This was our first visit to this establishment. I have been to many Mongolian BbQ places across the country and this one is the worst I have ever been to. Typical go fill your bowl add the limited sauces than have it cooked. Only problem is the limited number of sauces and lack of spices. Peppers are on the table not available for cooking. Service is limited to them bringing out rice, soup, snd bread. All very bland. My bread was burnt on the edges. People like it because you can keep going back. I believe that the cook.chef had my order on the grill for a while 2 minutes if that. Get real, let's cook the food snd give us the spices we want. I have never been to a Mongolian a BBQ where vinegar was a major spice to add to your meal. So, will I go back? Not in this life time. My suggestion, avoid. read more

They were nice. Pretty expensive when you can't eat a ton. Thankfully they let you have take home box and hopefully that will make it home. Some sanitation issues. At the grill they put their finger in the bowl They do change out the bowl but If uncooked meat germs get on the hand and then into fresh bowl that's not great. It was an interesting new experience. Fast, pleasant service, relaxed atmosphere, fresh food...Kyla was great, and when asked, told us how to separate our tip for cook & her. Drinks never went dry. Hunting for something new on a Saturday afternoon around 1P and Husband craving Mongolian grill type food. Yelp showed Lee's (yay for Yelp!) & we had to go. Little skeptical on location when we arrived, but go in - you won't be sorry. $14.25 one time through, $15.25 unlimited. You aren't billed until the end, so you can choose if "once is not enough." Includes egg drop soup, pocket bread (really unusual choice but tasty) & rice. I thought the soup was bland, but Husband, who traveled and lived in several Asian locations, thought it was original and perfect. Was happy to have locals in front of us - young men (brothers) who said their mom had been bringing them since they were kids and taught them how to make their bowls, so they shared their secrets to the best way to get what you want in one bowl, as well as their sauce recipe. Think about that - they are now spending THEIR money to eat here. In fact, most of the people we saw come in - and it was a steady stream for a middle of the afternoon Saturday - were locals, not tourists. Crab wontons - fantastic! Thumbs up from Husband too. Egg rolls - different. Loved insides, but the breading they use on the outside was puffy and messed with my texture issues. I chose pork as my meat, though I now understand after talking to friends, I could have asked for elk or Bison, had I been "in the know." I did lots of veggies, no noodles. Husband did chicken & beef w/noodles. Both were delish, but next time I will pass on the recommended curry sauce. One bowl was plenty, which means if you don't like it, you only lose $15. This is a fun place to try something different. Load up all sorts of raw ingredients in a bowl, make a sauce or use their recipe for their sauce, pass it to the cook, who is standing over a really hot surface. They'll cook it for you, place it in a fresh bowl and you can do this as many times as you want. The one downside, I'll say is that when I bring the family, they are full after one pass. Great! I had never been here, nor had I heard of it until my in laws announced they were taking us here for dinner! I didn't know what to expect, but I'm really glad we came! The food was delicious and fresh! It was fun creating my own dish and watching as the person at the end of the counter cooked it all up. You are able to choose your amount of noodles, what type of meat you'd like, and the sauces and vegetables! I had something kind of basic, chicken, a few vegetables, and some light sauces, but overall it was still really good and I enjoyed it a lot! My sister took my family here during our holiday visit to Ogden. When we pulled into a dimly lit back alley parking lot and walked up to the fluorescent lit sign that said "Mongolian BBQ," I'll admit I had some reservations. But once we got inside, the restaurant was bustling and packed! This is clearly a local favorite hole in the wall. I'd never been to a Mongolian BBQ restaurant before, but my sister explained how it works: Grab a bowl, choose your meats, veggies and noodles (can pick as many/as much as you can fit in your bowl) and then concoct their signature seasoning sauce, which they have instructions for pinned up for your reference. You can really get creative here, which I love. Craving seafood flavors? Go heavier on the lobster sauce. Want a bowl that packs a little more punch of flavor? Doctor it up with curry sauce and a couple scoops of fresh garlic. You can really take your dish any direction you want. I did a bowl with chicken and pork, lots of cabbage, sliced cucumber, onions (both white and green) and other assorted veggies. No egg noodles for me since I'm gluten free. I piled up my bowl, made my sauce and mixed them together. You then pass your bowl to their grill expert who pours the entire bowl onto a seasoned flattop grill, and then she works her magic. In a matter of minutes the bowl is ready and back in your hands to enjoy. I added white rice to mine to sub for the noodles, which actually worked out perfectly for sopping up all of the remaining sauce at the bottom of the bowl. Other notable mentions: The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. I believe that Friday's and Saturday's are "all you can eat," which could be dangerous given how delicious the food is. On Friday and Saturday nights are all you can eat, which for someone that is hungry it will more than fill you up (and that is just the BBQ). Once through the line to create a BBQ bowl of amazingness, the waitress will bring you a cup of rice, egg drop soup, and sesame pocket bread. The bread is dense and has a truly has the great taste of sesame. This was one of my favorite things at dinner, but I am a huge bread lover. The best part is the staff is so friendly and quick to assist. The place was packed but it did not feel crowded, nor was it uncomfortable. If you are in Ogden this is a must visit. read more

