I have been using computer services in the Amherst area for about 25 years. I have generally been satisfied with the services I received. But now in my very senior years I have come upon a real treasure with Left Click. I'd been having lots of problems with my PC for the last 4 months and hoping to avoid taking in for repairs, worrying that I wouldn't be able to manage all the re-connections. I finally gave in and called Left Click. I told them of my worries and they said 'we'll pick it up with our courier, fix it, bring it back and set it up All that for a very reasonable price. I purchased a refurbished laptop 6 weeks ago from LeftClick; the staff person who helped me figure out what features would be most useful to me was super-helpful (raised pertinent questions, and guided me in those areas where I didn't have knowledge). While they were unable to completely solve the problem, they offered a number of helpful suggestions that ultimately made the computer usable again. These guys are great. My system died and I had to get a new laptop. They helped me set it up and rescued everything they could from the laptop that died. Then they helped me learn things about the new system. I'm not a techie, don't like or understand computers and work with them only because I have to.Brian, who mostly worked with me, was very patient and understanding, even when asked the same question a few times, kindly making himself available when I needed extra help. I am totally underwhelmed by level of service I've received so far at Leftclick... I am only giving them one star because no stars is not an option. 2 days ago I was shown a mac G4 by the manager TJ. It needed work and I told him to get me price and I would buy it. Not having heard from him I dropped by the store to inquire about the computer. It turns out that TJ the manager is on vacation... ....that was the young woman's response to my question about the computer. It seems that the tech in back remembered my initial visit, but couldn't add anything to the conversation ... I was further informed by the young woman that "no one was allowed to offer a price" on any item... now I've been in sales for over 30 years, and one thing I know is if someone wants to spend money, you find a way to accommodate them. The young woman seemed unsure about this concept ... I asked her if in fact they were running a business, she informed me they were... I asked to talk with the owner Kelly Allbright and was informed that he didn't like to get phone calls. I suppose if I had read the 7 not recommended reviews I never would have stepped foot into Leftclick... they seem not to give a crap about sales or customer service, it's amazing they've been able to keep the doors open for as long as they have. read more

I had liquid damage to my laptop. They replaced the top case. I noticed my laptop wasn't going to sleep when I closed it so I brought it back. The front guy went behind a screen to ask his tech guy about it who replied "is that a problem?" I just thought that was rude. I'm not a techy person so I would've liked them to tell me there could still be damage even though they fixed what they could. I guess at least my laptop is functional. read more

Lost wifi capability on HP laptop. Phoned LeftClick to see if appointment required; given two options and price for each, very simple and clear. Dropped laptop off for prepaid assessment. In subsequent email problem was identified and explained. Decisions made, picked up laptop, now have wifi again. Dealt with two people at counter, both were pleasant, knowledgeable, and articulate. Avoid avoid avoid. Complete scam artists. I have a dead battery in my mac laptop. They insist on a $89 'diagnostic' (for a dead battery?) and refused to even look up a part price until I brought the machine in and paid for diagnosis. Literally said, when I asked if they could get the part price, "well, that would be doing work for you without you paying us anything." Huh? They must be preying on unsuspecting college students and their parents to stay in business. read more

