Hubby and I give this place 5 stars because the food was DEELISH! He got the Reuben Sandwich; I got the hand formed Classic Burger was just right with all the fixins and pepper jack cheese. We shared fries which were tasty and crispy (as requested). Lots of vintage and vintage-style signs on the walls for your viewing pleasure. (The venue is a bit dark for our personal preferences, but that didn't affect the food.) Next time you're in or around Forrest City, AR, give it a try. read more

Legacy Cafe is a phenomenal stop in Forrest City, Arkansas, not far from I-40. This perfect small town diner is filled with roadhouse memorabilia and very pleasant servers, and the food is excellent! The thick farm fries are tasty and made fresh. But the fried catfish is the star of the show! We arrived on a Friday afternoon to find the place mostly empty. We each got a glass of wine and ordered our meals. After a while my "smoked chicken" arrived along with the shrimp my friend had picked. I have eaten smoked half chickens many times in the past at many BBQ restaurants. They always come from the kitchen with rich, dark skin which has been coated with BBQ sauce. This came to the table with pale, watery residue surrounding a thin tough bird. The bird had been boiled and never was smoked. I think this particular bird was one half of a tough old rooster. It was hard to dismember and offered very little edible meat. It may as well have been a rubber chicken. I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone else. read more

On the way back to Memphis from golfing at Village Creek State Park. Found Legacy Cafe on Yelp with great reviews. They deserve them. Excellent food, friendly service & comfortable atmosphere. Something on menu to please everyone. I had catfish with onion rings. It was great. Fresh, crispy, seasoned right, lots of flavor & not a bit greasy. First time here, we found them on Yelp. It was amazing!! Started with friendly greeting and ended with outstanding meal! We had the house specialty breaded mushrooms and the literally "drop off the bone" Baby Back ribs. This is a local gem with the owner who comes by your table to welcome you to his family restaurant! Not impressed. The "smoked" chicken was boring bland baked chicken. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was frozen or out of a box and even worse the top was cold as if it came out the fridge while the rest was lukewarm. The mashed potatoes were also barely warm. Service was bad too, after our food was delivered we never saw our waitress again, we had to wave someone down to get our check. Heading to a concert we stopped in for dinner. Oh wow!! What an amazing experience!! I ordered their fish dinner and my husband ordered grilled shrimp. Both were absolutely delicious!! We arrived around 8:30 on a Thursday night, afraid we were close to the kitchen closing time. We were pleasantly welcomed. Our food was tasty, hot and well prepared. We never felt rushed. My burger appeared to be a hand made patty. My husband's fried fish was plentiful (he brought 1 piece with us). The Legacy turned out to be one of the best meals on our road trip. We are passing through Forest City and literally stumbled on this GEM of a restaurant. The inside is very cool and we found out the handiwork is all the proud owner's work. The food is excellent I had the chicken fried steak dinner and husband had the Legacy Club sandwich (on Texas toast, yum). The service was quick and I can't recommend them enough. Wonderful experience with an amazing burger to boot! Katie was as hospitable and welcoming as can be. We came in after their rush and were along with another gentleman the only 2 tables she had so nothing felt rushed. The Legacy burger, as well as other specials, was 2 x 1/3 lb Pattie's with fixings and with a huge amount of waffle fries added. Deliciously decadent and juicy. We told her that we had ridden for 10 hrs and were mentioning the Mac and cheese. Out comes Katie with a small bowl of the Mac n' cheese " on the house". What terrific service. Good is gross and unseasoned PERIOD ! Chicken strips are gross and unseasoned batter never actually stays on it. Salads made with the stems lettuce and barely any lettuce. Expensive for no reason! read more