This place is great! I love their standard Mongolian selection of meats and fresh vegetables. Their seasoning and spice choice could use a wider variety upgrade, but their classic/limited selection still allows the ability to make an incredible dish. I once got crab puffs and they came out still frozen on the inside, they didn't charge me, life is good. Green tea here is great. Service is adequate, but to be expected. We've been coming here for nearly 30 years. Last Friday was the last time for us. Prices are way too high for what you get and now they charge gratuity for parties of 5 (FIVE) or more, even if you split your check (BE AWARE OF THIS ASININE POLICY BECAUSE IT'S BASICALLY ROBBERY!). Just five people. That's the size of the average family. They tacked on an extra $30 because of that ridiculous charge. I definitely do NOT agree with that. I have NEVER paid $30 in tips for something like this and I guarantee the waitress who served us did not earn it. She left us without drink refills for at least 20 minutes. I'm so disappointed and disgusted with this underhanded way of doing business. Apparently I wasn't the only one who felt that way as I heard several other customers loudly complaining about it as well. I'm so done with places like this. It's sad that they don't value their customers. There's plenty of other places to try that don't force undeserved gratuities on the customer. Omg this place is amazing. Right from the start, as soon as we walked in we were greeted like we were family. The staff were super nice. Our waitress kept drinks full, and was extremely attentive to our table. The ingredients were fresh even though it was the end of the day and they were closing in less than thirty minutes. There was plenty of selection and the cook did everything up to perfection. We had our check in a timely manor and didn't have to wait for anything! Our food was so good. I love this place and you and your family will too... Let me start out with this isn't any regular Mongolian BBQ restaurant. I believe the secret to why your food tastes sooo delicious is because they cook it on this huge SEASONED (decades of deliciousness) flat top grill. The thinly sliced meats and veggies are all amazing and the veggies are fresh and crisp! Lastly the sauces have never changed and offer an amazing experience for your tummy!!! I however stick to my tried and true recipe every time thats curated by myself and of course I always add noodles...all this with my trusted sesame bread to sop up the yummy juices at the bottom of my bowl or takeout container. I love the "eating in" experience at Lee's, because it adds to the adventure to pile your bowl high with whatever you want and watch them cook it right in front of you. However, the takeout experience was great, and the food stayed hot all the way on our 25 minute drive home. The portions are filling. I love the sauces, and always eat at least one pocket bread. Smelled so good from the outside, went for Valentine's Day having always wanted to try it. Our server was great for sure, however, the food was definitely lacking in options and flavor. Weird the meat is all frozen so takes up SO much space in your bowl, the vegetables are not labeled so i put a ton of potato sticks on my meat thinking it was bean sprouts. No broccoli or any of the other staples you see at mongolian grills. Not a lot of options for sauce....basically if you don't like curry or garlic sorry. I've been coming to Lee's Mongolian since around 1988 when I was under 10 years old. I've been taking my family there ever since. It is the best Mongolian restaurant in the world. The staff is amazing. The family that owns and runs the business is great. I remember all of them from when I was a young kid. It's great seeing a restaurant like Lee's thrive for so long. I was thinking the other day that it had been a while, a good long while since I'd had a good Mongolian BBQ and after hitting up this place shortly after, it looks like the drought will continue. Ordering and basically the movement in this place is really funky (though the line moved pretty fast, probably mostly because the actual cook time on the grill was under what it should have been), but that fits right in with the building itself being funky on the exterior and inside (men's bathroom placement is like in a maze). Parking is no less of an oddity, but on the day I went here, I really wanted Mongolian. Service is interesting. Waitress was very engaging up front, then flat-out ignored me for quite a bit of the time (apparently this is normal and expected here) until I finally made enough hint overtures for her to wander back over. I think my expectations, based on how places act in Salt Lake, were probably higher than normal for this place. She was friendly and tried very hard to be helpful, which was kind of her. If you've been to any Mongolian place, you know how it works. If not, it's basically load up a bowl with various meats and vegetables and in this case, cold spaghetti and cover it in sauces, which is then fried on a circular grill. In this place, the bowls are pre-loaded with chicken only for lunch (wrong) and it's only one pass. As Tony has mentioned, this then becomes very expensive for what you actually get, considering every other one I've been to, without exception, is AYCE. The choices of meat are also very slight here, comparatively. I suppose if it was really good, I wouldn't have a complaint, but it wasn't. It was very average, very heavily Americanized Mongolian BBQ, as you probably would reasonably expect for this area. I made the sauce the house way, which was ok, but the actual frying was below par and there was no possibility of adding extra heat...until you get to the tables. Kudos for them having a homemade chili oil sauce and a quite good one. I took advantage of this to a pretty healthy degree. It could not, however, save the egg drop soup, which was inedible. Rice was solid, as was the green tea and too late, I noted they had Diet Mt. Dew on tap, all points in their favor. After my one bowl, I was still feeling a bit light and noticed they had sesame balls. Perfect! Except...perhaps bowing to the area, they came coated in powdered sugar and cinnamon as well as chocolate (Hershey's) and caramel. If you order these, get them plain, but know going in that they're not right. I get it; the area, blah blah blah. If I ever get the craving again while I'm in the area - and it would have to be an irresistible craving - I might go in again, but there's just not enough there for me to be much interested in repeating. read more