Things have gone from bad to worse at Left Click. The customer service is atrocious and the prices have gone up dramatically. I have never written a bad review for a local western mass business but I have also never had such consistent problems with one. And considering they clearly don't give a crap I figured I should warn other people. I took in a MacBook which I had spilled a small amount of coffee on. I asked how much a diagnostic was and was told $45 then when I took it in they informed me that they should have said $60. No apology, no flexibility. The hipster who took it in made it seem like I was the one who had fucked up. I told them at the time that I might not be able to afford to have it fixed right away and might wait since it was working with an external keyboard. It wasn't until they had put the computer back together and I had paid that they told me I would need to pay another diagnostic fee if I brought it back. I kind of understand the logic but that would have been good to know ahead of time as I probably would have waited to have them open it up until I knew I could afford to fix it. So, I didn't get the money together for the $370 quote for a few months. I bring it back in January expecting to pay $60 for the diagnostic but am informed as they're taking my card that the diagnostic fee is now $79. An almost 30% increase. There was no mention of this in advance. Generally I would expect a business to inform a returning customer of such a dramatic increase. I asked if they had a quote from the last time and she read it off to me. I then asked if I should expect about the same and she said yes. So I agree begrudgingly and they take the computer in. I get the results of the diagnostic and a quote a few days later. Now the quote is for $440! For the same repair, actually less of a repair because the trackpad doesn't need to be replaced, and they had already cleaned it before. So, for less labor and one less part I'm paying $70 more. Again, when I asked for the quote from the first attempt I should have been informed of this dramatic price increase. I understand the need to raise prices once in awhile, although generally not by such an insane amount, but what is inexcusable is the completely awful customer service. If you raise your prices you need to tell people. When I complained they acted as if I was somehow supposed to have known already. The general attitude of the "customer service" people at this place is that they're doing you a favor to have you as a customer. I'm all for young people owning businesses but if you're trying to charge someone $500 you should act and speak like an adult. Not like a snotty hipster who can't be bothered to inform you of price gouging and policy changes. Never again. read more

My daughter at Smith needed more memory added to her MacBook . The tech dept at Smith recommended Left Click in Amherst . After my wife and daughter talked to the gentleman behind the counter , he told them that it would be upwards of 300 to install more memory on her MacBook . We checked with a computer expert about this price and he said these people at left click are really trying to rip you off. He advised my wife and daughter never to go there again. My son is a student at Amherst College. He needed to have a battery installed in his older MacBook Pro. We purchased the battery at a MicroCenter near DC where we live -- battery was $100 and installation would be $49. He had to return to school so we sent the battery to him at school. Amherst College recommended Left Click. We called Left Click and they stated installation would be about $30. My son brought it in today and they charged him $119 for installation. When I spoke with them they stated that their prices had changed on February 1 -- from $30 to $119! For a simple battery installation -- MicroCenter had even included the correct tools --- small screw drivers. We are so disappointed. Amherst College needs to take them off their recommended list. We will talk with them re: this incident. read more

My laptop stopped working, so I brought it to LeftClick. Paid the $89 fee to diagnose the problem. Ended up being the mother board had died! I chose not to spend the $700 to fix it since buying a new laptop was only a couple hundred dollars more. But, the folks at LeftClick were very helpful, very professional, and very patient with my many questions! Would return to them for any future (smaller) problems. Local group of computer repair experts who fixed my Lenovo laptop, replaced motherboard. Very scrupulous safety measures and social distancing. Repair took several days, however, while they quarantined my laptop ( they just could have wiped it down and started work at once). Cost of repair was reasonable, and I'm pleased with the result. read more

I had downloaded a virus, slowing my MacBook down to the point of wanting to throw it out the window. They quickly and easily got rid of it while adding extra protection. It wasn't inexpensive but they fixed it and now it runs smoothly. read more

