the cook started our food 15 minutes after the next table. 3) The ginger dressing on the appetizer salad is perfect! 4) Fried rice = rice + egg + wait... ground meat??? 5) Ordered 1 Shrimp & Chicken, 3 Teriyaki Shrimp. Got 1 Shrimp & Teriyaki Chicken and 3 Shrimp... all overcooked. 6) Ordered Shrimp & Broccoli to go. Undercooked. This time we chose Chinese section..and these are reasons why I gave 3-star: 1) Bird Nest Seafood. That's what my husband got. The bird nest didn't look pretty or right, it was just round cracker. From what I know bird nest is at least make something like diagonal patterns....Seafood tasted good I would say. 2) "NO MSG" sign at the window...This make me really think is it so TRUE? I know many Chinese MOSTLY used MSG in their meals. No offense but I will believe it if someone like a health department get their ingredients or food to the lab to see if it's truth or not. Well, after a "good" day's work, me and my colleagues were driving around Morrow, headed to a Thai Food restaurant when we passed Golden Buddha. We figured they would have a lunch special, so we turned around and headed for this spot. When we went in, it almost reminded me of a mini-mall, as there were several rooms that we passed on the way to the Hibachi area.... All in all, the waitress seated us at a grill area, and we were promptly served. I ordered the Lunch plate, which was a combination of soup, salad, Chicken and fried rice, and a sweet tea. Within 5 minutes, the sweet tea, soup and salad came out! Within less than 15 minutes, the chef came out. He was very personable, and struck up a good convo with us. He then proceeded to cook steak for one person, and then rice, vegetables and chicken for the rest of us. The food was good overall, and the sweet tea was sweet.... I will admit that the chicken was a bit tough, but I was able to eat it nonetheless. It also was quite cold in there, so it shortened our time of talking as business associates. There also is no wifi or plugs anywhere (which is expected for a place like this), so we simply "enjoyed" the Hibachi experience, and left. Overall, the place was good. It also was clean, with no ridiculous smells to speak of. There were a few flatscreen televisions (approx. 45"ers) in the place, which could encourage some tv watching. Also, they had a party hall room, so large groups could reserve the space for events. Lastly, the price overall was quite good: Just under $13 for the aforementioned items above! Of course, that was lunch, so I'm sure their prices are higher during dinner. Again, all in all, it was a good experience, and I plan on coming back again! read more