There is a very limited selection of ingredients and sauces, none of which are remotely Asian except maybe the soy sauce. It is virtually impossible to make an interesting dish with the ingredients they provide. It could be ok if you're looking for a quick, non-fuss reasonably healthy fix, but honestly for what you pay, there are plenty of far better options nearby in terms of food quality and atmosphere. read more

Decided to give this location a try. I have always enjoyed Mongolian BBQ.... With the idea behind it being, you basically create your entire meal, they just heat it up. Well, i guess I was wrong. Waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, her tip reflected, however this rating is based on the quality/price ratio. I have to compare this location to the Mongolian establishment located in Layton. Lee's had a very small selection of meats available... Had enough trays displayed, but 2 of the 5 were empty. NBD, got a serving of chicken and serving of beef and moved on... This is where everything went south. Of all the vegetables available, there were two tongs and one large spoon to share to scoop out what you wanted.... ie. I used the same spoon to scoop out my onions as my pineapple and so forth... Reading the reviews on here, I had to try an egg roll. Wasn't impressed. Very greasy, the dipping sauce that came with the egg roll was pretty tasty though. Overall, if we are in the mood for Mongolian, we will take the 45 minute drive to Layton over the 10 minute drive to Lee's. read more

This is as much a rebuttal of a few other reviews as it is a review of my own. I like this place. It's not fancy and it's not that great looking but it is good food. I've been going there since I was a kid and it really hasn't changed. Now, there are reviews complaining about how much food you get. To that I say it's plenty of food for a meal, quit thinking like a fat guy. Quantity isn't everything and if you must they do offer an all-you-can-eat option for the "American" appetite. But since this is an Ogden tradition - it has a cult following and the owner capitalizes on it. I can't justify spending $40+ on a meal for one adult and 2 small kids when I can do better just down the road for about half that. Single trips through the BBQ need to be less than $10. This place is an Ogden staple! I really enjoy all the vegetable and sauce selections they have available. The meat is great, but I do think it would be tastier if it was fresh instead of frozen. My parents adore Lee's Mongolian and go there at every opportunity. As for myself, I'm over it. I've been converted to the gospel of Charlie Chow's. Lee's is expensive, for one thing, and you don't get very much food for what you pay for. The bowls are tiny, and the frozen meat doesn't smash down very well, so you can't fit much in there. The selection of meat at lunchtime is pretty lacking. For some reason, even leaving some of the sauces and oils out, your noodles still come out very greasy. The pocket bread is okay, but not worth lusting after, and the egg rolls are just okay too. I'd much rather visit Charlie Chow's in Salt Lake City. Prices are better and you get more food there anyway. Plus it's not quite so terrifyingly scary and gross of a location. And you don't have to say a prayer and hope that they're open (I think the owners of Lee's make up their own holidays and close at random times.) read more