Unbelievable experience!. I have MacBook Pro mid 2010. When I first spoke to the person at Left Click I was told for diagnostics I have to pay $89. Also I was told if I will bring that to Apple store they will not even look at 2010. Well... I went to Apple store and guess what? There is a free test/diagnostics for all Apple computers. So, my MacBook pro was tested at Apple store. No I know for sure what my Mac needs. I came back to LeftClick with the print of a test from Apple. I told them what exactly need to be done. Now, I was told before they do anything they have to do there own testing because they don't trust somebody else word:))) Apple Store is "somebody else word" for them! These people saved my bacon big time over Labor Day weekend in 2010, just now, and I owe them a big debt of gratitude. I flipped my MacBook Pro -- it did a triple gainer and landed on the corner where the hard drive is, and I lost a month's worth of work since my last backup (I know, I know). The Apple Store in Holyoke told me the HD was fubar and they would replace it and take the busted one - no data recovery - and it would take some days to accomplish. But Shawn at left-click replaced my hard drive same day, recovered most of my data and all the critical files I needed to keep working (interview recordings I could not reproduce, et cetera), and had me up and rolling for very reasonable dollars with time to spare to make my deadlines. If you're a mainstream shopper, sure, other places may have more stuff on the rack or cheaper prices. But if you live off your Mac, and you need flexible top-drawer professional tech support at short notice and inside a budget, left click are your friend in need. (My wife also liked the window-shopping in the rest of the building, and there's ice cream, coffee, good eats, bookstore, fashions, toys, furniture, etc. while you're waiting for whatever you may be waiting for, and all kinds of funky shopping and dining and music et cetera up and down the street from that, street buskers, strolling folk to ogle, whole lively downtown scene; not a generic mall experience like where the Apple Store is). Not hating on the Apple Store, I did get a new Time Capsule there (lessons learned late in life are to be savored) ... and I give Apple Store all due props for being concerned and caring folk. I have a broken LCD screen on my ASUS N53SV. I called left click and asked for a quote. The guy on the phone told me that they would need to run a full hardware diagnostics on the computer, at a cost of $50 to me, before they could issue me a quote for the LCD replacement. What kind of fucking business model is that? If I had a flat tire, and took my car to a repair shop, and asked "how much for a new tire" and the mechanic said "well, we'll have to run a full diagnostics on your car to see if you actually need a tire, and we're going to charge you $50 to do that" I'd tell the mechanic to sit on it. Which is exactly what I did with Left Click. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Went in to get my macbook fixed, and they made sure that I understood everything they needed to do and answered all my questions. I needed my laptop asap for homework and they figured out a quick fix, but if they didn't work, they said they would go into the longer process immediately. But, it was a quick fix and I got my laptop back in less than 2 hours! Really nice people! read more

Having to bring my Macbook to Left Click instead of the Apple Store when my hard drive and flex cable failed was the best thing that could have happened to my computer. Kat walked me through the entire process of choosing a replacement hard drive (ended up choosing a 1TB SSD that could keep up with the heavy graphics programs I use), kept me posted with detailed updates on my computer's repair, and replaced the flex cable again when the repair one went bad. When my computer was having issues with the powerful new hard drive, I called Left Click right away and Kat followed up with tons of recommendations for upgrading my RAM to match. The computer is running even better than it did when I brought it in, and after the RAM upgrade will be even more powerful; a machine that I was hoping would last for 4 years of college is now set to take me through grad school (knock on wood!). I had the 3 year Apple Care plan and have taken my computer to the Apple Store for several successful repairs before, but what made the difference at Left Click was how much they helped me learn about my own computer. I now have invaluable knowledge about computer repairs that I never would have gained had I dropped it off at an Apple Store and picked it up when the repair was done. Customer service at Left Click is really second to none--super friendly, fast, knowledgable, and more than willing to explain the repair process to me. Left-click did a great job helping me figure out what to do about my 2 large computers, 1 very large computer, and 1 laptop, all of which needed upgrades. I wanted a newer laptop and the very large computer was not being used. With their help, I decided to trade in the very large computer for a second (used) laptop, transfer the information from the very large computer onto the two merely large computers, duplicate the old laptop information onto the new used laptop. Etc. They did it all at a very good price in a very reasonable amount of time, and answered my kazillion questions clearly! read more

I recently helped my mom buy a new Macbook Air from Left Click. Not only did it take them 3 weeks longer than they had promised to get it in the store, but they did not install programs we asked to be installed in the data transfer. On top of that, I called them multiple times while setting up and they were less than friendly in the interaction. I called back one more time and asked if they were open the day before or the day after Christmas, and the employee working there didn't even know if they were. Talk about customer service.. read more
